Wireless command of your off-roader's accessories
Wireless command of your off-roader's accessories
When you're a serious powersports fanatic, you're not satisfied until you've got the most creative lighting and accessory setup in town. And while having lots of ways to play with your toy is nice, it can be a hassle to keep track of all the different controllers for your lights and other 12-volt extras. The Garmin PowerSwitch digital switch box saves the day by allowing you to command up to six accessory outputs through your smartphone, tablet, or the touchscreen display of your compatible Garmin portable navigator.
Works with lights and other add-ons
You won't have to cut apart your vehicle's dash to install the PowerSwitch, and it won't interfere with your vehicle's electronics, either. An IPX7 waterproof rating ensures the PowerSwitch will withstand long-term use. This convenient box offers convenient command of several accessories for your side-by-side, ATV, UTV, snowmobile, or other powersports vehicle, including (but not limited to):
- Winches
- Air suspensions
- LED lighting/running lights
- Headlights
- Fans
- Horns
- Differential locks
Note: All accessories must be rated at no more than 30 amps each to work with the PowerSwitch, with a total maximum output amperage of 100 watts.
Customized control
Once you've connected the PowerSwitch to your devices, you'll be able to pull up an accessory control screen through the PowerSwitch app on your phone or tablet, or using your compatible Garmin portable GPS navigator. You can create custom virtual switch panels with labels to activate groups of channels and control dimming and flashing. When it's paired with a Garmin Tread powersports navigator, you can set smart activation settings to engage accessories automatically based on the time of day or how fast you're going.

Features
Overview: The Garmin PowerSwitch is a digital switching box that allows you to control your vehicle's 12-volt accessories from a compatible Garmin navigation device or your smartphone. PowerSwitch can power up to six accessories at a time with circuits rated up to 30 amps each, or up to 100 amps for all circuits. The PowerSwitch comes with 3-foot lengths of power (4 AWG) and ground (10 AWG) wire, and ring terminals for the accessory and remote connections.
Compatible Devices: PowerSwitch uses Bluetooth to connect to compatible Garmin navigators and smartphones. The compatible navigation devices (Tread, Overlander, RV 1090, and RV 890) have a PowerSwitch app already installed. The PowerSwitch smartphone app is compatible with Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch) running iOS 13.0 or later. It also works with Mac, requiring macOS 11 or later and a Mac with the Apple M1 chip. For Android devices, the app requires Android 6.0 and up.
PowerSwitch App: The display of the PowerSwitch is divided into six segments for the six connected accessories. For each accessory, you can customize the switch panel with labels, icons, and colors. You can also group channels together to control them with a single control. Smart switches can be added to automatically activate, based on vehicle speed, or specific times. Switches for lights can also be configured for dimming or flashing. The app can control up to 4 Garmin PowerSwitch remote boxes from one device. On the PowerSwitch itself, each accessory connection has a physical on/off button for local control.
Connections: PowerSwitch features six screw terminals (#8-32) for the accessories you want to control. The positive wires for the accessories connect to PowerSwitch while the negative wires are grounded to the vehicle frame, a ground distribution block, or directly to the negative terminal on the battery. Accessories that use 20-30 amps should be connected with 10 AWG wire. For 10-20 amp accessories, connect them with 12 AWG wire. You should use 14 AWG wire for accessories that use less than 10 amps. Two control inputs are provided (with #8-32 screw terminals) that let you turn on customizable outputs (configured in the PowerSwitch app). No power/ground wire is included for connecting your 12-volt accessories. Ring terminals for 10-12 AWG wires are included in the box. PowerSwitch connects to the vehicle's battery directly with the 4 AWG red power wire and the 10 AWG black ground wire (both included). The power wire has an in-line 125 amp fuse that is user replaceable.
Installation: The PowerSwitch must be mounted close to the battery, within range of the supplied power and ground cables (3 feet). Two screw flanges are provided for securing the device to the mounting location. It should be mounted where the temperature doesn't exceed 185°F. It is designed to operate in wet conditions, and has an IPX7 water rating.
