These sound great with my new Kenwood head unit! I debated changing out the OEM Frontier 6 speaker stereo, but it was pretty meh. Rear speakers are up next. Anyway, the Kenwood HU made a big difference, but it was still lacking. After much research, I chose this set for the front based on price, specs, and in-line crossover. I happened to be in a Best Buy last week and they had a demo board with these same speakers in 6.5" components. Meh, I wasn't real impressed and was concerned I'd have to return these, but was still hopeful. Some Sony 6.5" coaxials sounded a lot better than any of these A series Pioneers. So I was hoping it was just the source. Got them installed today, and I am pleasantly surprised. I was a little worried the tweeters would be too bright at 58khz, but nope, they are quite detailed and not shrill. I am also planning to add a 10" powered sub, but I'm not sure I need one now. These have some serious tight bass, and they aren't even broken in yet. I'm thrilled these sound so good even on HU power. Whew!
Pros: Inline crossovers, easy install, deep tight bass, clean highs.
Cons: The supplied tweeter adaptors took a bit of engineering. I had to use a 1.5" hole saw (1.75" is too large), then Dremel the opening a bit more with a mini sandpaper bit to get the tweeters to drop in with the supplied Pioneer trim ring.
