Features
Overview: The LEA ConnectSeries (CS) 64 is a 4-channel commercial amplifier that can provide up to 60-watts per channel for both Lo-Z (2-,4-,8-ohms) and Hi-Z (70- & 100-volt) applications - selectable by channel. The amp lets you configure and control all settings via a smartphone, tablet, or computer connected to the same network, using the built-in Web Browser-based UI. Cloud connectivity also lets monitor and remotely control the CS64 from virtually anywhere in the world through your free LEA Cloud account (registration required).
Connections & Controls
Audio Inputs: The LEA CS64 features four 3-pin Euroblock connectors that provide the balanced audio inputs. Four RCA inputs, parallel-connected with the balanced inputs, can be used for running unbalanced input signals. An input matrix in the DSP setup menu lets you freely assign any input to any of the four output channels. Two selectable input sensitivity options for balanced and unbalanced signals provide the following input levels:
- 34 dB: In this mode the input sensitivity is 1.4 VRMS, allowing full output in Lo-Z and 70-volt modes.
- 26 dB: Sets the input sensitivity to 2.0 VRMS, allowing full output in 100-volt mode.
Speaker Outputs: The CS64 features a highly efficient Class-D amplifier with four 2-pin Euroblock connectors for the four amplified output channels. Each output can individually be assigned for Lo-Z or Hi-Z operation with voltage and impedance selections. LEA's proprietary Smart Power Bridge lets you double (bridge) the wattage of Channel 1 without sacrificing the other three channels. Smart Power Bridge mode can be assigned in the WebUI menu.
- 60 W RMS x 4 @ 4-ohms, 8-ohms, 70-volts or 100-volts
- 30 W RMS x 4 @ 2-ohms
- 120 W RMS x 1 in Smart Power Bridge mode (minimum impedance not given)
Other Connections & Controls:
- Ethernet: An RJ-45 socket (10/100 MB) lets you make a hardwired connection to your local network, for configuring and controlling the amp, using a Cat5 or Cat6 cable (sold separately).
- Dante (select models): Dante-enabled ConnectSeries models have a second RJ-45 socket for connection to a 48 kHz Dante network.
- GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output): An 8-pin connector can be used for remotely powering the amp On/Off, and for providing the Fault Status for each of the four channels.
- Wi-Fi/Access Point: A push-button lets you select if the CS64 will be connecting to an existing Wi-Fi network, or if the amp will act as an Access Point for your device connection. A corresponding LED will light Green in Wi-Fi mode and Blue in Access Point mode.
- LCD Display: A rear-panel LCD readout will display the current network information.
- Power: A rocker switch powers the amp On/Off.
- Shark Fin LED: The front-panel LEA shark fin logo will light Blue if the amp is powered on using the main power switch, and Green if the amp is powered on remotely using the GPIO connection to a remote switch (sold separately).
- Status Indicators: Four sets of front-panel LED indicators can display the current status of each channel:
- Channel Ready: White indicates the channel is ready to pass audio.
- Signal Presence: Green indicates -40 dB of signal (or higher) is present on that channel.
- Clip: A Status LED will light Red if the signal on that channel starts to clip or distort, and will light Amber to indicate the built-in limiter is activating.
- Thermal: An LED alternating between Red and Amber indicates the amp channel is overheating.
- Fault: A pulsing-Red LED indicates the channel has shut down due to the protection circuit being activated.
Fan Cooled: The LEA CS64 features an internal variable-speed cooling fan for front-to-rear air flow.
Mounting: The CS64 amplifier offers multiple options for installation:
- Rack Mount: The half-rack (width) amp includes mounting ears and a spacer plate for installing it in a standard 19" wide equipment rack. Two half-rack amps can be mounted together in one 19" space using the provided ears and adjoining plate.
- Freestanding: Four rubber feet are provided for placing the amp on a table, shelf, or other flat surface.
- Under-Table & Wall-Mount: Multiple mounting screw holes on the amp allow the rack ear brackets to be installed sideways, for wall-mounting, or upside-down if installing the amp underneath a table or shelf.
Network & DSP
Network Connection: All configuration and control of the CS64 is made using a smartphone, tablet, or computer connected to the same network as the amplifier. Three methods of network connection are available:
- LAN: A rear-panel RJ-45 Ethernet port lets you make a hardwired connection to your local area network (LAN) using Cat5 or Cat6 cable (sold separately); the amp's IP address can be entered into any web browser on a smartphone, tablet, or computer for connection. The IP address will be displayed in the rear-panel LCD when the amp is powered on.
- Wi-Fi: The amplifier can connect wirelessly to your existing Wi-Fi network; options for entering your Wi-Fi SSID and password will be available in the setup.
- Access Point: The amplifier's rear-panel Wi-Fi button lets you switch the amp into Access Point mode, letting you connect your computer or device to the amp's built-in Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n; WPA, WPA2, WEP).
Cloud Control: The CS64 features Cloud connectivity, letting you remotely monitor and control the amp from just about anywhere in the world using your smart device or computer. A LEA Cloud account is free, but requires registering here.
DSP: The LEA CS64 features an Analog Devices Sigma 96 kHz DSP processor with 32-bit core and sample-rate converters. Each of the four amp channels can have the following DSP processes applied to them:
- Input/Output: Any of the four inputs can be freely routed to any or all outputs, with Primary and Secondary input priority.
- Crossovers: Linkwitz Riley, Butterworth, and Bessel high- and low-pass filters with up to 48 dB/octave slope settings.
- Parametric EQ: Eight parametric EQ bands can be applied with frequency options from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
- Delay: Up to 100 ms of signal delay can be applied to each channel.
- Limiting: A speaker limiter lets you set the output voltage limiting conditions to protect the speakers attached to the amp. VRMS limiting helps prevent overheating while V Peak limiting prevents the speaker from over-exerting.
- Realtime Load Monitoring: The impedance of each connected speaker can be monitored in real time, once there is more than 5 VRMS on the output. The amp automatically tests the impedance of each channel and provides feedback to the WebUI.
- Pilot Tone Monitoring: The amplifier can send an inaudible tone through each output so you can monitor the impedance of the speakers without having to run an audio signal through them.
- Internal Signal Generator: An internal signal generator lets you send an audible signal through an output for testing and verification purposes. Pink noise, white noise, or a sine wave with selectable frequency can be applied.
- Saving & Loading: Amplifier settings for all channel and DSP settings can be saved and loaded as presets.
