About the Kicker 48CWRT102

Bob Bihlmayer

Big sound from a small sub

If you're looking for bass for a tight space, Kicker designed their CompRT subs with compact cars, pickup trucks, and ATVs in mind. The low-profile 48CWRT102 10” subwoofer performs just like a full-size sub, but without killing all your cargo space. This high-performance CompRT sub stands less than 3-1/2" tall, so your installation options are wide open. Kicker has redesigned the forced-air cooling system, so this sub will run cooler when you drive it hard (and you know you will).

Made to bring the boom

The 48CWRT102 comes equipped with a rigid injection-molded polypropylene cone that won't flex and cause distortion while you're cranking the bass. Its rubber surround will last through years of heavy use, combining with a special-design back and top plate to give you more excursion (which equals more bass) than other skinny subs.

Made to fit many systems

This sub handles up to 400 watts RMS so make sure you've got a solid amp to power it. You can wire the dual voice coils for either 1- or 4-ohm total impedance, giving you more wiring options when setting up your system. This versatile sub sounds great in sealed or ported enclosures.

Product Research

Features

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 2Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.

Shallow-Mount: Kicker's CompRT series is designed to minimize depth, giving you subwoofer options where standard enclosures don't fit.

All-Weather: Although not marine certified, Kicker describes the CompRT series as weatherproof.

Cooling: Kicker engineers developed a Forced Air Cooling system, using the motor structure to pull air across the voice coils, helping the sub run up to 20% cooler than the previous model.

Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures from 0.4 ft³ to 1.25 ft³.

Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from a given amount of power. Kicker recommends the following ported enclosures:

  • Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.25 ft³ with a 10" x 2" x 20" slot port
  • Maximum Enclosure Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 10" x 2½" x 20" slot port

Customer Q&A

6 questions already asked

Q
What's the best amp for two of these subwoofers? Kicker 48CWRT102
tyler  Feb 01, 2024
1 answer
A
A pair of Kicker CompRT 48CWRT102 10" subwoofers would present a 2-ohm load to your amp when wired in series/parallel and handle an RMS wattage of 800-watts maximum, Tyler. The Pioneer GM-DX971 Mono amplifier in the link below would provide maximum performance and deliver 800-watts RMS into a 2-ohm subwoofer combination! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130GMDX971/Pioneer-GM-DX971.html

Q
If wired as 4ohm, what is the RMS output?
ricardo  Dec 14, 2023
1 answer
A
This will depend on the amplifier that is being used. Subwoofers do not output RMS. Watts RMS is a measurement of power that an amplifier can output and that a subwoofer/speaker can handle as an input. In this situation, we would want an amplifier that can output 400 watts RMS when presented with a 4-ohm impedance. For help with selecting the correct amplifier for your project, please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
What amplifier do you recommend for this ?
isaac  Feb 11, 2023
1 answer
A
The Kicker 46CXA400.1T CX series mono amplifier in the link below is the perfect choice, Isaac. This amp delivers 400-watts into 1-ohm, the perfect amount for a single Kicker 10" CompRT shallow mount subwoofer. Don't forget the Crutchfield 8-gauge amp wiring kit in the second link below, you will need it to install the Kicker amp and you get a discount when purchasing together! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646CX41T/Kicker-46CXA400-1T.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CK8/Crutchfield-CK8.html

Q
Does this speaker require a 1ohm stable amp?
jamie  Jun 25, 2021
2 answers
A
Require, no. It's just an option.
justin  Jun 25, 2021
A
If you are running two in parallel your impedance will result in 1 ohm. I am running two in parallel using a Kicker 46CXA1200.1T in a sealed box with polyfill and it hits HARD!
