Product Research

Features

Overview: The BT8024DVC features a water-resistant poly enclosure that houses a 8" poly woofer with a foam surround. The patented Bass Tube enclosure design eliminates bass standing waves for high accuracy, and superior efficiency.

Dual 4-ohm Voice Coils: This tube features dual 4-ohm voice coils that offer flexibility in wiring. When the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the tube presents a 2-ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the tube presents an 8-ohm mono load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 4-ohm load. Each coil can handle 200 watts RMS, so the combined power handling is 400 watts RMS.

5-Way Binding Posts: The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade lugs, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Installation: Each mounting strap has an attached mounting base that can be secured to your vehicle using the supplied self-tapping screws. Once the mounting bases are installed, the tube is held in place by the mounting straps. For best results, the tube should be mounted facing into a corner, and there should be 2" to 4" between the woofer and the corner into which the woofer is pointing.

Customer Q&A

Q
Will this sub woofer pair with a punch 45 Rockford Fosgate amplifier - circa 1988 ?
billybob  Aug 04, 2024
1 answer
A
So that will depend entirely on what that particular amp is pushing and what your overall goal for sound is. We have advisors who can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 that can help recommend the best sub for your goals.

Q
How do I hook this (dual coil) up with a single output channel?
james  Jul 06, 2024
1 answer
A
Hey James, you would need to wire up those voice coils in parallel, and that will lower the total impedance of this sub to 2-ohm. So as long as your mono channel on the amp is stable at 2-ohm and does not send more than 400w at that 2-ohm impedance then you can easily run it. Below will be a wiring diagram on how to set that up: https://images.crutchfieldonline.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2SVC_4-ohm_mono.jpg

Q
Is this an active or passive subwoofer? Crutchfield needs to clearly state this on their subwoofer info.
sully  Feb 05, 2023

A
Greetings Sully, and thank you for your question. This Bazooka BT8024DVC is a passive subwoofer. My apologies if the website is not clear on that. The overview states the power range 12-400 watts, meaning it needs an amplifier in that range. Also its not listed under our powered subwoofer page, but under subwoofer boxes. I can check into having that updated to Passive subwoofer boxes. Thank you for pointing this out, every little bit helps us do better.

I'm running a amp on mine so i do not think it has a amp.

No it does not. It only needs about 100 watts max amp to sound good as well.
derek  Apr 09, 2018
A
No. It is a passive subwoofer
carlos  Apr 08, 2018
A
No built in amp. Great sounding speaker. But, needs to be separately powered.
