Optics: The Sony FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS (SEL70200G) telephoto zoom lens is compatible with the Sony α interchangeable lens cameras with the E-mount. It cannot be used on a camera with the Sony A-mount. The lens has a focal length of 70-200mm with 35mm full frame cameras like the A7 (ILCE7 and 7R), and 105-300mm on cameras with APS-C-sized image sensors. The lens features an aluminum alloy barrel, and comes with the ALC-SH133 lens hood, tripod-mount collar, front and rear lens caps, and a storage pouch.

Sony G Lens: Sony's G lenses are designed and manufactured to the highest standards of optical performance. The SEL70200G lens utilizes original Sony technologies to achieve superb clarity and sharpness to maximize the performance of Sony's advanced imaging sensors and camera systems.

Optical Steady Shot (OSS): The SEL70200G has built-in Optical Steady Shot (OSS) lens stabilization. When mounted to a compatible camera, Optical Steady Shot can compensate for camera shake to prevent blurred images, especially when zoomed in all the way, or in low light situations. Gyro sensors built into the lens can detect even the slightest movement and compensate for any image blur that might occur. There are two Shake Compensation modes: Mode 1 compensates for normal camera shake, while Mode 2 compensates for camera shake when panning (left-right or right-left). The shake compensation is equivalent to 4 stops.

Internal Focusing: The FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS lens features internal focusing. Only the middle groups of the optical system move to achieve focus, so the overall length of the lens does not change. Internal focusing helps you achieve fast auto focusing. Because the front of the lens does not rotate, using a polarizing filter is more convenient.

Focus-mode Switch: The lens features a focus-mode switch that allows you to switch between AF (auto-focus) and MF (manual-focus). For auto-focus photography, both the lens and the camera need to be set to AF. For manual-focus, either or both the camera or the lens should be set to MF.

Focus Hold Buttons: Three Focus Hold buttons are provided between the focus and zoom rings. When shooting in AF mode, pressing and holding a focus hold button will cancel auto-focusing, allowing you to release the shutter at a fixed focus. When you release the button and press the shutter button again to start auto-focusing.

Focus Range Limiter: The SEL70200G lens has a focal length range of 70mm to 200mm. The Focus Range Limiter can save you time during AF operation, preventing the lens from "hunting" through the entire focusing range. When the Focus Range Limiter is engaged, the lens will only focus between 9.8' (3m) and infinity.

Tripod Mounting Collar: When using a tripod, the included tripod mounting collar lets you attach the tripod to the lens instead of the camera, providing much better balance. When the collar locking knob is loosened, you can quickly and easily switch between vertical and horizontal shooting by simply rotating the camera in either direction. Collar indexes (gray dots) are provided at 90° intervals to accurately indicate vertical and horizontal positions.

Lens Hood: The lens comes with the bayonet-type ALC-SH133 lens hood to prevent stray light from entering the lens causing lens flare. When installed, the lens hood adds about 2.7" to the overall length of the lens. When shooting with external flash, you should remove the lens hood to prevent shadows at the bottom of the picture.
