Big performance and sharp styling
Designed to withstand the rigors of the marine environment, JL Audio's M8IB5-SG-TB marine subwoofer brings big bass and subtle style to your boat, and its unique size makes it a great fit on most boats. The free-air design allows you to install it in a bulkhead or another suitable spot, or you can use a large sealed enclosure. Add it to your existing system, or use it in conjunction with JL Audio's marine speakers to create a powerful sound system that will rock the waves. The titanium finish and sport grille design make it a great addition to your boat's interior.

This rugged sub is made for marine use.
Made in USA
Built in JL Audio's Florida factory, this powerful sub uses a marine-grade synthetic fiber spider, injection-molded polypropylene cone, and synthetic rubber surround to withstand the corrosive effects of sun, salt, and spray. A UV-resistant polymer basket protects the entire structure, and special UV protection ensures that the grilles will still look factory-fresh, even after years of sun exposure. As an added bonus, you're protected by JL Audio's 2-year warranty.

Features
Marine Tested: JL Audio's marine subwoofers are subjected to ultraviolet testing chambers (to simulate years of sun exposure) and salt fog chambers (to simulate years of exposure to salt-water environments). Marine-grade stainless steel mounting hardware is included.
Construction: The 8.8" subwoofer features an injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone with a synthetic rubber surround specifically formulated with UV inhibitors for marine use. Marine-grade, synthetic fiber spiders withstand high humidity. The polymer baskets are corrosion and UV-resistant and encapsulate the sub's motor system to prevent corrosion.
Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA): DMA is JL Audio's proprietary method of improving dynamic motor behavior. As a result of DMA optimization, the subwoofer's motor remains linear over a long excursion range, and also maintains a stable fixed magnetic field in the gap over a wide power range. The result is reduced distortion, faithfully reproduced transients, and tight, clean, articulate bass.
Infinite-Baffle Operation: The M8IB5 is optimized for infinite baffle operation so that it can be installed in a variety of locations, without the need for a dedicated enclosure. If an enclosure is used, 1.5 ft³ is the minimum recommended volume.
Polymer Basket And Grille: The UV-resistant polymer basket and grille are corrosion and UV-resistant, protecting the subwoofer and encapsulating the motor assembly to prevent corrosion. If the sub is mounted without the grill, the mounting height is 1.065 inches.

I installed the JL Audio M81B5-SG-TB marine grade subwoofer in the bulkhead under the left rear seat of my 2013 Polaris Jagged X RZR. The Speaker fit perfectly in the space available. The sound quality is awesome and added just the right amount of thump.
