Inputs, Outputs and Controls
Wiring Recommendation
DC Protection: This circuit protects the output of the amplifier against DC voltage. If for some reason DC voltage is detected at the output stage, the amplifier will shut down protecting the speakers from direct current.
Short Circuit Protection: This circuit protects the amplifier from damage due to a short found in the speakers or wiring. If one of the speakers or its wiring comes into contact with ground, the amplifier will shut down.
Thermal Protection: To protect the amplifier circuitry against damage caused by prolonged exposure to high temperatures, a thermal protection circuit is activated if the amplifier reaches an excessively high operating temperature. Once the thermal circuit is activated, the amplifier will shut down to cool off. The amplifier will automatically turn back on once it cools down to a safe operating temperature.
Internal Crossover: The built-in low-pass crossover is adjustable from 40-130Hz and has a slope of 12dB/octave.
Bass Boost: The EL1500 has a 0-12dB bass boost centered at 45Hz.
Optional Remote Bass Control Module: This amplifier includes a jack that will accept the cable from an optional Remote Bass Control Module. When the module is connected, you can adjust the bass boost from a remote location. The Remote Bass Control Module overrides the bass boost on the amplifier and becomes the primary bass adjustment.
Optional AMP Badges: The amplifier comes with a black amp badge. You can purchase different color badges, allowing you to customize the look of your amplifier.
Left Side of the Amplifier:
- Remote: mini-jack for use with the optional Remote Bass Control Module
- Input: gold-plated RCA stereo jacks
- Output: gold-plated RCA stereo jacks
- Level: gain control that allows you to match the input sensitivity of the amplifier to the particular source unit you are using
- X-Over: allows you to adjust the frequency of the crossover from 40-130Hz
- Bass Boost: a rotary control that allows you to set the bass boost applied to the speaker output signal. The bass boost is centered at 45Hz and is adjustable from 0-12dB.
- Power LED: illuminates green when the amplifier is on and receiving power
Right Side of the Amplifier:
- +12 (power): gold-plated set screw terminal that will accept up to 4 gauge wire (requires a 3mm Allen wrench)
- GND (ground): gold-plated set screw terminal that will accept up to 4 gauge wire (requires a 3mm Allen wrench)
- REM (remote turn-on): gold-plated set screw terminal that will accept up to 6 gauge wire (requires a 3mm Allen wrench)
- Speakers: gold-plated set screw terminals that will accept up to 8 gauge wire (requires a 2mm Allen wrench)
- Fuses: four 20-amp blade fuses
Wiring Recommendation: This amplifier uses four 20-amp fuses, so its fuse rating (80-amps total) exceeds that of typical 4 gauge wiring kits, which tend to include a 60-amp fuse. For 80-amp fuse protection, the fuse included with a pre-packaged wiring kit should be replaced with an 80-amp AGU fuse (sold separately).
