The great performance and sound quality are what I have come to expect from Pioneer. I highly recommend the Pioneer DMH-2660NEX to anyone who prefers sound quality.
Pros: Great sound quality. Fast response time. Built in 3-way crossover. Apple Car Play.
Cons: The Pioneer DMH-2660NEX does not come with complete users manual. You will need to access the manual via the internet.

Go with the Kenwood
Thomas from Sacramento, CA on 8/25/2023
2014 Toyota Tacoma
The HU was buggy. Shut down on it's own while sitting in reverse and didn't reboot. Giggled the ECU connector and then it rebooted. Got a mile down the road and was testing voice commands and it got stuck on stupid for a few minutes. Not sure if it's maestro rr or HU related. Crutchfield was great. Recommended the Kenwood DMX709S and they mailed it out before getting the old order back (replace and return). It was great. So far the Kenwood is great! No bugs, sounds great and has many features the pioneer was missing e.g. mini hdmi, ability to connect five phones via bluetooth vs two with the pioneer, comes with a face plate and satellite radio antenna and probably more. Have really dove in yet. Thanks Crutchfield. I appreciate the great customer service, cheers!
Pros: Average head unit
Cons: Kenwood DMX709S is much better.

After searching the internet for the ultimate auto AV receiver to replace my original 2007 car stereo at a reasonable price, I decided on the Pioneer DMH-2660NEX. This AV player had great reviews and the reviews from other buyers were on point. The receiver is loaded with features. I would recommend this AV receiver to anyone looking for a moderately priced quality radio replacement.
Pros: Easy installation, great product features!
Cons: Small volume control adjustment buttons on display but, the remote control can offer assistance to overcome the lack of size on display panel.

this was not my first pick my first choice kept freezing after owning a month and the customer support did everything they could to help me. When the radio was no longer able to be used the support team members pointed me to this radio and after 2 weeks I really love this unit it's very snappy and smooth and makes my stock speakers sound phenomenal. I would buy this head unit again very adjustable and you can customize quite a bit so if you like good clean sound this radio is a great one for the price. But if for any reason it isnt Crutchfield support team has your back they really do satisfy their customers ,
Pros: smooth transition,excellent sound,reasonable price

Calls are clear with the included microphone. Mated it with a backup camera. My only complaints are the screen is pretty hard to read in brigh sunlight, and booting up is a bit slow. Once booted the interface is snappy.

Karl from SEVIERVILLE, TN on 6/19/2023
2002 Chevrolet Suburban
Bought this to replace a 4200-NEX that I installed in 2014 in my Mazda that developed an intermittent pre-amp/DSP fault on the front left channel; it has the benefit of being directly harness and SWC-adapter compatible, so I needed nothing other than the head unit itself and the replacement took less than 15 minutes. This is the most-reasonable (in price) unit today from Pioneer that has time alignment and auto-EQ measurement. That makes a huge difference in sound quality and is almost-impossible to get right manually, so there you have it. Its a mech-less deck but today is that important? I think not. Takes a memory stick (and will read a SSD in a USB enclosure) as did the 4200. In the "annoying de-content" category it doesn't allow replacing the splash screen as the 4200 did. Not a big deal. I'm using a mild external amp and sub under the seat but have the same unit in my Suburban using the built-in amp. The only complaint I have is that the capacitive screen, being glossy, sometimes thinks you picked up your finger when you didn't -- the 4200 with older resistive tech and matte never did that. I'd like it if Pioneer released a firmware update that allowed setting the screen sensitivity to adjust that out, but otherwise I have no complaints. If they did that it would rate five stars, especially for the price. Format USB media as FAT32 and sort it on your PC to get sort order correct. Recommended.
Pros: Time alignment / Auto-EQ; FLAC compatible, will take up to 128Gb stick or SSD on the USB port, direct harness compatible with older (~10 years back) Pioneers so easy replacement if you had an older one.
Cons: Touch screen, being glossy, occasionally thinks you picked up your finger when you didn't (e.g. when scrolling.)

Could not be more pleased with the product, installation and support. Looks great and worked perfectly right out of the box. Didn't even have to adjust the equalizer. Installed in a 2005 Tahoe with the Bose system. Existing speakers, sub and amp seemed to be completely functional, so left them as is. Sound is fantastic. Look forward to installing the same system in my 2005 Avalanche. I had never installed a stereo or backup camera before, so was a little intimidated. But with the instructions from Crutchfield, the prewired harness and a phone call, could not have been easier. I would encourage anyone thinking about doing it themselves to go ahead. You will be more than pleasantly surprised. BTW - I read reviews all over about Pioneer products (over others) and very happy I went that route.

I spend a lot of time driving for work as a traveling audio engineer, and my music is what keeps me going. After years of grinning and bearing the hassles of my stock Toyota stereo, buttons failing, and then total malfunction and drop-outs, I decided it was time to upgrade. Crutchfield's site was easy to use, and helped me make my selection process a breeze with their compare feature. The Pioneer DMH-2660NEX was what I chose, and boy is it awesome! From the fully customizable appearance, swipable touchscreen, 12-band EQ, HD radio, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay - this stereo is exactly what I needed in my life. With navigation and Siri completely integrated through Apple CarPlay, my time behind the wheel is so much more enjoyable - whether on long road trips, or a trip around the corner. And, with Crutchfield's payment plan, I can still afford to fill up my tank!

Best Headunit for the price
Ash from Knoxville, TN on 3/21/2023
2007 Ford F-150
This Headunit is perfect for the enthusiast, it has great sound quality with a high signal to noise ratio where I never hear a hiss, such good controls for a apple car play/Android Auto headunit, time alignment is excellent on this unit, obviously it won't be like a real DSP's time alignment like a mosconi, JL, etc, but for a headunit it destroys every other companies out there. The equalizer is great too and although it is 13 bands, which is plenty, if you are wanting to adjust it further such as specific peaks and dips I recommend a DSP. It is a nice unit and has a ton of features like a TRUE capacitive 1080p display/touchscreen, high voltage pre outs, lots of audio controls, fast booting, lag free experience. I highly recommend this unit to anyone
Pros: Great features, lovely sound quality, excellent display
Cons: Fan kicks on in the unit and with no music playing you can hear is for a while but cools down.

Have bought 3-4 systems through Crutchfield over years and this was the most complete where I did not have to do any splicing/soldering. I had to make a call in the 11th hour to Tech Support about a couple issues that turned out to be me not installing a missing 4-pin data cable...which fell between seat and console. ;) Once I got that in place....tested and everything worked great. Got dark so finished up this morning with running microphone wire.....OBD2 port wire (to show vehicle statistics)......and then re-inserted into dash. Everything buttoned up nicely and no modifications or other massaging was needed for a clean fit. The adapter and other harnesses and modules, antennae cable converter, etc....all worked great including the pre-painted bezel trim to finish it off when installed. Now I finally have Android Auto in my 2016 Toyota Tundra Limited 4x4..... I was able to keep steering wheel controls, backup camera, HD Radio, USB connector on bottom of center dash column, etc. The only thing that would have made it perfect is a way to bypass or include the OEM microphone for hands free phone use instead of the remote bluetooth microphone. Otherwise, perfect package...Thank you.
Pros: - Capabilities - Sound quality - Fit/Finish
Cons: - no solution for OEM mic - wish would of preprogrammed Maestro before shipping

Quality Issues/Unreliable
Eddie from GETTYSBURG, PA on 1/30/2023
If this radio was more consistent, it'd be great. Let's start with the software issues. About once every week or week and a half, the head unit would turn on but nothing works. Android Auto music doesn't come through and remains paused. Even switching to the HD Radio, no stations come up. Once I pull over, turn off the car, and restart the car, everything is normal. Moving to the hardware issues, I don't know if it is an issue overall or a specific batch. The first head unit I received had a board issue with the RCA from the camera where you had to put pressure to the side to get a good contact for the video to show up. A replacement unit was sent and it worked great for 3 months. However, the video randomly stopped on this 2nd head unit and it's the same, if I push the cheap connector from the Crux camera to the left or down, the video shows up. The original and replacement units were both from the June 2022 manufacturing batch. Video works if you have a thick high quality connector that I tested from a game console but it stopped working randomly one day with the cheap connector from Crux without pressure on the connector to the head unit board. Love that I can hold a button to mute the radio when pulling up to a drive through. Android Auto and CarPlay works great when radio has everything running. Has easy button to switch between Pioneer radio and Android Auto/CarPlay without finding going to the menu to exit that mode. Just wish this was reliable.
Pros: Easy switching between Android Auto/CarPlay and HD Radio Mute Shortcut Custom Background Easy adjust of which audio level on the screen (music vs Navi) Clear mic conversations
Cons: Sensitive to cheap camera cables Software issues Deep body

Very disappointed. I've had several Pioneer receivers and this one does not measure up. My factory Ford unit sounded way better, clearer and more volume. The sound is muddled. I've adjusted the equalizer until my fingers were numb. Guess I should have ordered the Alpine I was considering. Oh well.

Cons: Sound quality

2016 Toyota Tacoma
I have really learned to hate this head unit. I bought a Sony unit and placed it my GTI...liked it, so I purchased another and placed it in my wife's Camry (both continue to perform flawless). For some reason I decided to try a Pioneer unit in my Tacoma. Ugh...just like in Indiana Jones..."he chose poorly". I put it in during the height of Covid so I was not driving much, but when I did, it would randomly reboot when I hit a pothole (or any bump in the road for the matter). Sometimes it would disconnect from Apple CarPlay for no reason and just stay with a black screen for a good 3-5 minutes before coming back online. I ended up sending it to Crutchfield for service and the internal USB board was found to be defective and was replaced. The software was blasted out and reprogrammed to address the rebooting issue. It worked well for a few months and then started up again and it has been hit or miss over the last year and I have just learned to live with it up until today. I hit a pothole while on the phone today and the unit decided that it was good time to reboot. I then found myself reaching for the phone to place it on speaker so that I can continue my conversation on the handset. I don't like driving down the highway reaching around for a phone so I decided that it was enough of this unit...I yanked it out and went back to factory. The basic stock radio from Toyota is an improvement over this thing.
Pros: Info from the OBD port to the radio is pretty neat
Cons: Reliability is terrible

Backup Camera Issues
Tony from ROSWELL, GA on 9/22/2022
2013 Nissan Altima
I have always loved Pioneer car stereos but this one has ended that. I have hooked everything up and the factory installed backup camera in my 2013 Nissan Altima will come on for 15 seconds then it goes black. You can still see the guide lines just no image. This has caused me a few moments of panic when I am reversing and then have to switch to using mirrors and looking over my shoulder. Unfortunatley Crutchfield have offered very vague and frustrating support which means I have had to pull the stereo out and reinstall 3 times and the latest suggestion include hooking the system up to another camera or hooking the camera up to another screen. Many may have the time and patience for that but not me. Will buy a different brand in future and also go to an installer to save the headaches.

2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Purchased this from another retailer. Installed in my 2015 Silverado along with the iDataLink Maestro RR and GM3 harness. The Maestro allowed me to retain my steering wheel controls, climate controls, vehicle data and OE vehicle controls and all are adjusted in the menus of this Pioneer unit. I have been running this for about 2 weeks and so far a couple of things have happened to me. First, the audio to my door speakers will randomly cut out completely. The signal to my subs is still there because they are still playing music, but nothing coming from the doors. Sometimes this lasts a second, sometimes a minute or two. I have isolated this down to something I did during installation. I retraced my steps and repositioned wires and it hasn't happened since. Second thing is that, when connected to CarPlay on my iPhone, once in a while the display will go to the phone and display the favorites from my contact list. There is no getting away from this screen. Any time you try to select something else, it immediately goes right back to the phone. The only way to correct the issue is to disconnect the phone and turn the vehicle off. Turn it back on and reconnect the phone-- the issue is resolved, until it decides to do it again. This could be one of two things: a programming issue in my Maestro, or that I'm on a Beta of iOS and some bug in the code is tripping out. I will be troubleshooting this in the next couple days. All in all, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stereo!
Pros: Sound. Features. iDataLink. Lots of inputs/outputs. Lots of customization. CarPlay!
Cons: In pitch dark, the display is a little bright, there is an option to turn the display off, but there should be an option to further dim it and not have to turn it off all together. I mean, it's not enough to really inhibit night drives, but it's definitely a little distracting.

Well, I got enough gift cards to finally purchase this for my Honda Pilot.. but.. it was December 2020, the chip shortage was in full effect, and these were no where to be found. Thankfully, a million days later, crutchfield finally got them back in stock (albeit more expensive). Crutchfield service was amazing as always and install was a breeze. I've had the unit freeze on my once, but besides that it has worked flawlessly. After installing I thought this was a mistake and a novelty item, but as I've used it more and more I've come to find that I love it as much as I knew I would all those months ago. Call quality is great, it pushes my stock speakers, and has even left me wanting aftermarket speakers along with amp. This wasn't my first pioneer head unit and won't be my last.

In my Subaru it replaced the stock unit with something modern that I could use Android Auto on and get SiriusXM with. Works great and sounds great with just the deck power going to stock speakers. Sounds better than the stock head unit did for sure. My only complaint with the Pioneer decks is the low charging power for the USB connection when using Android Auto. I'll be installing the next one in my Frontier in July.

The radio works smoothly and the sound is pretty good, but the unit freezes sometimes. Nothing serious, but you need to restart to fix it. Not a perfect unit, but very good for the price and way better than my OEM stereo
Pros: Easy to use Very responsive Integration is seamless

Love having Apple play and Bluetooth in my Supra now. Works pretty seamlessly most of the time. I have noticed a few times where it was not powering up or connecting was really delayed but it always worked itself out on its own unlike the OE radio in some of the newer Fords I've had where you had to turn the car off to re-sync. Added a basic backup camera to it as well that integrates flawlessly. Very happy with the purchase.

Great stereo
Eric from Yuma, TN on 4/18/2022
2014 Chevrolet Camaro
TL;DR - GREAT in 5th gen Camaro with two separate amps for cabin speakers and subwoofer. Great stereo. Touch input is very responsive compared to other full touch screen stereo's I've had. Works excellently with iDatalink and Android Auto. Charges phone at a decent speed while connected for Android Auto. The rear I/O options are fantastic. I could fill out the entire review with things I like about this stereo, but I'll just leave it at "recommended". The list of things I don't like is way shorter than the list of things I do like: - I don't like the crossover tuning screen. I can't figure out how to set it spot on the settings I want. The crossover tuning is the worst part of the touchscreen input of the entire system. Manually setting individual equalizer bars is also a bit spotty, but nowhere near as bad as the crossover tuning screen. - This one is pretty minor, as I do not know if other Android Auto units can even do this, but it would be nice to be able to manually move the song progress bar to move back and forth inside a song, like I can with the Android app. - My previous iDatalink compatible stereo (JVC) had more OBD information and more screen configuration options available. However, in my particular application this Pioneer also has climate controls integrated to replace the factory stereo faceplate control knobs. There's pros and cons for this unit in regards to the iDatalink setup, but overall it's definitely good - and the climate contr

I Like It
Daniel from N Massapequa, NY on 3/16/2022
I like it! I think you get a lot of functionality for the price from a trusted brand. Screen is responsive and generally looks nice and clear. Certain screens, most notably the navigation/maps with android auto could look better, but it's not a deal breaker for me. (The maps' screen colors look a bit off and the lines aren't super sharp). HD fm stations sound very good and this receiver has put new life into the stock speakers. I like how easy it is to switch the eq also. I didn't have OEM backup camera,so I can't comment on that. Some minor negatives: -Unit takes longer to boot up than I would like, but that's not a huge deal -Android auto also takes a bit of time to load, but I've experienced that in OEM systems also. -It seems like audio from my Bluetooth calls only plays from the rear speakers (not sure of there is a setting I am missing) -There's no hands free dialing unless you use Apple Car Play. Overall, I'm happy. The age of my vehicle and the original equipment mean this is a definite upgrade, but some of the negatives I pointed out keep me from giving 5 stars.
Pros: Responsive. Good sound from HD radio and generally improved sound overall.
Cons: Color and screen clarity isn't amazing. Long boot up time. Other little quirks listed above.

DMH 2660NEX fits 3rd gen 4Runners
Nick from Texas on 2/3/2022
2002 Toyota 4Runner
At the time of this review, the product was out of stock with no expected return date. I had called Crutchfield the week prior and while on the phone with Felicia, the last item was sold. Crutchfield lists that the DMH-2660NEX will "not" fit into a 2002 4runner; however, after talking with Felicia, she stated that if I removed the factory amplifier (which is no longer needed with this unit), it should fit just fine. I ended up finding it at another retailer and placed my order before they sold out too. I really wanted to order through Crutchfield so I could take advantage of them wiring the Pioneer and Metra harnesses together. I ended up wiring the harnesses together with the Posi-Tite product, which worked very well. The only remaining issue I had was a blue/white wire labeled as "System Remote" from the Pioneer harness and a solid blue wire on the Metra. I called Felicia and told her I had tried to find the answer online, but there were conflicting recommendations. I wasn't sure if Crutchfield would help me since I didn't order the radio through them, but Felicia said she would help. She took the time, escalated my question, and informed me that I needed to connect the two wires together. My power antenna would raise up when the head unit was on, and no longer lower when I switched to streaming services. The antenna will lower when the vehicle or head unit are turned off, allowing me to go thru a car wash. Excellent service, expert advice . and one happy customer!
Pros: Excellent quality Easy installation Crisp/updated look and feel
Cons: No clear instructions provided to wire system remote and power antenna wires together.

Recent purchase of a Pioneer DMH-2660NEX
Crutchfield customer from Dexter, MI on 1/4/2022
Purchased this item from Pioneer because I have used other car decks from them in the past and really liked them. This new unit was rated well, had the features I wanted most like Apple Car Play, HD tuning, USB, and was Sirius/XM compatible. Also liked the large, clear screen. I waited a bit for the unit to come back in stock, and then purchased it when it did. Crutchfield told me it would arrive in two days, and it was delivered just like they promised on Christmas Eve. For the price, it has a lot of upscale features and I am looking forward to using it for many years to come.
Pros: Really nice unit for the price point.

There are plenty of options with this radio. Overall I really like it. The only reason I didn't give it a five star is it is a bit slow to get booted up when you first start your car making it useless for a backup camera unless you are someone who waits for a minute after you start your car to leave. CarPlay works awesome. I'm not a huge fan of having to plug in my phone every time I get in the car for it to work so for quick trips it's a hassle and the radio itself without CarPlay feels kinda cheap. Overall I'm happy with it
Pros: CarPlay. Options to customize the features you use regularly
Cons: Lag time in loading. Not a huge fan of the controls outside of CarPlay

Severely dislike this product. Purchased two for both cars and have had multiple issues. Even without the issues I wouldn't like the radio. Great head unit and glad I waited for it to come back in stock. I had this professionally installed by a shop I found on Crutchfield's website. :). They installed this using a metra wiring harness and also had them install a SiriusXM tuner. The stock speakers sound better which I wasn't expecting! For 2015 Honda Accord Coupe owners, I am happy to report by using Metra I retained all my vehicle settings, including the cameras. Replaced my factory 2006 Scion xB head unit with this modern one. The difference is stunning. It has at least twice the output power (not using an amp) of the factory unit, so it can get much louder without distortion. I am running 6x Focal Auditor series 4-ohm drivers (2 sets in parallel) and a Focal under-seat amplified subwoofer. This head unit is so feature-rich is blows my mind. Time Alignment is amazing and the EQ flexibility is great. CarPlay works flawlessly with my ancient iPhone 6S Plus. Spotify, maps, everything just works awesome. Finally found the perfect stereo display for me
Ralph B from PENSACOLA, FL on 7/28/2021
The user interface is simple and is aesthetically pleasing. Touchscreen is very quick to respond. Trying to scroll using the touchscreen is awkward but Pioneer includes a remote which eliminates this problem. This unit can play all of the major music formats, including .m4a I like to buy music from iTunes, put it on my usb flash drive and connect it to the usb port. I'm appalled so many other manufacturers have products that cannot play that file format. The file format has been around since the early 2000s. Props to Pioneer for making a unit that can play a wide variety of audio file formats. I can also skip folders when playing music when using a usb flash drive. A 100% must have for me. This rather minor feature is worth the price tag for this unit. My previous fancy touchscreen stereo display did not allow me to do that. NO OTHER manufacturer makes a touchscreen stereo unit that has this feature. You can skip folders using the screen and the remote. So I can safely skip folders searching for music I want to listen to while driving. So thank you Pioneer for allowing me to skip folders and play .m4a files. You cannot comprehend how much this means to me.
Pros: Can play any and all major music formats Touchscreen is responsive and quick Remote is nice and the unit responds quickly to it You can skip folders when playing music through a usb flash drive using the touchscreen and the remote
Cons: No front USB Reverse light wire is rather short

Not happy. Unit was a big improvement from the AVH-3600 I had before UNTIL, one day out of the blue, the Bluetooth audio only goes through the tweeters. Nothing was changed, but the unit started this. Siri and calls sound like tinny trash. It isn't the network speaker settings either. The tech and I went through this and even reset the unit to factory. Twice. No dice. We tried different phones too. Not the phone. It'll stream audio ok from Bluetooth and if you are on Bluetooth you can hear navigation fine.sometimes. Depends on the mood it's in. So it's a software issue of some kind. Other sources including Siri and CarPlay is trash. Tinny distorted, basically inaudible and worthless. It's funny because the speakers aren't wired that way anyway. So i spent an hour on the phone with Crutchfield and while the tech was helpful but the supervisors didn't seem interested in swapping the radio even though it wasn't even 6 months old and advised me to talk to the absolutely clueless morons at Pioneer service that tested me like I was an idiot that had never installed a head unit before and basically told me that they couldn't do a thing other than tell me to ship it back to them and wait probably months for it to be fixed. Feel I got totally shafted on this and I'm not happy. My radio is worthless for anything other than music. If that was the case I'd happily put the 12 year old stock unit back in and forget this. Extremely disappointed in tutus experience.
Pros: Nice radio. Pretty interface. Sounds good. Easy to use.
Cons: Bluetooth audio for calls sounds like trash. As does CarPlay. Worthless.

I jumped on the limited supply and don't regret it. The screen is responsive and as with all Pioneer decks, there are many customization settings. The sound quality is great too with plenty of EQ settings. I prefer to use this as a bluetooth audio player rather than through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, so I haven't used those. It does have a Spotify app that seems to work well. I have not had any issues yet. I was also able to keep my steering wheel controls which is great. There is a small amount of clunkiness, but nothing more than every other double din touch screen unit I've tried. Overall, this is a great aftermarket deck and I have no complaints. It worked perfectly with the adapter and dash kit recommended by Crutchfield. I prefer this one to the Pioneer 1400NEX which I installed previously with the silver trim. I am very happy with this purchase.
Pros: Responsive touch screen Many customization settings including wallpapers and colors Looks clean when installed Plenty of extra features Comes with a remote
Cons: Limited Supply Somewhat expensive

Great Features

Great improvement over my old factory headunit, with Bluetooth and Apply CarPlay and Android Auto added. I selected this headunit because there are no clunky or tiny knobs on the face, just a smooth touchscreen. I was able to easily connect up all the wiring with Crutchfield's customized instructions. So many new features that I'm still sorting them out! I have had an issue trying to set up the rear view parking camera options, as the Parking Assist Guidelines Adjustment doesn't seem to be enabled with my setup. That's only an issue because my camera angle makes the default guidelines football goalpost height instead of on the ground. NOTE: I was gong to skip the Parking Brake Switch wire hookup since it is only stated as controlling video play on the screen and I won't use that feature so the effort to route the wire seemed a waste. However, Android Auto requires it to confirm initial setup, something not discussed in any instructions for the headunit or Android Auto, that I read. Once I did hook up that wire, all worked fine.
Pros: Simple wiring Loaded with features: Touchscreen Bluetooth Android Auto Apple CarPlay SiriusXM ready
Cons: Wiring Parking Brake switch Parking Assist Guidelines Adjustment not intuitive

Great stereo and highly recommended
Russ from COLLEGEVILLE, PA on 7/7/2021
2008 Jeep Wrangler
Great stereo! I waited a long time for this to come back in stock. Installed in 2008 Jeep Wrangler. I had to remove the metal bracket that is behind the stock stereo (there are two bolts holding the bracket and then you need to use a pliers to bend the bracket so that you can pull it out through the opening). Wiring and installation went very well. I also installed the Crux CCH-01M backup camera on the Jeep at the same time. That install also went really well. Overall the stereo is fantastic and the backup camera is excellent (day and night). The 'active' guide lines are not very useful, but the lines themselves are very useful (i.e., would be fine with just straight lines). CarPlay is excellent and it's such an upgrade from the stock stereo. I went with this model because I wanted HD Stereo which is really nice but I have to admit I won't be tuning in very often since the CarPlay works so well. FM stations come in more clearly (analog or digital) with the Pioneer than the stock radio (much more static in the stock radio). Also my son complained (a lot) about the speakers in the Jeep... after installing the Pioneer, we both agreed they sound great now with the new stereo - no need to upgrade the speakers. Super happy!

Purchased with installation kit (wiring and mount) and installed backup camera. Easy install and was completed in an afternoon. Awesome sound and stereo is easy to navigate. Highly recommend to anyone searching for a mid-range head unit. Android Auto was a must and for the price and I'm not sure this one can be beat. Crutchfield had all accessories ready at checkout and shipping was fast.
Pros: Easy to navigate Great sound with my stock speakers Android auto is a must

Love being able to completely control my Google phone in the dash and see check engine light codes. All the Volkswagen adapters are almost the same price as the head unit but well worth it getting it all put together. I used the prewire service from crutchfield and it made installation a breeze! Currently running two external amplifiers and still have great EQ, filter, and output adjustments in the head unit. Time alignment works amazing as I am very tall and speakers are so far from my head in a full size sedan. The Bluetooth works great and the included mic is above average quality.
Pros: Android auto, great speaker/subwoofer controls, amazing factory integration with the right adapter.
Cons: Haven't found anything wrong with my unit in the 10 months I've been running it.

This was a huge upgrade for me. I wanted a car that acted like those rental cars I kept using but wasn't willing to spend money on a new car. This added functionality and great sound. I'm extremely pleased with it. Worth every penny. And it's not wireless Carplay and I prefer that. My daughter can plug her phone in as easily as I do mine, with no need to fuss with Bluetooth.

Installed in my 2006 Frontier. I have tested both CarPlay and Android Auto and both response quickly. The interface is easy to use and clean. The sound is great with factory speakers. I love the button adjustable illumination color to match my cars interior. The buttons are quick to respond as well despite it not being physical. Now I know this is not an HD resolution stereo, but my only complaint is that for both CarPlay and Android Auto, the interface is not as sharp looking (especially the icons) as the stock Pioneer interface. But for the price and features it's a great head unit

This is a great all around receiver, with excellent sound quality. The ability to run an automatic sound test and adjustment (just like a home theater system) is a bonus! The 13 band EQ and the ability to save 2 custom EQ settings is great. The CarPlay and android auto works perfectly.
Pros: Sound quality CarPlay Android Auto USB Bluetooth Dual camera input Separate volumes for music and guidance Custom screens and button colors Lightweight unit
Cons: A couple of sections in the owner's manual were a little bit vague. Otherwise, none so far.

Perfect fit to my 2006 Silverado with minor modifications to rear of dashboard opening. Great sound, looks, and with the Apple Car Play, navigation and phone calls are simple. I ordered the wire harness kit which made for very easy wiring and almost a plug and play installation. With the new head unit and backup camera it's like a new pickup. The customer service and technical support offered by Crutchfield was above and beyond my expectations. Overall extremely happy with my purchase.

Exception value and loaded with features!
Crutchfield customer from San Antonio, TX on 5/26/2021
I really like the Pioneer DMH-2660NEX. It is loaded with features and is a great value. The HD radio and Idatalink Maestro compatibility were 2 reasons I chose this model. The display is very responsive but the boot up time is a little long. This is mainly due the the safety disclaimer that pops up every time you start the car. Apple Car Play works great. Menus are intuitive and well thought out. Hand free calling sounds great. Due to shortages from the pandemic, I was unable to buy a "new" version of this radio so my radio was a scratch and dent from the Crutchfield outlet. It looks new to me so I am thrilled. Really good unit for the money.
Pros: Pioneer quality and lots of features at a great price.
Cons: A little slow to boot up.

Great upgrade from older Pioneer unit
Gregory A from Parker, Colorado on 5/2/2021
2009 Nissan Frontier SE
I purchased this to replace an older Pioneer unit in my 2009 Nissan Frontier. Since it uses the same wiring harness and same connections as the older unit (confirmed this with Crutchfield tech support help before I bought) install took about 10 minutes. Works well and gives me all I need. Only issue I had was that they sent me instructions on how to install in a Honda Ridgeline...??? In any case, I am very happy with the result and would buy again.
Pros: Used the same harness as older unit (circa 2010 unit) Install in less than 10 minutes Sounds great Seems like a solid unit
Cons: Glare from the sun makes the screen almost unusable at certain angles/times of the day

Perfect upgrade!
Evelyn from WAKE FOREST, NC on 4/12/2021
2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee
My 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee came from the factory with a basic satellite radio/CD player and a 30-pin iPod connector, so when I got an iPod touch I decided it was finally time to upgrade the receiver to a touchscreen model. Installation wasn't bad; I was intimidated at the mention of subdash modification, but a good hacksaw made that a breeze. (You'll definitely want some trim panel tools though!) I haven't missed the CD player at all! Thanks to the iDatalink Maestro SAT1 adapter, I was able to connect the factory SiriusXM antenna to a new tuner (SXV300V1), which greatly improved my satellite radio experience with more channels, more presets, and pause/skip functions. The iPod connectivity has been great, but the unit is a bit slow to index my library. Phone connectivity, whether through Bluetooth or USB, is great; while I had intended to mostly use Bluetooth, the Android Auto features have been a nice treat. I actually had fun setting up the iDatalink Maestro Interface; I did have to completely disable UConnect, as it interfered with Bluetooth for some reason. HD Radio functionality was something I wasn't expecting, but I've found that it's a nice feature. I've also enjoyed customizing the vehicle information displayed from the OBD connector incorporated into the harness. I'm puzzled by the included remote; it seems like it was designed for a unit with a DVD player, and most of the buttons don't work with this unit. Overall though, this has been a great upgrade experience!
Pros: feature-packed, attractive unit; surprisingly easy to install
Cons: remote control lacks functionality

Not as good as a stock chevy unit
John David from MADISON, AL on 2/24/2021
2004 Jeep Wrangler
I bought this HU as part of a total system upgrade in my 2004 Jeep Wrangler. The goal was to have a Carplay unit for handsfree phone access, but improve sound quality too. The system included a Pioneer DMH-2660NEX head unit, 5-1/4" Kenwood KFC-1396PS in speaker pods up front, 6-1/2" Kenwood KFC-1696 in the overhead sound pods, and the Soundstream RSM4.1200D 75Wx4 amp. The goal of a Carplay upgrade was successful. The Pioneer unit, while not as nice as the stock unit in my other car, does the job. But an improvement in sound didn't happen. I replaced an old 14W Kenwood HU with factory speakers and a 6-1/2 factory sub. I figured I wouldn't need a replacement sub since the two factory speakers overhead (5-1/4 stock) were being replaced with 6-1/2 drivers. Each driver is the same size as my old subwoofer with specs down to 40Hz and 35Hz, so with 75W going to each I should be golden. Wrong! The 14W Kenwood with stock speakers blows away this 75W system. It is literally like listening to a slightly loud clock radio. Horrible! I don't know if it's the amp or the speakers, but together they don't work. And in case you're wondering, I used an install kit by Crutchfield, rated for this amp, and matched the amp gain with a meter. At 75% volume set the amp out on a 1kHz test tone to 17.32V. At this point I don't know whether to add a powered sub or just trash the whole thing and start over. I'm over $800 into this system and it's no better than stock. Stay away from these components!
Pros: Handsfree phone
Cons: Dim display. Difficult controls without looking at unit.
