Much better sound

Very good sound quality with DVD, CD music and Direct TV programs and Netflix on TV internet connection. Replacement for Sony STR ANT1000. The ANT1000 had poor sound quality so I returned it. I am very glad I spent $200-300 more money on the STR-AX1000ES.

Sony ES STR-AZ1000ES

No preamp outs Lightweight power supply, easily haft the weight of previous Sony. Thus, limited speaker load. Remote sucks Almost no controls on the front of the receiver. I have it hooked up to a Bravia Sony tv so that I can use one remote. I have the Receiver in the closet. But I have to use the receiver remote to control most features by opening the door of the closet.

This is a multi zone multi room receiver, but has no app support to be able to control it from the other rooms. To turn on zone 3, for example, you have to go to the room with the physical receiver and point the cheap, crummy remote at it to tune it on. Pathetic!
Pros: Any pro is killed by lack of an app to support multi room control
Cons: No app support for multi room operation. Provided remote is cheap junk.

This receiver is an amazing piece of Sony es machinery. Capable of doing everything I would ever want it to do. Amazing audio capabilities and the picture is clear as day with the 4K picture enhancement. With digital streaming and Bluetooth capability, it really makes video night convenient and stress-free in your living room. It has the potential to hook up every piece of audio video equipment you own. The only thing that could use an upgrade is the wattage for the 2 front speakers. Former Sony receivers had the option to run in a mode when only the two front channels were receiving 200 w to each when ran in stereo mode. All in all I'm very pleased with my purchase. This is definitely an excellent example of the state of the art quality that Sony ES products are notorious for and loyal Sony customers have come to expect.
Pros: Vivid picture and real life battlefield audio recreates a night to the theater in your own living room. Along with the potential to connect every type of electronics. Well worth the money.
Cons: The only other thing I wish you could do is to deliver a high wattage signal to the front to channels to run some sizable home stereo speakers for those who have their home theater set up in stereo mode.

Great upgrade from 2017 Sony model

Very easy to setup -360 sound is very good and it works really well with my Sony 77 80J -I replaced a Sony STRDN-1070 and the upscaling sound and Video is much improved giving me a brighter video.

Time to Upgrade

Waited a long time to upgrade and he AZ1000ES was the center piece, remote made it simple to change over from the prior Sony receiver and everything got simpler with the AZ1000ES. Less cables and the eARC manages all the connectivity. Got the Sony 65in OLED for the 4K pic and upgraded the cables and the Roku. As always the Crutchfield team from Trish in sales to the tech support were terrific. Crutchfield is the best. Last note 4K streaming has less content than I thought and had to upgrade subscription on YouTube. Overall glad I changed out the receiver and TV. Go Crutchfield JJF RI

Great sound and tons of features!

I really like the sound and features on this receiver. Maybe too many features. The setup is a little complicated but once you get it set up it works great. I am not sure I could make it any easier to set up myself.

I pre-ordered this receiver as soon as it hit Crutchfield. Once out of the box, setup was easy, connected my Polk R200s and Polk R300, AppleTV and cable box. All done in less than 15 minutes, simple. Once powered up, the unit did a software update and shortly thereafter, I was watching movies. I am very satisfied with this purchase!
Pros: ES build quality is exceptional. Easy setup with the updated GUI menu.
Cons: None so far.

Sony ES STR-AZ1000ES

Few things are little off with this receiver! The analog picture is not really working, one of the reasons I bought this receiver!! Very confusing manu? The sound is better then I was expecting which is good!
Pros: Good center Channel Separation clear, sound!,
Cons: It doesn't pass Analog video signals?! Menu is confusing!!
