Excellent player! If you connect an external hard drive use the Rear USB-A only and all drives in either front or rear USB have to be formatted FAT32

Technics SLG700M2
Parker from Ogden, UT on 12/9/2024
I've just gotten it broken in and it doesn't disappoint. It sounds amazing listening to SACD disks (the primary reason I got it). It reads the disks quickly and has been an overall great experience so far. Upgraded to this from a Denon SACD player because my system is wired in XLR and I wanted to stay balanced throughout the audio chain.
Pros: Fast reading of disk. Great, balanced sound.
Cons: None

MM from NEW YORK, NY on 10/21/2024
I'm a huge fan of Technics. I've owned several of their turntables and currently use the terrific, warm like tubes but uncannily clear, SU R1000 integrated amplifier. I thought that by adding this SACD player, I would reach truly outstanding Technics sound. Instead, the sound going through analog outputs isn't a bit smeared, and generally, compared to my Oppo Blu-ray 105, the sound is a bit lifeless and unengaging. Roon streaming also sounds better on the Wiim Pro. Sadly, I'm returning.
Pros: Beautifully made. Complements other Technics gear such as the SU R1000 Integrated amplifier. Pretty good app.
Cons: The sound at least with a top end Technics amplifier was bland. A bit like Class D of yore

Great stereo audiophile unit
Ovidiu from Camarillo, CA on 9/16/2024
Great SACD/CD player with DAC supporting up to DSD256. Nice design smooth operation. The sound is better than the old reference Marantz SA-10 unit that costs double used or triple new. You can also connect the unit to all your streaming app. The unit also has a convenient headphone amp included that works great. I use this unit on the desk next to my computer with headsets connected. This new model includes a remote that can open the CD/SACD tray that the older model didn't have. If you want to play CD or SACD you are able to switch to CD/SACD only play disconnecting all the other circuits. This way you get the greatest playback quality. A very good audiophile unit in the under 15,000 price range. If you want extra quality you must move up to the reference systems like Esoteric or T+A that cost over 20k, excluding taxes
Pros: - great SACD/CD playback in disk only mode - remote with open/close tray - can connect through USB to your computer to play music stored on hard drives - all streaming platform connected - balanced XLR outputs so you can connect your amplifiers and speakers - can be used as a transport unit for high end reference systems
Cons: - limit DSD256 if this is a concern.

Outstanding all-in-one player. Exceptional build quality. I purchased this component to replace a Krell SACD Mk III, and it now sits very comfortably between my Krell KCT pre and FPB power amp--a true high-end source worth the price.
Pros: Build quality is superb. Fantastic DAC. Love the many input/output options, especially the XLR outs.
Cons: Antenna should have been internalized, and the display screen a bit larger.

Top Notch
Joseph from Lititz, PA on 3/11/2024
I only have had this for a couple of weeks and I absolutely love this gem. Whether streaming Tidal or playing CD's or SACD's, this machine sounds fantastic. It sounded great through an old Yamaha RX-577 and some ceiling speakers. Now I am running it through a brand new McIntosh MA8950 amplifier and a pair of McIntosh XR100's.... just jaw dropping. The SLG700M2 just exudes quality: quiet operation, sleek looks and checks in at 27 lbs... A tank that is easy and fun to use. It totally earns every bit of the five star rating. As usual, a quick delivery from Crutchfield.

CD Endgame
Brian from San Francisco, CA on 12/10/2023
I researched many options before deciding on the Technics SLG700M2 and now that I have it I couldn't be happier with my choice. The sound quality, build quality, ease of use and I/O are all phenomenal. CDs and SACDs are rendered on my KEF R3 Meta's that achieves a new level of clarity, soundstage and presence that isn't harsh or clinical, just sparkling clean.
Pros: Build quality, sound quality, clean and minimal design, knob feel
Cons: Streaming software and app not as polished as a dedicated streamer

Techniques SLG 700m2
Roy Scott from Sugar Land, TX on 11/5/2023
The Macintosh of Japanese products. I own the techniques 1200g turntable and also this piece of Japanese art. Digital to analog converter is equal to my Macintosh 7200. Maybe better! The transport is exceptional. I don't think that it gets better than this by much.

Heck of a unit!
Thomas from Bethlehem, PA on 10/9/2023
Fantastic product! I've been on a never-ending search for the best bang for the buck network streamer, with a DAC, with an optional CD/SACD player. This fit the bill. The built-in DAC is superb. The unit is quick and the app that goes along with it is pretty good. Took a little getting used too, but nothing that'll knock the score of this unit down. Loads my CD's and SACD's with zero issues. Pure Disc Playback disables nearly all other components in the unit to make the audio even better - and after A/B'ing that for a while, I really did notice a difference in sound quality with it enabled. More dynamics, more punch, more clarity, etc. Also - it is heavy, and built like a TANK. Technics really has a hit on their hand with this unit, and I really hope it gains more traction throughout the audiophile world. Take notice of this, you will not be disappointed.
Pros: -Sound -Build quality -Features
Cons: -App may take a little getting used too, but not even really a con if I'm being honest.

If you haven't listened to a CD player recently this will blow you away. This replaced an Oppo UDP-205 and was like going from a Yugo to a Lamborghini. Digital is no longer a dirty word around our house.
