Designed to perform
The 1" treated-silk dome tweeters render brilliant highs, and true 2-way crossovers ensure that the woofer and tweeter work in perfect concert. You'll hear all the details of your music, even when the throttle is forward and you're skimming over the waves. You don't have to worry about mounting the crossovers, either, because they're attached to the speaker frames.
The coolest cones around
Any speaker with built-in lighting is cool enough, but JL Audio M6 speakers are something special. The unique Transflective™ cones let the light shine through when the LEDs are on, but look silver when the lights aren't in use, so your speakers will look awesome whether the lights are on or off.
The LEDs themselves are mounted to the speaker's frame and illuminate the cone from underneath. This very smart bit of engineering ensures smooth, vibrant light without the “hot spots” you'd notice on lesser LED speakers. It sounds like a subtle difference, but when you see them lit up, you'll understand what a huge improvement this is. You can choose from a variety of fixed lighting colors or control the color and intensity of the lighting with the MLC-RW RGB LED Controller (sold separately).
Built for life on the water
All JL Audio marine speakers are designed to meet or exceed industry standards for salt, fog, and moisture resistance. They're built tough, too, with UV-resistant grilles and corrosion-resistant polymer baskets that surround the internal structure for extra protection. The marine-grade synthetic fiber spider, injection-molded polypropylene cone, and synthetic rubber surround provide outstanding performance, while shrugging off sun, salt, and moisture. As an added bonus, you're protected by JL Audio's 2-year warranty.

Features
Marine Tested: JL Audio's marine speakers are tested in ultraviolet chambers to simulate years of sun exposure, and salt fog chambers to simulate years of exposure to salt-water environments.
LED Illumination: There are multi colored LEDs mounted behind the cone in the speaker frame, to create a glow on the cone. Depending on what combination of LED wires is connected, they can light red, green, blue, yellow, pink, aqua, or white. A 12 volt power supply is needed to turn the LEDs on. JL Audio recommends a 500 mA fuse on the LED power lead of each speaker. The LEDs can also be controlled using JL Audio's MLC-RC controller (item number 13699816, sold separately).
Woofers: The woofer cones are mica-filled injection-molded polypropylene (IMPP) with UV inhibitors and synthetic rubber surrounds. The precisely engineered dust cap profiles help smooth the upper-end response. Each woofer uses a marine-grade synthetic fiber spider with a progressive roll design and a vented motor structure with a marine grade stainless steel rear diffuser plate.
DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis): DMA is JL Audio's proprietary method of improving dynamic motor behavior. The DMA-optimized long-excursion design enhances output, bass extension and power handling of the speaker.
Tweeters: Each speaker features a bridge mounted 1" silk dome tweeter with a specially formulated treatment to withstand the marine environment. The tweeters use neodymium magnets for higher efficiency levels and is Ferrofluid-cooled and damped for improved response and power handling capabilities.
Crossover: The JL audio marine speakers utilize a true 2-way crossover network with 2nd order low-pass and 3rd order high-pass circuits. The crossover network also features a polyswitch solid-state tweeter protection circuit. The crossover is built into the terminal assembly to protect it from vibration and corrosion.
Polymer Basket And Grille: The baskets and grilles are UV-resistant polymer. The baskets encapsulate the woofers' motor systems to prevent corrosion.
Infinite-Baffle Operation: The speakers are optimized for infinite-baffle operation so they can be installed in a variety of locations, without the need for a dedicated enclosure.
Power Handling: JL Audio recommends two RMS power figures for this model; 100 watts RMS continuous power handling and 40-200 recommended amplifier power. We've listed the more conservative 40-100 watts RMS range in the specs table.
