More Boom Boom

For reference, this sub was installed under the back seat of a crew cab Chevy 1500 and replaced an 8" Kenwood eXcelon shallow subwoofer. The supporting cast consists of Focal 6.5" flax component speakers in the doors, with their inverted dome tweeters in the dash. I should note, there was nothing wrong with the Kenwood, I just wanted more boom, and the 10" JL provides that. I also like the fact that the JL is built in the USA (though I know that 'built in' and 'made in' are different). The system is powered by an AudioControl LC-5.1300 which is rated for 100w x 4 @ 4 ohm and 500w x 1 @ 2 ohm, so the sub gets plenty of juice. Without increasing the gain on the amp, I have much more adjustment on my remote bass level now. The sub isn't broken in yet, but I know already that I will not be left wanting more bass down the road. JL makes quality stuff, and this sub is no exception. JL also costs a little more, but what you get from this audio legend is worth it, in my opinion.
Pros: High quality and more boom
Cons: High quality costs more

JL Audio CP110LG-TW1-2

This 10" JL sub has very good output and great low end for one shallow enclosure in the cab of my Tundra crewmax. It won't blow out windows or blast down the block, but it/_ is perfect for anyone not looking for chest crushing two 12" high output W7s. Two of these would probably hit the chest pretty dang decent but for me the sound in the cab is awesome and you can hear evey low and feel the music just enough to have that smile we all look for when listening to our favorite jams. Been using JL audio since early 90s and it always delivers with quality sound, as far as depth and tonal quality JL is second to none in my experience. You can never go wrong with JL and with the proper power and tuning each sub application is steps ahead of the competition.

Good Bass + Space Saver = Happy Wife!
Erick from Chino Hills, CA on 9/30/2024
2014 Toyota Sienna
Bought the JL sub along with Alpine S2-S65C and RF P1000X5 for my wife's 2014 Toyota Sienna van. She wanted an upgraded sound system. However, her biggest concern is that she did not want the sub to take a lot of space in back or be too heavy to move around if she needs to put the seats down. Check, check, and check! The sub is small that it can fit length wise between the seat and rear door hatch. It's also light enough to easily move around if needed by herself. Most importantly, the sub has solid bass without shaking the windows, which is more than what she was looking for and what I was expecting to hear from this compact sub. She literally shed a tear when she heard it for the first time!
Pros: compact light solid bass
Cons: Price but that's all JL audio.

This sub delivers a perfect tight bass that seamlessly blends/balances with the rest of the speakers in the car. The bass from this sub ties everything together and delivers the perfect fullness in the sound that you not only hear but feel (without rattling the windows).
Pros: Great bass and excellent construction
Cons: none

Awesome Sub
Robert from Austin, TX on 4/10/2023
I had the 8in version of the micro-sub years ago when they first came out and loved the amount of sound that came out of such a small package. I recently bought a new truck and bought a truck style all in one sealed sub from a different maker. Although the sealed sub had plenty of bass, I prefer the sound of a ported box. When I realized the sealed sub wasn't going to make me happy, I immediately thought of the microsub. Although slightly longer than the truck style box, it fit perfectly under the truck seat and sounds 10x better. If space is a concern, the micro-sub is the way to go.
Pros: Great sound Small footprint
Cons: Pricey

Tight bass for a ported sub
Crutchfield customer from Elk Grove, CA on 4/21/2020
JL makes quality products and this particular sub is no different. I wanted a 10" sub to make tight bass for rock/metal and some electronic music. This is a ported sub so it has a deeper low end and is slightly louder since it can move air more freely with an open box. Ultimately this wasn't quite the solution for me and I traded it in for a JL sealed 10" (CS110LG-TW3) and that did the trick for my setup. I will say however for a ported shallow sub it was pretty tight bass and accurate for a ported sub. It was a tough call to go to a sealed sub considering how good this one sounded. This was also the third product from Crutchfield I've received as an 'open box'. Haven't had an issue with anything open box yet.
Pros: Relatively accurate and tight for a ported sub Quality build
Cons: A little open ended and boomy for rock/metal music.

Fabulous clean and deep bass - I paired it with an AudioControl 300W mono amp and have to be careful with the gain to keep my teeth intact ;) Construction of the box feels very solid and the carpet is high quality. Like another user said, this sub is more than enough for almost any vehicle, but it does roll off in the 28Hz range, so if you're into extreme lows you will want a larger diameter.

JL 10 microsub
B from Edmond, OK on 12/16/2017
1 Installed in 2016 Chevy Express cargo van. Powered by 240Wx1 from Infinity Kappa K4. Takes up to 300W rms. Super powerful, clear, full range bass. Minimum gain setting has enough juice to compete with 2 120W 6.5 inch component speakers at full gain. I have to turn the stock stereo eq bass setting down to 25% for balance. Fits like a glove behind driver seat in front of partition. More than enough thump for any automobile and all music genres.
Pros: Quality, power, sale price(scratch and dent - appeared brand new), box size
Cons: None

Awesome bass nice deep and lots of punch. Pushing it with a Rockford Fosgate 5 channel 300 watt at 2 ohm amp. Like that this is 2 ohm to take advantage of my amp. It's has a smallish foot print so it fits behind the seats on my Jeep Commander.
Pros: Like size. Great bass. Nice finish.
Cons: None so far

james from Eugene, OR on 11/25/2016
Great bass, almost a little too much for my single cab Toyota Tacoma. I've been playing around with car audio since 1990 and have used many great products from Rockford Fosgate, Precision Power, Soundstream, Lanzer, Orion and Audio Control back when they were ALL made in the U.S.A. This is my first JL Audio subwoofer, and have to say I'm not disappointed. I'm using the factory head unit with an AudioControl LC2iB (which is awesome for what it does) going into an older Alpine MRD-M300 V12 series mono amp driving this sub. The bass is surprisingly tight and accurate for a setup I mostly wanted THUMP out of.
Pros: Nice and "tight" sound for a ported box Great THUMP for rock music Small size, fits behind the seat of my Regular cab 2013 Toyota Tacoma Good price
Cons: None worth mentioning

Jesse from Kamuela, HI on 10/16/2016
I'm very pleased with these 10" speakers! Initially, I order one. I wanted to test the placement and sound under the rear seat in my Nissan Titan. There's a chance the box was built to fit beneath the seat on my truck it fit so well. I wanted a bit more bass, and had room on the other side of the truck, so I ordered a second box. The sound from the single, little box is very impressive. But, the pair of subs together is what I was looking for. It's not enough to make your vision blurry, but it shakes the mirrors, vibrates the overhead consuls, and sounds very solid! I've been a fan of 12" subwoofers for the past 20 years or so, but this 10" combo is just what I was looking for.

JL Audio impresses again!
Jason from MO on 5/14/2016

Long ago I had one of JL's first pre fab sub boxes with a 12 W0 connected to a RF 250 watt amp and it amazed with the depth of bass and it's precision and quality. I listen to all but country music and this new ported 10 TW1 is more than I expected. The price wasn't too bad ($850) installed with wires run and shop time and labor included so all in all for the convenience of taking my car to a local shop and having the option to drive away 2 hours later with such a well made product I say it was worth the $.
Pros: Tight, Clean, Deep bass that you feel. Has played every type of music with flawless precision. The box and build quality are top notch. I have the version with the built in 400 watt class D amp and it is so simple to use. Two quick connect pins and it's out of the trunk if i need the extra 6 inches of space or need to fold the seats down and as is it makes no impact on the amount of cargo i can carry on camping and climbing trips. Volume knob is a must as this thing gets LOUD.
Cons: NADA
