Perfect match.
Dennis from Pottstown, PA on 6/4/2025
This was purchased through Crutchfield and to be added to our new BRAVIA 8 II 65" Class QD-OLED 4K HDR Google TV (2025), plus our new BRAVIA Theater Quad with 16 total speakers, Dolby Atmos®/DTS:X , and our new BRAVIA Theater Bar 9 with 13 speakers, Dolby Atmos®/DTS:X. I have to say it was the perfect and best match to our new Sony Theater System. Flawless installation and well fitted for all the features Sony has to offer. From easy to search for the specific disc player we were looking for and then easy to purchase and deliver to us in a timely manner. Cannot go wrong with the Sony, as it is the only brand that I trust with my home theater experience for the last 35 years. Great work by Crutchfield and I recommend it to everyone.
Pros: Everything.
Cons: None, so far!

Sony UBP-X800M2 Blu-ray, DVD, and music player is GREAT!
Steve from STARKVILLE, MS on 5/2/2025
OUTSTANDING sound and features, sheesh! Daisy, bless her, sold em to me. Tucker helped too. GREAT customer service. and FAST, prefect delivery! Dang! Set-up was EASY! I prepared in advance by reading and understanding the .pdf manual. Paired with Klipsch RP8000F2 speakers, LG 55" OLED, Klipsch R120-SW sub-woof doohickee, and a Sony UBP-800M2, and some Cleer Enduro ANC wireless phones which I haven't tried yet. I got the system set-up and started watching Blu-ray movies and listening to CDs. It is an easy set-up and quick to use. The Sony UBP-X800M2 works flawlessly! Everything played and sounded GREAT. Fabulous Crutchfield sales and service. TY!
Pros: 1. Easy to set-up with LG/Onkyo and use quickly. 2. Performs flawlessly and no issues at all. Beautiful playback and sound.
Cons: 1. None.

I had not purchased a new Blu Ray player in 10 years. when I received the new Sony and plugged it in, I was impressed with how quickly it boots up and is ready to play DVDS. It is also amazing the difference in sound quality with my home theater playing Blu Rays versus watching movies with the streaming services.

Does it All
Steven from S Charleston, WV on 3/17/2025
Great value for a Sony Bluray player. So far it has played everything I have thrown at it...ATMOS, DVD Audio, SACD, CDs, as well as bluray movies... mostly music is my main use...I just use HDMI connection out to AV receiver and HDMI out to TV. It was purchased to supplement and save some wear and tear on my Oppo 103....share the workload so to speak. My current 2012 Samsung does not support 4K so no reveiew of its UHD video capabilities. Great price, next day delivery...what more can you ask for!
Pros: Price, Value, Features
Cons: Only very minor downside, does not support Gracenotes for CDs...but that is old news, apparently Sony stopped supporting Gracenote back in 2017

Great player, but doesn't last long. MOVE ON!
Daniel from Sarver, PA on 2/27/2025
When we bought this Blu-ray player, we splurged because we do not use them a lot -- just for family movie nights in our basement -- and figured "why not buy the best (at the time)?" Well, in all seriousness we used this player less than ten times over the time we've owned it, and yesterday I found that it will not play ANY Blu-ray discs. It plays DVDs and CDs, but not Blu-ray. I tried everything, and when I researched this issue online, I found this is common. I am not interested in spending hundreds of dollars on a disposable device I can use less than ten times (and which just adds to more junk in landfills). If this was a one-off "you got a bad one" incident, I wouldn't be saying any of this. My guess is that most of the people here leaving positive feedback are leaving that feedback too early, and have not gotten that shock of the player becoming useless. Just wait... I did give an extra star for one reason: When it worked it was fantastic.
Pros: Great picture and sound when it works, easy to navigate, fast loading.
Cons: Is totally unreliable.

Panasonic vs. Sony
George from Kennesaw, GA on 2/22/2025
Very good unit...solid 4.5 star. Bought this unit because the 4K Panasonic 820 I bought would not play audio through the digital optical out (possibly due to my older very high- end processor (non HDMI). So, I dropped down a level to this 4KSony...video is excellent...8 to 8.5 on a scale of 10...versus 9 out of 10 for the Panasonic. The main reason for switching was the coax out audio...which was not on the Panasonic... this audio out is a 10 on a 1-10, sounds superb in 2 channel stereo and a 5.1 high end set up. I am VERY satisfied with the picture - with an Audioquest "Carbon" interconnect, 4K discs are excellently presented, upscales 1080 discs almost to 4K, and upscales normal 480 discs to 1080. At a hundred or so less that the Panasonic, a great value. If your setup is all HDMI then either unit would be fine... incidentally, the Panasonic does not have coax out, as you have probably sumised by now.

SIGNIFICANT improvement over my last Blu Ray! Much quicker and easier to use. I've already used it more in a few days than I used the last one in a year (the other one was that unsatisfactory to use).
Pros: Quick. Easy to use. Great remote.
Cons: Size (possibly).

Tre from Cypress, TX on 2/10/2025
The quality of picture and sound was impressive for the price. I was replacing my oppo so I wasn't sure if my expectations would be met. With the Sony there were exceeded. Great product for the price. Plus it also plays SACD which was important to me. If your not wanting to spend the money on a Panasonic this is definitely recommended.
Pros: 4K quality on OLED is phenomenal
Cons: None as of yet.

IT JUST WORKS!
Patrick from Derwood, MD on 2/5/2025
I buy Sony products because they are best in class AND they work together seamlessly. Sure, you can save a buck here and there by purchasing a Samsung this or an LG that. But when you connect everything (if you can) they don't play nice with each other. So I just buy the best-in-class (Sony) and when I plug everything in and turn it on, IT JUST WORKS.

Sony UBP-X800M2
Mike from MILWAUKEE, WI on 1/9/2025
Just bought this yesterday. I went to a high end audio/visual store hoping to find something to connect my 20+ yr old SACD (5.1 RCA) to my newer Yamaha Receiver (HDMI)...in order to get the most out of my SACD collection (some hybrid stereo, some non-hybrids and many 5.1 surround discs). I was told that such a cable does not exist, but I was shown this Sony Blu-Ray Player which also plays various audio formats (SACD, DVD-A etc...). Reg. $329 on sale for $229. Hooked it up this morning and gave it a test run with Blu-Ray movies and various SACDs. Beautiful audio and video! It solved all of my needs...including the fact that my previous (inexpensive) Sony Blu-Ray player was having tray issues. I've seen some reviews that were less than 5 stars because they couldn't hear multi-channel (5.1) audio. Maybe they forgot to set it to "multi" in the menu or they bypassed their receiver and went directly thru the television (?). Don't know...but so far it's performing beautifully for me.

SACD won't play
Ira from Wantagh, NY on 12/22/2024
I tried to play my multichannel SACD but it would not play any layer. Not sure if it's because my HDMI cable leads into the TV instead of my receiver, but that's the way the 4K discs will play the best. This seems to be a common problem amongst this model. Does anyone know of a proper fix? All of my firmware is up to date

Not perfect, some defects, but still among the best out there.
Alfredo from Hudson Valley, NY on 12/2/2024
This will be my fourth unit since 2018. After a couple of years, one player refused to recognize discs (any disc). I bought a replacement disc drive for $60 and installed it, and this fixed the issue for a while. Hit or miss with these units. Another unit started to randomly, briefly freeze on some 4K discs after two years of use. Not much to be concerned with, but it happens. One of the units I bought worked flawlessly for four years, but on that one I do not play 4K discs as on my other one. Recently, my movie theater unit started skipping on random 4K discs, as a previous unit did. Just now I bought a new unit to replace it when it decides it is done (took advantage of Cyber Monday sale). So, why do I keep buying this brand and model? Because believe it or not, it is among the best out there. Which is a sad statement for someone of my generation (Gen X) who can remember stuff lasting a much longer time. I still have a Super 8 projector from 1980 that works! Other than the issues I mentioned above, the video and audio quality is as amazing as others have stated. The Dolby Vision is no issue for me, as our theater projector, like most projectors out there, does not have this capability. I also do not use this to stream, as I use Amazon Firesticks. So, I keep coming back to this model because rather than deal with another brand and model that will surprise me with other defects, I am sticking with the devil I know....
Pros: Great audio and video, ease of installation and use, wonderful upscaling, UBS feature
Cons: Brief freezing on random 4K discs with some units after a couple of years (even with cleaning). One unit refused to recognize discs anymore after 2 years.

This Sony 4K Player may not be the top-of-the-line 1000 ES or 1100ES unit, which I do own both, but this UBP-800M2 is a top-notch unit. I even own the Panasonic UB-9000ubk1 I also bought from Crutchfield, which is a great Player too! But the 800M2 is a real competitor to all these other units. I like that Sony left out many options that these top units all have. They just brought their game to a bare bones Player, which I don't mind. The picture is awesome, and the Video and Audio Settings are really helpful. Like many have said, you have to go to Dolby Vision manually. No big deal to me. LOVE Crutchfield, and many pieces of equipment from them, and they have NEVER let me down. Crutchfield all the way!!!

It does provide a great picture when working properly. I bought this to upgrade my Sony UBP-X700/M. Both of them stall and pixelate playing UHD discs. They both do this in random spots in different discs. I would go back to play again through these areas. It would play fine. The discs are brand new. So this player is not ready for prime time which is too bad because it is a nice player otherwise.
Pros: High quality picture when working correctly. Features Dolby Vision.
Cons: Stalls/pixelates randomly for no reason.

Why is it when I play back DVD's & Blu-ray disc I get volume through my external speakers with my recent purchase of the Cambridge Audio CXA81 using a Audio Quest digital RCA coax? But using the video apps included with this unit, will not play audio through my external speakers?
Pros: Video quality is very good... But serious con as noted

Ease of use is worse than previous generation
Anonymous from Riverside, CT on 9/1/2024
This is to replace a Sony bdps-5100s which recently stopped playing some discs after 10 years. Sony (and possibly other manufacturers as well) have skimped on things like on machine displays and buttons and even remote buttons. And this is supposed to be a higher end machine than my previous one. In the day and age, even apps are fewerL only 3 are available. And Youtube sign-in does not work, as it does not provide an on-screen keyboard or a QR code to scan. (Previous machine provided both.) On the plus side, the machine looks solidly built. It does play almost all discs including ultra HD bluray. Sound and pictures are good. A competent machine wrapped in pure inconvenience.
Pros: Plays almost all disc types. Wi-fi is reasonably good even in weak signal environment.
Cons: Does not have an on-machine display of any kind. Cannot operate from the machine itself at all, other than turn on/off, close/open disc tray. Has to rely on the remote. Remote is too minimalist. Does not have number keys for random access of tracks. Too few apps for video streaming, only Netflix, Amazon Prime and Youtube. Youtube scan to sign in does not work, no QR code displayed.

Great picture, plays many more file types than other streamers with it's USB port, even higher end audio files. Bluetooth works well and has a steady signal compared to my previous unit. No problems playing videos thus far. Con: It has a difficult time and I have yet to find a way for it to find a network server. No way to use Plex. TV needs to be on in order to navigate as just a power light is located on unit. Seems to have difficulty with large storage devices.
Pros: Picture,file types,bluetooth
Cons: Home server issues, no Plex capability, larger storage not working in USB.

I Had a Problem
Michael from Long Island, NY on 8/23/2024
Reading all the negative reviews would either make you think twice about buying this or just reconcile the fact that there are always some defective products, especially with high tech items like Blu-ray players. Several months after buying this is had a problem. CDs no longer played while Blu-rays were fine. Called Crutchfield and they gave me the Sony number and in 2 weeks I had a new player. It has been working for several months, though I still fear it will die once again. Other than that, it does the job for me.

Great Blu Ray Player
Jim from LEBANON, TN on 7/11/2024
I purchased the UBP-X800M2 on 7-24. I was not expecting much, but as it turns out, the 800m2 may be the best blu ray player I've owned which is saying a lot. In the past, I've owned Oppo, Pioneer Elite, Panasonic & Toshiba. This player produces superior video and audio. My 480p dvd's look like blu ray's. The upscaling is excellent. I can only find two negative things to say about this player. The remote is very small & cramped with no back light. Also, you have to manually go into settings & turn Dolby Vision on & off for each movie. The player will not do it for you. These are minor complaint's, however. One other thing that deserves a mention. You actually get an operators manual in the box. That's almost unheard of these days.
Pros: Excellent picture quality, impressive upscaling, excellent audio, owners manual in box.
Cons: Small remote with no back light, manual Dolby Vision activation, no front panel display.

Mike from Elkton, MD on 4/11/2024
No player less than $1000k can play sacd, dvd and blu ray audio disc's and all of the movie disc's that this can for a fraction of that price. I have 3 so far and have zero issues. The only thing I wish it had that is doesn't are analog outs. If you want to play sacd through a separate dac besides the one in your avr you need a break out box that can do dsd through coax into a dac that can do dsd through coax. I only know of one box that can do that and that is the GeerFab D.BOB which costs $1000k. That is just the way Sony made the sacd format for copyright protection and is not the fault of the player. Great value vs performance especially when on sale.
Pros: Plays every disc format that I own, build, sound, price vs performance vs competition.
Cons: No analog outs, no display on player.

Sony UBP-X800M2 works for day-to-day DVDs and Blue rays. I purchased this one because it plays SACD Multi channel and DVD audio Disk. I have an older Pioneer elite that plays DVD and SACDs that uses analog through RCA jacks located in the receiver. Analog DVD audio and Super Audio sounds superior compared to the HDMI PCM format. This Sony has no lighted display on the front of it which seems strange to me. Other than that, the Sony UBP-X800M2 is just ok Not really happy with its performance in the Audio quality. If my Old Pioneer had HDMI, I would much rather stay with it for the sound.
Pros: Plays Blue ray and DVD's.
Cons: No display on front of the unit without the remote it's a paper weight.

I will NEVER spend more than $100 for a DVD player again!! This player has been the most 'glitchy' player I have ever bought!! Both my $69 Samsung Blueray's perform better as well as even my first original old JVC player. As I watch DVD's of TV series (as with Two & Half Men and MASH to give a couple examples), when it changes from the end of one show and goes to the next in line, the player shuts off signal - confuses the TV monitor - then brings it back. Also does this sometimes just going through the "previews" and as it changes to the actual movie. Discs that play perfectly in every one of my other DVD/BR players will skip, pause or goes black for a second or more during playback with this player, new movies, older movies... it doesn't discriminate.
Pros: I turns on, the remote works...
Cons: See my review.

A great transport for a variety of formats.
Patrick from South Strafford, VT on 3/5/2024
I bought this to use as a CD transport. I have a couple hundred (?) SACDs (not deliberately) and I'm not sure why I should pay several hundred dollars ($1400 at least) for a CD player that can play them when Sony's DVD player can do the same for a *fraction* of the cost, and also play far more CD formats for a *fraction* of the cost. And the warranty is the same! The unit is plugged into a Cambridge Dacmagic200M which is itself plugged into a Marantz PM6005 and a couple high end KEF speakers. So, not a budget system, but also not audiophile, which is fine. I'm not an audiophile. The sound? Beautiful. My SACDs? Beautiful. I couldn't differentiate between this DVD player and the former Cambridge CD player I had been using as a transport. I dinged it one star because SONY decided a "Play Button" was asking too much. All you can do without a remote is off/on/eject. Fortunately, SONY remotes are a dime a dozen and fortunately, I had an older SONY remote that allows me to punch in track numbers. That's another reason to ding this a star. The remote that shipped with the unit only offers forward and back. Lastly, I bought a little 7" LCD monitor to use with the unit. I generally leave it off, but if I need to see what track I'm on or interact with the player, then I can. Still, a fraction the cost of a CD player. BTW, I don't own a single Blu-ray DVD and don't have a flatscreen TV.
Pros: Can play just about anything and, unless you're a hard core audiophile, makes a great CD transport.
Cons: To use strictly as a transport, you'll have to pick up a little monitor (relatively cheap), if you don't want to connect it to your flatscreen.

Good overall
Rodney from Central City, KY on 2/18/2024
So far so good. I'm giving this a 5 star because at this point I'm still in the 4K learning curve as well as my new Onkyo AVR. So, any lack of performance may be my own fault for improper setup. Overall really good picture and performance so far. Other reviews mention freezing up on occasion. Mine did that on one of three movies watched thus far, but only for about three seconds. There is a YouTube video out there that claims to be a fix for this by changing a couple of settings. Given reviews on other players, this is probably as good as one can get at this price point.

Broad format support with a few quirks and limitations
David from Clarksville, MD on 2/10/2024
The bad: * I spent two days of trial and error experimentation to get 3D to work with the player connected through an Onkyo receiver to a Samsung plasma TV - the player would pop up a "you don't have a 3D capable system" screen. TL;DR is to either change the "Screen Settings > Output Video Resolution from "AUTO" to 1080p, or ensure that CEC is enabled on both the receiver and the TV. For the Onkyo, CEC is called RIHD, and for the Samsung it is called Anynet+. Sony Tech support, while available and responsive, had no solution. * While the Amazon and Netflix apps will support 5.1, the YouTube app will not, and you cannot upgrade these apps. * No CD title or Track info is displayed on the TV because Sony deleted support for Gracenote DB lookup a few years ago. * The unit itself has NO display, so without the TV on you can't tell which CD track is playing. I don't have a 4K TV, ATMOS, SACD, or Bluetooth headphones so I couldn't evaluate those features. The good: * Excellent picture * Simple operation * Extremely broad support for disc types and file formats * Blu-ray, 3D, DVD-audio, DVD, CDs all worked well. I was especially pleased with the quality of legacy DVDs. * Feels like a very solid unit * Provides both a Video/Audio HMDI output and an Audio HDMI output for use in cases where you (for example) have a 4K TV but your receiver will not pass 4K I recommend this unit with the caveats noted; excellent value
Pros: * Extremely broad format support * Excellent picture * Simple operation * Excellent value
Cons: * Lack of front panel display makes CD use less convenient * Can't add apps beyond the three built-in * Instructions for 3D operation leave out some possibly essential information

One Player to Rule Them All
Jeff from Chapel Hill, NC on 2/7/2024
OK, so I bought this player primarily to watch "The Lord of the Rings" 4K Trilogy, and compared to the DVDs of the same content, it was stunning. With that said, I am finding that the 4K upscaling is very effective for my Blu-Ray collection. DVDs also look better, depending on the quality of the transfer, but expect no miracles for 480 to 2160 conversions. I haven't had time to explore how well DSEE HX works on CDs and MP3s, but at the time of this review, I have had the player less than a week. Crutchfield, as always, was awesome with great product descriptions and fast shipping.
Pros: Loads discs very quickly Build-quality is very good 4K upscaling can add life to your disc library
Cons: Manual switching for Dolby Vision

Should be better
Thomas from SACRAMENTO, CA on 2/5/2024
Third one works. So far. There's a mildly irritating need to go into the device menu and turn Dolby Vision on or off, as applicable, on a disc by disc basis. I don't mind it too much. The biggest issue is finding the very small print on each disc case, that tells you whether Dolby Vision should be selected. You can also press display on the remote and find it that way after the disc is inserted in the player. The exponentially bigger issue is that movies will freeze during playback of 4k discs. With the exception of one (Time Bandits), all of the movies that froze were long movies. The freezing for those occurred shortly after 2 hours of playback. With the first two devices, freezing occurred with 30% to 40% of the movies played. Crutchfield authorized return of the first 2 and offered to test the third one with several movies before shipping it. Based on the way it was repacked (batteries in the remote and the way the cord was placed in the box), it's obvious it was opened and based on the the way it works, it seems very likely it was tested. So far I've played about 10 movies, without experiencing the freezing issue. So, I'll remain hopeful. So, overall, I'm a bit disappointed with Sony, given the positive experience with other products over the past few decades. I do, however, remain impressed with customer service from Crutchfield.
Pros: Price
Cons: Freezing Need to select or deselect Dolby Vision

Same problem here
Charles from Denver on 1/29/2024
If I may review the Sony even though I purchased it from a different dealer. This Sony fills a much-needed spot that I don't find from any other device. Too bad I had the same interruptions to my music listening that everyone else seems to have experienced. Even the replacement unit that Sony sent me had the flaw. You would think that they checked this JUNK out before sending out a replacement unit. Then they just quit talking to me. It is so bad with static discharge that When I touched a light switch about 8 ft away it caused the Sony to stop playing for about 15 seconds. I have lost all faith in Sony after this.
Pros: The SOny plays all kinds of Audio files that most others won't. Including Audio DVDs and Flac files on CDs
Cons: Sony abandons you after the first effort.

FRUSTRATING PRODUCT INCOMPATIBILITY
Tony from Laguna Niguel, CA on 1/15/2024
Why do I begin a Sony review by talking about the 4k Panasonic DP-UB820? All my home theater gear was purchased in the 2nd half of 2023. (65" Sony A95L. Denon 3800H, and thirteen speakers). My months of DVD frustration began after I received my 1st, very highly rated, Panasonic DP-UB820 from another retailer in July. It came without a shipping box. It displayed Image stuttering, freeze framed geometric artefacts on 4k DVDs. Assuming that the player was damaged in transit, I returned it. Then decided to order my 2nd 4k Panasonic DP-UB820, double boxed, from Crutchfield. Same thing happened: Freeze framed geometric artefacts displayed. I returned it. Exasperated. What to do? Which brand of DVD do I pick now? Being a Sony man from way back, last week I quickly decided to order the Sony UBP-X800M2 from Crutchfield. Plugged it in with the same wiring I used on the Panasonic. The Sony immediately performed not only flawlessly, but easily, and beautifully, and it was cheaper than the Panasonic! Problem solved. Thank you Crutchfield for hanging in there with me whilst I worked to solve what to me can only be described as product to product incompatibility.

Fast loading and beautiful picture.
Norman from Springfield, MA on 1/7/2024
This X800m2 is real fast loading to the disc menu. I have the Sopranos on blu ray and it takes over a minute on my old player to go thru that gun image to the episode menu. This X800m2 takes about 20 seconds. That's a big deal if you don't like waiting. I also had some dvds that locked up ,so I tried them on the X800m2 and they played great. I think these modern disc drives are more capable of navigating problem discs. And the picture is beautiful, even on standard Def dvds. I only have one 4k disc and it's crystal clear and very detailed. I'm very happy with the playback. I have a ton of straight blu ray discs and figured I might as well get a 4k player for future disc purchases. Cds sound great too. It also has apps for YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon prime. My Sony smart TV has all this and more,so it's not a factor in buying this X800m2. It's a well built player that looks great in my video cabinet. It's very quiet. Only power and eject buttons on front panel. Audio/video hdmi and audio only hdmi outputs on back. I'm looking forward to playing my favorite discs on this as well as discs with problems that won't play on my other player. I'm very satisfied with this Crutchfield purchase. They always have the latest and greatest from Sony and that's my go to brand. Consider this X800m2 if you are thinking of getting into a 4k player. Cheers!
Pros: Solid build, real fast loading, and beautiful picture.
Cons: None so far.

Fantastic picture quality....duh
Scott from Rexburg, ID on 1/3/2024
I bought the UBP-X800M2 because the 700 was out of stock. I needed a new BluRay player because my Oppo 103 failed. I chose the Sony over the Panasonic because I wanted to take advantage of the Bravia link on my Sony A9G OLED. Paying extra (over the 700 model) for a few apps seems like a waste since the TV has the same apps. But it does have 2 HDMI outputs like the Oppo and I like that feature for running the audio to the amp. OK.......so, as for the player itself, it did exactly what I was hoping it would. First, it paired with the TV seamlessly. I t took all the settings for WiFi etc from the TV so I didn't need to go through that at all. Second, the picture quality is fantastic but I expect that from a Sony player. In short, you get exactly what you would expect from a top-of-the-line Sony. If you have a Sony TV, it's an obvious choice IMO.
Pros: Links with Sony Bravia Fantastic picture quality
Cons: Pay for apps you don't need

Audiophile 2 channel soluton
Edward from PEARL RIVER, NY on 12/30/2023
This is the second UBP-X800 I own. I use one for home theater and 1 for two channel music listening. For 2 channel listening it is an audiophile dream for an extremely good price. This unit plays high resolution SACD's, Blu-ray and DVD-audio disks in addition to normal cd's. I have it connected to my Parasound Hint 6 amp using the coax out on the UBP-X800. Since there is no display I use a Samsung 32inch TV for checking tracks and adjusting. I would rather not have to use a tv with it, but the 32 inch is not heavy and I move it out of the way when not listening to music. In summary, there is no reason to spend thousands on an audiophile cd/sacd player when this is such a great solution. I am very particular about sound and this Sony Blu-ray is excellent. it also play hi-res files from a USB drive. Don't throw out your old cd's. Use this low cost set-up.
Pros: Price, sound quality, versatility
Cons: No display

David from NAPLES, FL on 12/23/2023
DVDs, Blu-ray discs, and 4K DVDs all play brilliantly on this machine. The colors are brilliant and the details crisp. Further, my CDs sound absolutely wonderful on this unit when played through my Yamaha receiver using the receiver's Pure Direct mode, in which the sound is unadulterated and sent through my two front channel speakers. The build on this Sony player seems very solid as well as it is much, much heavier than a typical DVD or CD player. The two HDMI outputs, one for audio only and one for audio and video, are a plus too, and allow for a variety of hook-up methods, depending upon the other AV equipment that one has. Clearly, I am happy with this purchase.

Nicely made - doesn't feel cheap, works well, incredibly easy to setup. It was setup and tested with a DVD and a CD before I even got the "delivered" confirmation email from Crutchfield. Talks to everything local properly. Except, and this is a minor detail, it doesn't talk to a CD service (Gracenote) to identify CDs and tracks. Apparently Sony stopped this in 2019
Pros: Everything "just works".
Cons: Doesn't identify CDs

A Cinematic Marvel in Your Living Room
Mike from Wesley Chapel, FL on 11/17/2023
I recently acquired the Sony UBP-X800M2, and it's a game-changer for home cinema. Its ability to deliver incredibly lifelike 4K imagery and vibrant colors makes movies come alive, especially when upscaling older films. The sound quality is equally impressive, with support for advanced audio formats like Dolby Atmos, enhancing the viewing experience. The player's build is robust, complementing its quiet and efficient operation. The intuitive remote adds to the ease of use, although a backlight would have been a welcome addition for better visibility in the dark. On the downside, the operating system is basic but functional. It does everything needed, though lacks advanced features seen in some competitors. In summary, the Sony UBP-X800M2 is an exceptional Blu-ray player that has revitalized my movie-watching experience, making it a worthwhile addition for any movie enthusiast or audiophile.
Pros: Feature-rich, quiet operation, beautiful image and audio quality, nice remote, amazing build quality.
Cons: Operating System is ok and very basic, remote should have a backlight as it can be hard to see the buttons in the dark

Very good 4K Blu-Ray, it has an anti-vibration chassis, and heat sink to cool down the equipment. The only think I found uncomfortable was changing manually the Dolby Vision, because if you leave the DV with Blu-Ray in HDR, it doesn't look natural, all the rest is good.

Only using for audio. Everything plays and reads discs very quickly. I've used it with SACD, DVD Audio and DTS. Regular red book CD sounds great also. Running it through an Essence hdacc ii, Vanalstine DVM m225, Kef LS 50 metas and two RSL speedwoofers. It sounds as good as the Oppo 980h it's replacing. Great price

Great picture!
Mark from INDEPENDENCE, KS on 3/6/2023
I bought this UHD Blu-ray player so I could step up the picture quality to UHD. Several years ago, I had purchased a Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray player from Crutchfield when I made the step up from DVD to Blu-ray. This UBP-X800M2 also shares a disappointing quality as does the BDP-S550 player. If you need to stop while watching, and return later to finish watching your movie don't expect the player to remember where you left off. It has no clue! So, I make it a point to identify my stopping point so I can resume later. Other than that, I am extremely pleased with the picture and sound quality! So, that is the reason behind the four star rating.
Pros: Great picture and sound qualities. Nice features in the limited menu choices. I don't use for streaming, as I already have that covered with another device.
Cons: Doesn't remember where stopping point is if you need to stop playback for an extended period of time. It seems to forget when I stop playback, and power down until I return. I must check time of playback so I can resume playing when I return.

Very good quality
Bill D from Yadkinville, NC on 2/23/2023
One of the primary reasons I chose this blu ray player was its ability to play SACD's. I was surprised by the quality feel of this player given the very reasonable price. The lower section of the faceplate folds down and the disc tray glides out silently with solid smoothness. Nice! The unit has some heft to it instead of feeling like a strong breeze would blow it off the shelf. As far as sound goes, I've not had enough time to give it much critical listening time but so far it does seem to be very, very good. Overall, it's a great value if quality at a great price is important to you. Oh, and picture quality is absolutely outstanding!
Pros: Quality feel and excellent performance

For this price, you will not find another player of this quality and ability to play multichannel SACD and DVD Audio Discs. The audio sounds great and I'm anxious to try some 4k blu-ray discs. Nice to see Sony (one of the inventors of the SACD) step up and continue support for this format with a high quality, lower priced player.

Easty to setlup and use Sony
Cary from Greensboro, NC on 2/12/2023
I ordered this UBP-X800M2 Sony Blue Ray to replace my recently purchased "Top of the Line" Panasonic DP-UB820. The Panasonic was far more difficult to set up and to operate and the entire household disliked it after several days use. Things easy on the Sony on the Panasonic were convoluted and difficult Subtitle settings required multiple trips through oddly set up screens. From the box the Panasonic began shouting loudly and fast in a foreign language and was difficult to shut up. I now have both the smallest Sony and the largest Sony both of which were easy to set up and use and the remote controls among the easiest to use I have seen. The Sony units also have terrific pictures and sound as well as a clear instruction manual and much faster operation than the Panasonic.
Pros: Sony Very easy to set up and operate. Remote is thoughtfully arranged. Great picture and sound.
Cons: None really.

Keith from Baltimore, MD on 2/11/2023
I went back & forth on this or the Panasonic UB820, which a friend recommended. The decision really came down to total tradeoffs, given i wanted a new A/V receiver and Blu-ray player and be as close to $1000 as possible. Having watched a few movies on it, I have to say the X800M2 is just a great player for the money. It makes standard DVDs look as good as my old Blu-ray player made Blu-rays look. Sound quality is far better than my old player, through my old receiver. This player was absolutely the right call, even without my self-imposed budget constraint.

Great sound and picture but frequent freezing issues
Colter from East Helena, MT on 1/29/2023
Starting off I'd have to say a 4K player is awesome. For someone who pays attention to sound and picture there is a vast difference in most 4K movies compared to regular Blu-ray. Now, why did I leave two stars you might be wondering? I left two stars for the great picture and sound this player produces. The missing three are for the lack of functionality of the player. I did my fair share of research on most of the 4K players out there and noticed that there is a common problem. They freeze. Some say they don't and some they do. Mine happens to freeze on the back half of most 4K movies. Regular Blu-ray movies do just fine. To say the least.. I am disappointed. Before I purchased this unit I contacted Crutchfield directly and expressed my concerns about these payers before making a purchase. I explained the research I found and the response I got was, "I personally have this player and many of my coworkers, and we've never had any of these problems. This player works great!." Being that I've had great success from Crutchfield in the past I decided to make the purchase. The first two movies I had great success and loved every minute and no freezing. A few weeks and movies later.. the freezing occurs on brand new discs. My suspicions were correct unfortunately. It's my fault I didn't return the player on the first time it froze. I'm also disappointed that I was told by a rep that "there's never been these issues." A very expensive mistake.
Pros: Excellent Sound Excellent Picture
Cons: Freezing Issues

Switched from Panasonic
Paul from Raleigh on 1/11/2023
Switched from a Panasonic DP-UB820 4K Blu-ray player to this. I was using the Panny for a few years b/c of its HDR optimizer feature that I needed to help an older JVC projector work with HDR on 4K disks. After upgrading to a newer JVC projector with a way better built in HDR optimizer built in, I swapped out for this Sony. The Sony is WAY faster responding so that alone was worth it. The Sony also adds SACD support - I do have a few SACD titles so that will come in handy too. Seems well built, the performance, quality and features are solid. No complaints after several months of use. I'm not concerned with the remote as I use a Harmony (knock on wood... *sniff*), which easily added this to my Activities.

Great little DVD payer
Michael from Port Washington, NY on 1/3/2023
Great player for the price. I looked at units that were double and triple the price but couldn't find myself spending that level of funds when this unit does everything I need it to. Yes, there is that one nuance about changing the setting manually when watching a DVD with Dolby Vision, but who cares. I don't use the apps, so the primitive apps screens are not a big deal to me. I watched a few HD Bluy Ray discs and the picture and sound quality are excellent. It pairs nicely with my Sony Bravia OLED TV.
Pros: Price, build quality and performance
Cons: Might not have all the bells and whistles as the high end models.

Sony never lets me down.
William st from KEYSVILLE, VA on 12/31/2022
I love everything about this player. It's played everything I have thrown at it from old DVDs to new 4k blu rays. All have looked fantastic especially 4k blu rays on the screen. The sound and clarity are unbelievable. Personally I love the size of this unit. It is SOLID. It feels like there is something inside it. You could grab this off the shelve and defend your home with it. Setup couldn't have been easier. I'm a long time Sony customer - radios, VHS players, Vaio laptops, DVD players. I even remember as a kid when we got the latest technology - a Sony Betamax! I'm glad I went with this model over their X700. Cons? I can't think of any. Maybe the ugly remote. Let's be honest the big red and white "Netflix" button is ugly. A lot of remotes today have it so it's not a Sony thing. A lot of us happen to hate Netflix so seeing that every time is a little annoying. I will probably put some black paint or tape over it. Problem solved! Crutchfield delivery as usual was fast and I love the dissolvable peanuts. How "green." Although I wasted 20 gallons of water trying to dissolve them. Smaller box next time? Please. Finally I just tossed them in the yard. Side note dogs will eat them. At least my retriever tried a couple. 20 gallons of water vs putting them in a landfill? Hmmm. Not sure we gained anything there. So just toss them outside and save our water. After one night and a light rain they were gone!
Pros: Video quality, sound quality and build quality.
Cons: Ugly remote

Great player-quicker navigation and loading vs Panasonic. Can force Dolby Vision or 422 444 ycbr chroma which can benefit your display. Solid Build - less Plasticy compared to rven more expensive models. Not as much chroma tone mapping features so you may be better off with the Panasonic's if you have an older display. honestly, I'm not sure if the 5 year old tone mapping tech on those units competes with todays displays

This is truly a well-thought-out BluRay Player except for the need to make a manual selection when upscaling some videos, but it is minor considering the professionalism in the construction, isolation of vibrations and noise, sound and picture quality, and the design of this unit. Great Player with Two HDMI Outs
John from Lorton, VA on 11/23/2022
Great player, and especially functional if you have an older AVR without Dolby Vision capability. This player has two HDMI outputs, one for both video and audio and one for just audio. This feature allows connection directly to a Dolby Vision capable TV with the video/audio output, thus bypassing the AVR which would have "filtered out" the Dolby Vision. The other HDMI output (audio only) is connected to any HDMI input on your receiver. (Settings in your components will need adjustment to suit this.) This feature is a great fix until a newer, more Dolby capable AVR can be purchased. The Sony UBP-X800M2 is a great player with many other video and audio features. Highly recommended.

Crutchfield documented this product very well, so if you know what you want and this is it, you will be pleased. Has all the features we wanted, worked as advertised, delivered promptly in good condition. For us the only "new" feature in DVD players that we wanted was WIFI so that we could stream without wiring directly into the router. Sony UBP-X800M2
Crutchfield customer from Tahlequah, OK on 10/19/2022
Very nice look and delivers beautiful picture/sound. However, it's ridiculous that it only has 3 streaming apps (YouTube/Amazon/Netflix) and that you can't add any more. I upgraded from a ubp-x800 to this M2 model to get Dolby vision and even my older player had more apps and ability to add a few. also, the player can tell you if a disc is Dolby Vision vs HDR10 but it can't switch automatically, you have to do it in the menu (for each disc).
Pros: Great picture and sound. The look of the unit is nice/quality.
Cons: No auto-sensing of Dolby Vision/HDR10, even though the player firmware shows you what type of disc you're okaying. Only # streaming apps and inability to add any.

Richard from State College, PA on 10/17/2022
Five starts for build quality, user interface, and playing all kinds of discs with excellent results. I'm especially pleased with SACD performance. One note for prospective purchasers: Only 3 apps (Netflix, Prime, and YouTube) are included, and there is no provision for adding apps. It also often takes several tries for Prime to load - I get the message that the app is too big to load, though it works on the second or third try. Not a real problem for me because my TV (also from Sony) does a fine job with apps and allows them to be added, but may be useful to know. Nonetheless, highly recommended.

Dan from Poinciana, FL on 9/28/2022
This player is excellent. Because of my space constraints, I needed to turn it sideways and so the front of the unit faces away from the side of my LG flat screen TV. And even with it facing off to the right of my TV, it still receives all the signals from the Sony remote control and I can fully control the player from the remote while I am sitting in front of the TV, and the player responds perfectly, as if it were in front of me and facing the remote control. Now I think I have gone as far as I can in my small space for Atmos Surround Sound (my wife thinks so also $) I want to steam Hi Def Sacd in Atmos music and also 4K Atmos movies but not sure how to do streaming into my system. I wanted one company to stream movies and music but I can't find one that does both so it looks like I would have to pay for two different companies to stream both. This is a replacement for a Sony UBP-X800 UHD Player purchased in 2018. The shipment was delivered in two days and factory box was packed in a plain brown box and was received damage free. The player has worked great the first few weeks of ownership. We have watched a few older dvd's and a few BBC dvd's from 2020 with no issues. I also watched the first 20 minutes of Gladiator on 4K BD using Dolby Vision setting. The video and audio looked and sounded great on my 5.1 Denon AVR with Polk speakers. I need to watch Gladiator or a different 4K UHD BD to ensure there are no freezing issues mention by some users.

Very well made player, has some heft to it compared to most bluray players. Excellent price for the features that it has. My a/v receiver is a few years old which has caused some issues integrating this into my system. I'm an old school plug and play guy and I couldn't get it to play no matter what I tried. Finally I found the answer after a few days. You need to use the #2 hdmi output to send the audio signal to the receiver and the main hdmi directly to the 4k TV. Now it works beautifully. Note: my receiver is not 4k compatible, hence the issue.
Pros: Performs well both sonically and visually.

Rock-solid player!
Scott from SIMPSONVILLE, SC on 7/21/2022
I bought this Blu-ray player to replace an old Sony Blu-ray/DVD/CD player I'd purchased back in the early 2000's. This player is half the size, very sleek and solid with only a small green power indicator light to let you know it's on. Set-up was a breeze and immediately played my copy of The Last Waltz. Connected to my set and soundbar via HDMI cable. Ultra HD looks great! Whereas my old Blu-ray player Home Screen had a complex set of menus to navigate through, the Home Screen menu on the Ultra HD has a simple design for easily playing material from DVD'S or a thumb drive. There are also shortcuts on the Home Screen to Netflix and Prime Video.

A bit disappointed with so few streaming apps
Clifford J from Cranston, RI on 6/15/2022
I will begin by saying that as a 4K/BluRay player it does a good job. Additionally, this appears to be well built and very sturdy construction. The reason for the low rating is as follows. In today's world of "smart devices" steaming content from various sources is of the utmost importance to many of us, and this is where this device falls short for me. The only apps on this device are Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube... really? No ability to add/install additional apps from a list... no sports apps.... nothing. My old Sony BluRay player had many options for apps. Additionally, when using Netflix, while flipping through the available content, the stream is constantly going blank/freezing for as much as 10 seconds as the title preview starts... which is rather annoying. I am truly hoping a firmware update adds more apps and fixes the Netflix freezing issue. I guess maybe I expected more from Sony regarding this player.
Pros: * Quality build construction * Good 4K/BluRay player
Cons: * Too few Apps (ONLY Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube)

Pros: Great push and play gui Svelte form factor
Cons: Remote is so last century

Sony X800M2 stops playing BDs, 4K after a year

Purchased this product 18 months ago. Six months ago it suddenly stopped playing any Blu-Ray or 4K disks. Regular DVDs and CD's still play -- as well as DVD-A. This is known issue reported to Sony by many users, but Sony has no workable solutions. For other issues, search "Sony x800M2 freezing". Great product for a year
Pros: Originally played BD, 4K, DVD, CD, and even DVD-A
Cons: Suddenly stopped playing BD, 4K content after a year. No workable solution from Sony, reported by many users

If you are like me, I did not believe all the specs. and info. listed, ya know too good to be true. Let me tell you, This devise will blow you away in every aspect. I first did the quick set up and dropped in the Eagles, Hell Freezes Over WOW Both audio and video were superb on a 20 plus yr. old dvd. I have a new sony tv and all hookups are all Crutchfield ultra high speed hdmi cables a must for future proofing etc. Then I did advance settings for video & audio, with a few calls to Crutchfield and their good support team help I was able to fine tune to my sound bar and my setup. I can not tell you how important this is! I must Tell you the upscaling to 4-K on old dvds is nothing less then amazing. Hands Down this is the best purchase I have made in 10 yrs. David from Chandler, AZ on 3/24/2022
Great picture, sound and price. I bought this to play CDs and SACDs, and it rocks for those. I do wish the on screen menu for playing CDs showed tracks better for easier navigation within the CDs, but that's not a deal breaker as I usually just play the full album anyway. The 4k BD features are solid, the picture is great as well. For $200, this unit can't be beat. For a lot more money, it probably can - but why?
Pros: Plays SACD and CDs Has upscale abilities for sound and picture Inexpensive Easy set up
Cons: Menu for CD playback could be better

Buying Another Sony
Chuck from Menasha, WI on 1/15/2022
I have been a customer since 1995 and I have always had good service and exceptional home electronics from Crutchfield. I still choose Sony over many other brands due to quality and consistency. This Blu-ray player exceeds my expectations from installation to sitting down and watching my favorite movies in HD. So far I have had no issues, setting up the player was a breeze which took maybe 15 minutes. The directions are pretty straight forward. I ran my HDMI cable through the wall, as well as my other hookups to the Samsung QN65Q70T which I ordered from Crutchfield also. I had to wait several weeks to receive my Blu-ray player but in the end the wait was worth it. I would highly recommend this Sony Blu-ray!
Pros: Picture quality, size, remote, ease of use and setup.
Cons: None so far.

Nice Sony Blu-ray player.
Crutchfield customer from Plainfield, VT on 12/2/2021
I've had the Sony UBP-X800M2 for a few weeks now. On the plus side, it plays DVDs without any problems and was very easy to set up. I don't have any Blu-ray discs, so I can't comment on that but the upscaling on DVDs is excellent. CD and SACD playback are first rate. I haven't bothered with streaming as I have an Apple TV device for that. The only negatives I've found so far is that the disc drawer and remote both seem a bit flimsy compared to my old Yamaha DVD player, and my older Sony TV. Overall, I'm quite happy with this player.
Pros: Does what it's supposed to do without hassles.
Cons: Slightly flimsy remote and disc drawer.

Gerard from Peoria, AZ on 11/5/2021
Purchased thru Crutchfield. Great transaction as usual. First Bluray delivered did not work. Crutchfield immediately sent out a replacement even before the old one was returned. Great customer service. The unit itself is heavy and has the feel of a quality unit. Having to switch Dolby Vision on and off is a PITA, but I knew that before I bought it. It does have another shortcoming and I'm not sure if it's a Sony issue or Netflix/Amazon Prime issue but, if you access either of those apps through the Bluray, don't expect to get Dolby Atmos because it's not supported. Glad I have an Apple 4K TV to handle my streaming Atmos needs.
Pros: Well built. Starts up and loads fast.
Cons: No Atmos through its Netflix and Amazon Prime apps.

Mixed Bag, Both Great and Annoying
Crutchfield customer from Kitty Hawk, NC on 11/1/2021
Pros - Acoustic and video performance quality is terrific! I use it more for playing SACDs than Blu Rays, but both are really great. A big improvement over my old Marantz combi-player. Cons - There is no status read out at all on the face of the unit and that's a significant source of aggravation/irritation. I can't tell the elapsed time on either type disc or the chapter or track number. There are also no controls on the face of the unit itself other than on/off and open/close. You are forced to use only the remote for everything else. A big loss from my old Marantz combi-player.

Excellent picture and sound.
Scott from SEVERN, MD on 10/21/2021
Have been using this for almost a year now with Sony XBR-65A8H OLED and Yamaha RX-A1000 receiver. Picture is flawless and stunning with HDR Dolby Vision from 4K blu-rays. Standard 1080p blu-rays also look better than ever. (I prefer not using the Dolby Vision up conversion on standard HD discs, the picture looks more natural and colors are actually better without it.) I have this in an entertainment center with a glass door and it runs very quietly. Had ongoing problems where the picture and sound would black out on/off near the end of movies. Talked to Crutchfield who directed me to Sony customer service since it's still under one-year warranty, and the Sony software updated released Fall 2021 seems to have fixed the issue. Definitely dropped a star for the on-screen menu. Not intuitive to locate things like HDMI output settings (I use HDMI 2 for audio out since my receiver doesn't pass through 4k video... this might also be the cause of lip sync issues which require adjustments via the receiver with each different movie.) Also Dolby Vision must be manually turned on and off if switching between different discs that do or don't have Dolby Vision, the unit does not detect it automatically. The only streaming apps are Netflix and Amazon Video, not really worth having on there. Have not used the hi-res audio option yet, note that there are no music streaming apps available on the unit. Bluetooth w/ Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones is excellent.
Pros: Incredible picture and sound with Sony OLED tv and HDMI sound output directly to receiver.
Cons: On-screen menu looks like really old software and is not intuitive, requires frequent access to turn Dolby Vision, bluetooth, audio out settings, etc. Some playback problems seem to be resolved after Fall 2021 software update from Sony.

Great Addition To My Entertainment System
Crutchfield customer from Calico Rock, AR on 9/13/2021
I had no idea that this Sony 4K player would work so much better than my old OPPO 103 BDP. It's not only better for 4K (OPPO only plays HD/2K Blu-ray), but also for Blu-ray playback. More information is displayed, all video is upscaled to 4K, has smoother flow, better color and depth of field. The Sony also does really well with streaming Amazon Prime, Netflix, and YouTube all three in 5.1 surround sound. The sound performance of Sony seems flawless and best the older OPPO. Lipsink is always perfect for all playback (2K, 4K, and streaming; this is something the OPPO doesn't do as well, the delay between audio and video seemed to be greatly affected by the complication of the video content (higher complication = more video delay to audio. I'd often hear it before it happen on screen). 4K Blu-rays are so much better than regular Blu-rays, that I'll only buy 4K in the future when available and I will be replacing all my best DVDs. As a matter of fact I haven't played a DVD in years. This Sony player is a keeper and I'm really pleased to own it.

Superb Piece of Equipment
Crutchfield customer from Dallas, TX on 6/9/2021
I have had this unit just short of two week. The unit came well packed. Was very easy to connect, just attached a HDMI cord from the Sony to the back of my Marantz sr7012 and plugged the unit in. The unit easily connected to my Wi-Fi in the house. After researching the the recommended settings on You Tube and review sites they were easily applied in the set up menu. As of now I do not have any 4k movies, however I do have Spears and Munsil 4K setup disc which had 4K demos on them and they looked unbelievable. One reason I chose the Sony over the other 4K players is because it played SACD's and DVD-Audio's. I tried the Fragile album (DVD-Audio) and Dark Side of the Moon(SACD) and they sounded fantastic. I am very please with this unit, the only downsides are that you have to switch on Dolby Vision when you have that kind of disc and that there is no display. For what you get this is a great value.
Pros: Plays all types of Discs
Cons: No front display and must toggle Dolby Vision on

Sony does it right for sure! This is a great Blue Ray/CD player and I would put it up against any C.D. player too. You would have to spend twice as much to get the sound and picture quality that is produced by this unit. I actually have a Yamaha that cost twice as much-which is also a great unit, especially for CDs. Unfortunately, many companies are not making DVD players now including Yamaha. I would highly recommend this Sony to anyone who wants great sound and picture quality.

"M2" stands for missing features
Crutchfield customer from Austin, TX on 4/29/2021
I have the Sony UBP-X800 for our bedroom setup and wanted a 4K unit for our main home theater. I would have thought that the latest unit designated M2 would indicate some minor improvements. Actually, Sony took away some features. Gone are many of the streaming options such as Pandora and Hulu. Also, the menus appear different and some setting are missing. I exchanged the unit for the Sony UBP-X1100ES. It is also missing the streaming options. The actual function of these two units appears identical. Unfortunately, these are the only universal 4K players that include SACD of which I have many. Oh how I wish OPPO was still in the Blu-ray player business. My OPPO is far superior to either of these units, but I bought mine before 4K was available. Blu-ray 2K and 4K is superior to any streaming option (4K or otherwise), and it's a shame that disc players have fallen out of favor and that there are not better options available. The Sony UBP-X800M2 and the UBP-X1100ES are good, but not great.

Nice features in a 4K capable blu-ray player
Crutchfield customer from Leland, NC on 4/28/2021
Great 4K Blu-ray player! Nice features like upscaling and it plays all kinds of discs. Two HDMI out ports, one dedicated to sound only, so you can route 4K video straight to a 4K capable TV and sound can be routed to a non-4K AV receiver for output to speakers.

If you want to play nearly any format, this is the unit to get (unless you want to spend several hundred or few thousand for an Oppo). I picked it because I wanted to be able to listen to SACD, DVDA, and Blu Rays. I was having some handshaking problems with my older blu ray player and an additional unit that I tried. Not sure if there was a software update on my LG 4k TV or Dennon AVR. No problems so far with the 800MII. I would have given it 5 stars but the price suddently went up $50 for unknown reasons. Still a value at current price though.

So far, not good
Tim from Silver Spring on 3/10/2021
As is mentioned in a few other reviews here (and many more elsewhere that I didn't see prior to this purchase), there seems to be a pretty prevalent issue with freeze ups. Almost exactly 1.5hr in to my first disc the entire system froze. Nothing worked but unplugging it. I'll try again today, but so far not great and this one is likely headed for a return.
Pros: Good features and stuff.
Cons: Can't actually play a movie.

Locks up
Crutchfield customer from CASTLE VALLEY, UT on 3/9/2021
It locks up sometimes, it won't respond to either the panel buttons or remote. I have to unplug and re-plug to get it to work again. Since the power strip is behind my receiver that's a big pain. Happened 3 times last week. Looses its place sometimes when turned off then restarted. It restarts with the FBI warning. Not always, sometimes. It times out too soon for me, can't configure the timeout. The open/close is slow. There's no play button on the panel which I like. While I'm standing in front of it loading a CD I like to have that button to get the show started. The streaming quality from Amazon is poor compared to the LG 65Nano90una tv. No harm. Now I know. Thought it might be better. Someone else might want to know b4 purchasing. It seems sensitive to imperfections on Blu Ray discs. It flaked out on 3 so far. I tested one of them on my old LG UBK80 and it had the same result. So maybe it's not the player. Could be Blu Ray is sensitive or I got some bad discs. Other than that, it has a very nice picture and sound, when it works.

This is the second one of these I've bought. I have a collection of dvd-audio and sacd. This plays them both, and anything else I throw at it. I couldn't see anything about the 1100 to make it worth the extra $$$ and I certainly wasn't going to pay crazy money for a used oppo. Great unit.
Pros: Great value. Sounds great.
Cons: Apps are useless

Make the investment!
Dennis from Pensacola, FL on 3/7/2021
Another review? Sure, why not! I've been spending portions of my kid's inheritance on DVD players over the past 5 years. I've tried so many many. Sony gave me something in 6700 series. But, it didn't make me smile 13 months into its use...when it failed. No complaints tho'. It did what I expected it to do and at it's price point. Even tho, I hoped for a longer performance. That's when I decided no more! I researched, read reviews, and argued with myself. I was going to get the Sony 700 (a compromise), but I realized it didn't have a metal chassis! Hence the 800! Thing is heavy, for a DVD player. No complaints. It's all the metal it has! I butted it to support a Sony XBR 65" 900H. What a great combo! What a great picture running thru the 800 into the 65" TV. yes, it hurts my eyes! ! I love the upscaling, as I've a few "old"DVDs, and it handles them easily. So, I'm pleased, glad I did get it, as I see it as an investment.

I bought the Sony Bluray player so I could access my DVD Audio discs and SACD's easily. And it does. I have eliminated two units to one with this purchase and removed a ton of wires. I had an excellent Panasonic Bluray player that gave a beautiful picture and a Pioneer universal DVD player that offered great audio so it will be interesting to see the video quality and sound quality of this unit. I will follow up this review down the road. So far so good! Thank you Crutchfield for the the service and help.
Pros: One cable does it all, and potential for separate HDMI just for audio.

Suits our limited needs perfectly
Crutchfield customer from Morris, MN on 1/8/2021
Does what I wanted, which is play all audio formats including SACD and DVD-Audio. I am more into the audio than video, video is perfectly acceptable for our needs (we still use a non-4k TV, so cannot really comment on the video aspects of this device but if we do ever get a new 4k TV we have a source for 4k content so that's a plus). This is being used in a system which now allows me to easily stream multichannel audio stored on our home server to the only room in the house with 5.1 speaker setup. Songs load fast and sound great (good enough for my 53 year old ears)! We have a Roku, and although limited to Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube on the Sony those all worked great and were quite fast to respond to commands (easily as good as the Roku). We are dinosaurs and still get some shows from Netflix on DVD, so it's nice to have a decent disc player (this replaced an ancient PS3 used solely for playing movies). I also like that there is no display on the unit itself, and a very dim power light. Extremely pleased with this purchase, meets our needs perfectly. Was able to get at a decent discount from Crutchfield in December--always a pleasure buying from Crutchfield.
Pros: plays dvd-audio, sacd, streams multichannel flac from home server no display on unit itself
Cons: none for what we use it for

Arrived faster than I expected, and worked flawlessly. I bought this unit as a replacement for an older Blu-Ray player that was only rated for HD, and not UHD. This unit works great. I have an older model of this same player in another room in the house. This player's interface is much simpler, and I think that is fine.
Pros: Easy to setup, and use. Works well, and as expected with UHD Blu-Rays, and UHD movies from Amazon Prime.
Cons: None.

Sony X800M2 Ultra 4k
Bought a new LG 4K NanoCell 90 series and needed a 4K Ultra BR for my system. This Sony X800M2 fit the bill and preforms perfectly so far after watching 18 4k Ultra BR movies in Dolby Vision. Over 40 hours of use without a issue. Picture/sound quality is perfect. The unit itself is silent running no noise from the disc reader at all. The initial setup was easy and fast and Instead of running it thru my Denon AV receiver I just connected the high speed HDMI cable straight to my LG 4K 90 series. This Sony is definitely worth the price I paid during Crutchfield's sale, pricey but worth it for the quality. There could be a draw back for some folks if room to place it is a issue since it is big like 17"s wide and 14"s or so deep, although it is only about 2"s tall. I have a large cabinet with all my AV setup so space wasn't a issue for me. I'm very happy with it. I can't speak to its streaming capabilities since I don't use it in that fashion. It plays high quality movies, Blu-ray, 4K and the old regular DVDs. I did try a few music CD and it played those very well also. I have a record turntable so CD music really isn't my thing for music but it'll play them well till your hearts content. I have had several Sony DVD players over the years and they are still going strong but their quality in performance is not comparable to this new Sony X800M2 4K unit, it is high performance quality all the way which was exactly what I was wanting. Thanks Sony for making a high quality unit!!!
Pros: High Quality Unit that plays movies and sound with perfection. Silent running compared to my other Sony players. Remote control works great from 20' away any how from my chair.
Cons: Large size unit could cause some folks a issue with limited space. As you can see in the pic it is as wide as my DENON AV receiver and as deep in the cabinet. No display or clock only a indicator light to let you know it is on. I would like to see a display of some sort, come on Sony.

If you are looking for a high quality 4k Blu-ray player that can handle Dolby Vision and Atmos but is simple to operate, this is a great option. It's not the cheapest thing around, and you aren't going to find a flashy interface with lost of customization, but if Netfilix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube are your apps of choice for streaming, then you are all set. If not, you might need a smart TV or Apple TV to pull in what you want. It turns on very quickly and the up scaling is pretty darn good. While I haven't used it, the Bluetooth capability could come in handy if connecting to a speaker out of cable range. The built in media server seems to work well. It sees the USB connected SSD that is hooked up to my wifi router just fine. I can upload my videos to my SDD and stream them to my TV through this unit. I recommend this player.

Have only used once so far but was blown away by the the difference between regular blue ray and the Ultra HD not just with the sound but also with the clarity and sharpness in the picture. Watched Hunter Killer 4k Ultra HD disc and man o man how much clearer everything was from the last time I had watched on HBO recently. Doesn't hurt that I had also purchased a Sony Bravia OLED XBR-65-A8H TV and a Sony STR-DN1080 all roughly at the same time to totally upgrade our home theater experience. Recently I put a new Blu Ray disc in the player and the audio would start at the "home screen" of the disc but there was no video. I changed discs, HDMI cables, TVs and could never get an image, not even the main screen of the player when no disc was inserted. I Googled my issue to find many others had experienced the same issue but never saw a resolution. I contacted Sony via their customer service form and they promptly replied to contact customer service by phone. I was optimistic they knew about what I was experiencing and would stand behind their product. Ultimately I received an email that said, "We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Your file has been forwarded to our department. Please be advised that Sony provides a standard 1 year warranty for initial failures to be covered by the manufacturer. Once the warranty expires, it will be the customers responsibility to cover any repair cost on the unit. Due to the fact that the unit is beyond the manufacturer's warranty, we regret to inform you that we are unable to assist you with the repair/exchange. Thank you." I get it's out of warranty but barely and it is a widely known problem. Very disappointed.

Straightforward, filler-free
Crutchfield customer from Richmond, VA on 10/26/2020
I wanted something straightforward and filler-free; movies and all our CDs (and other digital formats) from the "Before Time" . this fit the bill easily. The set up was swift, easy and resulted in immediate success. Prime, Netflix and YouTube are preinstalled, but I wish there was an offering of a few more things to round it out . but that's a minor gripe since those services are available elsewhere, easily. So far so good; responsive, easy to navigate the menus, etc . and being that we have a Sony TV (a very old one) that coupling is nice. I'm an old curmudgeon so the lack of front panel manual controls seems odd to me (and potentially a problem when the remote goes), so that may take others a bit to get used to. Simple, direct, and so far seems very reliable . just what I wanted.
Pros:
Cons: One problem I have is that the manual says not to use a cleaning disc for the lens which is odd to me. I'm all for a new way that's more appropriate and deviating from my usual flight plan, but none is provided.

Good value
Crutchfield customer from Apex, NC on 9/9/2020
Best all around player at this price point. Additional note: Purchased a scratch and dent unit and the cosmetic flaws are more visible than I would have expected but do not affect function of the player.
Pros: good value player- it has many features that more expensive units might not have. Good sound and picture quality. Can play pretty much any type of disc, a great option if you're looking to play both music and movies.
Cons: the main issue with this player is the clunky Dolby vision implementation- it works well but is annoying to use as you must go into settings each time you watch a different HDR format. Hopefully there will be an update that enables the player to select the correct format automatically, at which point I would consider this to be 5 stars. Lack of streaming apps might be a concern if you do not have a smart TV/streaming box.

Pros: Plays every format I own
Cons: I miss the days of having a display on the front panel. Especially when playing music and you don't need the screen on! I currently have two Blue Ray players set up in my system. A real piece of crap, don't waste Your money on this , constantly freezes, whether streaming or watching a disc, once You hit pause, that's it, you have to disconnect the power to reboot, because hitting the power button on the remote or the unit itself does nothing So disappointed in Sony (used to be the best, now just mediocre)
Pros: Streams 4K UHD from Amazon Prime & Netflix
Cons: Overpriced and totally unreliable

Did I think a new Sony 4 K Blu-ray player was going to improve the quality of my dvd and Blu-ray collection,NO. But I was wrong and honestly just blown away. And I can watch 4 K on my older Sony since I have not upgraded to a 4 K television. Sony has never disappointed me with any of there products. It makes me want to upgrade to a Sony 4 K television now.
Pros: Older dvd and BD look even better now

Recently purchased this Sony Blu-Ray player. It has teamed up very well with our new 4K TV and provides an excellent picture and excellent sound through our home audio system driven by a Denon receiver. I like its sleek, low profile design. We have tried it out on some big budget movies having great cinematography and high end audio and it performed very well.

Great 4K player
Crutchfield customer from Wickliffe, OH on 5/10/2020
I purchased this Sony because I wanted to upgrade from standard Blu-ray to a 4K Blu-ray player. First of all, right from the start you'll notice a nice hefty weight to this unit, makes you feel good about the quality just from that. After plugging in a few cables, start up & first time set up was a breeze. It will do a firmware update, only took a few minutes & ask a few questions. I popped in a regular blu-ray ( I have no 4k discs yet )and it looked great. It loaded fast & played right away, hardly any hesitation like my last player. The reason for the 4 star & not 5, and this will probably not even matter down the road but something your just not use to is that there is no display on the unit itself. No elapsed time, no info, but all you have to do is hit the display button on the remote & you'll get more info than you bargained for, so not a bad thing. This unit also had a few apps but I did not try them or use them because I have a smart TV & a Roku player with way more apps on them. Crutchfield had a great price & as always free 2-3 day shipping which made this a no brainer for me.
Pros: Good price on a premium player. Seems build quality is there, unit weighs about 8lbs, which is nice. It is Wifi & bluetooth capable. And it's a Sony
Cons: No display on physical unit, need to hit display button on remote & view info on tv. This second con was personal to me, since I have an older home theater receiver with no hdmi inputs my older blu-ray player had a digital optical out, but this unit uses a digital coaxial out so I had to purchase another cable to use the unit.

Fast!
Crutchfield customer from Bellefontaine, OH on 4/27/2020
Compared to my old Blu Ray player I can't believe how fast this thing is. Push the play button and a second or two and the movie is playing. And the same when ejecting the movie, the door opens so fast and out pops the disk. My old Samsung Blu Ray player took for ever for the movie to start, and or eject. This player was easy to set up, no complicated hoops to jump through. And very easy to go back into the settings and change them if you don't like the way you set it the first time. My only complaint would be that, it does not up-scale to 4-K automatically when you want to watch a 4-K movie. I did watch a 4-K version of Star Wars, but did not go in and change the settings to 4-K, and the movie was still crystal clear. For me at least the failure of the players ability to automatically switch to 4-K was not a deal breaker. Given one must ask themselves the questions, how much is enough, how much can the human eye perceive and observe, and how much can the human ear hear? You've found your player, buy it, you'll like it!

Extreme bang for your buck if you understand it's limitations.
Crutchfield customer from Raleigh, NC on 2/10/2020
Where the X800M2 shines is it's ability to shine play almost any media format you throw at it which is rare since Oppo left the market segment. I purchased to use mainly as my digital audio center piece though I generally focus my resources on analog. I love that I can no play DVD-A, SACD, and Bluray Audio as well as standard CD's. The USB flash drive and streaming support is just icing on the cake. The picture quality is strong. Those looking to purchase for audio purposes just need to understand there are no analog outs. You will need to rely on the DAC in your receiver or external DAC device (as I do). The dedicated audio HDMI out is nice as Sony protects/limits SACD and it doesn't output via the digital coax. For any other format though, the digital coax works perfectly. There are work arounds for SACD with a little research. Very happy with the value and diverse functionality. The unit itself also has a heft to it that feels like it was made correctly and not cheap. That was a nice surprise. The lack of any display on the unit does take a bit of getting use to but is not deal breaker by any means. All in all it is hard to complain honestly when you consider the price point, I could find no worth competitor for my needs until I hit the $450-500 price point
Pros: Heavy duty unit that plays more formats than any of the compitition at a similar price point.
Cons: Lack of analog output and no display on unit.

Bluetooth is the extra selling point.
Crutchfield customer from Fairfax, VA on 2/2/2020
A couple of points. First, this unit has Bluetooth. Most models in this price range do not. To me, that is a huge plus. Both my wife and I have Quiet Comfort II headphones from Bose (also great!). There are times when one of us wants to watch a DVD that the other has no interest in. With this Sony and the Bluetooth you can have one person watching the DVD and the other completely ignoring it, while reading in the same room. Great! Second point, and this relates to Crutchfield's great customer service. Soon after I purchased this player I wanted to try out the Bluetooth feature described, above. I followed the step-by-step instructions to pair my Bose headphones with the unit. It didn't work. The sound was garbled, unlistenable. After re-checking everything and still not fixing it, I called Crutchfield's tech support. The tech patiently spent time trying to help. At first, no luck. So he called Bose, while I waited. Turns out there is a glitch in the connection process between Bose headphones and the Sony player. All I had to do was turn "off" the two Codec settings. No apparent diminishment in sound quality, no more garbled audio. Worked like a charm. So, yes, I'd highly recommend this unit. And, from Crutchfield, of course.
Pros: Has Bluetooth capability.

Sony UBP-X800M2
Edmund from Pasco, WA on 1/10/2020
I do not have a 4k TV yet, so I can't speak to that level of operation. The player works perfectly with 1080p Blu-ray and 1080p HD TV. Set-up was a breeze and software update worked without a hitch. I have the player hooked up to my network via ethernet. I noticed in the specs that the player lacks the ac standard for WiFi. That seems a bit archaic these days as the wireless N standard is lacking in speed. Also, if you pause a disc for several mins, the player does not seem to have a screen saver mode. I can't find anything in the settings that indicates it has a screen saver function. This is a slight issue with a Plasma TV and a function that my previous Samsung 3D 1080p Blu-ray player had. If you stop a disc the player does not always give you the option to resume where you left off. I did notice the resume function worked with certain discs but not all. So, that could be inherent in the media and not the player. Other than the screen saver this is a very well built player. It is very solid construction, larger and much heavier than my previous player.
Pros: Unit construction, set-up and operation
Cons: No screen saver on pause of disc. No wireless ac standard.

Great disc player at a great price
Andrew from BROOMALL, PA on 12/17/2019
My first purchase of a Blu-Ray player and first Sony product ever. The features of this disc player are what attracted me.It can play CD-Rs and CD-RWs which was important since I also own some pro audio recording gear. That it also played SACD and DVD-Audio discs was a big bonus. The big feature of this Sony is that it also up-scales standard definition 480p DVDs to 1080p (2K TV). It will bring new life to all of your old standard-def DVDs.The effect is very impressive to see.Couldn't be happier with it. I'm a big YouTube fan as well and was thrilled to find that Sony's implementation of that popular website was FAR superior to my LG 4K TV's.The Sony's user controls on screen are much better and very intuitive to use, great simple remote, too.Absolutely blown away by the performance and feature set of this player and Crutchfield's price is unbeatable.Would definitely recommend to others who are looking to buy a nice Blu-Ray player.
Pros: In addition to great Sony Blu-Ray movies, this machine will also play most DVDs,home recorded CD-Rs and CD-RWs
Cons: none found as of yet.

Couldn't have made a better choice. I have watched a 4K disc that came with it and I can stream from my TV but it's good. Music was why I went for this player and I'm happy. Crutchfield customer from Merchantville, NJ on 12/12/2019
Fine machine; nice to get a disc player that doesn't feel flimsy. This has some heft and reflects a nice build quality. All the functions work well, picture quality is excellent and audio is fine. The machine is a little finicky about which video and audio files it will and won't read and play from the USB port. (I feed it an MKV file and it will read the video but says the audio format isn't supported, for example) In an age of vanishing physical media, its important for collectors to have a machine that will read as many disc types as possible, and this one is as good as you'll find these days, and for a decent price.
Pros: Quality video and audio output Solid build quality Reads many different disc and file types
Cons: Picky about file types and formats through the USB port

fine player
Crutchfield customer from Allen, TX on 12/4/2019
This is a fine player. I purchased it mainly for Dolby Vision and it renders that format as expected. Yes, you need to toggle Dolby Vision on and off but that is OK with me. There are plenty of repetitive things I do in life so this is just one more. Point is, you accept it, get used to it and move on. I also like the display option that tells me what bitrate my video and audio are playing at. Typically, the audio is playing at around 3mb/sec and the video at around 60mb/sec. This tells me the player is outputting more uninterrupted detail than I would get over my wireless network from a streaming service. The streaming options are limited, but I have all the streaming options I need on my other devices. I have a smart tv, receiver and streaming stick so why do I need redundant streaming options on my player? For the price, I got 4k upscaling, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and DTS-X, most of which require Sony to pay royalties. I consider it a good value. It came with 2 4k movies which were good for setting up and testing some of the 4k features. The player has performed flawlessly and discs load very quickly. Although I have only used it a few times, I suspect the build quality will hold up as well as my other Sony components.
Pros: tons of features, compatible with many disc formats, great value for the price

Exceptional build and video quality
Crutchfield customer from Kenmore, WA on 12/1/2019
This is a fantastic, well-made machine that's got quite a bit of heft to it. It's much heavier than the lower UBP-X700 (which has also got rave reviews too). The 800M2 is fast and most importantly, super quiet when spinning the discs. If you want a well-built player that uses metal throughout, as opposed to plastic built that are noisy, this is the one for you. Note that a software update fixes the Dolby Vision issue where the setting now stays on once you check it.
Pros: Exceptional video and solid build quality, built in Dolby Vision and HDR10, separate HDMI audio output, nice sale price.
Cons: Lacks Component video outputs (but nowadays no longer needed

Sony quality at it's best
Crutchfield customer from Lodi, CA on 9/16/2019
At first I was having a hard time choosing between this unit and an LG model at the same price. My TV is an LG but I have always had good luck with Sony products. A couple features on this model was the tipping point for this unit. First is its build quality. This is a well built player. and it is heavy. Second is it's Bluetooth feature abling to send a signal to headphones or speakers. And last is the audio sync adjustment. The rest are normal features and appsthat other players have like Netflix, Youtube. My cable box and TV have tons anyway. So that's not a selling point for me. This was an upgrade from my Panasonic Blu-Ray player. I wanted to step up to a 4K model and get into Ultra Blu-Ray discs. The piture is fantastic. I did have to go through the setup a few times to get things adjusted to suit my needs. I do wish it would send an audio signal out both HDMI outputs at the same time. I did try and send one to my Onkyo receiver and the combo (AV) to the TV with no luck. Also you can make the player come on at the same time as the TV. This confussed my wife for a day while I was out. I had to reset this feature so it only powed up when we turned it on seperatly.
Pros: Build quality, features, picture, sound
Cons: no display of front panel

Dolby Vision compatibility
Crutchfield customer from Woodinville, WA on 9/14/2019
I previously purchased the previous version of this model, the UBP-X800. After discovering that model did not support Dolby Vision, decided I would have to upgrade. I made numerous inquiries with Sony about this and the possibility there could be a firmware upgrade to my old machine and finally determining that was not possible. There are many things I like about both models, but the lack of support from Sony on the Dolby Vision issue was a turn off. Providing an upgrade option from Sony would have been a nice gesture.
Pros: Solid build, supported formats, compatibility with other Sony components.
Cons: Lack of Sony support forcing me to purchase similar component to ensure compatibility.

excellent 2019 ultra HD player
Crutchfield customer from Cincinnati, OH on 9/2/2019
I recently bought a 4K TV and so realize that I'd have to get a 4K player to utilize its full potential. I had been waiting for the Sony X800M2 release, since it's a bit foolish to buy a 2017 or 2018 model and I'm not disappointed. It has the newer HDR10 and Dolby vision capabilities. It has worked seamlessly for me. Most of the other ultra HD players are being priced twice as expensive as this model so this was clear choice for me.

Thus far I'm pleased with this Blu Ray player. I did have one incident where a scene froze for 30 seconds. Upon inspection of the disc I found several finger print smudges. Hopefully that was the source and I don't have any future freeze up issues.

Quality product with some shortcomings
Crutchfield customer from Parma, OH on 7/6/2019
Solid, high-quality product. Excellent picture and quiet operation. Downside is way too many features and settings. Very complicated. Also, instruction manual almost useless. Almost no information in it. You have to go online and look at FAQ to figure things out. Very inconvenient. Also, the unit has no display. So you need to turn on TV to perform any function, even those that have nothing to do with video. Annoying.
Pros: Excellent picture. Quiet operation.
Cons: Lack of display. Poor instruction manual.

Very easy set up and simple to use. The picture is sharp and clear. I do wish Sony would spend a little bit more money on the paper they use. Recycle paper not too good.
Pros: Easy set up and very easy to use. Great Picture.
Cons: Would like a backlit remote. Remote is very cheap looking.

Very nice looking player and plays the 3 4K blue rays I've tried so far very quietly almost silent. I did however run into a glitch when I stopped the movie Logan then restarted from the menu and the picture got very dark. I restarted the player and it went back to normal
Pros: Quiet, good build quality
Cons: Bug that caused movie to go dark

Buggy
Crutchfield customer from Solomons, MD on 6/12/2019
Shipped well. Its well built, quiet, and integrated well with my Sony TV. The PQ is excellent. It has frozen twice and had to be unplugged to work. It has lost and refused to see the wifi once for over an hour and then suddenly saw it again. It has frozen on 2 different UHD discs and had to be restarted. If it settles down I'll keep it, any more issues and I will use Crutchfield's great return policy.

Very Nice Player
Jerald from Bountiful, UT on 5/14/2019
I received this beauty yesterday. I was thinking of buying the $1,000 Panasonic UB9000 but ultimately could not justify the extra $$$. This player really looks sharp and the build quality is excellent (metal chassis that is solid with some weight to it unlike the plastic model it replaced)! Setup was easy and it looked for, and then updated the firmware as the first step in the setup process. To my surprise, the box came with two 4k movie titles (an added bonus to the already reasonably price). We are a disc watching family, so I was most interested in the disk performance with streaming as a secondary need or want (I know we are becoming the minority with streaming taking the lead over disc's). Wow! The picture and sound are amazing! The remote is basic, and I wish it had a display. There are two buttons on the front (open/close the tray and the power button) along with power indicator light. On the back is an ethernet port, HDMI video/audio out, HDMI audio only out, and a digital optical out. I just use the HDMI A/V out as this is for movies in my system. It has all the latest playback bells and whistles. For the price, it is hard to beat this player. I am very happy with this purchase!
Pros: Well built, Great looking, Amazing picture and sound, ethernet port and WiFi, great deal for the price
Cons: Audio component outs would be nice, a display would be nice
