Features
Overview: The Shure SM series is designed for high quality and consistent performance for live performances and studio recording. The SM7B is a cardioid dynamic microphone that is ideal for vocal use, especially broadcast and audio production. The SM7B is installed on a heavy-duty locking yoke mount, and comes with a foam windscreen, and a large close-talk windscreen.
Cardioid Pickup Pattern: The SM7B has a cardioid polar pattern for maximum gain before feedback, and excellent rejection of off-axis sound. The tailored microphone cartridge is designed for clear reproduction of vocals.
Switches: The rear panel of the SM7B microphone can be removed to expose two 2-way response selection switches. In the default position (left switch up, right switch down), the microphone has a flat response. With both switches down, a bass rolloff is engaged. When both switches are in the up position, a mid-range emphasis, or presence boost, is in effect.
Construction: The SM7B features an internal "air suspension" shock isolation to virtually eliminate the pickup of mechanical noise. It is internally shielded to reject electromagnetic hum and broadband interference from computer monitors. It has a yoke mount with two tightening nuts to lock the mic in place after adjustments are made. The yoke mount has a 5/8" thread. A 5/8"-to-3/8" thread adapter is included for use with a 3/8" boom or stand thread.
Windscreens: A standard foam windscreen is installed on the microphone, held in place by a hook-and-loop strip. For close-talk applications, it is recommended that the larger A7WS close-talk windscreen (supplied) replace the standard windscreen. It offers maximum protection from plosive breath noises, and creates a warmer, more intimate sound.

Excellent mic for vocals and voice overs. The clarity is quite amazing. I use it in my home studio plugged directly into my PreSonus StudioLive AR8C. Then into Logic ProX. Works for me and performs as described.
