Stuck in Alaska
James from Clarkston, WA on 5/27/2025
I just started using it, but I was nice to use the voice controls to set a destination. It is a bit picky about how you say it, but does work most of the time. Inputing the address is always reliable. The voice of the unit sounds a bit too unnatural for me, but I guess I can get used to it. Especially as the Garming gives me lots of useful information during my route. I expect that this Garming will last me for a long time!

Nice GPS
Betty from Fennville, MI on 5/19/2025
Nice GPS. I like the features. Wish I had bought a size bigger - this is larger than my cellphone but smaller than the GPS in my car; but then I also don't want something using up the windshield real estate, so this is perfect. I like that I can talk to it and it understands me. I have yet to use it on a trip, so can't say how well it navigates.

Decent but not great
Daniel from Hobbs, NM on 1/11/2025
Easy to use. Don't like the starting nag screen to agree to every time it's turned on. This is a nice navigator IF you are navigating in a city or on major highways. The maps do NOT show streets in a rural setting like those going off highways out of town. Garmin maps are not as good as Google maps. If you navigate rural places, this is not the navigator to do it with. I happen to navigate rural areas and I'm not happy that the streets don't show up even when the maps have been updated. It shows you driving in the middle of nowhere. That's why just 3 stars.
Pros: Easy to use Reroutes easily
Cons: Nag screen Maps not complete

DriveSmart 66 with backup camera
Joseph from Erwin, TN on 5/9/2024
I got my new DriveSmart 66 accidently. I had bought a backup camera that wasn't compadible with the other unit I had, so I bought the DriveSmart 66. Everything worked fine. I've been running Garmin GPS's for quite a few years and they've changed a lot. One was the addition of a backup camera. I like that updating the maps is free now. Time will tell if I like the new 66. BTW you can't get a better deal and service then Crutchfields and they didn't pay me to say this.

Pretty Good
Stephen from Evansville, IN on 11/22/2023
Found this model, DriveSmart 66, a little hard to read , especially when it went split screen, so I'm exchanging it for the larger DriveSmart 86. It had some trouble routing the last few miles of a trip, trying to send me down a service road instead of the main road. It was fairly easy ( if not completely intuitive ) to edit and correct the route, and to add stops along the way. (Mapquest and Garmin picked the same route, but Google Maps and Apple Maps routed it correctly) Was nice to have passing through Atlanta. I like that I can add a backup camera for our camper later on.

Nice little GPS
Brian from Corcoran, MN on 10/4/2023
The screen is much brighter and clearer than my old GPS. It is nice to be able to customize routes. Something my old GPS could not do either.
Pros: Screen quality Overall features
Cons: Cannot display miles remaining and ETA at the same time.

Garmin DriveSmart 66
John from Arlington, MA on 6/2/2023
This version of the DS 66 was exactly what I was after. Other sites advertise this version but ship what is referred to by Garmin as the "Walmart version". Guidance and advice from the Crutchfield Advisor was spot-on. Another great purchase from Crutchfield!

Great unit.

An excellent GPS that surpasses the factory installed Acura trash in my vehicles. It's inconvenient to have a separate unit. However, the functionality is worth the inconvenience!

Awesome Screen Resolution!
Steve from Owings Mills, MD on 12/5/2022
I bought the Garmin Drive 52 and had issues reading the display because of my poor vision. The Drive Smart 66's screen is incredibly sharp and very sensitive. I love it!
Pros: Very responsive to touch and voice commands Impressively fast processor
Cons: Power cable detaches from the adapter that plugs into a 12V receptacle.

Not what they used to be
Crutchfield customer from Rome, GA on 1/8/2022
I bought this to replace a Drivesmart 51 LMT which I purchased 2-3 years ago but began to have problems acquiring and keeping a signal. After calls to Crutchfield and Garmin tech support and trying all their suggestions with little if any improvement, I decided to buy this unit. Larger screen and other features make this a nice GPS. The unit performed a software and map update immediately upon powering it up the first time. However, it appears to have the same issue as the 51 and has trouble maintaining a satellite signal even with a clear sky. On cloudy days it's probably best to just leave it at home. Had to use Google maps on my phone to bail me out more than once. The newer units just don't seem to perform as well as my original Nuvi 760.

the price was right, wife won't let me open it until Christmas day. If it works as advertised can't say it isn't what I'm looking for. I have a long history with Garmin GPS' with zero problems, I sure this will live up to company products
