The 46L7T102 10" sub features the signature SoloKon™ square polypropylene cone, creating a rigid surface that won't flex and cause distortion at high sound levels. The Santoprene rubber surround stands up to the car environment and keeps the cone on track for maximum clarity and minimal distortion, while the sturdy steel frame resists vibration and provides a solid foundation. This sub handles up to 500 watts RMS, so be sure your amp can give it all the power it needs. The dual 2-ohm voice coils let you wire your speaker for either 1- or 4-ohm total impedance, giving you more wiring options when setting up your system.

Features

Square Design: By making the cone square, Kicker is giving you the most possible cone area (Sd) for a given size baffle, 16% to 20% more area than a conventional round subwoofer. More cone area means the cone moves more air, resulting in louder, deeper bass.

Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 2Ω voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load; when wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.

Cone Material: The square SoloKon design is a unique one-piece construction, using injection molded polypropylene that moves as a lightweight piston, for improved control. A rear cone brace integrates into the cone with a continuous contact perimeter weld, which improves strength and resistance to deformation under pressure.

Surround: The tough, flexible Santoprene rubber surround has a long-throw, positive-roll design, which controls extreme cone excursion and is tear-resistant. The corners of the surround are ribbed to ensure linear cone motion. The surround is stitched to the reinforced cone edge to improve durability.

Terminals: The spring post terminals will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs (but not dual), and bare wire up to 8 gauge.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker subwoofers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speakers very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Sealed Enclosure: A sealed enclosure design gives the smoothest response with increased energy at the lowest frequencies (between 25 and 30 Hz).

Vented Enclosure: A vented enclosure design increases efficiency relative to sealed enclosures.

Minimum Volume: 1.25 ft³ with a 2" x 10½" x 20" slot port

Cutout: The woofer will not mount in a standard enclosure with a round cutout. Instead, the woofer must be mounted in an enclosure with a 9.325" x 9.325" square opening.

What is the ideal amp for this sub? I was looking at getting a 46CXA8001.

The 46CXA8001 is too powerful for the Kicker 46L7T102, Adam. The Kicker 46L7T102 can handle a maximum of 500-watts rms and can be wired to either a 1-ohm or 4-ohm load when using a single subwoofer. Would this sub, fit the Q custom sub box fo 2000 2006 Tahoe?

If you are referring to the Q-Customs factory-fit sub enclosure in the link below for your Tahoe Carlton, the Kicker 46L7102 will not fit. The Q-Customs box can only accept a round type 1 10" subwoofer, meaning a speaker that is designed to work well in a small, sealed enclosure. What is the distance needed in front of the box for clearance how far does the speaker stick out off the baffle?

The subwoofer will sit 1.1" off of the front of the enclosure. The woofer cone has a maximum excursion of 9.2mm. This means that we should have a clearance in front of the subwoofer over 1.46" in order for it to operate properly.
