2013 Subaru Outback

So this harness! Wow, ok, first one in package is the wrong one for my Outback, then once I got the correct one, the amp power wire for a Subaru 2013 was not in the harness. 4 hrs and two tech supporters later, we figured this out. Had to do manual mode to set up the steering wheel, no big deal just a learning curve, (read directions several times). But unfortunately no backup camera still, and so I'll have to spend more time troubleshooting once off work again to try to figure out with tech support.

I wish i would have noticed the earlier review from Ryan before I purchased this for our Outback. I have encountered all of the same issues and still don't have the backup camera and androd auto working. I need to call tech support again to help identify more modificaions to these wiring harnesses. My only positive is that my experience with tech support has been very productive.

2014 Subaru Outback

Went to wire this up to a 2014 Subaru Outback Limited with Harman Kardon audio, without navigation. I will start by saying I am a Subaru Senior Master tech so I have a good understanding of the car and I also have access to wiring diagrams. Without that, I likely would not have been able to get this to work. The wiring for the backup camera was incorrect. I had to look through wiring diagrams for the car to figure out which wire was which. The 6 volt power supply wire for the camera was the only correct wire. The ground wire on this harness was on the video positive wire on the car side, the video positive wire was on the video negative wire, and the video negative wire was on the ground wire. This harness also does not function with the Harman Kardon audio system. It lacks the remote turn on wire for the amplifier. I had to de-pin the connector and rearrange the wires for the backup camera and I had to de-pin another harness that came with my order but lacked the backup camera wiring in order to provide a signal for the amplifier to turn on. Before doing this, the radio had no audio output and the backup camera was just a black screen. The average person will not have the resources or likely the technical knowledge to figure this out and make it work correctly. Once it is wired correctly, it works great.

Pros: Mostly correctly wired

Cons: no audio output or backup camera operation without modification.
