Died in less than 3 years.
Neil from REDMOND, WA on 7/2/2025
1997 Honda Civic
Product performed will with very light use for 2-3 years, but then just died. Subwoofer output worked, screen light up, all buttons and dial worked. Did a soft reset by holding two buttons, did a hard reset by disconnecting from the battery. Because the subwoofer still worked, and because all other features still worked (and all connections are through one wiring harness) it seems the amplifier hardware just died. Had to by a new one, same model, since I have already hard wired all the connections and I'd rather not have to do that all over again. A car stereo should last more than 2-3 years.
Pros: Connected to my phone, was able to setup for phone calls, easy interface.
Cons: Either poor quality or just a bad unit. Pulled the short straw.

Actually terrible user interface. You will need to keep the manual handy and read through it thoroughly before attempting to navigate the unit. I would not recommend this.
Pros: Dial for volume, multiple audio input methods.
Cons: How about you didn't contact your phone? I know it says you're connected, but like what if you weren't?

Good sound and good prices and Great help!

2004 Mercedes-Benz ML350
Good equipment suggestions -- but Pat, and Gill of Crutchfield support made things work. Had to do a custom setup in a 2004 Mercedes ML350 with an old BOSE system. What a trick. We talked about a simple 2 speaker-2 Tweeter setup in the Dash. They assured me it would be good. Worked out and sounds solid. Lots of features that bring car to 21st Century. Used Alpine 4 inch speakers on sale. Also, get the box that fills the double Din Space . I mounted tweeters in the Box floor near the back of the Box. Lots of whittle-n.

Disappointing unit!!
Jay from Pittsburgh, PA on 6/16/2025
2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee
This particular car stereo system leaves much to be desired. I've found it challenging to set the colors on the unit as well as finding it a difficult stereo to learn all about the controls. Then when I think I've turned off the 'beeps' on the system and yet it continues to beep when I turn off the vehicle and exit it. QUITE IRRITATING!!! I've even had people who are technologically savvy helping me and we still can't get what we want. Also, the manual install went well but the techno to sync with the Maestro interface was tremendously laborious. Mostly a disappointing experience!! I wonder if anyone will contact me to chat about my situation? UPDATED 6/24/25: Thanks for getting back to me and suggesting a phone call! As you mentioned navigating the settings can be tricky..and it is! Good news though, I finally figured everything out! Many thanks to all you tech support people! The Crutchfield team is Awesome!!

Decent stereo, Good value, It's a Sony!
Kevin from Mansfield, MA on 6/5/2025
2000 Ford Mustang
This Sony is pretty decent. It feels solid, works well, is fairly intuitive to use. Has a big knob which is something I really like and harder to find these days. Color change of buttons and screen is nice to match to existing interior lights and is dimmable. I run a factory system with built in amps (Ford Mustang Mach 460 system), so I can not comment on it's own power/wattage output. 3 sets of pre-amp outs. The button layout is basic and simple to use. I recently purchased a JVC unit for another vehicle a couple months back and this Sony is much better and easier to navigate in my opinion. BT wireless works well for music playback as well as the USB port. Pairing is easy, though I have not used/set up the phone calling feature yet. Only complaints I have is the glare off the headunit does not allow the screen to be seen well in daylight, even in the shade. I experimented with the colors, no change. Looks great at night. I have experienced this screen sunlight reflection on other brands as well and even on my phone. The other con is the volume knob is also the control for all the display and audio options. Push the knob in and then scroll through the different menus. It is very easy to push the button and go into the options menu when adjusting the volume while driving. Knob/button seams sensitive. I would buy again and plan on buying another for my other vehicle!

For my MR2 Spyder
Bryan from Saint Augustine, FL on 6/5/2025
2005 Toyota MR2 Spyder
I chose this head unit for my 2005 MR2 Spyder. I didn't want touch screen because I wanted something that fit the era of the car better, and I chose single din because a Spyder has almost no storage. My iPhone fits perfectly in the cubby under the radio now. The unit looks and sounds great. I love that you can select one color to be static while the second color cycles through them all. Even with the convertible top down I can still see the display in the sunlight, but choosing the right display color helps with that. Navigating the options and setting is difficult, but I suppose that's what the user manual is for. I just wish it more more intuitive, but sound is what matters. I'll be connecting a small amp for the door speakers, and one or two powered subs to it when they're back in stock. All in all I'm happy with the purchase.
Pros: Simple design, bright display, nothing I don't need.
Cons: Hard to find all of the options and settings. Cycling through and hitting the wrong button causes you do do it all over again.

Bob from Deford, MI. on 5/23/2025
Just installed this unit in my 1996 Chevrolet Camaro, to replace stock AM/FM radio/Cassette. I was looking for replacement for my Camaro. I started to chat online with Ronald. (Keep in mind this was Sunday late afternoon) I explained to him what I was looking for, and I didn't want to hack up the stock dash. I also didn't want to cut factory wires and do a bunch soldering. Ronald suggested this unit. He also told me about Crutchfield's pre-made wire harness, which you can purchase for $27.00. The pre-made wire harness simply plugs into factory wiring and into back of stereo. Best money I've ever spent, No runs, No drips, No errors. Unit also comes with antenna wire to connect from stock antenna to back of new unit. They also send you via email, complete instructions to remove your factory radio, and install your new stereo. All basically plug and play. Please let me also add, this car is not a daily driver, just go for a cruise and or local car shows. So, with that in mind, I did NOT install blue tooth phone option. Main usage for this set up was FM radio and playing CD'S. With removal of stock radio and installation on new head unit, I really took my time, checking each step, as I went along. Total time was about 2 hours. For now, I'm using stock speakers, which after doing an op's check before securing sound outstanding. In closing this is the very first stereo up-grade I've ever done, in any cars I've ever owned. Let Crutchfield be the place to go, you won't be sorry...

Extraordinary Capabilities
Robert from Columbus, GA on 4/24/2025
1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SL
This is a very good One Din Radio that I have installed in my 1979 Mercedes-Benz R107, 280SL. It's been difficult to find a replacement radio for a car that old, but this one fits perfectly, with no problems what-so-ever. Plus, I've owned Sony products since I was old enough to buy my own entertainment equipment and I've never had a problem with anything with the name Sony on it for the past 60 years. My only problem with it is the wording on the push buttons is difficult for an old man to see and read plus there are a lot of combinations of of button-pushing to set up the various capabilities and I find so far that I've always got to have the instructions handy to set up the various capabilities. I'm not critizing the radio, just saying be prepared for quite a learning experience and memory requirement. I really like the radio and what it can do and the SiriusXM attachment is a marvel for such an old car to have. If this radio will fit into your car or truck, my recommendation is to get one. The price is right and the service from Crutchfield is unbeatable.

Love this head unit. Excellent features like Bluetooth and USB input. Pairing is simple and the front USB port is great. I have a sweet 80s hair metal CD collection so I still wanted to listen to them in my 98 Trans Am. The best part is the custom color feature for the display. Matches my red Pontiac lighting perfectly for that 90s vibe. I've had many Sony products over the years and the quality and functionality are second to none. Tony from Savannah, GA on 2/9/2025
I've had this deck in my A3 for a year now. Overall, I'm very happy with it. The dual color setting allowed me to match everything to the red/white stock Audi gauge colors. The sound output is great, even with the stock speakers I used for a while. Install was simple plug and play. The one down side I have with this unit is that the volume dial sometimes does not register that you are turning it. I've grown used to adjusting volume with the supplied remote. Navigation through the various menus seems easier with the remote anyway. Overall, happy with the purchase.
Pros: Customizable colors. Great sound output.
Cons: Volume control works better with remote vs deck knob.

I like it a lot. I'm still trying to figure out all the features but the bluetooth automatically connecting is so convenient. I also love the extra bass setting being so accessible. Definitly worth it for how cheap it is. The only thing is I wish the instructions were more clear because the paper that came with it was different than the pdf instructions and neither of which explained very clearly that the DIN was already installed. It was easy enough to figure out on my own but still confusing. Other than that, the product is awesome 5 stars.

I needed something to play cd's and a nice radio. Simple but not a whole lot to choose from because most are bigger with big screens and features. The Sony MEX-N5300BT has way more features than I needed to have in a very nice unit. So far I'm very pleased with the performance. Does everything I want and more. Not sure if I will ever use the upscale features but I'm sure they'll work just fine if I do.

This is probably the easiest upgrade I have done to my car besides put in a phone mount. The instructions and pre-made connector harness were not at all the nightmare I was expecting. My first time disassembling the dash got it all in in about 2 hours. If I had to do it again would maybe take 30 min. Looks super clean too.

Just getting started with this unit, but sounds pretty good thus far. I don't have all my new speaker installed yet, so I haven't played with the EQ settings. I am still working my way through the manual for all the options that I will be using. Just needed a basic radio with CD function and Bluetooth capabilities. This unit fits the bill on all counts. The Crutchfield mounting kit and pre-fabricated wiring harness made this a plug and play installation in the wife's 2006 Jeep Liberty. Took about 15-20 minutes to install max..
Pros: Price Fairly intuitive controls Sound quality Bluetooth capable CD Player

Very easy instructions and the unit was just as pictured and imagined. Installation? Wow, way easy... I'm slow and not very knowledgeable and was able to install in less than an hour! Great. At this price point it's a great deal. The only thing I would like is a case for the face once you detach it. They used to be the norm years ago, but after looking at a lot of stereos with detachable faces, most don't have them. Anyway, the stereo is great.

Awesome little receiver!
David from COLUMBUS, OH on 9/18/2024
2007 Chevrolet Colorado
I absolutely love this Sony stereo receiver (more about that below). I highly recommend paying the extra $27 for the Ready Harness. It made the job SO much easier. You will not have to crimp any wires at all. It's literally just disconnecting electrical connectors. I would also highly recommend purchasing the adapter that allows you to retain your factory door chimes. Just a good idea if you don't want to accidentally lock your keys in the car. In my old Colorado I had a double DIN Power Acoustic aftermarket stereo. It was cool, but all the moving lights and flashing displays were a bit much while driving at night. This Sony single DIN stereo is exactly what I was looking for. I can pair my phone via Bluetooth for streaming and I can still listen to CDs if I want to. It has a sleek, classic gloss black design and you can customize the entire display, including the button lights. My favorite setting is called "Sunset" and it fades back and forth from red to yellow. I needed a little help with installation so I called Tech Support. I didn't have to wait at all to speak to someone and Dakota, the guy who helped me, was super nice. Overall I am super happy with my purchase and installation experience. I would 100% recommend Crutchfield to anyone who wants to put an aftermarket stereo receiver in their vehicle and wants to do it right. Keep up the great work!
Pros: Sleek and classy. Not too many flashing lights. Very customizable. Plays CDs and can connect to two Bluetooth devices. You can adjust the brightness, and it has a built-in dimmer.
Cons: Installation was a little tricky as far as getting the dash kit to fit correctly with the stereo. There is a plastic piece that comes attached to this receiver that had to be removed in order to get it to fit correctly in my truck. Once I removed that it was a piece of cake.

Very easy to install in my 03 Rubicon. With the free wiring harness there is no need to cut and splice the factory wiring. You only need to splice the free wiring harness to the wiring harness included with the stereo. If you can strip wire and crimp a splice you can install the stereo. Then you can put the factory radio back in the Jeep without any modification if you ever sell the vehicle.

I don't have Sirius account because I already own all the music I have listened to since high school. A little feature I didn't know this radio has but is great is the reading of voltage from car battery. Nice stereo, watchout for aux input distortion
Herbert from Saint Charles, MN on 6/4/2024
2015 Nissan Versa Note
Nice stereo. The only thing I would say is be aware of the Aux input and distortion when you plug in your phone for music etc.. My son and I bought this stereo with an amp for subs and it sounded off. Of course we only checked the sound with the aux input, ....fatal error... lol.... we bought an amp for his door speakers thinking they weren't getting enough power, nope.... we then bought the thickest and sickest speaker wire possible..... nope... then dad said, let me sit there for a sec, I turned on the radio and was immediately showered in warm music thumping every which way. Needless to say, my son was thankful for the error...lol
Pros: With Crutchfield's instructions, the actual install was easy peasy.
Cons: We found distortion in the aux input, but he uses Bluetooth anyway so mehh.... maybe a better aux cord would work?

Solid Option for Basic Features
Michael J from ELKHART, IN on 5/23/2024
2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500
Needed a cheap hands-free option for my company-owned work truck (2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD). This checked all the boxes as far as options I wanted in this price range. One note on installation - this unit, with the cables attached, is too deep for the factory housing on that truck. That wasn't noted anywhere that I found in my research. I ended up having to cut out the back of the housing, which wasn't a big deal, just would have been nice to know to expect that. One other functional note... I'll agree with others that have said it's frustrating to not have the unit automatically show the clock while streaming over Bluetooth. I can push a button every time I turn it on and have it show the time, but by default, the display only shows the source (i.e. "Pandora") and nothing else. I haven't found a way to have the display default to the song info or clock, which is slightly annoying. Not a deal breaker by any means, but an inconvenience. Having a hands-free head unit should mean I don't need to push a bunch of buttons while I'm driving to see simple things like the clock. Installation took less than an hour. I purchased the SWC harness, bezel kit, and paid the $25 fee to have Crutchfield make all the connections. For me, that's well worth the upgrade and streamlines installation a ton. The steering wheel controls worked perfectly after finding the correct dipswitch combo listed in the instructions. All in all, this will work fine for a work truck.
Pros: Fairly simple installation. Serious sound upgrade using factory speakers. Customizable colors for display, easy to match OEM colors perfectly. Quick BT pairing and subsequent connections. Actual knob for volume. Plenty of cord for microphone. Sony app is a nice option.
Cons: Cannot find a way to make the display default to the clock or song information, have to push buttons every use to display that info. I don't need to constantly see my music source on the display. Didn't see anything regarding the depth being an issue for my vehicle, but it was. Had to cut out a sizeable piece of the factory housing to make it fit. Probably wouldn't have purchased if I'd have seen that noted anywhere while shopping.

Fantastic head unit, mildly annoying install
Trevor from Marysville, WA on 5/16/2024
2014 Chevrolet Spark
I'll give the head unit itself five stars. It's quick and responsive. There's a lot of customization options. The audio quality is fantastic, and managed to improve the cheap stock speakers in my 2014 Chevy spark. I'd certainly consider another one of these for my other vehicles. The frustrating part involved the screws included with the head unit and the Metra dash kit. The screws provided by Sony were way too short to go through the dash kit brackets and still secure the head unit. I spent a good hour trying to find longer versions of the same screws to no avail. In the end I had to use sheet metal screws to hold it in place. It would be nice if longer screws were included with the head unit or the dash kit. Nonetheless Crutchfield was very quick and responsive anytime I needed to call for help. Always a pleasure doing business with them.
Pros: Audio quality, responsiveness, fit and finish
Cons: Short screws included with head unit don't fit dash kit brackets

Excellent experience overall. Crutchfield provided all the necessary parts and literature for an easy installation. I opted for the additional feature where they send the completed plug and play wiring harness and am so happy. For $20 you cannot go wrong and it made installation so easy. Highly recommend Crutchfield for their service and the Sony MEX-N5300BT is far superior sound quality wise to the OEM head unit that came stock with the car. The BEST!!

I picked this deck because it has a classy look, soft touch buttons and the volume knob feels like a much higher end deck. I am using the speakers output to power all 4 of my factory speakers and it actually sounds better than my Alpine, especially from the low end mid bass. I connect my phone through BT, and it worked great, there is a little bit of wait time but overall it is not bad at all. The only thing I really dislike about this deck is the detachable face mechanism, once it detached, it is so hard to reattach, it seems to be the hook is not engaging when pushed in, you have to smack on it a little to engage the hook mechanism to pop back in, and this happen every time. This could be a factory defect but I can't say? I didn't want to return the unit because I found out after I completed the installation to the car. If you never detach the face, this would be a great unit.
Pros: Classy look black out buttons, match great with any dash, not too bright like some newer unit. Audio output sounds really good. EQ adjustment really smooth out some high end and low end of the music. Operation of functions are not complicated, clock and audio adjustment are pretty easy to operate.
Cons: Detachable face is not engaging every time. It would be fine if you never detach the face.

Very Nice Unit
James D from BOWIE, MD on 3/29/2024
1996 Chevrolet C Series
Very happy with this receiver. Crutchfield provided all hardware and parts necessary to convert and fit this into my 1996 Chevy C1500. The dash kit instructions are a little vague on a couple of points and needed a little thought to get everything mounted properly and fitting tightly, but not a big deal. Also, I see that some of you are/were having problems getting the face plate to lock in place. I was having the same issue sometimes. The Sony customer service website provided the answer to this problem, and I have had no issues since. When you position the face plate for mounting, you need to push on the control knob firmly to lock it in place. You will hear a distinct little 'click'. The instructions should have mentioned this, but now you know. Above all, make the effort to spend time in your vehicle with the instruction manual and play with this unit. It can be complicated at first effort, but is quite easy to operate and customize it to your needs if you have worked your way through the steps to get to where you want to be.

Nice receiver. Big upgrade over my 26 year old original equipment. Nice to have the Bluetooth and USB options as well as the old school cd slot. My only complaint is the faceplate took several minutes to attach as it required far more pressure to attach than would have ever dreamed. I'll probably never remove it.The Crutchfield directions for install are an outline, but certainly not all inclusive. I had to fill in the gaps with the Sony manual.
Pros: Nice features, power and sound. Can match display colors to my vehicle dash color.

Unit was easy to install, and once setup the bluetooth reliably re-connects devices upon power-on. The included microphone picks up voice well, but also road noise (I probably need to find a good place to mount it to reduce). Otherwise, it's a good value for the price. Good sound quality, and has a lot of options to adjust/process the audio. CD player also plays well.
Pros: Exellent sound, easy to install, reliable bluetooth connection for two devices. Switches between devices quickly.
Cons: Antenna connection is not pigtail, which was challenging for my install due to limited stock antenna cable available harness.

Great radio with one weird SiriusXM quirk that downrates it.
Crutchfield customer from Louisville, CO on 1/6/2024
2002 Honda S2000
This is a great little radio that I chose after poring over several models and it did everything I wanted - Bluetooth, SXM and had a CD player as well. However, I wasn't expecting one quirk with the radio and that's virtually every other SXM radio has a way to cycle through the SXM information - channel name, artist, song. The Sony does NOT. You can choose ONE and manually cycle through the information by pushing a button on the radio, but it won't automatically tell you the artist and title. That seems insane, and takes away from an otherwise really nice head unit. However the interface is so much better than the Alpine it replaces it's hardly an issue, just an annoyance.

Faceplate was nearly impossible to attach the first time. Had to lean on it while it was on the kitchen table to be able to click it into place. This pressure was of course on the volume knob and other buttons which may have tweaked the volume knob. Attaching faceplate got easier after 6-8 click-release cycles. Crutchfield customer service was great of course--sent a replacement but the faceplate problem was the same on the replacement.
Pros: sound was good
Cons: faceplate didn't attach without excessive force. volume control knob had issues.

This unit was pretty much "plug & play" with the provided Crutchfield installation link and recommended hardware. I'd give it five stars, but the color selection doesn't always seem to "stick". I'm happy that the unit allows the factory door to close with the faceplate in place. Also, the first head unit was defective and needed to be replaced, which the helpful people at Crutchfield handled flawlessly.

Cons: Quirky color selection function

Has a lot of functions. However, had problems in at least two areas: The on/off button is very near the button used to detach the face. It is therefore easy to unintentionally detach the face. The unit does not allow custom color setting for buttons. Have tried a number of ways to get it to set the colors but no luck! The buttons are small; it seems not enough attention was given to the user interface design. Have had trouble setting up the ASWC functions.
Pros: Many functions Improved sound quality versus factory unit

Faith from Salt lake city on 11/8/2023

The interface isn't great. I wish I would've done a little more research regarding that. Instructions could also be improved, but after a few youtube videos I wasn't in too bad of shape ( and lots of gentle encouragement from my partner.) The only thing I'm really stumped on is the CD player will accept a disk halfway and you can hear the mechanics of the player moving it in, and then it will get stuck half way and display "No disk" on the interface. It will come out easily, though. I've held the eject button and reset the radio but I can't say I really know what to do. Also, the am / fm radio has trouble picking up a signal. I've adjusted the antenna insert a few times, but I'm tired of pulling apart everything just to hear ads lol. The factory radio screws for the 2005 subaru forester (double din) do not fit into the radio like the instructions say. I went to the hardware store twice trying to work that out. I'm not sure what to do as a lot of advice regarding this issue is geared toward used CD players. I'm not sure what the warranty is on this but I did primarily purchase this to play discs so I am rather bummed.
Pros: Really nice look to the interface, though definitely look over to the cons. The radio adds a depth to my speakers I didn't know they had. The custom colors are very fun, but I would trade them for a working CD player or the special trick to get it rolling.
Cons: interface is not very intuitive. I definitely miss my old radio which felt natural to me. The instructions are rough and I had to research through youtube. I wish the soldering instructions had been better as this was my first time! but it didn't come out too shabby.

Nice head unit. We'll see how it performs over time, but so far--so good. I will need time to figure out the Bluetooth connection to my phone, where to mount the microphone for hands-free phone calls, what the wireless command remote is good for, etc. I looked at specifications for FM sensitivity when deciding which unit to purchase, and this one was among the best.

Great sound, decent display options, Horrible USB interface
Chris from West Union, SC on 10/17/2023
2012 Honda Accord
Decent radio for the price, but Menu options and USB drive navigation drive me nuts. As others have stated, the buttons are fairly non-intuituve. The biggest issue I have is with the volume/menu wheel. Sound quality is decent, illumination choices are decent but the Pioneer it replaced had better, fuller RGB choices. The main reason I bought this was color options and USB port. Word to the wise, if your main purpose for picking this up is to put a USB in and listen to files, you are going to need the remote to skip folders. Yes, a car radio requires a remote for a simple function. I have read the manual, I have played with the interface, but ultimately, the wheel cannot skip folders for the USB drive. The annoying menu pops up when you try to navigate with the wheel. Not only that, but after you have set the color options, the menu is white when it engages every time you press the wheel. Not for nothing, that is my only real complaint. Sony could fix this in a software update. The remote skips album folders no sweat by pressing the up arrow, kind of what pressing the wheel up should do. But my Acura RSX I put this in is a manual and I'm not gonna hold a remote while I drive. If anyone out there has managed to figure out how to skip folders on a USB (using a Samsung 256gb thumb drive) please lmk. I have some serious buyers remorse only bc of the usb :) Crutchfield did an amazing job on their part. Perfect install with everything I needed, arrived well
Pros: Great sound, decent LED options, Crutchfield install items made it easy!
Cons: The most annoying wheel/navigation of USB files and folders EXCEPT with the remote, which is no bueno with a manual transmission. :(

Great but be aware

It is very nice, good sound and graphics. Easy to install and use. If you plan to add an amp, make sure the use the remote wire and not the remote hole behing the unit. I almost made that mistake. Also, be aware that if you have huge bass amd subwoofers like me, the faceplate will vibrate out of the unit if you crank it too high.
Pros: Good display, easy to install good sound. Nice remote.
Cons: The faceplate will vibrate out if you have too much bass. Menu could be complicated.

Not practical for solo road trips longer than 30-60 minutes
Bill from SMYRNA, GA on 7/9/2023
2010 Honda Element
I installed this in a 2010 Honda Element. I found the sound better than the stock unit and I bought it for the Bluetooth phone capability and aux in. The interface is dreadful. Turning on/off is not done like most - clicking the volume, you have to hold the power button for one second. If you hold it two seconds, you activate menus. There are very tiny buttons for radio stations, pause, but a giant "more bass" button. I don't use Pandora or XM or app, or BT or aux in music or podcasts (poor sound compared to USB), and using the tiny source button I have to hit it extra times to go past these. The tiny buttons around the edge of this thing have no "touch" texture, which would help using the buttons without taking your eyes off the road-very hard and dangerous to operate if driving solo. There no settings to stop it from automatically playing something. I plugged in my phone to listen to a podcast, started the car and the Beatles on Spotify started playing. I hadn't played this in about six weeks and was not planning to this day. No way to turn off the automatic crap so I had to go through all kinds of menu hopping with little tiny buttons. It's terrible and almost useless because of the difficulty or impossibility in using it on the road. I also bought the pre-wired harness which could have been a good idea but the directions were inaccurate. Colors did not match, extra unused wires and connectors. The mic isn't built in - flops around when not in use. Options??, usability ??.
Pros: Fit the Element Ok sound Bluetooth phone use CD player!
Cons: Terrible design Tiny smooth buttons Auto play nonsense Too many menus Mic not built in Display readability sun or sunglasses Dangerous to use on the road

I have had no issues with this unit on my 1996 T100, and am looking to get another for my Miata in the future. The button functionality on the unit (play/pause/skip etc) work perfectly with my iPhone 13 Pro, which was a necessity for me. Tons of color options so that you can choose the best that works for you. Phone call audio quality has been reported as good by people on the other end of the line. I haven't used additional outputs, and haven't used the usb either. Connects to my phone with decent speed, and seems to drive excellent audio without an external amplifier.
Pros: Many display color options Quick connection to phone Non-intrusive display

Smooth install, Nice sound, one annoying feature
Crutchfield customer from Virginia on 5/26/2023
1993 Honda Accord EX
This is a nice deck. It has a nice display and the sound is very smooth. It looks very clean in the dash. I have only tried a couple of features, but so it's working well. As others have said, it's fiddly; I still haven't had time to work through the features and do things like make the display all one color and turn off the flashing lights and animations, but I will. Ultimately, I want this to just be there without grabbing any attention.
Pros: As for install, I was able to modify the install bracket by chopping off the posts and drilling holes which allowed me to mimic the factory radio mounting system. It's plastic, and not steel, but it does work and the stereo sits nicely with the Honda box under it.
Cons: Car has a power antenna, and this stereo needlessly works it. The antenna raises when the stereo is powered On, and retracts when it is powered off. But this unit has a feature that reminds when the key is turned off while the Sony faceplate is still attached. It gives a chime to remind. But that feature powers the stereo back ON momentarily, and that causes the antenna to raise again, and then lower again. I don't like that at all, and wish I could shut that annoying feature completely off.

This is such a nice upgrade in my old Ford F150. Thanks to Crutchfield's help and included accessories it is a perfect fit. Buying the plug-and-play harness made installation very easy and the system sounds excellent with my newer speakers. The only downside is that the menus seems a little complex and confusing at first and it'll take some time to study the manual for smooth navigation. If you are used to an old school radio this will take some getting used to. So glad I found Crutchfield and have already recommended them to a friend.

Vast Improvement for a Gen2 Tacoma
Charles from Coeur d'Alene, ID on 2/16/2023
2009 Toyota Tacoma
The Sony MEX-N5300BT has all the features of the the non-JBL system single disc radio of the 2009 Toyota Tacoma, and more. Check the specs: choices for display and button colors with brightness levels, better FM reception sensitivity (tested this morning in our sporadic reception drive of 5 miles to downtown Coeur d'Alene, and back with Spokane's ESPN Radio station, a great improvement, even with the short stubby antenna, stock 30" steel whip might be even better) of 7 db, and more power to the factory speakers. Infinity 9633ix speaker review after future installation. Crutchfield's installation kit with the Metra mount (stouter bracket for the clock/flasher module, adapters for single and double DIN radios), CRUX SWRTY-61S harness with Wiring Service prep that includes the OEM connectors to the existing vehicle wiring was an incredible value and grief-saving addition. Dad was hard of hearing, and I generally listen to what's going on outside and with the vehicle, but this is such a huge improvement (with sound deadening insulation added to the doors) that I am looking forward to the drives! The most difficult part of the installation was getting the wiring stuffed into the dash for clearance with the radio mounting. Patience...
Pros: Crutchfield's selections, service and suggested installation kits. Master Sheet is priceless!

Decent stereo ! Great for the price Bluetooth works great . Haven't popped in a cd yet . The stereo wasn't hard to set up either . 1 thing is (and I haven't looked for the other option yet) is that the tuner up/down search jumps to the next strong station . So if your favorite station is on the edge the scan mode passes it by . I will look to see if there is a mode selection for the channel up/down . Once I get them preset I won't have to worry about it. Also love being able to pick the color of the lighting .
Pros: Fairly straight forward install plug and play wiring made that part a breeze . Couldn't be happier not having to deal with wiring .
Cons: The opening on the install trim kit needed to be cut bigger to fit the stereo in. The plastic that trims the stereo to the dash . But looks great when done !

Very satisfied. I was hoping to find a disc/media player for my 1990 Chevy c1500 that didn't look like it was made 20 years ago, and this one is okay in that regard. It installed super easily. The wiring harness matched up perfectly with the supplied adapter harness. Sound and controls are straightforward. Disc playback is great and sounds much better than compressed mp3. Very satisfied.
Pros: Easy to install. Good controls. Great sound upgrade.
Cons: Mounting sleeve doesn't get securely right in trim adapter.

Nice little radio. Make sure to get the install kit along with it, because I couldn't have installed the radio without the plastic dash piece. Other than that, sounds better than factory radio and you can hook up a sub or amp quick with the pre-amp outputs. Would recommend.
Pros: Good features, name brand, expandability, better sound than factory
Cons: Takes a little bit to install, especially with the plastic dash insert that came with it, so just be patient

Super happy with this Sony in my pickup. Instillation instructions were very helpful and the sound and convenience are great. Just be sure to plug the microphone in the back before you close up the dash if you are going to use the hands-free calling feature! EQ options are great, but a little tricky for a non-techy to figure out at first. I love having a volume knob. I also like the constantly changing colors. And the tuner picks up way more stations than any radio I've had in 18 years of living here!
Pros: Sound Plays CDs EQ options
Cons: A little tricky to get to some of the menu options at first

Its a SONY, so yes, it works!
Crutchfield customer from Spring Creek, NV on 5/12/2021
2005 Dodge Ram 2500
It is a Sony, which means it works and works well, and most likely will work into the near future and beyond. This is the third Sony I have purchased and installed in place of the OEM decks in my vehicles in the last 10 years. I am pleased with the addition of the wiring adapter and the faceplate adapter that truly made it an easy install. I can be honest and say that I bought it for the CD player since I have a few hundred of those shiny discs. It has 10 preset equalizers with one being adjustable, including ranges for high, mid, and low frequencies. However, I am not pleased with the bass ranges that are available or the maximum bass pushed from this system because I also added good quality speakers to my upgrade. The stereo is doing its job but is unable to emphasize the bass and now, I must add subwoofers to get back the base. The OEM speakers sounded good with the system as we (most, but not all) are accustomed to a muddied base, but after all four new speakers were installed, the bass was lost. This stereo has inadequate base adjustment except through a subwoofer system. Even with the base maximized is it vaguely there. A previous SONY called the bass x-plod could push more bass with better amplification, however-- this stereo truly works. I just wished that it were better at adding more base, besides forcing the subwoofer system. As a BIG plus - it does have separate functionality in the set-up to add subwoofers (RCAs) and adjust their volume.
Pros: CD Player, with outputs for standard speakers, whether OEM or upgraded. It also has RCAs for both front, rear, and subwoofers. Just a Heads-up - These RCAs will not work without a specialized amp, as this is NORMAL. Easy install with faceplate and wiring adapter. It also comes with a remote.
Cons: The bass output is limited and will require an additional subwoofer IF you upgrade to better quality speakers. I install this on a 2005 Dodge Diesel 4 door truck and the OEM speakers sounded fine. After adding POLK Audio, the muddied base was gone, and so were the boom-boom sounds. Limited adjustment for amplifying the bass sounds (lower frequencies).

I am exceptionally pleased with this stereo. It was purchased to replace a factory change / receiver for a 2001 Ford Mustang, Mach 460 System. It does 99 percent of what I need it to do. Only minor ripple is it wont do bluetooth from my phone (google maps) while I listen to a cd or tuner. I can live with it. Not a big deal. Really drives the factory radio amps and subs very well. And Shout out to Crutchfield's Tech support team. 3 phone calls, (two were only for quick little questions) really helped me to do this. Once I had the radio in my hands during the install it all made sense. Very pleased.

Clean, Simple Style + Many Great Features = Great Value
Mike from Salt Lake City, UT on 4/19/2021
1990 Volvo 240 Series
Purchased this unit for a '90 Volvo 240 DL to replace the failing stock unit. I chose it based on its appearance (clean, unfussy, simply styled, all black) and features (Bluetooth, USB, changeable colors, CD player, etc.), and I've had several Sonys in the past I've been pleased with. Installation was relatively straightforward, although figuring out the Volvo wiring was a little challenging. The included wiring harness and mounting kit work well, but I had to cut and splice wires for the rear speakers (Volvo issue, unrelated to the stereo). Once it was all in place and powered on, it worked well and sounded good, bringing the 31 year old speakers back to life in a way I didn't expect. There are numerous options for features, sound, etc., and the manual was pretty helpful to figure them out. I was able to find a color in the palette which matched fairly closely to the stock Volvo dash lights, and I was able to dial in the sound pretty well, although I do plan on upgrading speakers at some point to get more clarity. Bluetooth was easy to set up, and works well, both playing music and for phone calls. I don't plan to install amplifiers, so I can't speak to the expandability of the system. Overall, I'm happy with this unit, and feel like it meets my needs, and is a solid value.
Pros: Sony quality, clean design, lighting options, Bluetooth, USB, CD player, many features and adjustments
Cons: Front black trim piece is a little fussy, and doesn't like to stay snapped-in all the time

Eric from Missoula, MT on 4/18/2021
2005 BMW Z4
Only alteration I had to make was to bind the illumination wire to the accessory wire, as the harness didn't have a direct one-one replacement, and without that modification, no display. Overall, it made an older car somewhat more modern again. I didn't test out the CD player, but was just happy that the BT, radio, and steering wheel controls worked with no fuss.
Pros: Easy install USB and Bluetooth
Cons: Not 100% flush with the included mounting kit, but still pretty nice. The faceplate is super glossy, but that seems to be a trademark of Sony.

Great hands free, even with the top down.
Asa from GLENDALE, AZ on 3/9/2021
1993 Ford Mustang
Excellent head unit and the external microphone works very well, even in my convertible. The factory unit in my BMW 323i had completely given out and a manual transmission means hands free is a must. The Sony was an obvious choice because is had both Android + Apple support and was relatively affordable. 90% of the time I utilize the Bluetooth connection, which has never faltered; but I do have a few CDs that are my go-to on the road. The RGB display was a nice addition as well and enabled me to get a good match for the amber/orange hue in the BMW display, so it blends in nicely. The only downside that I've found is that the amber color washes out greatly in daylight (with the top down).
Pros: Good price point, solid construction, RGB display, external mic for hands free connection.
Cons: RGB washes out in daylight.

Sony and Crutchfield - Two Thumbs Up
Crutchfield customer from North Attleboro, MA on 1/22/2021
2004 Toyota 4Runner
Once again, Crutchfield comes through with just another awesome setup. We had such a good experience with the system we installed in our vintage Miata, that going back to Crutchfield for our next system was a no-brainer. We bought this system for my 16-year-old's first truck, and he wired it up and installed it himself. Super-clear instructions and perfect harnesses made installation a snap. This Sony is responsive and the LEDs are bright and easy to read. Not sure if anyone needs removeable faces anymore, but it's good to have, I guess. The remote will be nice for tailgating, and the DIN plate with the cubby pocket is a bonus. Thanks again, Crutchfield!
Pros: Clear sound, responsive controls, adjustable colors, CD, Aux port in face, Bluetooth with mic, removeable face, remote, DIN plate with pocket, easy to install

I used the SONY MEX-N5300BT to replace the factory Visteon in my 2004 Land Rover Discovery 2. My goal was adding Bluetooth streaming and handsfree calling. This unit more than met and exceeded those goals. The great surprise was the noticeable improvement in the sound quality of the factory Harman/Kardon speakers. All aspects of the unit exceeded my expectations; e.g., the endless color configuration to match the existing dash, an 'extra bass' function that doesn't washout the midrange, easy installation and configuration.
Pros: +Clear Directions +Easy Installation +Noticeable Sound Improvement with existing speakers +Ability to configure an exact look to fit the dash +Great price to quality ratio

Like all the features I get with this deck. From color changing to eq opposition. The added bass booster really adds kick to the music. Plan to add some amps later and with the rca outputs that should make it really easy with out adding a sound processor.
Pros: Bass booster. 13 band eq 3 rca outputs

I put this stereo in my '05 miata and it fit pretty well. After spending a bit of time learning the controls, it is a pretty straight forward interface. As expected, this stereo has the ability to put a lot of power through my 15 yr old factory speakers (Not a Bose system). Sound starts to distort between volumes of 40-45, anything above 45 feels like you are in a microwave, and depending on the song, it can be hard to hear with the top down. Thats nothing on the stereo, though, I just need some aftermarket speakers! The EQ presets are pretty solid, and I like the custom option. Display is super customizable- I found that White/Cyan are the easiest to see during the day. I also love the Bass-Booster button; its pretty convenient to just press it as opposed to adjusting the bass for different songs while driving. I put the microphone behind my dash cover- in front of the tach and speedometer and its crystal clear, even with the top down. The install kit that came with the stereo was not great- the nub that supports the stereo from the back was missing a specific screw so I went and found a screw (M4) with the same length and put a nylon cover over it to replace the nub.

Installation with free Crutchfield-supplied dash parts and wiring connectors was much easier than I had expected. Dash panel exactly matches original. CD sound and radio sounds much better than the original using the factory installed speakers (small and large each front door and one in each rear door. Using this receiver for hands-free phone conversations and using with other Bluetooth devices is a major upgrade. Should have done this years ago.
Pros: Supplied panels match truck interior exactly and supplied wiring connectors made connecting wiring pretty straight forward.
Cons: Because the panel kit fits two sizes of receivers it takes a little sorting of parts to figure it out. But, that it can fit either is a great thing really.

Great Radio! But a few things to know..
Tiam from Cold Spring, NY on 6/29/2020
1992 Volvo 240 Series
Bought this radio as a replacement for the original radio in my 1992 Volvo 240. It works great and I am very happy with the audio quality and performance. My only complaints are about the bluetooth and the volume dial. The bluetooth can be frustrating, sometimes not connecting, and when you have both phones in the car that are connected to the radio it sometimes doesn't work. I usually just use the USB input which always works and charges the phone too, much more simple. The volume dial is also a button and is fairly sensitive. I find myself pressing the button when I want to turn up the volume a lot. Besides these two things (which are pretty minor honestly) I love this product and would recommend it!
Pros: Looks great, good sound.
Cons: Bluetooth is finicky, volume dial as a button is too sensitive.

Stock 05 Volvo receiver was pretty good (when it didn't cut out) and I was concerned I'd lose audio quality with an inexpensive replacement. But Sony N5300BT sounds significantly better than stock while retaining original speakers. Plus face design is simple so the fix looks Volvo-esque. Great Crutchfield advice and service.
Pros: Excellent performance for price. Good selection of EQ settings, plus customizable option. Installation looks close to stock. Lighting can be adjusted for color and brightness.
Cons: Can't find solution to turn off annoying anti-theft beep at power shutdown.

So far so good !! This looks like the more expensive model non cd one . I almost bought that but I didn't want to run a power cord from the battery . This one looks classic, simple , and perfect in my 94 mustang . Almost looks like it could be stock ! Great service and shipping , installation was a breeze. I didn't need the CD player or want it, but the price was right . Sound is better than Stock was !!!
Pros: Cheap, features , 55 watts , good sound , simple use and layout , Good customization
Cons: I didn't need the CD but I can't say it's a con other than the look. No cons yet . We did have an issue with the deck sliding into the space and staying on the left side . We had to fiddle around and use some adhesive to help secure it . It wasn't the fault of the unit but a defect or imperfection in my cars dash. Looks clean and almost stock in my 1994 mustang

2007 Toyota RAV4
I thoroughly enjoy this product. The only thing about it is when I connect my phone to play my own music if I turn the volume up past 40 (50 is highest), the music becomes badly distorted. It isn't an issue with my speakers however, because when I have a CD in, the volume can be at 100% and have zero distortion. I originally bought it to upgrade from my factory stereo and because I was going to install a subwoofer and amplifier and it is a great upgrade. I had installed four new speakers before installing this and it improved the power sent to the speakers because of the built-in amplifier. This is also great because it has RCA outputs for all four speakers and for subwoofers which allow for seamless connections to an amplifier. Great product
Pros: RCA outputs for all speakers and separate ones for subwoofers
Cons: When connected to the phone at a loud volume, the sound distorts

2005 Saturn VUE
This Sony MEX-N5300BT was super easy to install and sounds great. I had replaced my stock stereo in a 2005 Saturn Vue about 10 years ago. That Sony sounded good but didn't have bluetooth, and ultimately I got tired of "jerry-rigging" cords and different external devices to play music from my phone. Could never find anything that made phone conversations tolerable. All I did after purchasing this Sony is pull out the older head unit, detach the old harness and attach the new, slide the new head unit into the old chassis and waa-lah. Bluetooth works perfectly and the few calls I've made thus far have sounded way better than anything I've had before, thanks in large part to the external mic that comes with the unit. Very pleased! May have to look into replacing the speakers as those have some mileage on them as well.
Pros: Bluetooth connectivity, sound quality for calls
Cons: Haven't found any noticeable ones yet

Great choice, great price
Crutchfield customer from Sacramento, CA on 1/10/2020
1996 Ford F Series
I'm fairly old-school in preferring physical controls to touch screens, especially in the things on the dash of my vehicles. My factory radio in my truck died, so I took a good hard look at all of the units Crutchfield offered, looking for receivers that are easy to operate by feel without the need to take my eyes off of the road. The Sony MEX-N5300BT came the closest to what I was looking for and included more than enough power to make my four new Polk Audio speakers sound great. To be honest, even this Sony requires you to look at the unit unless all you are doing is turning it off or on, or selecting one of the preset radio station buttons. But this has been working well for me, as I listen almost exclusively to my local public classical music station, and when it isn't what I want to hear the blue tooth feature picks up my stored music on my smart phone, so I'm never without music if I don't want to be. This Sony has so many more capabilities than I will ever use it makes the price simply an excellent buy. Most importantly, the unit sounds wonderful. For a pick up cab it simply has more power than you can really use. The music sounds well balanced at the default settings, but you can change how it sounds if you want to take the time to go into the controls and contour the sound to your liking. There's even a button right on the front of the unit to select among three levels of bass boost if you want more in the low end. I am very happy with this Sony. Highly recommended.
Pros: Reasonably easy to operate without a lot of distraction while driving. Great sound. Plenty of power. Radio reception is excellent. Fits in a relatively small space without giving up anything a car receiver should offer. I can even listen to the CD's I still own. This may be old school, but they sound great on this Sony, and there are no interruptions or monthly fees! Also, the Bluetooth feature lets me take and place phone calls without distraction; my calls sound good in both directions.
Cons: In Fords from the 80's on up, the radio has a bracket on the back that "hangs" it from a rail so the unit is supported at the dash and the rear. The instructions said not to use the rear bracket. The factory bracket won't fit the Sony, but one's included in the Metra kit and I recommend you use it. It's very difficult to use the bracket due to how the Sony is held in the dash. I had to remove the speedo/gauges to get my hand behind the radio to attach the bracket. It's difficult, but doable.

Great head unit
Crutchfield customer from Harrisonburg, VA on 1/4/2020
I was looking for a simple upgrade from my factory head unit so I could have Bluetooth capabilities. While there are fancier head units that have Android Auto or Apple Car play and would give me more features this little thing works fine and didn't break the bank. My stereo sounds better and the Sony app made connecting my podcast and music apps to the head unit as well as customizing the display and button colors effortless.
Pros: Inexpensive, sounds good, easy to use.
Cons: Doesn't have the fanciest display.

Fantastic Sound With Bluetooth, USB Phone Charging & CD Player
Mike from Huntsville, AL on 12/29/2019
2000 Ford F-150
I decided to replace a 15 year old Pioneer stereo in my 2000 F150. The main features I was after were Bluetooth phone calls, XM radio ready, USB phone charging capability, and CD player. I first considered Pioneer and Kenwood, but finally settled on the Sony MEX-N5300BT due to positive reviews and $20 off special. I'm very impressed with this unit. The Sony also has a much better FM Sensitivity than comparable Kenwood and Pioneer models and there is a noticeable difference in the FM reception compared to the old Pioneer. Having driven rental cars with HD radio, I feel the standard FM transmission on this Sony sounds like it's HD! Bluetooth phone calls are very clear and USB charges iPhone 7 quickly (goes up tens of percent during 20 min drive). Remote included and is nice to have for switching between XM radio presets. I added an XM SXV300V1 tuner behind the Sony stereo.
Pros: Simple yet stylish layout, remote included, fantastic sound without amplifier, best FM reception I've ever had in a vehicle, fast USB charging of phone, clear Bluetooth phone calls, super fast scanning on FM, XM ready, and CD player
Cons: When song/artist information extends beyond main display screen, the stereo only scrolls through the info once (have to manually advance to see the remaining info a 2nd time). There isn't an auto scan while in XM mode (have to manually advance through XM channels). Crutchfield Master Sheet and American International mounting kit had conflicting instructions. Install was ultimately accomplished with DIN sleeve and main American International bracket with cubby hole on the bottom (not on the top as pictured in Crutchfield Master Sheet).

I thought about getting a new car stereo, because the radio that was in my 1997 Isuzu Trooper was from a 90's era mustang?? I had done tons of research, and ended up messaging Aaron for some help. Not only did he recommend this radio, but he also paired it up with a whole system. This is by far the best stereo ive ever had. 10/10 would recommend. BUY IT. DO IT.
Pros: BLUETOOTH, hands-free calling, color chamging screen, PREMIUM SOUND

So far I'm very pleased with both the products and the service of Crutchfield. I will say this about the Sony units,it has individual station buttons that are much easier to feel and push vs.others (Kenwood/Pioneer etc.) while bouncing down the road. The installation kit and wiring adapter that came with it fit well and was an easy upgrade. Initial setup was fairly simple even though there is a lot of info that did not pertain to my circumstances/needs/devices. I did have to re-sync my iPhone once, but hasn't given me any problems since
Pros: good value
Cons: I wish there was an option for matte or satin finish instead of gloss.

I was going to buy the MEX-N5200BT and happened to see this. I am so glad I stalled. The clean front panel and buttons are great for the fat fingered. Very logically laid out compared to others I looked at. Setup was very simple and it sounds great out of the box with my factory speakers. Can't wait until I get the new Rockford Fosgate speakers installed. The tuner on this stereo is incredible. The reception is great and clean. Very little static unless you get way out of range of the station. The colors are not a big deal, but kind of fun to play with. I went boring and matched the lighting in the truck. BT connected right away and does so whenever I get in the truck. I haven't had any troubles with drops at all. Phone calls sound clear. Being able to call and text without touching my phone is very nice. I am very happy with this purchase. I would recommend it highly.
Pros: Looks and sounds great Clean interface and nice button spacing BT works very well Tuner is very good Does everything I hoped it would do at a nice price
Cons: None at this time

Decent Head Unit
Mike from Thornton, CO on 9/20/2019
1999 Toyota 4Runner
Installed in a 99 4Runner that still had the stock double DIN cassette & CD player. I love how Crutchfield ships an install package, including the wiring harness and cubby hole adapter to fill the double DIN hole fully with this single DIN head unit. Sound is a bit better than stock unit. Bluetooth connections to iPhone 6 and 6s is pretty slow and I had a hard time pairing The instructions that Crutchfield includes are just so-so and they left out a huge detail for a 4Runner. The wiring harness adapter they sent had 2 plug-ins, but the stock head unit only had 1. What? Darn it, they sent the wrong wiring harness. It was after hours and I wanted to make progress, so I did some Googling and some experimentation and found that my 4Runner had an external amp (factory) that was bolted-in right below the head unit. I removed this and lo and behold, there were 2 plugs on the input side to the amp that the new wiring harness adapter plugged right into! They should mention this in the instructions! Next problem. The 4Runner has a power antenna mast and used to only raise when you selected the AM/FM radio function, but not the CD or cassette. The Sony head unit does not support this, so the power antenna would raise every time the unit is on, which is basically every time your start the car. This is unacceptable since the antenna is ultra-slow and noisy. Since the 4Runner has 2 antennas, I disabled the mast and bought an adapter to hook the rear antenna
Pros: Good price point Supports two Bluetooth devices More subdued front panel and lights Good fitment Crutchfield ships a wiring harness and cubby adapter for converting double DIN to single.
Cons: Slow Bluetooth connection. Power antenna connectivity is poor.

I am very happy with this car radio. It does everything it was advertised to do plus has more features that I hadnt even noticed it could do in its description. It works perfectly, it has a beautiful colorful lighted display. It was so easy to install, even for a person who has never installed a radio. It fits in the dash even though its a different shape than the original radio. I wish I had gotten it sooner. I waited until the original radio gave up, but I would have enjoyed the additional features like hands free calling and Pandora and blue tooth and USB and front AUX, even Sirius if one wanted to subscribe and other stuff I havent tried. For me it was important to be able to play CDs since I have many.
Pros: colorful lighted display easy to install many, many features and capabilities

nice upgrade from OEM, single din do it all
Crutchfield customer from Grafton, MA on 9/14/2019
I purchased this sony after literally 5 minutes of google searches online with all positive reviews hoping to cure 1 problem I had - FM radio reception, and it did, bit it lead to.another problem - the realization that I had crappy speakers in the car :( So, dont buy this unless.you want to spend more on upgrading your existing speakers... One nit pick however, my old sony had a hard.case for the detachable faceplate and this one doesn't ship with one so, if your cautious and remove the faceplate because of crime, go buy a 3rd party case or you'll risk scratching up the front of this popping it out and transporting it (and dont leave it in the glovebox as that's the first place they look!)
Pros:
Cons: Mp3 handling limited to 255 per folder, must all be in folders to play beyond that limit No hard case from faceplate

I am happy with this unit. I love the auto dim feature. This is by far the best looking Sony single din available right now. Easy to setup our Google Pixel 3s with NFC. The sound is better than my Sony from 2011 which was of a similar price point. It is really good at picking up the Bluetooth handsfree as soon as I start the car, but the Bluetooth audio takes a bit. Occasionally it never finds the audio player, maybe 1 in every 25 startups. I have to turn the unit off then back on and then it will connect.
Pros: Good sound. Clean look. Pairs well. Auto dim feature

This stereo sounds great, and has every feature I could want! I like how well the included microphone works to pick up my voice for voice commands. The NFC tap-to-pair is really great, too. Aesthetically, this is one of the cleanest looking units available, to my eyes. I really like how it's not so flashy and ostentatious. A lot of these products look like they were designed by Razer, but this is understated. Feels right at home in my '94 Town Car. I was having trouble picturing most of the competing products in that car. Also had a minor issue with the Metra wiring harness, and though it was no fault of Crutchfield's, they promptly replaced it for free, and when the same issue occurred, their tech support was able to give me a workaround to get everything wired properly. Really impressed with the service aspect of this experience.

My old work van just received a upgrade!
Vaughn from Murrells Inlet, SC on 5/25/2019
First, I'm not much of a aftermarket car stereo person, I am however a pro audio tech and a high end home audio snob so it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to audio, gadgets in general. With that said, I found myself in the need of a replacement for my stock radio in my old Ford work van. My requirements were simple. I wanted a step above stock , the best radio with CD I could find for the money that would allow me to connect my phone via bluetooth. I had lots of choices at this price point but decided on this Sony for a few reasons... #1 Its a Sony, #2 It's a newer model than most. #3 At this price point it gives good built in power and great Bluetooth connectivity. #4 Not that I will ever use it in a work van, but me being a pro audio guy I like having all the pre-outs. Some other units at this price point or almost this price point limit the pre outs. #5 The main reason I purchased this Sony is the look. I think it has a kinda close to stock, clean look that others simply do not have. The install was simple and the operation is fantastic with no issues at all. My Android phone connected great and the sound is much better than stock! lots more clean built in power than the stock radio and the FM reception is simply superb! I had no idea I had so many FM stations! With Crutchfield including the wiring harness and the tool to remove the stock Ford radio and the dash kit why would I buy anyplace else! Fantastic Sony and a fantastic company to buy f
Pros: Its a Sony, Has a classy look!

Great radio with a ton of features. Was pretty easy to install with a general understanding of radio installation process. I really like the Sony app that the radio pairs with and the NFC bluetooth connection worked great! Only negative thing I have to say is the volume button when pressed opens up the menu options so sometimes you think you're turning up the radio when you're actually switching to something else. That said the remote that comes with it alleviates that issue if you want to use it!
Pros: Easy install. Good sound. NFC bluetooth connection makes it easy! Sony app works seamlessly with the radio for easy phone controls.
Cons: Volume button when pressed opens a menu and is easily pushed when changing volume.

This is a great receiver in both sound quality and subdue-ness, with an appearance close to many OEM units and not odd appearing in an otherwise 1990's interior design. The fine color adjustment allowed for a very close match to factory green illumination. And it paired easily with two galaxy S-series phones of two different generations and switched between the two effortlessly, overall I consider this a pretty good upgrade to many factory receivers while keeping the interior largely stock appearing. Highly recommended.
Pros: Close to OEM receiver appearance, especially when flush-mounted Great sound quality Bluetooth paired effortlessly and functions great
Cons: Somewhat pricey

Pros: Gets loud and stays crystal clear. The Bluetooth connectivity is super easy with NFC. The faceplate is very sleek and good looking without all the Trademarks printed all over it. The most 'factory' looking unit I could find. Brand New 2919 model. Price point is great. Get a lot for the money.
Cons: While carefully taking the one sticker off the faceplate... It left a pretty good scratch.

Love it. I am a simple guy who wanted a stereo to replace the manufacturer's original in my 2009 vehicle that would allow me to hook up my android phone via Bluetooth and play the occasional CD if needed. this does that no problem. 2 things that bug me about the stereo though, (1) I cannot figure out how to a manual search up and down the FM dial and (2) I have to cycle through multiple options to switch between the radio and Bluetooth. Perhaps there is a simpler way that I just have not discovered yet but if there is it is not intuitive. Other than those 2 small things, I love the stereo. It does what I need it to at the right price.

A great head unit. The Bluetooth is seamless and pairs easily and automatically every-time I get into the car. I listen to a lot of radio, and this is a HUGE improvement over my stock head unit. The ability to pick up stations has increased dramatically. Stoked!
Pros: Affordable Easy to install Easy Setup
Cons: glossy screen can make it hard to view sometimes (when sunny and at a specific angle).

Great product. Sound is awesome!! Setting can be a little difficult to use but I'm also a newbie when it comes to stereos. But I would recommend this product to anyone. The colors are also awesome and installation was a breaze!
Pros: Sound quality, multiple colors to choose from, easy install.
Cons: Setting can be a little aggravating dor someone who hasent used stereos much.
