Clear and crisp at any volume

I've always been a person who tries to study a product before pulling the trigger on a purchase. This Sony XP700 is no exception. Prior to this I bought the JBL 310 Partybox more than a year ago, which is a very good speaker in its own right. The 310 however, has crossover issues at higher volume and although the bass is deep, it can be too unrefined. I'm a fitness instructor, and although the folks I'm training may not immediately notice the differences in sound, over time the sound quality through different genres of music are noticeably apparent. Understanding the need for a more "crisp and edgy" sound, especially at higher levels, I opted for the XP700. Once you download the app you have much more control over the range and depth of not only the bass, but the entire sound spectrum. I actually sat the 310 and the XP700 side by side and ran them both through their respective ranges. The XP walked away from the 310 in quality, mid-level clarity, solid bass, and open highs. A huge plus for me is that I can pair the XP700 with other Bluetooth speakers that aren't Sony brand. The 310 on the other hand can only be paired with JBL speakers. A point that JBL fails to emphasize in the details of their specs. Knowing this, I just ordered another XP700 prior to writing this review. I'll now be able to pair these up for my classes as well as other events. I've always been a stickler with sound quality, I hope this helps you.

Pros: Sound quality Bluetooth will connect to non-Sony products

Cons: The unit could use wheels. That's one of the things that JBL got right.

SONY COMES THROUGH!!

Brought this to replace a JBL 300,which I ended up giving to my son.The 700 has a fuller sound that I prefer over the other, not saying anything bad about the JBL.You can adjust through app which is cool, and I caught it on sale, which always helps. Sony has been improving the speaker line as of late, and for me,this was a great buy.

Pros: Build quality is fantastic, lights are not overwhelming when used, sound is full and plenty of bass. Tweeters separate the highs nicely.

Cons: None

The best outdoor speaker

Only complain I have, is the weight of this speaker. It has great looks. Easy to set up and use. It's almost plug and play. Handles on top. You can use it standing up or on side. Sound is fantastic and not too overbearing. Bass is perfect for outside. Highs and lows are exceptional. It's a perfect speaker for outside or inside. Love it. I have not tried to use it as karaoke yet or with guitar but will do soon.

This is a great BT speaker! The sound from it really isn't something you'd expect. I actually purchased two of these speakers, with one of them directly from Sony. The only issues I have with these speakers is their overall size and weight. These speakers are a bit on the big and heavy side for being a portable BT speaker. This speaker can be placed on their side or upright for sound or space concerns. If you're looking for a good sounding BT speaker, then this one is a great start. These speakers can be paired together using the PartyConnect feature, so all speakers can be used simultaneously for good sound wherever you are. The battery life is great for the sound it delivers. Overall, it's a speaker that's worth the cost.

Pros: Great sound for what it is! It's great BT speaker for wherever you need one. Easy pairing and linking to PartyConnect capable speakers

Cons: Size and weight. This speaker could be a bit cumbersome to move for some people.

BIG SOUND!

I needed battery operated full-range speakers for an outdoor electronic music installation. I bought 4 of the Scratch and Dent sale ones and they fit my needs perfectly. The only problem is that to get full resolution via Bluetooth you have to use Sony's truly goofy "Music Center" and that limits you to using Sony's Hi Res players. I got around that by building some TRS Mini Stereo to TR Mini shielded cables going out of my A&K SR25MKII. Going into the "Mic" inputs produced hum so I had to go into the TR mini line inputs. All works perfectly now. All of the above is using the speakers in ways for which they weren't intended, I know. If you're just playing tunes from your phone for a party, you'll be very happy immediately.

I used this Sony speaker to help blast some music during a home renovation project and it didn't disappoint! Super loud so you can hear it over a lot of background noise and would be AWESOME at an outdoor party! App setup is quick, easy and extremely user friendly!

Pros: Loud, clear sound. Great Bluetooth connectivity. Extremely user friendly.

Cons: Party lights could be brighter. Very heavy.
