Features
Overview: The Garmin Montana 700-series handheld GPS navigators can be mounted in several different vehicles and vessels. This Marine Mount (010-12881-02) lets you install the device on the your boat. The mount includes a cradle that tilts and swivels for best viewing. The attached power cable supplies 12-volt power, ground, and serial data connections, plus an audio jack.
Swivel Bracket: The Marine Mount includes a swivel base that can rotate in either direction. The cradle attaches to the base along a horizontal shaft, allowing it to tilt approximately 150° (10° forward/140° backward). The swivel base does NOT include mounting hardware. You will need to supply three #8 (4mm) pan head machine bolts (with nuts and washers), or three #8 (4mm) pan-head self-tapping screws. If bolts and nuts are used, a 5/32" (5mm) drill bit will be needed for drilling the bolt holes. If you're using self-tapping screws, a 1/16" (1.5mm) drill bit is needed for drilling starter holes.
Security Screw: The mounting cradle is equipped with a T-10 Torx security screw to help prevent theft of the device. A Torx security tool is included for tightening or loosening the security screw.
Wiring Harness: The mounting cradle has an attached 74" cable for hardwiring the mount to the boat's wiring. The cradle's 6 pins match the metal contacts on the back of the Montana device. When the device is not connected to the cradle, a rubber cover is provided for protecting the cradle's contact pins from the elements. The wiring harness has the following wire connections:
- Red: Power (+) (has an inline 3A ATM mini-fuse)
- Black: Ground (-)
- Yellow: Serial data input
- Blue: Serial data output
- Green: Serial ground wire
- Audio Jack: female 3.5mm connector
Note: The wires should not be run near high-heat sources.
