The heart of a Ring Alarm Pro system with built-in Wi-Fi 6

Ring makes home security better, easier, and more affordable than ever with this Alarm Pro Base Station. It's the heart of the Alarm Pro system, and it doubles as an eero Wi-Fi 6 router. So, in addition to affordable home security, you'll be updating your wireless network to speedy, next-generation Wi-Fi 6.

Fourteen piece Ring Alarm Security Kit

Ring Alarm Pro gives you peace of mind and eero Wi-Fi 6 connectivity at an affordable price.

Modular system

Connect the base station to your modem via Ethernet cable to create an easily extendable mesh network. It communicates with the rest of the alarm system's components (sold separately) wirelessly via Z-wave technology as you add them to your system. The base station also provides visual and audio feedback regarding system status changes and events, including user-configurable "chirps" that sound when a device is tripped.

Those trippable devices include motion detectorscontact sensors, and outdoor contact sensors. You can add on as many as you need to get the coverage you want. They have a range of 250 feet from the base station, and you can add a range extender that will double that range.

You'll also probably want at least one keypad. They have clearly marked emergency buttons for police, fire, and medical response (Ring Protect Pro plan required for use). They also allow you to arm and disarm the system, bypass certain sensors, or trigger the alarm. Each keypad comes with a quick-release wall bracket so it can stay mounted or go with you from room to room.

Monitoring options

You can monitor and control your home's security on your smartphone using the free Ring mobile app. But if you want an extra layer of protection, you can purchase a Ring Protect Pro plan. For $20 per month, or $200 per year, you can get 24/7 professional monitoring of your home.

When your sensors get tripped, your base station will inform the monitoring center to call the authorities. Cellular backup is included in the plan so that you're still covered if you lose Wi-Fi.

This service is a great option if you are planning to add an optional video doorbell or Ring camera to your system, because it includes cloud storage for unlimited Ring devices at a single location. That allows you to save and share your videos, rather than simply monitoring in real time.

The best part? No lengthy contracts and no cancellation fees.

Expandable to fit your needs

If you already have a Ring Alarm system, never fear — this Base Station is backward compatible and works with all previous generations' components.

If you're starting from scratch, you might want to consider the 8-piece kit or 14-piece kit, depending on your needs, You can also add components individually. There's even an optional add-on panic button that trips the alarm with one touch.

And don't forget that the built-in Wi-Fi 6 router gives you the ability to expand your home Wi-Fi mesh network with additional eero routers and/or extenders. You can also add up to four power packs to keep your base station running with full alarm features and Wi-Fi for up to 32 hours when the power goes out.

Part of your ring of security

Ring Alarm systems are modular and all work together, so you can configure what's best for your home.

Remember — the Ring Alarm system is just one piece of your home protection puzzle. Fill in the gaps with these other Ring devices:

Some jurisdictions require permits for professionally monitored alarm systems. If you sign up for monitoring with a Ring Protect Plus plan, you will receive an email with information about permits and how to obtain them if necessary.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Ring Alarm Pro Base Station is the hub of an expandable whole-home security system that helps keep your home, family, and valuables safe. You can use the Pro Base Station to upgrade an existing Ring Alarm system, or to create a new Alarm Pro system. It has a built-in eero mesh Wi-Fi 6 router, so you can enjoy fast Wi-Fi and Advanced Online Security. You can keep track of what's happening in your home through the free Ring App, available for iOS and Android devices. The Ring Protect Pro plan, with 24/7 professional monitoring, is available, starting at $20 per month per location.

eero Wi-Fi 6: The Alarm Pro Base Station's built-in eero Wi-Fi 6 router covers up to 1500 square feet with speeds up to 900 Mbps. You can add eero Extenders (sold separately) to expand your coverage, if needed. You should set up the Ring Alarm Pro Base Station as the primary internet router, or "gateway," then add new eero Wi-Fi 6 or existing eero devices as Wi-Fi extenders using the eero app. This setup assures that you can access many of the Protect Pro subscription features. Advanced security features from eero help keep your data, devices, and network protected from online threats.

Alarm Pro Base Station: The Ring Alarm Pro Base Station controls your entire home security system, and provides reliable Wi-Fi coverage through its built-in eero router. All of the sensors are wirelessly connected to the Base Station via Z-wave, and to your computer, smartphone, or tablet through the Ring-Always Home App. The Base Station has a built-in 104-decibel siren, and a rechargeable 24-hour backup battery. It can be placed on any flat surface or wall-mounted. Dimensions: 6.658"W x 6.648"H x 2.683"D; Weight 1.9 pounds.

Add-on Sensors: The Ring Alarm Pro Base Station lets you add sensors to cover all of the areas you want or need, including keypads, contact sensors, motion detectors, and range extenders. Other Ring sensors, such as the Flood/Freeze Sensor, and the Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Sensor, can provide extra layers of protection for your home. Adding the Ring Panic Button lets you immediately respond to emergencies. If you have a Ring Protect Pro subscription, emergency responders can be notified by the 24-hour professional monitoring center when the Panic Button is pressed and held for three seconds. The Pro Base Station also works with Ring security cameras, smoke detectors, and video doorbells.

Ring App: The free Ring - Always Home app pulls together all of your Ring devices, including the Ring Alarm Pro Security System, Video Doorbells and Security Cameras. The app sends an instant alert to your phone or tablet when someone triggers a Motion Detector, or if a Contact Sensor indicates a door or window was opened. If you have the Ring Video Doorbell, the app alerts you when someone rings your doorbell. You'll be able to see, hear, and speak to anyone on your property through your Ring security cameras. In addition, the app lets you create a virtual Neighborhood Watch and receive alerts from your neighbors. The app lets you zoom and pan for a better look, customize the Motion Zones, times for receiving (or not receiving) alerts, and how often to be notified for motion events. The Ring App is available for Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch running iOS 14.0 or later, and for Android devices running version 9.0 and up. The Ring desktop app has been discontinued, however, all of your settings and Ring features will be accessible in your account on Ring.com.

Works with Alexa: When you integrate you Ring Alarm Pro with Alexa, you can arm and disarm your system by speaking to your Alexa-enabled device. With Alexa, you get hands-free access to an Emergency Helpline. In addition, Alexa Guard is a free feature with supported Amazon Echo devices (including Show, Dot, and Plus) that can detect the sound of smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, or glass breaking, when you set Guard to Away mode. You can set Alarm Pro Security to send you notifications when such detections occur.

Ring Power Packs: You can extend the life of the backup battery of the base unit with optional Ring Power Packs (sold separately). These stackable power packs deliver up to 8 hours of backup battery to your Ring Alarm Pro. They also work with eero 6 Extenders. Its sleek design lets you stack up to 4 Power Packs together to keep it powered for up to 32 hours in case of an extended power outage.

Backup Internet: If your internet goes out, Ring's 24/7 Backup Internet will keep your Ring Alarm Pro and other non-Ring devices online with up to 3 GB of data per month. If more data is needed, you can get Extra Data for $3 per additional 1 GB. The Backup Internet service requires an active subscription to Ring Protect Pro. Backup Internet is provided by cellular data from a third party carrier. Coverage, uptime, technology, and speeds will vary.

Ring Protect Pro: The Ring Alarm Pro Security Kit includes a 30-day free trial of Ring Protect Pro, which includes 24/7 professional monitoring, 24/7 Backup Internet, and much more. Professional monitoring provides access to emergency police, fire, and medical response at any time, plus monitoring of your alarms from your Ring accessory sensors (smoke/CO, water leaks, freezing temperatures). Having a monitored security system may lead to discounts on your homeowner's insurance. Ring Protect Pro is available for $20 per month, or $200 per year (saving $40 with an annual purchase). As of July 1, 2022, other basic features of Ring Protect Pro include:

  • Video History for up to 180 days (default 60 Days)
  • Video Saving and Sharing
  • Snapshot Capture
  • Extended Warranties for all devices
  • 10% off select products at Ring.com
Note: Ring Protect Pro is only available within the U.S. (all 50 states, but not U.S. territories)
