The Crutchfield experience was great! My Sony SW5 was delivered quickly and arrived undamaged. Sony's subwoofer was easy to set up and worked seamlessly with my HT-A9 system. The SW5 has good bass quality and seems to fill the room with bass tones. Overall, a very solid subwoofer. Maybe a little better with movies over music. I would recommend the SW5 to anyone looking to pair with other Sony equipment.

Perfect Pairing

A great addition to my Sony HT-A7000 soundbar.
Pros: Smoother bass, sounds more natural and blends in with the A7000.
Cons: Big and heavy for a soundbar sub. It's substantially harder to move around than the SW3 and the shape makes it awkward to hold.

This is a good bass. Really fills in for a great bottom end paired with the HTA 7000 bar. Not overpowering. Quality build.

Solid Bass and Good Looks

This subwoofer is a fantastic addition to my Sony HT-A7000 sound bar. The enclosure is a bit large but looks very nice with rounded edges. It has deep bass and can rumble my house when watching movies. I have the subwoofer volume set at 10 out of 12 and it's impactful without being overbearing. When set at max volume I find it to be too noisy. This unit should please anyone looking to add the full home theater experience to their home.

I Didn't Want To Buy This.

I didn't want to buy this because I didn't expect much from a $598 (on sale) subwoofer. I'm a bass snob and already have a Marin Logan Descent i, an SVS SB-3000, and an SVS SB-3000 Micro. I was afraid the Sony would sound bloated and cheap, it doesn't. I bought it to go with the Sony HT A9 and it really sounds good with that system. I tend to keep it in the 5 to 8 range on the volume and it's nice. The volume on the HT A9 remote is very handy. The subwoofer volume also magically appeared on my Sony A80J along with most of the HT A9's controls. I set my subwoofer on an isolation pad about 3 feet away from a corner of the room, it comes on along with the Sony HT A9 and the Bravia TV. Easy and fun!
Pros: Sounds good and the integration with the Sony TV and Sony HT A9 system was flawless.

MUST HAVE ADDITION!

I bought this to add in with my Sony HT-A9 system. Couldn't have been easier to wirelessly link with the system. And it IMMEDIATELY added weight and dimension to my home theater system. I did notice a little distortion if I had the bass volume set to MAX, so I just backed it off a little and it was fine. For me, it's a must-have addition. The build quality is top-notch too!

Great Subwoofer for Sony HT-A7000 Sound bar.

Bought this to pair up with our new HT-A7000 sound bar, and it works perfectly. Seamless integration with the sound bar, and automatic on screen setup, and even automatic on screen update. Remote allows you to control all the variables you'd like to easily. The only negative is like almost all Sony remotes, none are backlighted, but it's not like your changing much with this system. It just plays beautifully.
Pros: Easy set up. Easy updates. Sounds great.

Finally got it from back order and the existing HT-A9 automatically detected it and added it to the setup. Noticeably improved the low-end bass in the overall sound of the system, especially with a Dolby Atmos source
