Great sound, but not durable it seems.

Awesome upgrade!

Wow what a difference. Upgraded the speakers we installed a few years ago, very satisfing! Considered adding a sub instead but didn't want to lose the space or spend the extra money for an amp. Glad I chose these instead. They get pretty low and very little distortion considering we are just using a head unit for amplification. Plus the mids and highs were greatly improved, mellow and detailed. Amazing!

They are OK, slight increase in Quality

They are ok. I upgraded my 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom - Front Speakers, Twitters, and Rear Speakers (Crutchfield recommended JL Audio C1-690, JL Audio C1-650x with Twitters). There was a slight increase in sound quality but maybe not worth the work if you are expecting something dramatic. Again it's a slight improvement, the default volume was about 55% before quality dropped, now I can turn it up 70% before quality drops. If I were to compare, they are probably slightly less quality than having the upgraded default Bose Speakers in higher model trucks, which I hear are not your normal high-end Bose Speakers. I would only recommend at a great discount, at $107.99 not worth it ($292.25 for all items mentioned above). Also, the first adapter they sent me for the Twitters was incorrect (Metra 72-4574 Speaker Wiring Harnesses), then the 2nd adapter (Metra 72-4573 Speaker Wiring Harnesses) wasn't correct either, I tried contacting the person who sent me the 2nd replacement to let him know it didn't fit since he took all my vehicle info to put it into the system for future buyers for compatibility but no response from emails or text. (I found elsewhere that I had to cut one sided off housing off to eventually work). Seems like great customer service at first but not sure why they give you all of their "personal" contact details to not respond back. I experienced this with 2 or 3 people I worked with on this purchase. I am on the fence with this experience.

Needs amplifier factory radio won't work they will be quiet

Not loud with factory radio should've left my stock speakers in they were louder honestly. Feel like I wasted money on these aftermarket speakers that are more quiet than the stock speakers previously.

Amazing product! Was planning a major upgrade of the base speaker package that comes on the Kia telluride with complete rewire, dsp and amp. Decided to keep it simple and start with upgrading the speakers first, figuring that I could always go further if needed. So glad I went this route first. These speakers sound phenomenal. Swapped out the front speakers with the c1-650 and used these rears. Such an upgrade over the factory setup. Not even going to bother going further.

13 volkswagen passat. got these powered by an alpine 4ch power pack and they sound phenomenal. mids and highs sound super clear and sounded good even with the stock headunit but after adding the additional power they came to life. have a sundown audio sub hitting the lows so theres no concerns there. would highly recommend these even for stock replacement. thanks crutchfield!

Crisp, clear sound

These were recommended by Hensel, a Crutchfield audio consultant. I informed him that I listen to rock, folk and podcasts, nothing with a lot of deep bass. He recommended these speakers for my application. Very clear sound with tight snappy drums. The quality of the vocals is superb. The head unit is a JVC KD-T920BTS. Installed in rear doors of 2006 Toyota Tundra Access Cab was very simple with the Metra wire harness for each speaker. They allowed use of factory door wire harness connector so no splicing. Easy peasy.

Great value performance!

Great sounding speakers at a great price

These speakers sound great and are a nice upgrade over the factory 6"x9" speakers that came with my 2011 Lexus RX350 (12 speaker system). The midrange is very sweet and detailed, and the response seems tighter and better defined. The speakers are decently heavy with powerful magnets, and the installation was less trouble than I expected. Crutchfield included the wire harness connectors and mounting bracket replacements to fit these specific speakers for my car's install at no charge. I didn't use their instructions (I watched a very detailed YouTube video instead), but everything went without a hitch and took less than an hour for both doors. Really happy with my purchase and will buy from Crutchfield again.

Very pleased so far!

Just installed these after the 12 yr old front right speaker in my CR-V blew. Immediate improvement in overall sound. Greater clarity and fuller range of tones. Will be ordering a second pair for the rear soon. Rating is really 4.5 stars for now after completing over 16 hrs of driving in the past 4 days. If they hold up for a few yrs I'd give them a 5.

Nice speakers for the price

Installed these in the lower front door of mu 2011 Lexus RX350. Speakers came with mounting bracket and plug in wiring so it was really easy-took less than 30 minutes for both sides. Sound is much better than factory woofers. I wish they offered JL Audio for the back doors but I went with a set of Kenwood that arrive tomorrow.

Great coax speakers

Fit perfectly in a JK soundbar with the factory grilles installed back over them. They are positioned behind me while driving and you can only expect a certain level of sound quality coming out of the plastic soundbar, but still friends that ride in the back have said they sound great.

Good speakers for the price. I installed with an aftermarket head unit and some sound deadening and could def tell the difference in sound quality. Only issue is instructions say to use the stock door speaker mount, but the holes didn't exactly line up with the speaker's holes. I had to drill new ones in the stock plastic piece but it worked in the end.

OH NO! What have I done?

Ordered these to the rear speaker set to upgrade my from my stock setup. I ordered speakers and a new head unit but replaced the all the speakers before I replaced the head unit. I tested them with the stock head unit and could barely hear them and didn't hear any difference over stock. I was thinking, "OH NO! What have I done?". I figured the stock unit just didn't deliver enough power. I replaced the head unit... Wholly smokes!! These babies sprung to life and WOW! they're a completely different animal! Punchy bass, great highs, excellent sound through the volume range and different EQ settings - from a 6.5 inch speaker! You can see and feel the quality built into these bad boys. Even though they are the entry-level speakers from JL Audio, no expense is spared in their construction or sound quality! JL Audio is a trustworthy brand and worth your consideration when upgrading your ride. I am totally impressed, they sound fantastic!! Super easy install in the stock locations.

They are well good speakers but it's super low. I got the component for the front & 2way for the back. & the back is way lower bass & volume overall.

Clear but lacks bass

I bought these for the rear doors of my Honda CRV along with the C1-650 components for my front doors in hopes to get more bass and better sound. These speakers are very clear and crisp, but they lack bass. Granted that I am running them without an amp, but I still expected a little more bass. As far as mids and highs, these speakers shine with clarity. I can turn my radio all the way up with little to no distortion. I appreciate that they were easy to install with the brackets and harness supplied by Crutchfield. I'm happy with my purchase, but I am missing the bass.

Excellent Factory Replacement Speakers

Why on earth didn't I do this sooner? The factory speakers on my 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV sounded muddy with lots of bass, but very poor definition in the mids and highs, making even talk radio / news programs difficult to understand. The instructions were spot on for removing the door panels, and the installation was very easy except for the weak negative blade terminal on the speaker. I bent the terminal on 2 out of the 4 speakers on my vehicle when trying to secure the mating connector on the provided jumper harness. But it didn't break, and they sound great! The highs from the built in tweeters are very clear, and the mids are so much more defined. I'm hearing things on tracks I forgot were there. The bass on the factory speakers appear to be targeted at certain frequencies. These speakers reproduce sound so much better across the whole spectrum. If you're looking for a no-brainer way to improve the sound quality in your vehicle, these are a great place to start.

Easy install, dramatic sound improvement.

Very easy install; everything necessary was included per recommendations. Called Crutchfield twice for some basic questions, and they were very helpful. For the CR-V you can just pop out the entire handle, instead of removing the door lock cable per the master sheet instructions - this made it easier. Did not replace the tweeters though; next time would probably do component in front and replace them at the same time.

Chevy Equinox - Great Upgrade

Vehicle: 2024 Chevy Equinox - Non Bose: We installed the C1-650x speakers as replacements for the rear door OEM speakers. They are teamed up with the JL C1-690x speakers in the front doors and the factory head unit. The clarity and sound quality is much improved over the muddy sounding OEM speakers. We would recommend them.

Installed into the rear my '14 Impreza and they are a massive improvement over stock. In combination with a little Alpine KTA450 amp and 407 HU, they have plenty of power and sound great. We can listen to the music AND hear it with the windows down driving 60mph. I've never sat in the back seats.. but they sound pretty good from where I'm at up front!

Disappointed

I'm bought based on Crutchfield customer service advice that these would be better than my stock Bose rear door speakers. They do have more clarity but volume is very poor. Maybe a design issue with 21 Sierras with Bose. Wish I would have saved my money and more importantly my time.

Extremely low volume even when powered by an amp

Bought these speakers for the rear of my 2022 Hyundai Tucson and had a professional install them. The sound for the back speakers is incredibly low and the front ones (also jl speakers) sound 10 times better than the back. The set is hooked up with a sub and an amp but the back speakers barely crank out any sound. I wouldn't recommend these to be honest for how quiet the sound is.

High expectations for the brand, but very disappointed

I have owned a DSP-enabled JL Audio amplifier for several years now and have been very impressed with it. So, when I decided to change the front door speakers in my daily driver (a 2002 MB E320) at a low price point I went with JL Audio --- it had good efficiency numbers and many many many excellent reviews. I was extremely disappointed. The speakers and extremely poor bass handling (vibrations, etc.) and .... when bass boost was turned off, it had literally ZERO bass. I can understand if the speakers sounded terrible in an installation where the speaker was not baffled properly. However, I installed these in the stock location in the door using all the factory mounting points and mechanism. In fact, the factory paper speakers had better bass. To add insult to injury, I then purchased a pair of cheaper speakers (Rockford Fosgates) which sounded *marvelous* in the doors.

Exceptional speakers

I have 4 installed in the doors of a 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz. I am using a JL 4/400 amp with an Audio Control Preamp. They sound absolutely amazing. Sound is clear, no matter the volume level you are listening to. The resonance of these speakers is truly remarkable. I am satisfied with the purchase. As always Crutchfield had the order to me quickly. Couldn't ask for more.

Replaced front door speakers in my 1999 Land Cruiser Prado paired with an Alpine iLX head unit. I see why they are rated so well for OEM+ installs without additional amplification. Sounds great and I was able to eliminate my rears as they perform so well.

They offer more for less

Pretty good sound. Highs are crisp with no harshness at all. Mids are very present and detailed. They play pretty loud and for the price I'm very happy with them, absolutely recommended!

2021 Silverado trail boss LT

I got these in hopes of getting more sound from the rear of my crew cab. The clarity is definitely noticeable. But they are not as loud as the stock speakers with the stock amplifier. I have the non Bose system. But the stock speakers will start to distort much sooner than these with higher volume levels, especially comparing these in the rear to the front door and dash speakers I haven't replaced yet. This is my first purchase from Crutchfield but definitely not my last. I plan on also using this model of 6x9 component JL speakers in my front door and dash. It's great that Crutchfield gave me all the additional materials and details I needed for the install. I also used the baffles behind the speaker to capture more of the sound in the cab which I think helped. Adding a smaller 4 channel inline amp will definitely help these push more mids and highs.

don't waste your money

Bought these speakers because they were supposed to be top of the line and the best of 2024 had them for 20 days. Both of them are starting to make noise and sound crappy. They are on my factory Honda system. No, just had to replace them. Don't waste your money with these.

These speakers fit in rear doors of 2018 Ford Raptor

Great speakers. Installation instructions good. One thing to note these do fit in the rear doors of a 2018 F150 Raptor. On the website it says these only fit the front door. I have the JL C-1 6x9's in the front door and wanted JL for the back so I went with these and they fit perfectly and sound great with my stock stereo.

Fantastic sound!

Perfect fitting speakers and spot-on sound for my convertible Pontiac Solstice with the top down. Crutchfield understood the crisp clear sound I was looking for and recommended the JL Audio C1-650x speakers saying, "These will cut through the noise." I unstalled them and wow! Absolutely correct. I couldn't be happier.

FANTASTIC SPEAKERS! Poor research

Installed in 2018 FORD F150 LARIAT REAR DOOR PERFECTLY! I did that in all caps because they have these incredible speakers as not fitting my year model 150 (and many other f150 year models) crutchfields research is completely wrong on this one they do fit they fit perfectly in fact. Use the spacer that JL provides along with the metro adapter and its a breeze 10 minuets ts install on first rear door less than five on the second. The 6-1/2" that crutchfield recommends is a much deeper speaker (and much more expensive speaker)that doesn't even come close to fitting the metro adapter for this truck forcing you to fab a spacer. I bought and promptly returned them and purchased these AMAZING JL speakers for MY REAR F150 DOOR! Docked one star because crutchfield charged me for the install gear because the speaker is listed as not fitting, crutchfield is clearly WRONG on the f150 research and should refund the install parts PERIOD. 2018 F150 Lariat 5.0 liter supercrew Kenwood dmx-809s head unit, JL C1 -690 6X9'S (ALSO AMAZING!) in the front doors.

Excellent factory replacement & Upy

I put these in my 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 HD, to replace the factory speakers that have probably been shot for 15 years. After a couple of YouTube videos, I removed the door panel easily. The speakers came with a wiring harness that clipped directly to the factory harness. The best mounting option was to drill for small holes, nothing technical whatsoever. The speaker sound amazing and are a perfect match to the factory radio. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. They sounded so good I immediately ordered replacement speakers in the same brand for the back door pillars. Crutchfield has been my source for many years.

These speakers were installed in my 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 along with the JL Stealthbox 10" subwoofer for replacement of the factory Bose system. I will say this setup is a huge improvement from the stock setup. The sound from these are much higher and fuller than before. The system with the stealth box is well worth the price.

Best upgrade from stock system

I recently upgraded my car speakers to the JL Audio C1-650x, and I couldn't be happier. The sound quality is phenomenal, delivering crisp highs and deep, resonant lows. Installation was a breeze,These speakers have truly enhanced my driving experience, I've upgraded to these from my 2015 Subaru WRX's base system and the difference is night and day. As I'm new to the car/audio world Crutchfields instructions have made it simple enough for me to install everything at home. Very pleased.

These worked well with the factory tweeters in our 2022 Promaster van. We can finally hear the words to the songs and that is what we wanted. These were recommended by the Crutchfield advisor. Can't go wrong with Crutchfield.

Sound and quality

These have no bass no matter what you do. My system with them is better but there's almost no mid range with them. if I didn't have subs my stock speakers would be way better than these. The tweeter section on 3 of the 4 I have rattle and one is now throwing my amp into protection mode and visually looks just fine. I did not buy these from Crutchfield but felt as if this information was important for consumers

LS 430 ulgrade

Best bang for the buck. The sound quality surpasses the OEM speakers. They are clear and have enough bass to make the experience more enjoyable. They do come with all the hardware needed to install them, the little back is just hidden slightly I highly recommend them

2018 GMC Sierra w/Factory Bose

Purchased these to replace factory Bose system. Was a little skeptical at first based on feedback received about the swap out and keeping the factory Bose amp, but ended up being very very pleased with the end result. Crisp highs and punchy lows, although not super deep, they still sound great! I will agree that you lose some overall volume at lower levels, but crank the dial and these rock. Additionally, I did an on the spot comparison of the factory Bose versus these, and these JL's have better overall sound no doubt. I would describe the factory Bose speakers as more "hollow" in sound and hitting a lot of the midrange tones. These JLs shine at the high end and some punchy lows. Pair with an aftermarket sub/amp addition and you've got a solid entry/mid level set up.

Speakers replaced the stock rear ones in a 2010 Toyota Highlander. Bass is much cleaner and articulate now. Vocals and instruments are clean with presence. Plenty of volume from the stock head unit.

Less than ideal

They sound ok but nothing to write home about. I don't do a lot of driving and one of the tweeters out already. Maybe a year old at best.
