Does the HDMI output support the HDCP 2,2 standard?...which I think is needed to support playback of 4K DVD's.

You can't,Sony shows you what they want,I don't no why this unit is rated so high.

how to connect to roku ultra box and I also have a Yamaha YAS-408 soundbar that already works fine. I was able to get video connecting the bluray player to the TV, but no sound. Tv is a Vizio, but I don't know the model #?

Yes, as long as whatever you are hooking up to has the HDCP 2.2 HDMI Hookup.

It sounds like you need to speak with a technician for help. I do have this model Bluray player and can verify that it does have the Hulu App. I am not a subscriber to the service, but I was able to connect to the site and had access to a trial subscription but neglected not to. Hopefully, this answer is sufficient.

I want to connect this Sony 4K Blu-ray Player to my Yamaha RX-V681. Since this Blu-ray Player can have a dedicated video and audio HMDI connection, can I connect both of the dual HDMI connections to the Yamaha receiver (1 for dedicated Video and 1 for dedicated Audio)? Or do I need to run a separate HDMI to my television bypassing the Yamaha receiver?

This player uses a "wall wart" type power adapter. The Sony model number for the adapter is AC-M1215UC and the output is 12VDC 1.5A. The original adapter is available from Sony at their parts website which is run by encompass under part number 1-493-350-11. (unfortunately Crutchfield will not allow me to post the Sony website in this reply). There may be other sources for cheaper "knock off" adapters that may or may not work, but this one will give you the genuine Sony part.

You are'nt gaining anything by using both hdmi output of the player to the receiver. You only need 1, that's the beauty of it, hdmi combines high resolution audio and video in one input. The dual hdmi output of the Bluray player is for users that want to seperate the hi resolution audio (Sacd) to regular bluray movie watching.

The 4K Blue-Ray Player connected well with my Yamaha Receiver...so far works great and as advertised...the low end Sony Blue-Ray did not work that well and I eventually had to get a higher level Blue Ray Player...I have used only one HMDI connection and it seems to work fine...

I'm looking for a Blu-ray player that will EASILY play audio CDs. I saw a question that said it will play them but what I want to know is what do I have to do to get it to play. Can I just drop the disk in and hit the play button on the remote? Or do I need to turn on the TV, navigate to a drop down, select the CD, wait for it to load and then have it play?

It does a bit, but not to the 4k level, you can't get full 4k from a blu ray, you can only get so much...but for the price it's a good player.

Hi Nathan, As I have a smart Tv(Sony)I have to navigate to the setting that deals with DVD's.load Your CD and select play.I'm currently using a DVD so I assume it will work the same way.Good Luck. John M

Once you drop the cd in and hit the play button, it'll play automatically to first track. Then you can directly hit the numbers on your remote to go to the corresponding track you want to hear. No tv needed.

You will need to hit power on the tv and DVD player find the input or source button on tv remote, select the input you have the DVD connected to then load a DVD and hit play.

Does anyone know if I use the Sony UBP-X700 Blu-ray player, with the Sony XBR65X900H with the Sonos ARC if the TV would passthrough the audio from the Blu-ray player and be able to output Dolby Atmos to the Sonos Arc?

Yes it can i provided the receiver getting the signal is capable of processing the signal. I had one receiver that didnt recognize the sacd output. The denon <---SACD----Sony works well. Page 24 of sony manual indicates that it can also. I tried to send a link to the PDF but was not allwed to link to other website. Its a good cd dvd player for the money. rcr

My old player doesn't play subtitles when streaming Netflix through the device. It plays subtitles fine when playing a dvd. Does this player allow subtitles when streaming Netflix or similar?

Yes. I have Yamaha sound bar and the blue ray sound plays out very nicely

I have an older Onkyo receiver (TX SR-703). It doesn't have an HDMI input but I think it has digital coaxial. Will this player work with it?

I like my Sony DVD but I have cable through my set- not the dvd. I CAN control subtitles with my DVD and disks.

Yes, i believe so, just connect the HDMI Out 1 jack ( video/ audio) to your tv and connect the coaxial digital cable to your Onkyo receiver. It's a great player and does so much, like play SACD and 3D, good luck!

Patricia, yes. On your Onkyo rear panel there are two digi (yellowish) coax in jacks in upper left corner when viewed from back. On the Sony the digi coax out jack is betw. the HDMI 2 port & the Caution symbol. The digi coax is an RCA-type plug, not a screw on like on your cable coax. You'll need to configure the receiver to recognize which digi coax in jack is your CD In. If you don't have your manual, your SR703 is in Crutchfield's Discontinued section. A link to online manual is right under the "What's in the box:" title. BTW, the reviews on your SR-703 are great. Enjoy!

For "Audio Only," yes it will. You will have to use the HDMI directly to your TV for the video.

My Denon receiver is mid 2000s and does not have HDMI inputs/outputs. Is there a simple converter that would work, without degradation, to allow me to utilize this player with my receiver?

The UBP-X700 only has HDMI output for video, so if your TV has an HDMI in, then it will.

I would think that would work just find. There have been no basic changes with this type of equipment for many more than 6 years. I currently have mine conected thru an Onkyo receiver. Previously, I had it directly connected to a Panasonic TC-P60GT30 with zero problems.

Will you get stereo and surround sound with this?

I do not think you will be able to use the blue-ray player if i remember it only has HDMI and there is no way to plug analog in to it. also I do not think there is an adapter not that I know of.

Not 100% sure. I would check Crutchfield first. I would imagine video signal would be reduced though. I'm sure Crutchfield could set you up with a new Amp!??

I know of no device that will properly convert this signal. This is a 4K capable device that would be an even greater challenge. Conversion to coax might be possible but you would likely run into an HDPC compliance issue.

You will get what ever sound is on the DVD or CD, on the remote you can select from the audio formats available. Most formats work with HDMI some only on coax or fiber optic outputs.

Yes, it outputs via HDMI and passes digital audio through so it will depend on what your AV receiver or soundbar can decode. I get Dolby Atmos and DTS-X as well as other formats. Stereo or surround modes work as well, but again depends on the receiver or soundbar setting.

Right now it is not part of the product and we do not expect it to be added.

I am certainly no expert, but it should work ok with regular DVD's, and probably ok with Blu-Ray discs. You will probably have a problem if you want to watch a 4K disc. Regular CD's also will probably have no problem.

The following is listed w/ the description. I have never done it but one would think it was doable. USB Port: The front-panel USB (type-A) port allows you to play photo, videos, and music files on a connected USB device. The player can recognize Mass Storage Class (MSC) Devices that are FAT-compatible and Still Image Capture Devices (SICD) class devices. The player can recognize up to 500 folders/files. The USB port also allows you to enjoy additional content (such as BonusView) on certain Blu-ray Disc titles. Some BD-ROMs have bonus content and other data which can be downloaded to an inserted USB Flash Drive (minimum 1 GB recommended, sold separately).

Most DVD and Blu-ray players are not capable of playing audio red book CDs properly with the dynamic realism of even a cheaper player. So my question is, those that have purchased this player, how well does it play cdâ??s and also inserted 2-3 TB hard drive hi-res files, 96/24 or 192/24? I know if will cover any needs with hdr including Dolby vision, but I need to know if it will play everything as well, or should I keep my 15 years old Denon cd/sacd/dvd-a player? Thanks

I purchased a 2 terabyte Western Digital Passport . You pick if you want the Mac version or Pc version . The drive is already formatted in Ntfs. I have 200 movies on one of my drive . You can also connect the drive to your WiFi router with a usb 3.0 jack , choose the network icon on the Sony Blu-ray player. Now you have a media server .

It can play videos according to the linked owners manual. I don't see the format listed specifically but FAT32 or ExFat are supported by Sony TVs. If partition size is a concern look at the network playback options and it would be less relevant.

What are the differences between this one and the ubp x800?

I hesitate to try to answer this as I'm more of an audiophile wanna-be. I have an Emotiva CD player that I use primarily but for multi-channel I have to use the Blu-ray with Anthem 520 receiver. My current SACD's are Tumbleweed Connection, Brothers In Arms, Pink Floyd box w/ AHM quad mix, and DSOTM Immersion box. I think they all sound wonderful. Also being somewhat of a pack rat I'd caution against getting rid of anything that's still operational.

This unit plays MP3 and a bunch of other compressed formats & audio CD's, DVD's, Blu-Ray's and 4k discs very well. As far as I know it does not play SACD or DVD-audio discs or any of the specialty discs, but you would need to ask Sony about it. I don't have any more of those type discs anymore.

I can only tell you about the Sony UBP-X700 which I am very pleased with. There is plenty of info and reviews about both on the web. After that, you decide. BTW the Sony UBP-X700 is cheaper and is upgradeable to Dolby Vision(DV) in about three minutes with a USB flash drive. The X800 does not have the DV option. I hope your question is answered.

The 700 supports Dolby Vision. The 800 doesn't. The 800 has a Bluetooth transmitter that sends audio from the player to Bluetooth-compatible headphones or speakers. The 700 doesn't. The 800 has free downloadable Sony SongPAL app (available from iTunes Store and Google Play) helps connect the player to your wireless network and controls playback, and volume. Also gives you control over other compatible Sony speakers as part of a multi-room music system and is Spotify® Connect compatible. The 700 isn't. The 800 has BD-Live and BonusView support for added bonus features with compatible discs (requires external USB storage device)/ The 700 doesn't.
