The Technics SL-G700 offers multiple ways to listen to your favorite tunes. It's a SACD/CD player with a high-precision transport mechanism that spins discs precisely and accurately. And it features built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for music streaming. A premium DAC brings out the details in digital music files, no matter what the source.
Wireless features
The SL-G700 uses the Chromecast built-in streaming platform to give you access to several popular streaming services, including Spotify®, TIDAL, Deezer, and more (subscriptions may be required). Internet radio is available via TuneIn, iHeartRadio and SiriusXM. Apple® AirPlay® 2 lets you stream directly from an iPhone® or iPad® and you can ask Siri to play Apple Music. You can even issue voice commands via Google Home devices.
Connections
The player accepts digital audio signals via optical digital and coaxial digital inputs, plus dual USB Type A ports that accept high-resolution WAV, FLAC, AIFF, ALAC, AAC files, as well as MP3s. There's an Ethernet port on the back panel for making a direct connection to your home network. And you get optical and coaxial digital outputs alongside balanced and unbalanced analog outputs.

Audio Section
High-Rigidity Drive Mechanism & Insulators: The CD drive mechanism features a triple chassis structure to ensure accurate reading and to prevent the vibration from transmitting to the outside of the mechanism. Moreover, the SL-G700 has a stable, aluminium die-cast disc tray with a high-vibration-damping, quiet structure to ensure high-accuracy disc playback. The high-density insulator feet are enhanced with ribs and a 4mm-thick iron plate to increase the weight and strength, and effectively suppresses resonance.
4-Section Configuration: The SL-G700 uses a 4-Section construction with partitions installed between the circuit blocks according to the signal level handled and circuit type.This eliminates interference between circuit blocks, thus achieving clear sound quality. Also, the chassis rigidity due to this construction suppresses the vibration of electrical parts, thereby suppressing deterioration in sound quality
Premium High-Grade D/A Converter & Dual Mono Construciton D/A Circuit: For analog audio output, the D/A circuit is one of the most important circuit blocks since it recreates the original analogue waveform from a digital source, such as a CD. For the D/A converters, Asahi Kasei Micro devices' top-of-the-line DAC AK4497, with their high S/N ratio and low distortion, are isolated for the left and right channels. The power supply for the D/A converters is separated into five sections according to the application, and supplied individually. The power supply for the clock employs an original Battery Driven Circuit System to achieve high-accuracy D/A conversion. The Dual Mono Construction and asymmetrical layout eliminate mutual interference between left and right channels, taking the reproduction of sound imaging and sound space recorded in the source to a higher dimension.
Discrete Amp Module: For the analog audio output, the filter circuit located after the D/A conversion determines the quality of sound. The SL-G700's filter circuit incorporates not an Opamp IC but an amp module of original discrete construction. The use of low-noise transistors and thin-film resistors suppresses the noise generated inside the circuits. Detailed fine tuning, such as the increase of operating current, has improved the response, S/N ratio and distortion rate. As result, the SL-G700 provides highly linear and faithful sound reproduction without omitting even the smallest nuances recorded in the source.
Battery Driven Clock Generator: In the processing of digital audio signals, the quality of the clock affects the sound quality to a large extent. The best power supply for delicate circuitry such as the Clock block in the DAC and the audio system clock circuit is one entirely isolated from any noise or fluctuations in the mains supply. Technics has extensive experience in isolating the power supply using a battery. This technology creates low-noise digital audio interfaces including D/A convertors. Additionally, the audio system clock is supplied from an Ultra Low Jitter Clock Generator. A low-noise power supply and a high-quality clock circuit realise a sound with transparency.
High-Speed Silent Hybrid Power Supply: The quality of power supply is extremely important for high-fidelity sound reproduction. Power supply noise and supply stability directly affect the quality of sound reproduced from audio signals, particularly for analogue audio output. The SL-G700 is equipped with a dedicated power supply unit for analogue audio output. Its non-feedback switching power supply suppresses switching frequency fluctuation. Combined with the original stabilised power supply circuit, this dedicated power supply unit provides stable power with low noise. The discrete circuit structure does not use any general-purpose ICs, and meticulous tuning provides power optimised for analogue circuits, thus realising a high S/N ratio and superb reproduction, the hallmark of Technics sound.
Digital Noise Isolation Architecture: For the USB input terminals, the amplifier includes power conditioners using non-magnetic carbon film resistors with strong protection against magnetic distortion and using capacitors of high-quality ruby mica excellent in characteristics such as low dielectric loss, high voltage resistance, and temperature stability. In addition, pursuing high reproducibility of sound by various noise countermeasures, such as installation of low ESR film capacitor to LAN terminal power supply and isolation by pulse transformer in digital output signal.
Optimimally Activated Circuit System: The Optimally Activated Circuit System allows the operation of various digital modules to be stopped (such as those used for display, analog and digital interfaces) to minimize the noise generated when music is playing. In addition, the Pure Disc Playback Mode completely shuts off the Network Interface circuit to further raise the sound quality of SACD/CD playback.
High-Quality Headphone Output: The Technics SL-G700 Network/SACD player is equipped with a front-panel 1/4" headphone jack that offers a dedicated D/A circuit and separate amp circuits for high-quality headphone sound.
- Dedicated D/A Circuit: Generally, the analog output signal (Balanced / Unbalanced) and headphone output signal are generated by the same D/A circuit. The SL-G700 is equipped with a dedicated D/A circuit for headphones which is independent from that for analogue output. This circuitry incorporates Technics’ original sound processing LSI, the JENO Engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise-shaping Optimisation). Complete separation of the analog output from the headphone output has eliminated the mutual interference between the two circuits that serve different purposes. In addition, each circuit receives the most suitable sound tuning. As a result, both outputs provide maximum performance. Furthermore, the SL-G700 is equipped with an operation optimization system that automatically turns on the JENO Engine when a pair of headphones is connected. This eliminates the adverse effect of the analogue output on the sound quality when headphones are not connected.
- Separate Amp Circuits: What’s more, the Class AA System headphone amp uses separate amp circuits for the audio signal voltage amplification and current amplification. The high-grade operation amp amplifies voltage, and the separate operation amp with high power supply capacity amplifies current. This enables high-precision conversion of the high-resolution PWM signal output from the JENO Engine to an analogue signal. Achieving ideal drive of headphones with a wide range of load impedance, it delivers low-distortion sound across a broad frequency range.
Balanced & Unbalanced Outputs: The Technics SL-G700 Network/SACD Player is outfitted with balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs. The balanced XLR connections guard against induced noise and allow long cable runs without compromising sound quality. The balanced and unbalanced analog outputs can be set to Fixed or Variable (-99 to 0 dB).
Optical & Coaxial Digital Outputs: In addition to the balanced and unbalanced analog outputs, the SL-G700 also offers optical (toslink) and coaxial (RCA) digital outputs. The optical digital output supports up to 24-bit/96kHz, while the coaxial digital output supports up ot 24-bit/192kHz.
Note: The audio signal of a SACD cannot be output from the digital audio output terminals of this unit. You must connect the balanced or unbalanced analog audio output terminals to listen to SACD.
Variety Of Sources
Disc Compatibility: The Technics SL-G700 Network/SACD Player supports playback of SACD, MQA-CD, CD-Audio, CD-R, and CD-RW discs (12 or 8 cm discs). CD-R and CD-RW discs must contain CD-Audio or MQA music files (not compatible with MP3, WMA, AAC, etc. music files).
- Super Audio CD: Super Audio CD use a technology called Direct Stream Digital (DSD) to convert music into a digital signal that can be stored on a disc. Compared to the traditional PCM method (the technology used for CD), DSD offers a much higher resolution by following more closely the original waveform of music. With a frequency response of over 100kHz and a dynamic range over 120dB across the audible frequency range (some 64x higher resolution then standard CD-Audio) Super Audio CD offers music reproduction that reveals details you just cannot hear on a normal CD.
- MQA: The SL-G700 includes MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) technology, which allows the player to recognize a MQA-CD and deliver the sound of the original master recording. The built-in MQA decoder will resotre the high-resolution signal heard in the studio and confirm it, using the authentication signature.
Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Technics SL-G700 offers a wired (Ethernet) and wireless (WiFi) network connection. The SL-G700 is outfitted with a Ethernet (RJ45) jack for a hardwired connection to your network router. It also features dual-band (2.4/5GHz) WiFi (802.11ac) for a wireless connection to your WiFi network router.
Note: A wired or wireless network connection is required for access to Chromecast built-in apps and Apple AirPlay 2.
Technics Audio Center App: The Technics Audio Center App (for (Apple iOS 11.0+ & Android OS 5.0+) lets you access online music services such as Tidal, Spotify, Deezer, and TuneIn. The Technics Audio Center app also provides access to the music stored on a connected DLNA-compatible server, content stored on the smartphone or tablet device running the app, and music files on connected USB memory devices or songs on CD, giving you integrated playback control.
Note: The Technics Audio Center App is not compatible with analog & digital inputs, or Bluetooth.
Spotify Connect: The Technics SL-G700 Network/SACD Player also incorporates Spotify Connect. If you subscribe to Spotify Premium , you can play all of your Spotify music and playlists, plus control the volume and playback with the Spotify Connect app on your Apple iOS or Android device.
Chromecast built-in: Use the Google Home App (for Apple iOS 12.0+ and Android OS 6.0+) to enable Chromecast built-in. Chromecast built-in gives you access to hundreds of online music streaming services, internet radio, and podcasts. Chromecast built-in streams audio directly from the cloud, so you get the 24-bit/96kHz sound quality and the ability to enjoy crystal clear sound exactly the way the artist intended. Simply tap the Cast button from a Chromecast built-in compatible music app on your Apple iOS or Android OS device to start streaming to the SL-G700. You can search, browse, play, skip, and turn up the volume directly from the music apps you know and love on your compatible smartphone or tablet. Chromecast built-in supports FLAC, WAV, AAC, and MP3 music files. While you cast your music, you can still use your smartphone to answer a call, play a game, send a text, and even leave the room - all without interrupting what's playing on the Technics SL-G700.
- Music, Radio, & Podcasts: Chromecast built-in lets you play music from popular music services and search by artist, song, genre, album playlist, mood, or activity. You can also listen to your favorite internet radio stations and podcasts. Compatible music and internet radio apps include Amazon Music, Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, Pandora, TuneIn, GooglePlay Music, iHeart Radio, YouTube Music, and more (subscriptions and fees will apply). You'll also be able to stream your favorite music, playlists, podcasts, and more that are stored on your Android (OS 5.0+) device to the SL-G700. You cannot stream stored content on an Apple iOS device using Chromecast built-in. If you're on your laptop or computer, you can also cast any music streaming website through the Chrome web browser to the network player.
- Multiroom Audio: Add more Chromecast built-in speakers throughout your home (sold separately) to create a whole house audio experience. You can play the same Chromecast built-in compatible music app (like Tidal, Spotify, or Pandora) on all speakers or groups of speakers in different rooms of your home. You'll be able control the multiroom audio system from the Google Home app on your Apple iOS or Android device, or using the Google Assistant and your voice on a compatible Google Home device.
- Voice Control (Optional): Purchase a Google Home wireless speaker (sold separately) and gain voice control of compatible Chromecast Built-in music apps. You'll be able to access a specific music app and then select a specific station or song using only your voice. You'll also have voice control over Play, Pause, Skip, & Volume. The Technics SL-G700 and your Google Home speaker must be connected to the same wireless (WiFi) network.
AirPlay 2: AirPlay 2 is an advanced and easy-to-use wireless multiroom audio platform for iTunes, Apple Music, and other compatible Apple iOS apps. With AirPlay 2 you can play any sound from your Apple iOS device (running iOS 11.4 or later) or Mac computer (running OS X 10.13.2) through the SL-G700 and other compatible AirPlay 2 products throughout your home. You can choose to play audio in one room, play the same audio in grouped rooms, or play the same audio in every room. If you are an Apple Music subscriber, you can even play different music in different rooms (you can control and group directly from Apple's Music App and Home app on your Apple iOS device). You will also be able to ask Siri-enabled devices (like your Apple iPhone, iPad, or Watch) to control playback of your Apple Music on the SL-G700 player. You can even watch videos and movies from YouTube and Netflix on your compatible Apple iOS device or Mac computer with perfectly synced audio on the Technics SL-G700 Network/SACD Player.
DLNA Compliant: The Technics SL-G700 is DLNA compliant for playback of various music files stored on your Windows PC (7-up) or DLNA-certified NAS drives connected to your home network. MAC OSX computers and laptops require third party software to be visible on the network (Twonky, Plex, Servio etc.) as they do not support DLNA.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: Built-in Bluetooth with support for wireless audio streaming (A2DP) and control (AVRCP) allows you to wirelessly stream audio from stored music, music apps, and other audio content from Bluetooth-enabled source devices (such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer) to the Technics SL-G700 Network/SACD player. The unit supports SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs. You'll also be able to control basic playback functions (such as Play/Pause, Stop, and Skip) from the included remote or front-panel. You can pair multiple devices (up to 8) to the SL-G700, but only one can be connected and used for playback at a time.
Dual USB-A Ports: The Technics SL-G700 is equipped with a front-panel and rear-panel USB-A port for playback of a variety of compressed and Hi-Res music files stored on a USB MSC (mass storage class) device, such as a USB thumbdrive or HDD. Compatible USB devices must be formated in FAT16, FAT32, or NTFS. The USB ports are rted at 5V/1A and can also be used to charged USB-enabled electronic devices, such as a smartphone. Optical & Coaxial Digital Inputs: The SL-G700 is outfitted with one optical (toslink) digital input and one coaxial (RCA) digital input with support for 2ch PCM audio. The optical digital input supports up to 24-bit/96kHz, while the coaxial digital input supports up ot 24-bit/192kHz.
Note: The digital inputs do not support Dolby Digital, DTS, or other multichannel audio formats.
Display & Controls
Front-Panel LCD & Controls: The front-panel LCD indicates input source (including song/artist/album information), playback status, and menu settings. Front-panel playback controls include Power On/Off, Input Selector, Volume Up/Down, Play/Pause, Stop, and Previous/Next Track,
IR Remote: The included IR remote provides wireless operation of the SL-G700 Network/SACD Player. However, you'll also need a compatible Apple iOS or Android OS device with supported applications for complete control of the unit.
Control Input: The Technics SL-G700 features a rear-panel Control Input that consists of a 3.5mm jack. You can operate the SL-G700 and other Technics components (such as an integrated amplifier) that also supports the system control function simultaneously from one remote control.
Sleep Timer: The Sleep Timer can turn the unit to standby mode automatically after a set time (30, or 60, 90, or 120 minutes).
Auto Off: This unit will automatically enter standby mode if there is no sound output and operation for approximately 20 minutes.

Great CD player, premium construction, sleek motion, easy interface, complete control. I bought it together with the Technics SL-GU700 amp: wonderful set. Mounted with AudioQuest Mackenzie cables for better sound than the cable provided in the box.
