Features
Optics: The Sony E 50mm F1.8 OSS (SEL50F18) standard prime lens is compatible with the Sony α interchangeable lens cameras with the E-mount and APS-C-sized image sensor. It cannot be used on a camera with the Sony A-mount. The lens provides a 35mm full frame equivalent focal length of 75mm. It comes with the ALC-SH116 lens hood, and front and rear lens caps.
Optical Steady Shot (OSS): The SEL50F18 has built-in Optical Steady Shot (OSS) lens stabilization. When mounted to a compatible camera, Optical Steady Shot can compensate for camera shake to prevent blurred images, especially in low light situations. The shake compensation is equivalent to 4 stops.
Focusing: The lens can be used in the auto-focus, direct manual focus, or manual focus modes. You can switch between focusing modes in the camera menu. In Direct Manual focus, you can fine-tune the focus by turning the focusing ring after initially auto-focusing. Manual focusing is performed with the focusing ring as well.
Lens Hood: The lens comes with the bayonet-type ALC-SH116 lens hood to prevent stray light from entering the lens causing lens flare. When installed, the lens hood adds about 1.7" to the overall length of the lens. When shooting with flash, you should remove the lens hood to prevent shadows at the bottom of the picture.
