Features
Overview: The Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 (5AT2S2) lets you replace your existing wired doorbell with a premium video doorbell with lots of new security features, such as Head-to-Toe HD+ video and 3D Motion Detection. It also features built-in Alexa Greetings that answer the door for you when you're busy. When someone approaches your door, or rings the doorbell, you receive an instant alert, and can see and hear the visitor on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. Video Doorbell Pro 2 is hardwired into your existing doorbell wiring. It comes with a Satin Nickel faceplate, with the option of receiving an additional faceplate from the manufacturer (via email at setup). Mounting hardware and a corner mounting kit are included.
Camera: The Video Doorbell Pro 2 lets you see much more than most other video doorbells with its new Head-to-Toe HD+ Video. The wide angle lens provides a 150° (horizontal) and a 150° (vertical) field of view, which lets you see more of the person visiting, or check on packages that might have been left at your doorstep. The camera produces bright 1536p HD+ video in a Live View that you can watch on your phone, tablet, or computer. Built-in infrared LEDs enable clear color night vision after the sun goes down. In addition to the enhanced video, the Video Doorbell Pro 2 offers two-way talk with enhanced Audio+ so you can speak and clearly listen to your visitors.
3D Motion Detection: Ring's new 3D Motion Detection lets you customize a specific boundary (up to 30 feet away) to trigger the Video Doorbell Pro 2 to start recording. The internal radar sensors determine when the subject crosses the virtual threshold by measuring its specific distance from the camera. Combining this feature with Motion Zones and Privacy Zones provides you with better motion alerts and better detection of objects approaching head on. When setting up 3D Motion Detection in the Ring app, a map of your current location appears so you can indicate where the Video Doorbell Pro 2 has been installed, which direction it faces, and your desired detection range. Objects that enter this boundary will trigger the camera to start recording. Once 3D Motion Detection is set up, you can also utilize the Bird's Eye View feature.
Bird's Eye View: The new Bird's Eye View feature lets you view an aerial map with dots to represent the path that visitors take when visiting your property. Yellow dots in the Bird's Eye View monitor the current path of your visitor. As each dot gets older, they will gradually grow redder and more transparent before disappearing after a few seconds. Yellow dots appear in both live streams and in motion recordings. Gray dots appear in live streams to show where activity was detected before you answered the alert on your phone or tablet. The Bird's Eye View appears as a picture-in-picture window image in Live View and Event Timeline.
Motion Zones: Motion Zones allow you to define specific areas that you want the Ring Doorbell Pro 2 to monitor for movement. You can determine the size and shape of the Motion Zone in the Ring app by "drawing" the box on your screen. Other zones, where there is frequent activity that causes false alerts, can be designated as non-active. Other Motion Settings include scheduling and sensitivity. You can schedule brief interruption in coverage to avoid triggering alerts caused by expected activity. A slider in the app menu lets you fine tune the sensitivity from "People Only" motion to "All Activity.
Smart Responses: Ring offers Smart Responses to make the Video Doorbell Pro 2 even more helpful. You can select pre-recorded audio messages or alerts, or have Alexa take a message when your doorbell rings or detects motion. If you are a Ring Home subscriber, you can have Alexa greet visitors when they ring the doorbell, and offer to take a message, or provide directions for package deliveries. Alexa Greetings can be set up in the Ring App, including how long to wait after the doorbell is rung to respond, and where to specify where packages should be left. If you can't (or don't want to) answer the door, Ring's Quick Replies can respond when the doorbell rings. There are six preset responses, such as "We can't answer the door right now, but if you'd like to leave a message, you can do it now," or "Please leave the package outside. If you'd like to leave a message, you can do it now." You can watch your visitor leave a response using Live View, or if you're a Ring Home subscriber, access the message in your event history. Motion Warnings use an audible alert to let visitors know they are being recorded.
Wi-Fi: The Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 operates on an 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi connection on either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz bands. It requires a minimum upload speed of 1 Mbps, however, 2 Mbps is recommended for best streaming performance.
Installation: The Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 surface mounts to a flat surface replacing an existing doorbell and hardwired into your existing doorbell wiring. The hardware needed to install your new Video Doorbell Pro 2 is included in the box, including screws, anchors, wire extensions, wire nuts, and a screwdriver. The included corner plate lets you install the video doorbell at an angle, if needed. A Satin Nickel faceplate is included. Once you have installed and setup the doorbell, you will be sent a redemption code via email that can be redeemed for another faceplate at no charge in one of 16 available colors.
Ring App: The free Ring - Always Home app pulls together all of your Ring devices, including Video Doorbells and Security Cameras. The app sends you an instant alert when someone triggers a motion sensor, or rings your Ring Video Doorbell. You'll be able to see, hear, and speak to anyone on your property using your smart device. In addition, the app lets you create a virtual Neighborhood Watch and receive alerts from your neighbors. In the app, you can zoom and pan for a better look, customize the Motion Zones, times for receiving (or not receiving) alerts, and how often to be notified for motion events. The Ring App is available for Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch running iOS 14.0 or later, and for Android devices running version 9.0 and up. The Ring desktop app has been discontinued, however, all of your settings and Ring features will be accessible in your account on Ring.com.

It does just what I wanted it to do. When someone is at my front door, I can see who it is and talk to them if I choose.
