The woofer cone sports an injection-molded polypropylene design reinforced with aramid fiber and mica, for smooth handling and hard-hitting low-end output. The speaker's deeper basket design allows Pioneer's exclusive suspension system to keep the cone in control during your music's peak moments, so those kick drums won't sound off-kilter. Features

Woofers: Each woofer has an aramid fiber and mica reinforced injection-molded polypropylene (IMPP) cone. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness to improve linearity and clarity. Additionally, the cones are lightweight and rigid to decrease distortion.

Size Classification Note: Some manufacturers, including Pioneer, call this size woofer a 6½". Because it requires a larger cutout than a standard 6½" speaker, Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size speaker as a 6¾". Please enter your vehicle information to confirm fit.

Mounting Brackets: Pioneer includes a pair of mounting brackets to install the woofers in vehicle-specific applications. Again, enter your vehicle information to confirm fit.

Tweeter Mounting: The system includes flush mount rings and angled surface mount housings for the tweeters. The surface mount housing positions the tweeters at approximately a 45° angle. Flexible brackets are also included for mounting the tweeters in factory locations. Once installed the tweeters do not swivel.

Crossovers: The high pass crossovers are integrated into the included speaker wire and the low pass crossovers are integrated into the woofer baskets. The slope of both is 6 dB/octave and the crossover point is 2.8 kHz. Each length of speaker wire connects to both a woofer and tweeter. Quick slides connect to the woofer, a 40" output leg with integrated crossover (approximately ½" diameter x 1" long) connects to the terminals attached to the tweeter, and an 10" input leg connects to the source.

Why doesnt the tweeters come with a crossover? How do you wire the tweeters

Hey Jerome, there is a crossover in this set. It will be an in-line crossover that is designed to be installed between the car wiring and the speaker itself and will act as a sort of bass blocker to ensure we do not feed any unnecessary low frequencies to those tweeters.

can i use chanels 1 and 2 for tweaters and 3 and 4 for woofers, to prevent sound level reduction or will sound reduction not occour using only two channels ?

Hey Samuel, sound reduction will not occur when running these in a 2ch situation. If you tried to run them in a 4ch situation, you can also do this since the crossover is in-line with the tweeter to block those lower frequencies though I prefer to have a DSP in those lines to set our crossover points at each speaker.

Greetings Jake. Thank you for your question. The Pioneer speakers will run from radio/stereo power, they will just not sound as good with low power going to them. An amplifier would be highly recommended.

I have a 4 channel amp. Can I run these with two channels without buying anything else, And then use my 2 extra channels for rear coaxial speakers? Or will I need an external crossover?

The Pioneer TS-A653CH speakers have included crossovers and are designed to be driven with 2-channels of power, Trace. You can connect these to the channels 1-2 on your amp and use your channels 3-4 for your rear coaxial speakers, no problem!

EQ and crossover settings are a personal preference choice, Nicholas. The Pioneer TS-A653CH speakers have a frequency response of 33-58,000 Hz, for best bass no hi-pass crossover is required.
