Product Research
Features
Overview: CFexpress memory cards are a natural evolution of XQD and CFast memory card standards. They are built for the high-speed data transfer of high-resolution bursts on full-frame DSLR or mirrorless cameras, or high-bitrate video on professional grade camcorders. CFexpress cards have approximately 3.7 times the read and write speeds, compared to an XQD card. Physically, CFexpress Type B cards are the same size as XQD cards, and, in some cases, can work in cameras that accept XQD cards. In some cases, a firmware update will be necessary for XQD-compatible cameras to be able to use the new CFexpress card. As of April 2022, this Sony Type-B CFexpress card is compatible with the following cameras:
- Canon EOS-1 X Mark III
- Canon EOS R3
- Canon EOS R5
- Nikon Z6
- Nikon Z6 II
- Nikon Z7
- Nikon Z7 II
- Nikon Z9
- Nikon D5
- Nikon D6
- Nikon D500
- Nikon D850
Blazing Fast Transfer Speeds: The 256 GB G-series Sony CFexpress memory card has a write speed of up to 1480 MB/s, and read speed of up to 1700MB/s (compared to 400 MB/s write speed and 440 MB/s read speed for XQD cards). Type B CFexpress cards have two PCIe lanes, compared to the smaller Type A CFexpress cards, which have one. The CFexpress memory card's higher data transfer speeds are not only for high-resolution burst shots or high bitrate video, they can help to speed up your workflow and improve productivity to give you more time for your creative work.
Protection: This Sony CFexpress card's external shell is designed for toughness, with 3 times more rigidity than the CFexpress standard, plus additional tests of up to 70 newtons of force. The contact pins are recessed to protect them from dust, electrostatic shock, or damage from impact. The G-series card is tested to withstand 5-meter drops (16.4 feet). In addition, the card is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures (-13°F to 158°F), X-rays, electrostatic shocks, and intensive UV sunlight.
Optional Card Reader: Sony's optional MRW-G1 CFexpress card reader can help you with the transfer and backup of large amounts of data, such as high-resolution photos and high bitrate videos to a PC. It works with Sony CFexpress Type B and Sony XQD G-series cards.
File Rescue Software: The Sony G-series CFexpress memory card is compatible with Sony's File Rescue software, which helps recover damaged or lost data. File Rescue uses an advanced algorithm to recover RAW images, MOV movie files, and 4K XAVC S movie files, captured on Sony and Nikon devices. Sony's File Rescue is available for free download to devices running Windows 10, Windows 8.1, or Windows 7 only.
