Vibration and fan/buzzing noise
Eric from FARMINGTON, NY on 2/27/2025
I installed my first DMH-WC5700NEX and it worked fine for a couple of years. Then it started sounding like there was a piece of paper hitting a fan blade and I could feel a vibration coming from the unit itself. The noise was not coming through the speakers, it was coming from the unit. I was sent a replacement unit and it has worked for a couple of years, but now it is making the same type of noise and the vibration is worse than before. I called Pioneer and they only suggested I send it to their repair shop. I don't really want to put any more time or money into this unit.
Pros:
Cons: Same problem on 2 different units.

Took out after a year of despair
Fred from Ontario, Canada on 12/29/2024
How this thing as 4.5 starts is a real mystery to me. The UI let you swipe the home screen up-down-left-right to get to "shortcuts screens" or long press to start customizing the tiles so when your driving and press a command on the home screen and your finger slide off by one micron, because you are in a moving vehicle, you end up somewhere else or if you accidentally touch it one millisecond too long now you end up customizing a tile. NOT SAFE NOT USEFUL If you are using remote start you will need to manually connect your phone every time you get in. Auto connect works fine if you are in the car at boot up, always had a solid connection. The lag is probably the worst part of it all, sometimes needs to wait 2-3 seconds before the screen respond to simple press of the "connectivity button" or any other button.. Capacitive button are finicky to use borderline useless. Too many features and no processing power to run them. I also had many freeze up that would give me a blank screen with a microphone icon in one corner that would need me pull over get in park, turn off the car, open the door to kill the ACC power. (Putting a switch on the ACC for my next install, never know} Sound quality was good, sitting position DSP really bring the soundstage to you. Setting menu is also fine, just get a bit blurry when getting deep in there. Crutchfield service is great, needed help with menu, could not get back to a camera setting that i just change.
Pros: Sound quality Solid phone connection DSP preset Crutchfield tech support
Cons: UI Lag Auto Phone connection expires after boot Ugly screen layout Over customization NO processing power

Unusable at 13 months.
Forrest from Oklahoma City, OK on 12/13/2024

Android Auto would randomly reboot every 30 minutes or so when new but it wasn't worth it to replace it. Now after 13 months audio stutters and cuts out horribly 4/5 times I drive the car. Verified its the headunit because if you pause the audio it keeps playing and stuttering for a second or so until the audio buffer is emptied. Occasionally hard freezes and requires restarting the car to use it again. Waste of $$$ and never buying pioneer again.

Hate this unit. I have never had a device so glitchy. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. I have to pull over and restart vehicle to get it back on. Switching from one device to another will cause his thing to lock up. Sometimes it looses the sub output and sound quality to the front and rear speakers. Connection to iphone blows.

Ryan from Philadelphia , PA on 5/12/2024

2004 corvette installation. Fabricated aluminum angle brackets to mount into factory location and use original bezel. I still had to drill out the factory center brace rivets and remove the brace to have enough space for this unit. It can be bolted back in if originality is preferred later on down the road. The small gaps on LH and RH of unit were filled with custom made plastic filler plates. Infinity Kappa component (front) 12" sub rear, and mid mount are 5 1/4" Kappa 2-way. Best sounding system I've had and I love the head unit's display and ease of use. Crutchfield made it a breeze locating the power antenna, VSS, light dinner wires, etc. I still need to ask them how to power off the head unit so I can go through a car and keep the antenna retracted.
Pros: Clean, easy to use, easy to install, Crutchfield team and documentation made everything a breeze. Sound and screen function is the best I've used.
Cons: Ease to find a power off feature.

Worst Pioneer Ever Made
John from Richmond, Virginia on 4/4/2024
2009 Ford Ranger
There is no way this stereo has a five star rating. If you use this deck with an IPhone you can give up getting it to operate correctly. Crutchfield customer service has been awesome, even sent me a second deck. But as far as this Pioneer head unit it WILL NOT consistently allow you to have use of CarPlay. This deck WILL NOT allow you to connect to the Internet. This deck WILL NOT recognize you are connected via Bluetooth despite your phone telling you that you are. Even when plugged in via USB this deck rarely recognizes the iPhone. Been almost a year and I just pulled it out and replaced it with a cheap head unit that works flawlessly. Seriously there needs to be a class auction lawsuit against Pioneer for these higher priced decks. Again Nothing against Crutchfield here they have been 100% awesome in trying to solve this Pioneer head unit/CarAVassist app issue with me.
Pros: Sounds decent when all the functions work.
Cons: Doesn't work to full function more often than it does.

Crutchfield Rocks!
Timothy J from BELLFLOWER, CA on 11/18/2023
I was not happy with the JVC I originally ordered. The return process was easy and fast. In the meantime the replacement Pioneer unit and cables were shipped quickly. The user interface on the Pioneer is much better, as is the user the manual. The installation went well and contacting Crutchfield support was fast and easy. The only cons seem related to our vehicle, 2021 Honda Civic LX. The backup camera view only showed the fisheye view, and video would cut out intermittently. This seems to be an issue with the Honda, not Crutchfield's wiring harness. In the end, I took the car to a nearby stereo installer and they confirmed they also could not stabilize the rear camera angle and intermittent problem. They installed an aftermarket rear camera and all is great with the new unit. My wife is really enjoying the new features and now has Android Auto capabilities in her Civic LX. Wetzel from customer support was fantastic to work with throughout the entire process!

A few minor flaws but love it overall
Lindsay from Amherst, MA on 7/7/2023
I've had this unit for over a year now. The ability to use CarPlay wirelessly in my 2015 Accord has been a game changer. I sometimes have an issue where I get a notification that the "speed sensor is detached" and shortly afterwards my map will get wonky. This may be more of an installation issue and it has been less prevalent since I got the iPhone, but it's still a pain when it happens. My only other complaint is that I didn't realize I would lose all my physical knobs and dials upon installation- changing the volume with just the steering wheel controls is annoying when I need to do so quickly.

Great sound, flexible mounting.
John from Blevins, AR on 5/16/2023
2011 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class
Changing out the head unit in a 2011 Mercedes SLK350 from the factory COMAND unit to this one. Not the easiest install I've done, by far, won't even get into the harness fun needed to keep the SWC working (which is mandatory in this car, they do a lot more than just volume and station control, which ran thru the factory head unit). This unit fit perfectly, the flexibility of the mounting system made it a breeze. Functionally it's fantastic. Takes some time to learn how to get around on it, and that can be frustrating, doing 70MPH while yelling "Why is this thing doing that???". But once the basics are learned, just a glance at it and you know where to touch the screen. I now have a DMH series in two cars and a truck, this SLK, a 2014 Camry, and a 2016 Tacoma. They are different models but most touch controls are similar, so that's helpful. There are more input and outputs on this than I'll ever need, but it's nice knowing they're there should I move it to another vehicle someday and want them. Despite the RMS output (average at best) it sounds quite nice, the EQ actually can make a difference in the sound. I'm pretty happy with it and will continue to buy Pioneer, and of course from Crutchfield.
Pros: Very flexible mounting options. Tons of inputs and outputs. Sounds great!
Cons: On-screen navigation can be very confusing, frustrating.

Terrible user interface
Mark from NEWARK, DE on 4/17/2023
I love the functionality of being able to use MagSafe charger and connecting to the wirelessly. However, the user interface of the Pioneer unit is terrible. I can only control the volume through the steering wheel controls and the user interface has significant lag. Not sure what the '+' and '-' on the touch display are supposed to do, but they don't seem to do anything - they certainly do not control the volume. I tap on the steering wheel control to skip ahead and there's almost a 2 second delay before anything happens. The unit also gets into some sort of mode where it only displays the app that's playing via CarPlay, such as Overcast. I found through trial and error that if I hit the voice control on the steering wheel for Siri that I can get the CarPlay menu back. Overall, not happy at all with the unit and would not recommend it.
Pros: Wifi connection for Car Play is awesome.
Cons: Very slow user interface. Non-intuitive user interface. User interface gets stuck in weird modes. Volume can only be controlled on the steering wheel.

While the technical staff at Crutchfield is AWESOME!, I must say I am disappointed with the product. It is advertised through Pioneer as Alexa capable. However, after phone calls to Crutchfield AND Pioneer, I found the radio only connects with Alexa if one has "personal hotspots" through their cellular service. I don't. And to change my cell plan would cost significantly more per month. Sadly, my old factory radio would allow for an auxiliary connection to the Alexa car device. This radio won't let me do that. Fair warning to you all. This is NOT mentioned in the publications for the Pioneer Nex car radios.??
Pros: Nice screen
Cons: Not enough apps through car play offered. Not Alexa friendly.

I had a friend of mine install this and it's a huge upgrade over my old Pioneer head unit. Jam packed with features (a nice chunk of which I'm never going to use), a great screen, a remote to help offset the "which part of the screen am I touching while I'm driving?" issue (I mostly use it for volume control and song skipping), and the ability to manage a nice chunk of the head unit from a linked Android phone (firmware, screen layout, etc).
Pros: Easy to setup, looks great, sounds fantastic, works with everything I want to hook up to it.
Cons: Android Auto is glitchy in certain rural areas regardless of wired or wireless.

Amazing Unit to replace Toyota Entune System
Brien from Frederick, MD on 1/7/2023
2019 Toyota Tundra
Really ended up being the perfect replacement for my 2019 Tundra 1794 edition. The package that is sold on crutchfield required no slicing. Just make sure to get the ACC-HU-PIO1 with everything. Its just straight plugging in everything from there. A few tips for anyone looking to install in a Tundra since I don't really see much out there on this: 1. The USB and Microphone that come with the Pioneer can run straight down to the factory USB slot. You can remove the factory USB which leaves a very convenient opening for both without having to mod anything. 2. If you use Maestro, just be ready to run the ODB connector through the side, down under the steering column. I recommend having some kind of cable runner if you are going to do this. its easy with one, but I would think this would be a nightmare otherwise and seems to be the neatest way to run the cable without modification and still hiding everything. Other than the two steps above, the install is amazingly simple, without any need for splicing. My Entune died within a year of having the Tundra and I refuse to trust Toyota to replace the head unit themselves. The unit is crap anyway. The WC5700NEX improves my sound, has Apple Car Play, and just does everything better.
Pros: One big pro is the size of the unit. The design makes it much easier to deal with cable management when putting everything back together. You don't need to shove cables around and pray nothing gets caught. Another is the ability to put it all together without the need to splice anything. Maybe I am old, but this is the first time I was able to just plug it all together and drive off. There are plenty more, but lastly I will put sound quality and Apple Play as the last big PROs
Cons: If anything, its just that you can't use factory USB connection and microphone with this system. It doesn't bother me at all, but know you are going to have a USB C cable running somewhere from the unit if you want plug and play. Otherwise, I have only had it hooked up for a few hours but all seems far supperior to the junk Toyota installed originally.

Simply the Best!

If you are looking for one of the best Head Units, look no further. The Pioneer DMH-WC5700NEX is one of the best aftermarket Android Auto/Car Play units on the market. Pretty much has every bell and whistle you could ask for. I highly recommend paying the $25 to have Crutchfield wire the Harness. They made installing this unit along with a iDatalink Maestro RR and SiriusXM SV300 pretty much plug and play. The hardest part of the entire install was taking the dash apart and removing the old factory radio. Having wired or wireless ANdroid Auto/Apple Car play is awesome. HD Radio is another huge plus along with USB-C (instead of the older USB-A). Love the single din chassis along with the double din face. Tons of room after removing the factory double din radio.
Pros: Wireless and wired Android Auto HD Radio USB-C HDMI Input Great Sound Responsive Touch Screen Loads of features

The good - sounds great, XM and HD radio are both very clear. The screen is nice and easy to read, relatively good response. I replaced a DMH-1500NEX with this but I have to say the 1500 seems to be a bit more solid software wise. Wireless carplay works until you step out of the car for a second, the buttons on the left side are VERY unresponsive unless you hit them just right and I didn't see any means to calibrate them. When going between carplay and XM or radio it always brings you back to the home screen instead of directly to the source. Other than those minor issues, happy with it.

Installed in a 2017 Subaru Outback. Be sure to buy the Maestro PIO1 wiring harness - it does not show on Crutchfield as an option for this stereo but it should. It works great and made it so I only had to attach one wire - the blue antenna wire. Everything else was plug and play. It should be noted that you must keep the STARLINK/Eyesight unit (black box on bottom on factory stereo) wired up - don't remove it or you won't get any front channel audio. I was able to use the factory mounting bracket to install the stereo - no need for any of the new brackets. But, you will need some washers and a piece of weather striping to securely attach the stereo faceplate to the Metra dash kit. The weather stripping fills in a small gap along the bottom of stereo screen. Looks ok, as long as you get the right stripping.
Pros: Easy install if you buy the optional iDatalink Maestro module/harnesses and the PIO1 harness. Beautiful screen. CarPlay works perfectly.
Cons: No hardware to attach stereo faceplate to Metra dash kit. Spent an hour on the phone with technician trying to figure out why front channels weren't working - solution was to keep STARLINK.

Functionality wise I like almost everything about this receiver but there are a few things to be aware of for installation. I thought the small size of this thing would make installation easier but my car had a large double din receiver with a bottom mount in the back. This Pioneer receiver is not as long (deep) as the stock one, so there was no way to attach that bottom bracket to the pioneer, so it's kind of resting on the bracket (see photo). There was also a minor issue with the Pioneer screen not being as tall as the Metra Mazda dash kit, so there were gaps (see photo) that I had to fill up with some foam gasket stuff. Other than that everything went smoothly with the install and I have the rear backup cam and steering wheel controls working the same as the stock radio. Wireless Carplay is super convenient not having to plug in every time I get in the car, but every once in a while playback stutters a little. Also when first starting the car, the music starts playing over Carplay for like 5 seconds and then stops, and I have to manually hit play again, maybe there's a setting or something to fix that but it's annoying.
Pros: Nice display, interface design is sleek
Cons: Screen height gap, wireless Carplay stutters sometimes

I installed this in a 2016 Tundra Double Cab with SR5 trim; I installed with a new XM radio (using factory antenna), GPS (using factory antenna), steering wheel controls, factory backup cam, and vehicle menu. This means that I kept all existing functionality and gained all the features of a new radio: Comments: 1. This head unit does Android Auto wireless nicely; simply get in the car and go -- it will connect wirelessly and start your Android Auto. 2. The unit itself does what it needs to do, well. I wish the screen was a little bigger but I could have paid more for that. 3. I highly recommend getting Crutchfield to build the harness for you because it saves time. 4. I had one issue getting steering wheel controls to work; a quick call to Customer Service fixed that (great service!!) 5. I wish I had known that I could use factory GPS and XM antenna's -- so check if those are available before purchasing and buy the factory to radio antenna adapter kit. Good purchase and was easier to install than I expected!

Bought this to replace the stock head unit in a 2014 Rav4. This was my first in a car with steering wheel controls, so an interface is required to maintain use of them. Glad I bought everything from Crutchfield, as I had a few questions during the install. Crutchfield's tech support answered quickly and got me going every time. So, it's installed, looks great, sounds great and everything works. Far superior to the stock unit. Here's the big rub. I bought it for the WIRELESS Android auto feature. Wired worked fine, but I didn't want to have to plug in my phone every time I got in the car. Turns out, if you don't have a Pixel phone, getting wireless to work is not easy. Spent 2 days searching the internet for a solution. Found it, changed a secret setting in my phone, and like magic, it starts working. Android Auto launches automatically when the radio boots, no need to touch the phone. Now, it will read texts to you, allow you to compose and send a text, make a phone call, search for an address and more - all hands free using voice commands. Very nice, and exactly what I wanted. My only complaint now is that I wish Pioneer had made the home screen display options more flexible, but that's a very minor gripe. I personally like Pioneer, and I like this unit a lot, but if you don't care about android auto functionality, there are cheaper options. For me, this is a very nice unit, and with wireless android auto working, it is fantastic.
Pros: So much better than the stock unit. Steering wheel controls, stock usb and aux ports work. It can read folders on usb drive, can shuffle songs, and even remembers where it left off. All simple things that the stock unit could not do. Display is clearer, music sounds better, even phone calls sound better. Love the functionality of wireless Android Auto.
Cons: Wish the engineers would build voice command functionality directly into their head units so that android auto or alexa wasn't required. Needs a non-glare screen. Why do car engineers always angle the faces up, creating perfect opportunity for blinding glare? Why does Pioneer put a sticker on the face that leaves residue ? Needs a very thin something to put between faceplate edge and dash bezel to prevent squeaking.

Wow, what a difference in the sound. I was concerned that I would need to upgrade the factory speakers in my 2016 F250, but nope, this HU makes them sound great. BlueTooth and CarPlay work great and fast. There is a little delay in the steering wheel controls, like a faction of a second compared to the factory radio, but I don't even notice it anymore. Install was relatively easy, other than I didn't know I needed to use an adapter that came with the wiring harness, which caused me to consult with tech support. It did take a few calls to get it figured out, but I was very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of the techs. My only complaint is that with my truck model, the backup camera is in the rear view mirror, and this kit didn't include the wire to tap into that.
Pros: Amazing sound, user friendly controls, intuitive layout, and great wireless BlueTooth and carplay. My phone hooks up automatically and picks right up where I left off.

Love the Wireless CarPlay
Scott from Dupont, WA on 6/5/2022
2016 Chevrolet Cruze
Overall I like this unit. The wireless CarPlay works great. The sound is night and day better than the factory unit in my '16 Cruze. The touch screen is very responsive. The CarAVAssist was a little challenging to get working. I was not able to get the firmware updated over my phone. I had to put the new firmware on a USB thumb drive and update it that way. I miss the physical volume knobs, but those are becoming extinct.
Pros: Wireless CarPlay works great and connects immediately. Sound is greatly improved over factory stereo. Touchscreen is responsive and looks good.
Cons: CarAVAssist is not intuitive or user friendly.

Excellent Head Unit with Wireless Android Auto/Carplay
Chris from OWASSO, OK on 5/4/2022
I love this head unit, the body of it being a single DIN is so small I was surprised. It allows multiple configurations for placement of the screen away from the HU body. Using the provided brackets with it I mounted it directly to the body and then mounted this into my forester. Crutchfield recommended using Scosche SU2029B Dash Kit for my 2014 Forester, however it had a large lip on it I didn't like. So I ended up pairing it with a Metra Electronics 95-8905B Double-DIN Dash Kit which works much better. The 13 band EQ and tons of connection options gives you a lot of options. I paired it with a Maestro so that I can still use the steering wheel controls which works great. Make sure to update the firmware and leave a little space behind it as it does have active cooling (a small fan) which you can hear running every time it comes on.
Pros: Flexible Mounting Options Double Din Screen, Single Din Body Nice display Responsive Awesome sound
Cons: Not a huge CON but the Pre-Amp outs are 4v. Make sure to match the gain on any AMP you are using to this. Mine was WAY too high out of the box.

Really bad sound - like hearing through mud. My unit also kept turning off randomly, but that may have been the Maestro unit. For this price do your ears a favor and buy a different brand.
Pros: None
Cons: Sound

This unit was well worth the wait. Crutchfield service is second to none, like having a best friend that knows everything and just a call away. With the pre-wiring service and specific instructions installation was a breeze. The sound quality from this Pioneer is amazing, and I am still discovering features I didn't know it has. I am very happy with this purchase and really glad I once again chose Crutchfield!
Pros: So many features to discover!
Cons: None

Nice Head Unit w/ some Minor Gripes
James from Englewood, CO on 1/10/2022
2017 Volkswagen Tiguan
Great head unit; sounds nice, generally intuitive UI, love the wireless Android auto. A few minor issues: 1- the main screen has an annoying panel that says I need to accept some sports data agreement, but I don't know where or how to make this go away. 2- I installed it on a VW Tiguan, and the Airbag warning light remains on. This is apparently a VW thing related to powering up the radio with the airbag switch light disconnected. I don't recall that being in the instructions, but would have been nice to call that out. It needs a VAGCOM reader or a dealership to reset (aka, $150 of unplanned expense). 3- DataLink support on my Tiguan is kind of limited and hokey and the UI is difficult to get to; some gauges that are have limited configurability to just a few items you can't get elsewhere (intake temperature, exhaust temp, engine load, etc.). Though retaining the full support to steering wheel control buttons and integration to the data screen in the instrument cluster is very good and makes it worth it.
Pros: - Clean UI - Great Sound - Wireless Android Auto
Cons: - Basic iDataLink support (maybe they all only do) - physical buttons would be nice for volume - Touch swiping to change screens awkward

I've only had this for 24 hours, but so far it's a very cool stereo. I'm still learning the menus, but there is a lot of functionality, and Apple CarPlay works perfectly. The display is very clear, and it's pretty responsive to touch.

Excellent car receiver with some minor cons

2015 Mazda MX5
Installed this Pioneer head unit in my 2015 Mazda MX-5 along with the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera and installation was a bit nerve-wracking but fairly smooth in the end. This unit has a lot of nice features and some bells-and-whistles but overall is a great choice for some needing a sleek smooth replacement for their stock radio. The Wireless CarPlay integration is very smooth and fast. The audio coupled with the default Bose system is definitely a big upgrade. Steering wheel controls works well with the Crux wiring interface. Alexa-support is nice and handy. Sirius XM and HDMI support is there, but I didn't need them. USB connector charges my iphone 13 well. Crutchfield support was great (Thanks Derrick) when I contacted them with some wiring questions related to connecting the backup camera. Highly recommend getting the Crutchfield ReadyHarness service as it will save you some valuable time (unless you enjoy reading wiring diagrams and soldering wires). Overall this is a great unit and will be a step-up from the stock radio. Too bad the price has jumped in 2022 already.
Pros:
Cons: 1) the purple reverse camera view wire could be a bit longer - I barely got it connected to the red/orange backup light wire with a connector tap. 2) CarPlay screen colors seems a bit washed up 3) Capacitive screen is nice but does have some lag when swiping 4) GPS should be built-in and not need an external wire and unit to be placed on dash

Once you get through the hard work of installing, you will love everything that this radio offers. I love this radio!
Pros: Once you get familiar with the options you'll love this radio.
Cons: It took a little time installing but was well worth it. The dash insert is a little flimsy and hard to snap together and install into dash. You might need three hands to install.

Very user friendly. Features and menus are where you would expect them to be. Connectivity is quick and easy. Multiple phones am be connected at once and it makes it easy to pick what source you want to use.
Pros: The single DIN receiver makes it easy to coil up extra cable length and mount the GPS unit. Makes it a lot easier when space behind the unit is tight. Touch screen is responsive and has a quick response time.
Cons: None so far.

Solid Head Unit

2018 Subaru Impreza
Best Head Unit I've bought in a long time. Waited on back order since October, well worth the wait. This unit alone brought my aftermarket speakers to life! Can't wait to install a 5 channel amp after. User interface is super friendly and fast. Made my stock back up camera like 3x clearer somehow and the EQ and other audio settings on this is very detailed to deliver your sound quality needs for sure. And if you want to customize your Home Screen and background you can!
Pros: Wireless CarPlay, install was easy, HD Radio is pretty cool and you can hook up a HDMI cable to mirror your phone
Cons: Sometimes the Bluetooth would disconnect from wireless CarPlay, but you can also do wired connection for CarPlay if you wish

Unfriendly installs just got friendly.
Douglas from Monterey, CA on 12/10/2021
Tech solves problems. At last, pioneer releases a touch screen compatible with the modest space offerings of two-post style installations in classic hot rods. While offerings for these antiquated autos are ubiquitous - audiophiles are challenged in finding something that combines decent sound with todays tech like GPS and streaming music without upsetting the classic feel, that sounds any better than a refurbished 8 track. With enough screen to clearly display GPS maps and instructions, and offering functional frustration free integration for apple and android users alike, pioneer provides a perfect solution for a crafty installer that cleanly installs in those classic cars without taking over. You will find a separate head unit from the core device with multiple mounting options included. The dark, sleek appearance of the head unit can stand alone without special trim, inviting it to mount anywhere imaginable. Multiple plug ins on the core device leave quite a mess of cables, inviting you to mount it anywhere far out of sight, where space is plenty and looks are unimportant. Offering a well mannered attempt to decode streaming audio from your tech gadget that is about as good as your MP3s will get, it shines brilliantly with HD radio. The EQ can tame most combinations and deliver on the promise that pioneer has made for the money invested. Be ready though: unfriendly instructions may leave the novice wondering what to do with so many wires.
Pros: Versatile. Endless possibilities. Good sound. Great interface. Intuitive.
Cons: Awful instructions concerning wiring functions. Only a receiver. No front panel inputs.

Great Unite- Very Satisfied
Matthew from Denver, CO on 10/25/2021
2017 Subaru Forester
Great unit, Apple Car Play works very well, excellent installation resources between Crutchfield and Maestro. Only feature that does not work is the in-console USB as it is a two-port hub in this car, so the recommended USB adaptor is wasteful. Pointers specific to a 2017 Forester: 1. The BLUE power wire from the antenna adapter must be connected to the BLUE/WHITE Amp Turn-On wire of the Maestro harness. 2. There is a YELLOW/BLACK wire labelled MUTE that must be connected to the YELLOW wire of the Pioneer unit for the MUTE function to work. 3. There is no need for (and no place to plug in) the AUDIO CABLE from the Maestro RR unit into the Pioneer unit. Just leave it off. 4. The Posi-Twist connectors are fantastic. You need TWO packs as there are a few more than 16 connections to make. 5. The recommended wire-stripper is worth it for making consistent wire strips without yanking on the harnesses. 7. It is a little tricky getting everything packed back into the space - patience. 6. The Scosche all black trim looks great and was a perfect fit. Really happy with the unit after two weeks of use. 1. Sound is fantastic, big improvement from stock headunit. 2. Car Play has been flawless and connects quickly. 3. If you want internet functions, ie weather, sports, you have to 'activate' the Hotspot' (make discoverable) everytime you get in the car. I will only use on long rides. This is an iOs limitation, nothing to do with the head unit.

Great update to my 2013 Chevy Silverado 1500
Crutchfield customer from Valley Springs, CA on 10/7/2021
2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
To add a backup camera and to have wireless Android Auto, I was looking at either the Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX, the DMH-WC5700NEX or the DMH-WC6600NEX (yes, I'm partial to Pioneer). I didn't want to have a 9" screen extend out (or the extra cost), so I didn't pick the DMH-WC6600NEX. The Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX had more reviews, (112 at the time) and was mixed about the wireless Android Auto. The DMH-WC5700NEX had only 1, 5 star review. Doing some research, the DMH-WC5700NEX was new to 2021 (introduced at CES). Since the price was the same as the older DMH-W4660NEX, I took a chance on the DMH-WC5700NEX. Some install notes: My vehicle is a 2013 Chevy Silverado 1500 (non-Bose system. No factory amp). The stock radio came with SiriusXM. My initial information from Crutchfield was that you could not use the factory satellite antenna. Well, you can. The satellite receiver is behind the glovebox. Purchase the iDatalink SAT2 antenna extension, unplug the antenna from the receiver and plug into the factory antenna (I've included pics). After install, the volume wasn't high enough. After calling iDatalink, I had installed the low output connections (I'll include pics of what these look like). I was told these were noise filters. After uninstalling these, the volume was as it should be. Lastly, there is a GPS antenna. I was strongly advised to install. Since I didn't want to drill a hole in the dash, I ran this down to the floor (pics included).
Pros: The latest Pioneer for 2021 Nice, new interface. Great for cramped spaces
Cons: Sometimes the screen will go back to a previously viewed screen (for example, I'm listening to SiriusXM and the screen will go back to the idatalink car information). Doesn't happen a lot, but something I'll follow up on. Could just need a firmware update.
