2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
I Bought these speakers as a direct replacement for my 2023 Silverado. I'm familiar with the quality of JL Audio equipment and these did not disappoint. With that said, I wanted to do some experiments with the installation: 1. The instructions state to mount the tweeter as close to the woofer as possible, and honestly is always how I always did it. I wanted to see what they sounded like with the tweeters in the OEM location on the dash. Well...that lasted about a week, and I moved the tweeters into the door panels, right above the woofers. The imaging was 100 times better and the vocals no longer sound like they are coming from the left side of the dashboard. 2. I installed the speakers and let the factory head unit power them. They actually sounded really good! They had good bass response, and the highs were crisp and not too loud. The only down side was the bass was a bit muddy and loose, but nothing very concerning. About a month later I decided to add an amp and purchased a JBL A6002 amp. Needless to say, this REALLY opened up these speakers. It cleaned the bass up and the vocals are very impressive for this price point! Final thought: For the price, you can't beat the sound quality of these speakers. I may eventually add a subwoofer, or I just may enjoy these speakers on their own. And a huge shout out to Crutchfield who has been my go to for audio/video for 25 years now!

Great Option for Toyota Factory Replacement

2023 4Runner Front Doors These are convenient for a Toyota install if keeping the factory head unit since the tweeters use in-line crossovers instead of separate boxes or attached to the main speaker magnet. This mean that with the use of the supplied harnesses just place the crossover in-line with the tweeter and you are done. A breeze to install. Also, the sound with the factory unit is great, noticeable improvement. Better sound stage and crisper highs. Posible volume levels are acceptable. Finally, these are the best starting point for a system build with amplification and dip as the sound and power handling are there already. Worth the money and Crutchfield makes your purchase even a better value, with adapters and harnesses + instructions.

After about a month of youtubing car speakers, I decided on the JL C1s for my Silverado. I figured I can't go wrong with JL Audio. And I was right. These are an excellent value. They sound better than my friend's Alpine Type R 6x9 components and they sound better than my last speakers Hertz Deici. These put out a clear and crisp sound with nice mid and low bass and easy to install. These are very efficient speakers, right now it's running off of my OEM radio getting about 20W to each speaker, and people think my speakers are amplified. I will be adding JL amp soon to really bring these speakers to their full potential. I think these are the best speakers in the entry level and mid-level price range.
Pros: Very efficient, simple to install. Clear highs and bass.
Cons: Can be a little bright for my taste. But can be turned down with my head unit.

Real easy installation for Toyota Tacoma 2019 TRD off road. Opted to use surface mounts for the tweeters just above the kicker. Looks like they belong there, like it was made in factory that way, real clean look! They state in their instructions the closer the tweeter is to the subwoofer/kicker the better it sounds. Plenty of room under the door panel for the crossover. (Didn't take pics of below the door panel bc I forgot). Sound quality is excellent, couldn't be happier with it. Real clean crisp highs and the kicker makes the bass & lows sound amazing, honestly don't see the need for a subwoofer in the back now. Easy install, sounds great, didn't take too much time at all, would definitely recommend !!

Cons: Have to add surface mount, or drill a hole into door panel to mount the tweeter flush. However, not so much a con bc it looks real clean and crisp even with just the surface mount

Replaced stock speakers from 2012 Tacoma. Excellent product, well worth it. Great bass and mid-bass with excellent balance from the tweeters. Great speakers, fantastic customer service as always from Crutchfield. I would buy these again and I will do business with Crutchfield again.

Great speakers, but one big oversight

First endeavor into JL. Fast delivery from Crutchfield as usual. Pretty impressive set for the price. The actual tweeter sound is excellent; very smooth, yet detailed. The woofer low end is also good down to around 60hz. I got these for my rear deck in my Oldsmobile to get a little more mid-bass, and for something for the rear passengers. The unfortunate part is the lack of a lowpass for the woofer in the crossover. I was a bit shocked to find this when noticing how the crossover wiring was setup. The manual says 'the woofers have a natural rolloff' but sadly, that's not how this works. I am using a custom crossover now and the results are much better. I'm crossing over around 3500hz, 24db. Cleaned up the upper midrange a ton.
Pros: Value for price, tweeter size and material, overall build quality
Cons: Crossover only for tweeter, woofer has no inductor, so it plays frequencies it can't handle

Purchased these to replace factory Bose system. Was a little skeptical at first based on feedback received about the swap out and keeping the factory Bose amp, but ended up being very very pleased with the end result. Crisp highs and punchy lows, although not super deep, they still sound great! I will agree that you lose some overall volume at lower levels, but crank the dial and these rock. Additionally, I did an on the spot comparison of the factory Bose versus these, and these JL's have better overall sound no doubt. I would describe the factory Bose speakers as more "hollow" in sound and hitting a lot of the midrange tones. These JLs shine at the high end and some punchy lows. Pair with an aftermarket sub/amp addition and you've got a solid entry/mid level set up.
Pros: Crisp highs, punchy lows
Cons: Did lose some volume using my factory Bose amp, but that is to be expected considering the difference in ohms.

Installed these in my 2022 Silverado and I am very pleased with the sound. Combined with the JL Audio 6-1/2 coaxial in the rear door and Pioneer 2-3/4 coaxial in the dash. Huge improvement over factory speakers! I installed the tweeters just above the woofer in the door panel. There is plenty of room there and it follows JL Audios placement recommendation. The yellow color is not glaring through the speaker grill. You can see it if you look but won't notice it if you don't.
Pros: Great sound. Quality manufacturing.
Cons: Component speakers are more difficult to install. Invest in a hole saw if you don't have one.

This is a good set of 6x9 that have pretty decent bass and the tweeters sound really well too. Nothing fancy as far as the crossovers go but I just wanted something better than what I had for the family car.

They sound pretty good. Nice detail, treble from the tweeters can be a bit on the sparkly side. At least in my 2016 Toyota Highlander with the tweeters in the dash. Installation was pretty straightforward and the brackets and harnesses that Crutchfield included for free all fit well with the speakers and in my car, though mounting the woofers in the Metra bracket took a bit of figuring out.

For sure an upgrade from stock. Compared to Rockford Fosgate T-series, the build quality is better. Compared to JL C2 Evo, the Evos are quite a bit better. Sound quality is always relative and very subjective, so in my opinion I do not like the way these sound. I notice a lot of missing midrange with this set. I swapped out the tweeters with some different ones and got the range I like. Im only mildly disappointed because i knew better. I knew i should have got the C2 coaxals but I didnt want to spend the money. The only way i would be happy is if i got some C7 series, but again, $500. is the sweet spot for what would make me happy with this build. So im now going with some different stuff altogether. These C1's are coming out and I'm putting something else in. These are good speakers, they just aren't working in my application.

Speakers sound great. Major upgrade from stock. Very clean highs/mids. Wish it had a bit more bass but an amp would probably solve that issue. The only bummer was that my install kit didn't include the wire harness for the tweeters to adapt to my factory wires. Also had to drill a hole in the plastic mounting plates so the tweeters were flush under the speaker covers.

Overall great speakers that improved my the sound of my music without the need of an amp or new head unit. They are a little less sensitive then my stock speakers but turning volume up a couple notches gave the same results. The reason for the 4 star is the brackets for the front door speakers didn't line up very well and the screws that can with didn't fit right. Lucky I some other better fitting screws laying around.

When I ran into trouble with my first order of speakers, the first thing I said to the Tech person, after looking for someone to blame, is "I know just enough to be dangerous." This ordeal was my fault. I didn't use the sales staff or the tech consultants. The fix was better than I'd expected, far exceeding my requirements, and well worth the wait. I can hear EVERYTHING. Moral of the story? Use the staff. It's money in the bank. Oh, that and they were the most empathetic group I've ever dealt with, for an online purchase. Outstanding service and product! Especially for old schoolers who still listen to Bromley Contingent Punk, Electronica, Chill, Club, Classic Jazz, and Adult Alternative.

Only a slight improvement from the stock speakers. During the install process a crutchfield rep informed me my 2021 Tacoma didn't have enough power for this JL speaker. The install was all done and just testing before I put panels on when the rep informed me. I had damaged a factory tweeter in removal so returning wasn't an option. Disappointed the sales rep suggested these.

The 2ways provide excellent bass and the speakers work very well with all my windows down. I am running these off of a stock head unit, but I hope to replace it soon to make the sound even better.

Got them to replace factory speakers in my 2018 Colorado. Still powered by factory radio. Immediately noticed a wider frequency response and more clarity. They are high sensitivity, so dB output is about the same as with factory speakers at a the same volume level. Bass goes deeper now without distortion. Treble had to be set way lower than with the factory speakers because the tweeters are now so much better now.
Pros: More bass. Less distortion. Wider frequency response.
Cons: Expensive. Tweeters could be too bright if not tuned down.

2020 Subaru Outback
Mediocre. I'm not sure what all the rave and hype is about here. I bought these because they were recommended by a Crutchfield advisor, and many people use them for an upgrade in my application. (2022 Outback Wilderness) Also, they were a 6x9 form factor, which I wanted. I tried these both on the factory HU, and with a Kicker Key 200.4 (4x50w). Subwoofer is a JBL Basshub pro. I found myself wanting to turn these up more, while running out of headroom and going into distortion range. The amp helped a little with volume, and EQ, but did little to help with the clarity issues when I drove them harder. There are just so many options in the price range of these, I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze, and they're simply overpriced for what you get. I wish there were more choices in the 6x9 form factor in the 150-300.00 range, but there aren't many save for Kicker choices, which I cannot compare to these. I In the end, these sounded hollow and soul less to me, and I felt like they lacked a lot of vocal midrange / upper midrange detail, and lacked in smoothness. These were also installed with sound deadening in the doors. I'll be returning these and trying Morel 6 1/2's. There are several Morel, Focal, and Hertz choices in this price range.
Pros: Easy install. 6x9 Form factor. Good bass response.
Cons: Tweeters kind of harsh, questionable clarity, easily pushed to distortion. Overpriced relative to sound quality.

Great sounding speakers, a dramatic improvement over the stock premium 9 speaker audio. My only complaint is that is says they are a direct fit with the adapters, but I still had to trim of about half an inch of plastic off the interior door panel. Don't even try to install them with any sort of baffle or silicone drip guard, that 1/8 of an inch will make it stick out too far even with the maximum of plastic trimmed off the door.

I replaced my stock speakers in a 2017 Subaru Forester Premium (no Harmon Kardon) with these. What a difference. Holy cow. These things rip just running off the stock head unit and no amp. Good enough bass for my purposes, as I can feel the woofer vibrations in my legs and just a really nice clean sound. I have a couple other JL C1s to install in the back. Can't wait to hear em. A big thanks to Crutchfield for recommending these.

Great sounding speakers. Very pleased. Installation was not difficult if you read all the instructions before installing... I did not so had to install one of them twice after putting the crossover in the wrong position. I installed in my Nissan Frontier. The tweeters took a little extra work. The included mounting brackets are designed to have tweeter mounted on top. They will not fit under the dash enclosure this way. I had to drill holes in the mounting brackets so the tweeter could be mounted recessed in the brackets. They are plastic so it was not difficult but just FYI they may need to be modified.

Install in 2014 Nissan Frontier SV - good sound but a pinch less bass than I expected. Door to dash wiring for the tweeter was not the easiest but plenty of wire out of the box. All adapters needed provided by Crutchfield. There was a bit of a "break in" timeline with them, adjusting stereo outputs and giving them some time helped. Overall happy with the speakers.

The sound was not as clear as I was hoping it would be and they lack bass. I'm sure I will have to pay a steep restocking fee to return these speakers, but that's far better than getting stuck with something your not satisfied with.

2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness Front- JL Audio C1-690 Rear- JL Audio C1- 650x This was a great upgrade for my wife's car. Install was super easy thanks to all the adapters and brackets supplied from crutchfield. I installed the components in the front. Woofer in the door and tweeters in the dash to replace the stock tweeters. In the rear I installed the 6.5" speaker. At first I was hesitant to get this set of speakers from being on the forums all I read were Focals are the best fr this car. But after talking to a rep and discussing what our genre of music is he suggested I go with the C1's and I'm glad I did these speakers without an amp blew me away with how clear and crisp they are. At first my wife didn't understand why I kept the radio off when we were in the car till I only installed the left side first and showed her the difference and when she heard she said OMG that's a big difference. I'm still on the fence about wanting to amp them later since we have very young boys we don't play the music too loud any ways but I'm curious how much better the sound will be with the kicker key's build in DSP. So if you're on the fence about these running off a stock head unit. All I can say is if I had to buy these again I would!

Disappointed. Are they better than my stock speakers in my 2022 4Runner? They are but not $200 better. My stock system in my base 2017 Camry LE still sounds better. It is a smaller car and they have a woofer in the center dash but still sounds way better than this JL set up. Trying Infiniti speakers next.
Pros: Do it yourself set up
Cons: Bass is dull not satisfying although relatively strong.

2004 Toyota 4Runner
I installed these in a 2004 4Runner, which is using a Pioneer 1770NEX head unit. They are just ok. The sound is good but the volume is considerably lower than the old factory speakers. Install was pretty easy, though the tweeter brackets didn't line up perfectly and required some drilling of the bracket ( in addition to the hole saw drilling you have to do to mount the tweeter itself in the bracket). They are good enough that I'm not going to go thru the trouble of removing them and returning, but I specifically bought these because the high efficiency was supposed to work well without an external amp and I'm not really seeing that. I would stick to something cheaper if I were buying again.
Pros: Clean sound. Relatively easy install. Quick shipping and great info / support from Crutchfield.
Cons: They are substantially quieter than the factory speakers when powered by the 22w rms head unit.

2017 Ford F-150 XLT
Big JL Audio fan and I really really wanted to like these. Going for an upgrade in my 2017 F150 off the stock head unit. Unfortunately off the stock stereo they didn't produce good sound. Actually had better bass coming off the stock foam woofer when comparing L to R channels. I'm sure it would be a different story with a good head unit or amp pushing them. Returned.

With the additional harnesses, installation was super simple and quick in my 2021 Crosstrek. The speakers alone made a really nice improvement to the sound. Next step is eventually getting an amp to bring out their full potential or replacing the head unit for a clearer signal. I can tell the speakers have a lot to say with the right signal!

Great speakers. Easy install on my 19 Ford F150 with Crutchfield's provided mounts. I've got these cut at 80hz and a sub in my system as well. These compliment the sub extremely well and provide a really solid mid-range bass that helps the kick in Rock/Metal really stand out. That's what I was looking for. Really good clarity. They're also powered by a JL Audio Amp and that helps tremendously. Very solid construction and buy with ease knowing these are JL Audio quality. I bought a whole system that wasn't JL Audio for my truck and switched to these once my other selections weren't delivering what I was looking for. I'll now likely only get JL Audio products for any future installations as the quality is unmatched. Yes, you'll pay more but it's worth it!

Great sound, installation was relatively straightforward in 2018 Subaru Forester except for the tweeters. You will need to be prepared to cut wires and crimp to make everything work, also you will need thin metal straping (plumbing supply) to mount the tweeter.

My first impression, these sound clean, but the tweeters are unimpressive. They were easy enough to install. The mounting of the tweeters was a little difficult for my 2nd gen Tacoma. I would also recommend some bass blockers for the tweeters because the distortion and heavy buzz due to bass starts at relatively low volumes.

Install went OK on my 2014 Xterra. The only thing I'd suggest is to provide an interface cable for the woofer/receiver side of the crossover for connecting to the OEM tweeter cable - something similar to the Metra cable that connects the woofer/midrange to the OEM cable in the door panel. It would make for a cleaner install if you're going to mount the tweeter in the OEM dash location unless you want to spend a lot of time routing the cable to the woofer speaker terminals (there are extra terminals on the woofer for connecting the crossover to the woofer). There is an error in the speaker installation manual where it says to cut a 1-1/2 inch diameter hole for flush mounting the tweeter when it needs to be a 1-3/4 inch hole. And the manual says to mount the tweeter within 8 inches of the woofer/midrange while many other sources indicates that the tweeter needs to be mounted at or above dash level. I used the OEM location on the dash which is much more than 8 inches from the woofer (more than 2 feet).
Pros: Woofer/midrange fits door panel without modification. Works well with OEM audio system.
Cons: No vehicle specific mount for the tweeter.

They fit perfectly in my 2016 frontier pro4x. I went with these when upgrading the Rockford stereo. Running off a kenwood ddx9907xr and they sound excellent. I have my high pass set to 100hz and they do very well. Subs take 100hz and below.

Have these powered by a fosgate amp, the 6x9s themselves are crisp and clear with good mid range. The tweeters themselves leave MUCH to be desired, definitely disappointed performance. If you want these for a basic upgrade while running them strictly off a head unit they would be a good buy.

What can I say, JL Audio are great. Crutchfeld specs sheet said these would not fit in the rear deck location on a 2005-2007 Ford/Mercury 500, Taurus, Montego. But since they come with a plastic spacer to flush mount them from the bottom they worked perfectly. I did not install the tweeters because this location does not receive high frequency signals.

Installed these in my 2018 Toyota Sienna. They sound great. Installation: Door speakers fit good with the included mounting bracket, but had to cut thin plastic oval on inside door panel that protrude out to far for these speakers. For the tweeters, I cut the original speakers out, now just a flat bracket, than used this original tweeters bracket and made a curved bracket attaching it to the back of the speakers then to the bolt holding the bracket. Wiring harnesses they sent was not compatible with Vans harness, I threw them out. I pried of the harness attached to the back of speaker, cut the wire that was soldered to speaker and used all of the original wiring harness. The transistor attache to the speaker harness does not seem to effect the sound. I used WAGO 221 lever nuts to attach the wires.

I installed these in in the front door of my 2016 Nissan Frontier. I installed a Sony XAV-AX5000 head unit at the same time. These speakers far exceeded my expectations! Crisp clean highs. Chest rumbling lows. I highly recommend these speakers. Final note on install. I had never taken apart my door panels. With Crutchfield support - it was a breeze. Love you Crutchfield!

My front four speaker blew in my FJ cruiser. For years I went without a proper sound image, priorities over play kept me from buying replacement speakers. My wife got the JL Audio C1 690 component set with all the trimmings from Santa. Thank you Crutchfield for making the entire purchase and install accurate and precise. When I installed the system I thought "there is no way I could have done a pro-like job myself with out Crutchfield's expertise. The sound; a religious experience to say the least. Speakers are an upgrade over factory Speakers in my 2021 Chevy Colorado. BUT be aware that the crossovers in the tweeters that go in the dash behind the tweeters will buzz. I found they were buzzing because of others electronics/wiring in the dash. I had to get extra wiring and mount them at the top of my side pillars and then it took away this buzz. I found out it was the crossovers when I took them along with the tweeters out of the dash to find out why they were buzzing and when I pulled them away from the dash they stopped buzzing.

Buy the dynamat! Powering these with a pioneer DMH1500 NEX head-unit. Clean and responsive with heavy bass if your into it. After EQ adjustments, dialed in to a solid smooth bass response. Midrange seems to be a little off, but I'm not a big fan of "tinny" midrange sound anyway. Seriously, the dynamat was a legit recommendation, I'm adding more to door panels soon.

Excellent product and the sound is day and night over stock. My 2016 F-150 never sounded better. FYI although Crutchfiled states the tweeter can't fit in the stock pillars, it actually fits fine. All you need to do is fabricate a back strap and a little butyl tape on the front edges over the tweeter and it fits perfectly. There is also plenty of room for the inline hi pass crossover. Add some double sided or butyl tape to the crossover, and place it on the pillar. Highly recommend and would definitely buy again for future vehicles.

2015 Subaru Forester
Installed as replacement for Subaru 2015 Forester standard speakers. LOVE THEM. The sound profile is incredible, clear and balanced. Price point is stellar. Installed with a Kicker KEY180.4 amp/dsp. That Key Amp is essential to realize the full potential of these speakers. Highest recc.

2010 Toyota Tacoma
I replaced the stock radio in my 2010 Toyota Tacoma with a new Sony model Sony WX-920BT from Crutchfield. The radio was more powerful than the stock speakers could handle so I purchased these JL Audio speakers. The JL Audio Speakers were a huge improvement over the stock speakers.

2010 Toyota Tacoma
These handle power much better than the stock 6x9s in my 2010 Tacoma with a factory head unit and Alpine KTP-445U Power Pack, but I found that to sound good at higher volumes you need to use foam speaker baffles and dynamat.
Pros: Sounds better than stock, not very expensive.
Cons: Need to do something to combat vibration and distortion at higher volumes.

Woofers and tweeters sound fantastic, I am really happy with the install on my buddies 4Runner, I would definitely recommend this component set if you have component 6x9 fittings. They were very easy to wire and the material and build quality is top notch.

The tweeters were a huge improvement over the factory speakers. They are small, but I could really hear the difference.

Great component system with extremely clear and crisp sound, especially out of the Tweeters.
Pros: Affordable option with outstanding performance for an FJ Cruiser. The JL Audio component system is superior to the other option from Alpine

2013 Toyota Prius V
These sound amazing! Rap, hip hop, and electronic music is incredibly crystal clear. The reason for 4 stars is that the aluminum tweeters are shrill sometimes. The split second cringes come through on "S's" in the lyrics and certain cymbal crashes. Once in a while a guitar riff with hit that shrill spot as well. I usually listen to rock and punk which is where the shrill comes out. I tried to adjust my equalizer to soften these sounds but I couldn't get results without affecting other parts of the music. I will be buying silk dome tweeters to replace these and crossing my fingers for a better result.
Pros: Great bang for the buck! Rap, hip hop, and electronic music sound amazing.
Cons: Aluminum tweeters are shrill in rock, punk, metal, etc.

2017 Toyota Highlander
A significant improvement from the factory system. Great high end and mid-bass/base. The build quality is top notch - they must be losing money on a product built this well at this price point. Highly recommend.

Cons: Could benefit from an amp, as the midrange can get a bit lost in the mix

The 6x9s fit perfectly and sound great but the tweeters do not fit and even if you modify the pillar which I did by the way and ended up breaking the pillar. The excess of wire doesn't fit for the tweeters either.??
