Product Research

Features

Overview: The EPIC1500 monoblock subwoofer amplifier is part of AudioControl's EPIC Series amplifiers, offering robust power and exceptional sound quality in a compact and thermally-efficient design. The Class-D mono amplifier is stable down to 1-ohm, and can be bridge-connected (strapped) to an additional EPIC1500 for up to 3000 watts combined power into a 2-ohm load. The EPIC1500 includes an ACR-E Remote Level Control for controlling the bass level from the driver's seat.

Power: The AudioControl EPIC1500 can provide the following RMS output power (@ 14.4 V, < 1% THD):

  • 600W x 1 @ 4-ohms
  • 1000W x 1 @ 2-ohms
  • 1500W x 1 @ 1-ohm

Bridged (Strapped) Connection: The EPIC1500 can be bridge-connected (strapped) to an additional AudioControl EPIC1500 (sold separately), providing up to 3000 watts of combined power into a 2-ohm load.

Controls & Indicators: All of the EPIC1500 controls and indicators are located on one end of the amplifier and include:

  • Gain: This rotary gain control adjusts the overall level of the input signals.
  • Low Pass Crossover: A rotary dial lets you set the cutoff frequency of the Linkwitz-Riley Low Pass Crossover; 40-180 Hz range with a 12 dB/octave slope.
  • Subsonic Filter: Filters frequencies below the optimal range; filter can be set from 0-50 Hz.
  • EPICBoost: A rotary control lets you select a frequency between 30 and 80 Hz and use the corresponding Level dial to add 0 to 12 dB of boost at the selected frequency.
  • Power/Protect LED: Illuminates Blue when the amplifier is powered on and working nominally, and will change to Red if the amp detects a fault.
  • Max. Indicator: An LED next to the Gain dial will glow briefly during loud bursts of music when the gain has been set for optimum performance. If the Max. Indicator is frequently lit, the Gain may need to be lowered.

Epicenter Link: The AudioControl EPIC1500 subwoofer amplifier features a 4-pin Epicenter Link port that lets you connect a compatible AudioControl EPICENTER Digital Bass Restoration Processor (sold separately), providing power, ground and turn-on connections for the processor. The Epicenter Link output is protected by a 1A mini fuse installed in the amp chassis.

ACR-E Remote Level Control: The included ACR-E Remote Level Control lets you independently adjust the subwoofer volume from the driver's seat. The compact level control can be mounted under a dash or console and includes a 16' connection cable terminated in RJ-14 connectors. Remote Level Control dimensions:

  • Width: 1.76"
  • Height: 0.98"
  • Depth: 2.34" (including knob and cable)

Connections: The EPIC1500 features set-screw wiring terminals that use the included 3mm and 2.5mm Allen (hex) keys for loosening/tightening. Connections include:

  • Power & Ground: Power and Ground terminals will accept up to 2-gauge wire (4-gauge recommended); Remote In terminal accepts up to 8-gauge wire (18-gauge is usually sufficient). The EPIC1500 amplifier does not include any fuses; a 150A fuse (sold separately) should be placed in-line on the power wire, no more than 18" from the battery.
  • Low-Level Inputs: A single pair of RCA jacks is provided for connecting the amp to the source unit via an RCA cable. The low-level inputs can accept audio signals from 500 mV to 6 V.
  • Bridged In/Out: Two RCA jacks, In and Out, let you link two amplifiers (same model) together when bridging (strapping) them. The source unit signals are input on the first amp, with a single Bridged Out connection running to the Bridged In on the second amplifier. In this mode, all audio adjustments are made on the first amp, affecting the sound for both.
  • Speaker Output: A single pair of set-screw terminals, accepting wire up to 8-gauge, are provided for the mono output connection.
  • RJ-12 Jack: An RJ-12 jack provides the connection for the included ACR-E wired remote level control.

Q
Is the cable for the bass knob just regular phone cable?
julius  Jun 20, 2025
1 answer
A
The cable for the bass knob does have RJ-12 connectors on each end like regular phone line cables, but we do not know if the wires in a phone cable and their position in the connector line up with the wires in the bass knob cable and their position in the connector.

Purchasing https://
www.crutchfield.com/p_20650DC102/Kicker-50DCWC102.html will this amp work with it?
edward  Jun 15, 2025

A
Greetings Edward. Thank you for your question. The EPIC1500 will have two times the rated power of that Kicker subwoofer enclosure. The Kicker would like 500 watts. The EPIC750 would be the better choice. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_161EPIC750/AudioControl-EPIC750.html?tp=35834

Q
Can I use this amp for my P3D4 sub?
miguel  Feb 16, 2025
1 answer
A
Greetings Miguel. Thank you for your question. Your dual 4 ohm sub would be wired to be 2 ohms, or 8. Most will wire it to be 2. This amp puts out 1000 watts at 2 ohms, but the P3D4 10 inch can only take 500 watts, and the P3D4 12 inch can only take 600 watts, so the amplifier will have too much power for either subwoofer.
