Silk tweeter delivers smooth highs

The C2-525X 5-1/4" speakers feature rugged polypropylene cones with rubber surrounds that can handle high power without distortion, so you get full-bodied low tones you can really feel. The 3/4" silk dome tweeters serve up smooth-sounding high frequencies that won't tax your ears, adding a satisfying dose of realism to your soundstage. Built-in crossovers make sure your tunes play smoothly across the whole musical spectrum. JL Audio includes a pair of grilles that you can use for custom installations.

Features

Woofers: The JL Audio Evolution C2-525x coaxial speakers feature a 5¼" injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone woofer with a butyl rubber surround. The woofer has a 1" voice coil on a Kapton Former, a symmetrical roll spider and a Ferrite magnet. These carefully engineered cones deliver the right combination of stiffness, damping, and off-axis response. The speaker also provides adequate bass, thanks to its ample mechanical clearance, optimized suspension and balanced motor design.

Tweeters: Each coaxial speaker features a ¾" silk dome, ferrofluid-cooled tweeter with a damping neodymium magnet. The edge-driven silk dome tweeter is smooth, detailed (on or off axis), and provides great overall performance. Silk is lightweight and great for high frequency extension and efficiency. It is also designed for durability in the extreme automotive environment.

Grilles: Front-loading protective grilles are included, with black steel mesh and satin silver accents. Electroformed logo nameplates can be positioned on the grilles or elsewhere in the vehicle, according to the needs of the installation.

Power Handling: JL Audio publishes several power specifications for this speaker, 60 watts continuous power handling (RMS), 225 watts peak music power, and 15-100 watts recommended amplifier power (RMS). We've listed the conservative combination of 15-60 watts RMS in the specs table.

I plan on putting 2 good speakers in doors of my 2000 Ford ranger and some bass tubes behind my seats. So Iâ??m looking for the best for high and mid range sounds, are these what I should consider? C2 525x?

Would 20rms/80 peak watts from stereo be enough for good clean sound? I'm not trying to enter a competition I just want some good sound.

That amount of power would be good for a moderate level of sound, I've found these speakers live up to their potential while being amplified. But for day to day listening, the stock power coming from an aftermarket head unit should work just fine for you.

If you're a true audiophile then no. If you don't mind tweaking the head units eq until it sounds perfect to you then yes. I run an amp to my subs and nothing to my component speakers. I did swap my door speakers for some aftermarket speakers and it made a world of difference still powered only by the head unit. I suggest looking for one of the packages crutchfield has. Upgrade till it sounds good to you then go one more upgrade.

I used these with a Kenwood base that was 75 rpm max. I have had great sound ever since, and I didn't break the bank to get great tunes out of there speakers.

Hi, I would say they are moisture resistant due to the poly construction. If you want a good water resistant speaker I would go with the marine application. Either one will not disappoint . I put the set you are asking about in the doors on a GMC truck. But I also have a set of the marine speaker in my motorcycle fairing. Both the same size. Also the folks at Crutchfield won't steer you wrong. Good listening Brian

Is the bass on these speakers sufficient enough? that's half the reason why I'm getting new speakers. My 2013 fiat has horrible bass with its stock speakers and I want to make sure I'm not just being good mid range speakers. I want something to be impressed by in my car. Thank you

Would the c2-525x JL Audio speakers be able to run at 150 Watts per channel? They have a RMS of 100, and a maximum of 225. Any reply would be welcomed

I want to fit these in the rear deck of my 1993 SC400. I would have to make a new base to to bolt down for OEM placement. What diameter does the hole for the new base be for these to drop flush?

I went to the local audio shop looking to upgrade the system in my chevy impala. After explaining what I was looking for out of the system the sales person directed me to jl. They did not have these speakers on hand to listen to which doesn't help anything but whatever. So ultimately after reading probably 50 reviews I'm convinced that the jl are a legit choice..everyone seems to be happy with them. On my issue now is do I go c2 or spring extra bucks for c5? Ultimately, is the difference in the two going to be worth the extra couple hundred dollars, Or will I be completely satisfied with the c2?

I've personally never heard the c5 speakers but I have the c2 speakers in my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and I am more than pleased with the sound quality. If you're running on a budget the c2 speakers will be the way to go.
