Excellent instrument mic for sax!

This is the first purchase I have made of a clip-on mic and in this case for use with a saxophone when playing with amplified instruments in Rock & Blues bands. I used a different brand for years in a big band on my bari sax and have a few observations. First, a saxophone's sound does not come from a consistent place given the physics of the horn. This particular mic has a relatively broad pattern which allows it to function better than I would have expected as the sound-source changes location depending on the note being played. It is not quite so "boomy" when playing the low end and it handles the sound quite well when playing from the high left palm-keys. For an "entry-level" clip-on instrument mic, it performs far better than I expected. I also like the inclusion of a 15' XML extension cable. Make sure you have phantom power (I purchased a phantom power supply for playing when the sound-guy is clueless--since many are-- or when phantom power is unavailable.

Pros: Great sound Directional (cartiod) but not too much so for a sax Even sound throughout sax range

Cons: None
