Poor Customer Service
Tucker from PORT NECHES, TX on 3/4/2025
2020 Honda Accord Touring
JL Audio is amazing and I've always been a fan. With the information provided by Crutchfield, I was excited to be a new customer. Was reassured everything I purchased would fit my car by customer service. Purchased two sets of these for my 2020 Accord Touring. Spent all day gutting the car, tapping into the factory channels to hook the line output converter and amplifier, running all the necessary wiring for everything, and modifying the car panels to fit the new tweeters. Go to start installing the woofers and they do NOT fit using the adapters Crutchfield provided with my order. The woofer housing and magnets are too large to fit the factory holes in the doors and back deck. The adapters would need to be twice the thickness in order for the woofers to fit. When making a large purchase like this, everything should work FLAWLESSLY. What NOW Crutchfield?
Pros: Beautiful set of component speakers.
Cons: Do NOT fit my car using the adapters provided by Crutchfield.

Have these in a 2020 silverado powered by vx1000/5i. Sounds great just needed to set the crossover to lowest setting for tweeters. Jl tweets are harsh to me but they sound great how I have them now. Dsp is lightly tuned. Need to play with it some more.
Pros: Clear and loud. Despite what I've heard I like the mids.
Cons: Tweets are a bit harsh.

C-3's in 2019 Tundra
Kurt from Beaumont, TX on 12/31/2022
2019 Toyota Tundra
Installed this set in component form in the front. C-2's (coaxial) in the rear doors. Sound deadened inside and outside of the doors and closed cell foam behind the drivers. Also had to build custom mounts from HDPE due to depth differences. I'm powering them with a JL Audio JD 400/4. After a week or so of break in and moderate tuning, I'm really impressed. They are extremely clear, clean and accurate. Zero distortion at all levels. They sound super nice at low volume, and just get better as the volume increases. As a reference, I also installed a JL Stealthbox and separate amp. In summary, they are fantastic and I'm glad I bought them and did the extra work for a solid install. The crossovers come with jumpers to adjust the tweeter and mid bass levels, but I found no need to adjust anything. Plus, they will go to extremely loud levels. Much louder than I need, but I do crank it from time to time
Pros: Well engineered, super clean sound at all volumes
Cons: Expensive but worth it to me

Sounds great, good clarity. I love the versatility of being able to mount it coaxially or as components. Only down side is the tonal qualities are a little high when it comes to drum beats. Kind of bim/bam when there should be a boom, if you know what I mean.
Pros: Clarity, versatility, 75watt RMS, adjustable tweeter level
Cons: Higher tone when the beat kicks.

Dont cry about the money
These are the best speakers I have ever heard. I've waited 3 years to write a review for these. I have a 96 bronco and have 2 sets in there. I had to make fiberglass enclosures for these in the doors and rear panels. If you have open air mounts these are not the speakers to get. You need enclosures to really make these pop. Also you have to tune these. I had to tune the passive x overs, the matching JL amp, the enclosures and even my Spotify app to get what I wanted. But I'll tell you I wanted perfection and for the price I expected it. The expectation has been met. I came up around stereos with Bose, klipsch and Harmon kardon and I know those are primo but honestly there's no touching these from JL. If I let the amp run to 60 hz these speakers will thump into your back. I have them cut off at 120 so the sub can do the dirty work but turn off the sub and it's amazing. People that ride w me are always asking me to play the speakers for other people because they can't believe the quality. Mind you this is in an old school bronco that has enough space inside to fit a new bronco. I have all JL gear and I see the haters out there with competitor products handmade and 50% the cost talking bad. Talking like JL price is inflated blah blah blah. I'll say it one thousand times.you pay for what you get and I got the best. Don't hate on JL cause they make a sound system that'll be thumping long after I'm dead. These speakers are for the gods.

Overrated and way over priced
Daniel from LANSING, MI on 5/21/2021
2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
Bought these back in January and just got around to installing them yesterday. The main reason I chose these speakers is because they are JL Audio, one of the most well known car audio brands out there. I wanted quality speakers, I paid a quality price and I received a box of disappointments. Right out of the gate there were problems. In the woofer theres a little metal ring where the removable plug goes to convert from component to coaxial. Idk what happpened maybe it came loose or who knows what but when the plug is on the woofer it pushes on that ring causing the woofer to sound like its blown. When the plug is not attached its just the normal disappointing sound that these will give you. Only 1/4 speakers had that problem. But all 4 speakers have some problems they all have in common, such as not being able to handle much power. The tweeters give a really bad sound idk how to describe it but its not what I was expecting especially for this much money. This is not the first JL Audio product to leave me disappointed but it will be the last because never again will I buy JL Audio anything. Dont be fooled by all the hype you see online, its probably all a marketing scheme making fake youtube vids and forum posts praising JL audio to get people to buy this junk. I would not recommend these to anyone they are not worth the money. Not even worth 1/4 of the money to be honest.
Pros: Absolutely nothing
Cons: Price, performance, sound quality, power handling, tweeter, subwoofer, JL Audio the biggest conman company ever

READ FOOL, LOL
My Man from Chicago, Il on 4/19/2021
I've been enjoying the services of "Crutchfield" for almost 30 years, never posted a review, felt compelled, so LISTEN! I've been waiting to update the sounds of my system to purchase the JL Audio C5-650s since last year (out of stock- y'all feel my pain those who KNOW Lol), until I said "Self, Why don't you check out the little brother C3-650s?" Besides NOT being as expensive (oh wow, I'm SO mad at that), and NOT having a PEAK power range (C5 - 225/C3 - 150 (although "I'M" not playing continuous PEAK POWER, even at 150 Lol)), the C3 has a BIGGER Tweeter (C3 - 1"/C5 - 3/4") and a higher Sensitivity (C3 - 90/C5 - 89.5), so I, hesitantly, purchased the C3-650s. Lo and Behold, I'm STILL smiling right NOW ( can't you FEEL it) at how Excellent my system sounds! "YOU'RE" Happy now from my motivation about this Component, I just had to tell you folks. I tried MULTIPLE Components (Morel, Focal, etc), NOPE!! The "JL" Silk Tweeters resonate exquisitely (hope spell check worked on that word), especially with me listening from Mobb Deep, Editors (Julian Plenti), Doom, Wu-Tang (everybody "says" they do, I guess they the "GO-TO" rap group to "think" you're cool/hip Lol), ATCQ (A Tribe Called Quest lol), Police, Loose Ends, R Kelly (Framed - "NO" One R&B Competitor with HIM in a "VERSUS" Lol), Beethoven, Bloc Party, Stevie Wonder, Chicago (Hits fool), Bad Company, Rush, Prince, Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Drake, Migos, Miles Davis.
Pros: Well, You get Upgraded Sound if you buy
Cons: Well, Your Choice in LIFE, DOG, WHATEVER you choose in it, LIVE IT TO THE FULLEST!!!!!!! PEACE

3rd Gen Toyota Tundra CM install
Crutchfield customer from Austin, TX on 3/28/2021
2021 Toyota Tundra
Installed in a 2021 Toyota Tundra. If you have a 3rd Gen Tundra, the fit guide on here says they do not fit. They do fit. But you'll have to make a custom bracket that is 1" (maybe 1 and 1/16") thick. Measure and build. These speakers are worth it. Use the 3/4" high bracket Crutchfield sends you for free with the speakers, trace the outline of their bracket onto a 1/4" plastic cutting board from Walmart. Cut it out with a jig saw. Use 3/4" MDF to make a circle the speaker will attach to. Make the MDF circle about the same width as the raised part of the bracket they sent you. Screw the MDF to your cutting board frame. I put Dynamat and a droplet cover on the back of mine. JL C3-650: They sound incredible. I returned Polk components and replaced them with these. If you're just starting your build, drop the extra cash on these. You get what you pay for. Use Dynamat in the doors. Did mine double layered outer sheet, and inner sheet. They sound amazing with the Dynamat. Zero vibration. For a Tundra get two 36 sq ft packs of Dynamat to double layer all four doors and the rear wall for the subwoofer. I paired these C3s with a JL 10TW3 in a custom box. Powered with a Rockford Fosgate R2-750X5. This amp is officially rated to put out 50watts RMS. However they underrate them. Its certificate shows its putting out about 62 watts at 4ohm. These C3s are rated to 75watt RMS. The 62 watts they're getting is plenty. They sound phenomenal.
Pros: They sound great. Worth the extra money. The front doors are the key to your system. Put them in Dynamat'd doors. Pair with a JL 10TW3.
Cons: None.

So I just got these installed in my 2nd Gen. Coupled with C2 650x in the rear doors and powered up with a RD400/4. The speakers are are very powerful and dynamic. Sturdy design with crystal clear highs and mids. Wonderful product, took a chunk out of my budget.
Pros: Loud Component speakers Highs Carry Long Distance Clearly Crossovers make them very dynamic Very clean at full ranges w/proper amt of power Quality and Fit 100%
Cons: Expensive Product Needs Amp for full experience More Labor/Time - additional wiring and mounting Not hard to make the budget get tight quick.

Boys and girls get ready to rock, or what ever you listen too.
Chas621 from Roscoe, IL on 6/12/2013
2005 GMC Sierra 1500
Been there done that with audio electronics, my son blew the cheaper speakers, I had, won't name them. I have a 2005 GMC Extended cab truck, it had the bose system before I replaced the cheap factory crap. So here's the scoop, these JL Audio C3-650 are not the most expensive or best on the market but these bad boys hold there own. I've been researching replacement speakers for over a month, from Hertz to tin buck two. Like I said been there done that for a long time, since 1983. Now I'm grown up not really, but an electronic engineer. But I love LOUD HARD and CLEAR ROCK N ROLL. I travel the world so you get the picture. What these speakers bring to the table is clear loud music no matter what your kind of music is. I also have two 12's subs keeping the bass. the cross overs are awesome and wont blow, when it gets to hot it cuts off the speaker, and goes into time out and doesn't burn up. I could say a lot more stuff to wow you, but I'll let the speakers do that. I very much recommend these speakers to anybody who cant afford the higher end, by the way I liked them so much I bought another pair, now I'm, really rocking. Just make sure your amp has a HPF filter they are not made for bass. the bass freq will blow them if you go above the recommended spec. My next step will be two 10w6v3d4'S TO really ROCK. By the way Crutchfield goes out of there way to accommodate any and all questions, no question is to dumb for them, the only stupid question is the one not asked.
Pros: The Whole system
Cons: not a thing

Just hooked these up with a Alpine HU and a Fosgate amp and they sound amazing... they have a clean smooth, rich, bassy sound to them, just enough highs to sound great! I have C3-600's in the front doors that sound about the same, together with a JL Audio bass and they create a music experience.. I've done very little adjusting with the head unit EQ and I've just been amazed,, JL Audio makes some incredible speakers.. I can't say enough about them..
Pros: Good rich clean sound.. They just sound great..
Cons: I have nothing here..

I had these installed my a custom shop here in town. Soundsational does excellent work anyone in the Indianapolis area. One of the component sets blew the woofer because i had them running off of the head unit power. Crutchfield immediately sent out a replacement to swap them out, great customer service! I paired these with a JL audio XD600/6 and ran 4 channels to these and the other 2 to the rear speakers. Wow, what a difference. Pair these with a good, clean amp and you are in business.
