Features

Vehicle Compatibility: The AX-PO90052 radio replacement interface module from Axxess Integrate allows you to replace the factory radio in select 2004-2009 Porsche vehicles featuring a stock M.O.S.T. 25 amplifier with an aftermarket head unit, while retaining important factory features.

Make Model Year
Porsche 911 (997) 2004-2009
Boxster (987) 2004-2009
Cayman (987C) 2004-2009

Retained Factory Features: The Axxess Integrate AX-PO90052 retains the following OEM features in your vehicle after you have replaced your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit.

  • Factory Amplifier: The Axxess Integrate AX-PO90052 retains the vehicle's stock M.O.S.T. 25 amplifier with balance control. Fader control is not supported. Your new aftemarket stereo must have 4V or higher pre-outs.
  • R.A.P. (Retained Accessory Power): The AX-PO90052 retains the R.A.P. function in your vehicle. R.A.P. (Retained Accessory Power) supplies power to the radio after the ignition is shut off until one of the front doors are opened.
  • Warning Chimes: The AX-PO90052 will also retain factory warning chimes when present in your vehicle.
  • Steering Wheel Audio Controls: If your aftermarket head unit is steering wheel control ready, the included ASWC-1 steering wheel control interface module and harness allow you to retain your vehicle's factory steering wheel audio controls.

Outputs: The Axxess Integrate AX-PO90052 provides a 12V/10A accessory output, illumination output, and navigation outputs to make installation easier and less time consuming.

  • Accessory (12V/10A): Because there is no 12-volt accessory wire in the factory harness of your vehicle, the AX-PO90052 provides a 12-volt, 10-amp switched accessory output. This prevents you from having to run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing your aftermarket stereo.
  • Illumination Output: The AX-PO90052 also has an illumination output if your new aftermarket head unit has an illumination wire.
  • Navigation: The AX-PO90052 provides essential wires required for aftermarket radios that have navigation. VSS (Vehicle Speed Sense), Reverse, and Parking Brake wires are provided. This helps to cut down the installation time, since the installer does not have to look for or tap into these wires in the vehicle.

Q
do phone controls on steering wheel work with this kit, or just radio? For reference, 997.2 with pcm 3 system, no bose.

A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
My 2006 997.1 911 Carrera with Bose Sound System and GPS has no steering wheel controls (just small display under gauge cluster that shows radio station) would I need to buy the $300 steering wheel package or is this not needed due to the absence of these steering buttons on my model?

A
It is not needed due to the absence of the steering wheel controls.
randy  Apr 29, 2021
A
No need to buy the steering wheel package if you don't have the buttons. I purchased just the wiring harness, which made installation really easy. It'sa great unit and will give your 997 so many features. You will lose the station info in your gauge cluster and some other small settings like daytime running lights, but the other features far outweigh those missing pieces.

Q
Has anyone who installed this interface noticed a significant reduction in volume output? Just installed this in my '05 Boxster S and with my HU at max volume it's still only about 65%-70% of the volume that was output with the factory CDR24. Wondering if the interface itself is really pulling that much power or if I have something incorrectly installed.

My volume is fine (2006 911). You need to make sure that the volume is set to mid way before you disconnect to original PCM otherwise you can run in to problems like this
rickard d  Jun 16, 2020
A
If anything swapping from the stock headunit to a pioneer with this adaptor made the stereo in my 05 boxster (with Bose) louder.
jeremy  Jun 16, 2020
A
Yes I have also noticed the reduction in volume in my 06 Boxster S after installing the axxess interface, but have not found a solution.

Q
Does using this kit preserve the ability to set fade between front and rear speakers?
fabio  Aug 21, 2019

A
, the only way to achieve that is to add an amplifier to the unit or wire the speakers directly to the head unit.
michael  Apr 29, 2021
A
No it does not
richard  Aug 27, 2019
A
Short answer - no. (for my 2006 Porsche 911) I had never tried it as the front/rear balance was perfect for me. I'm tall and have the seat all the back. The back speaker is right under my head. But I played with it today and all the it does is lower the overall volume of the system. Right left works fine. After thinking about how it hooked to the unit this makes sense. Overall, I've been happy with the sound. Better than the original system. My home system is very nice (B&W etc). However, I don't put tons of money into the car audio, as they are cars with (lots of) noise. Hope this helps.
jonathan  Aug 23, 2019
A
No it doesnt. There is no harness available from any dealer that allows this that I am aware of
rickard d  Aug 22, 2019
Q
There is no fader control supported with this interface. Do you need to set up the fader before removing the original stereo from the car? If so, what is the proper setting? Full fade to front fade, full fade to rear, midway, or where it sounds best with the original stereo?

If you purchased the product from Crutchfield, feel free to contact our Tech Support team. Our toll-free Tech Support number is printed on your invoice, and is also available under the "My Orders" tab in the "My Account" section of our website. If you did not purchase the unit from Crutchfield, then you may want to contact the manufacturer.

Q
The Bose amplifier takes a digital optical signal, correct? So it presumably has its own DAC. The converter box included in this kit must output a digital optical signal, but does it end up taking an analog input from the head unit or a digital signal? An analog signal would mean a Digital->Analog->Digital->Analog conversion before reaching the amplifier and speakers.

a new amp with it. That's my next step but even without the amp, the unit sounds better by far than the original head unit.
michael  Apr 29, 2021
A
Not sure what a DAC is ir the rest of yoir concerns but i installed the kit alongwith a new head unit leaving everyting else stock in my sons 05 Boxster S and it works well
aaron  Jan 13, 2019
A
I'm not sure where you're getting that first Digital, but I'm not sure it matters, I think you're right, but it works fine. I don't think the Porsche Bose system (amp & speakers) is good enough to really expose that double conversion. If you're planning to put in high end speakers with the existing Bose amp, I'd reconsider and put in your own amp to run the new speakers. In my case, perfectly satisfied with the Sony AX200 > Axxess > Bose performance, but it's admittedly not audiophile level.

Q
It seems that the upgrade to a GPS unit does not work properly with a Bose system on a 2006 Carrera? Was this issue fixed by Crutschfield?
philippe  Dec 26, 2018
1 answer
A
Hi Philippe, That Axxess wiring harness would support the Bose system (amp, speakers, sub) in addition to steering wheel controls in most 2006 Porsche models. It will not retain the factory GPS or backup camera. You can get both of those things through aftermarket parts through. My Porsche Cayman doesn't have steering wheel control. How do I buy a smaller kit?

The AX-PO90052 includes steering wheel control however the AX-PO904 does not. I simply bought the AX-PO90052 and didn't install the SWC module.
