Features

Load Generating Device & Signal Stabilizer: Today's factory systems include more Class D amplifier technology which can mute, distort or emit damaging frequencies to your new aftermarket audio equipment when the factory speakers are removed. Using carefully selected resistors and a Zobel Network, AudioControl's AC-LGD has been designed to generate load and stabilize signal from the factory system to ensure the best possible audio.

Note: The maximum recommended power handling for the AC-LGD is 100 watts or 20 volts.

Installation: The AC-LGD comes in a pair and can be easily connected to your factory system upgrade with the pre-wired connectors. The AC-LGD is installed between the factory speaker outputs and your line output converter or speaker level inputs on your amp or processor. Each LGD pair comes with standard wire colors for front and rear connections. Installation is simple -

  • Remove one input plug from your AudioControl active line output converter (LOC).
  • Unplug one end of AC-LGD then plug the AC-LGD into the LOC.
  • Install the plug you removed from the LOC to the open end of the AC-LGD.
  • Connect your factory speaker signals to the AC-LGD.

Notes:

  • If you are using a LOC with different style connectors, you may unscrew the connectors from the AC-LGD wires and install different ones.
  • To prevent damage or overheating, do not install or mount the AC-LGD below carpet or near heat sensitive components.
  • The AC-LGD is NOT compatible with Dodge/Chrysler vehicles. For these, a 37-50 ohm / 5-10 watt resistor must be spliced in parallel on each set of speaker wires between the factory radio and the line output converter.

Q
Do I need this for my 2009 Subaru legacy with the HK system? I am using an lci2 and only get 1.3ac volts to it from the factory amp. Do I need this?

Thank you for your question, Andrew. You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
For a 2022 Subaru BRZ Limited with Starlink but not using the OEM amplifier that powers the front door "woofers": Which AC-LGD should I use, AC-LGD or AC-LGD20? Audio Control Q/A says AC-LGD for "any non-Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler vehicles" but their online manual has an additional page tacked on the end that says AC-LGD20 for "2018+ vehicles W/O AMPLIFIED OEM systems" AC-LGD for "2005-2015 vehicles ALL MAKES/MODELS"

These AudioControl AC-LGD load generators should work with your BRZ, Robert. We do not have any research info on your specific model Subaru, but similar year Crosstrek models and my own personal 2016 Forester with Starlink have a 250 ohm load requirement and needed this model LGD, so these AC-LGD models that provide 2000 should work well in your BRZ.

Q
What is the ohm rating for these resistors?

A
Hmm. they are variable but I think they present a load equivalent to 4 ohm.
