Great sound, amazing customer service
Caleb from Plainview, TX on 6/18/2025
2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500
These speakers sound great compared to the stock ones on my 2020 Silverado 3500HD. They add a nice bass and the mids and highs are much crisper. They were relatively easy to install, with the hardest part actually being the dismantling of the door panels (a few clips broke), but that has nothing to do with the speakers. I also installed the rear door speakers from the Kicker 51KSC6704 kit, which fil out the sound The star of the show, however, is the customer service. Before even purchasing a kit, I spoke to Hunter, who walked me through what speakers might be the best fit for my truck, budget, and needs.
Pros: I have to say that the customer service is the best I've ever encountered, bar none. My representative, Hunter, was patient and answered all of my questions about what I wanted, and gave good recommendations. The fact that he sent me a cart with everything I would need was the cherry on top. It shows that he really knows and cares about the topic, enough to help someone who is new to automotive speakers.
Cons: I would like for the instructions to be printed instead of just online. It just makes it easier to get started with the install. It's not a big deal, however, and you can simply print them yourself.

Works awesome for replacement of factory speakers ?? (front doors) on a GMC vehicle without the BOSE system. Great bass, mids and highs separation for a crisp sound. The crossover is easy to configure and highs sound great and makes the BASS ?? thump cleanly.
Pros: Easy configurations and installation. Adapter bracket fits perfectly into the doors and no modifications are necessary when using in GMC Terrain AT4.

Installed in the front doors of a 2013 Tacoma double cab. Sound great powered by a Kicker Key 200.4, sounded decent off of factory power but the amp woke these speakers up. Not thinking about installing a sub anymore. Was able to use the included threaded tweeter mounts in combination with some RTV silicone to securely mount to the Metra tweeter brackets. Just wish the crossover wasn't so big, was difficult to find a place to mount it in the door.
Pros: Sounds great with amp power
Cons: Crossover is bulky

Tweeter mounts are useless
Thomas from Barstow, CA on 12/21/2024
2007 Toyota Tacoma
Can't tell you how they sound since during the test fitting all of the tweeter housings that should screw on to the back of the tweeters were pretty much useless. When I tried testing the fit in any configuration they just fell apart in my hands. So I'm sending them back to Crutchfield and ordered some Infinity Ref 6x9 components for my 07 Tacoma. I was told I could try hot glue or silicone but I live in the Mojave desert and it's get to hot that trick to work during summer. The tweeter and the tweeter housings have threads and should screw together.
Pros: They look pretty in the box.
Cons: A pricey paper weight and now a trip to the UPS store during Xmas just a waste of time.

Easy installation !!
Dirk from Edmond, OK on 12/7/2024
2013 Toyota Tacoma
Installed in a 2013 double cab Tacoma. Hugh difference from decade old factory speakers. Very easy to install, but Crutchfield provided instructions were less than helpful. Used 1 3/4 inch hole bit to cut hole in Metra tweeter mount. Hot glued tweeter in mount. Wire crossover to speaker wires from head unit. Then used crossover to plug directly in to tweeter and mid range. Volume and clarity were vastly improved. Would recommend sound deadening while you are there. Adds a bit of time, but road noise is greatly reduced.
Pros: Quality speakers. Everything you need is provided.
Cons: Crutchfield instructions are not helpful.

Sound quality
Alan from Fresno CA on 11/25/2024

I am pushing with a kicker iq500.2 amp that puts 125w to each speaker. I had a high dollar system in the late 90 with 2 midrange and 2 tweets per door. The KS690 speakers with amp sounds as loud and cleaner than my system from the 90s. I added a TB10 kicker bass tube running off 500 watt cheap stinger amp. I am not breaking any loud sound records but the quality of sound is epic.

A little step up from factory
Devon from Allenwood, PA on 10/15/2024
2010 Chevrolet Camaro
Decent speakers. Installed on a 2010 Camaro with the Boston sound system. Did a little test with the little amp boxes and they didn't perform (possibly due to my factory amp) so I installed without the boxes. The highs are better than the factory speakers but the mids are about the same as factory. Might be different with a better head unit/amp. Right now it's factory head unit. Also cruchfield recommended the install kit. You do not need it with this set of speakers. It comes with the speaker housings so that was a waste of money and the instructions were pointless. Shame on cruchfield for not knowing this but they made a little extra money. ????
Pros: Comes with the universal housings Looks to be built well
Cons: Poor instructions on how to assemble speakers and what parts to use. A little common sense and you'll be alright but I had to do some trial and error. Would have saved a bunch of time with better instructions.

Abraham from Kailua Kona, HI on 10/4/2024
2022 Chevrolet Equinox
These are great high quality speakers. Superb construction with remarkable sound. I feel bathed in bass as opposed to other types of speakers that shower you with bass. I highly recommend buying these here for all the right reasons. Be sure to use some solid sound deadening mat on the door inners because they will rattle you car. I recommend medium loc tight if installing the tweeter into the speaker itself. Everything was a perfect fit for a 2022 Chevy Equinox. Thanks to the happy helpful staff I was able to get all my questions answered quick and accurately. Highly trusted for any level of outfitting.
Pros: Easy Quick Accurate Reliable Marine grade Powerful Responsive Clairity
Cons: No loc tight for the center screws into the voice coil / magnet. I need ear plugs because they just keep going up and up clearly.

I bought these for a 2023 Nissan NP300 truck for replacement of the cheap factory 6x9 speakers. My first thought was to power them with an amplifier, but, just with the OEM head unit it's a huge difference in lower bass. Now I'm thinking running off an amp. Very nice door speakers that I've ever heard for this range of price. I have to mention that I did some door insulation treatment.
Pros: Great Lows.

My end goal was to power them with an amplifier, but I didn't have the option initially at first, I don't think there was a huge difference in bass only the highs sounded much better. But now I have them running off an amp and these are the greatest door speakers I've ever heard. The bass sounds like it's coming from an eight-inch sub. It's really crazy.

For as long as I've known Kicker, I've always associates them with loud bass... So imagine my disappointment when I installed these and the bass is less than the factory speakers had! I'm feeding them 150W and it's just sad! The tweeters sound good but overall I would not recommend wasting money on these - get a good 6.5" setup that sounds better! Great upgrade for 2015 f150 xlt. The stock speakers had literally crumbled. The 6x9 speakers fit perfect with the brackets provided in the box, though Crutchfield did also provide a set of mounting brackets also. The sound is good as is but will sound better with an amp to drive the 6x9 harder to get more bass out of them. The stock stereo simply doesn't push out enough power for them to be pushed to their potential. The tweeters sound great as well but note, the tweeters will need a custom bracket. None of the provided mounts in the box will hold the tweeters in the factory position. I used a piece of aluminum wire between the screws to hold it in place. Over-all they are a nice set of speakers and a welcomed upgrade over stock. Would buy again.
Pros: Great sound Good parts for install Simple to install
Cons: If installing in f150, will need to come up with a bracket option for the tweeters.

Factory speakers sound decent for the first year or two, but they're designed to slowly go bad. Sometimes you barely notice the decline until it's just awful to listen to. These speakers basically take you back to the new factory sound. It's okay, but no wow factor. I'm using a factory head so maybe that's it. It sounds good, not great. And I just had it installed today and one of the tweeters already crackling. I'll take a closer look tomorrow with some different songs from different inputs. but that's a scary thought to go to bed with tonight.

Great Speakers on my 2016 F150
Israel from Fort Worth, TX on 8/21/2022
I love the sound of these spearkers. They have a warm rich sound and clarity. I installed them on my 2016 F150. Kicker provides solid installation hardware in the box like the screws, speaker mounts, and wiring if you dont mind cutting and splicing but Crutchfield sends adapter cables and mounts free with the speakers. You will need an amp and/or aftermarket stereo for these spearkers to show their potential because there is not much difference in sound with oem stereo power from the f150.
Pros: Great warm sound. Easy and direct install for the woofers. High quality speakers and hardware.
Cons: The tweeters are bigger than the oem and will need modifications to isntall. Will need amp to get louder bigger sound otherwise its just clear full sound but not much difference in power from factory

First off, the components sound awesome with just my Kenwood receiver. The silk dome tweeters have smooth highs and the 6x9 woofers have good solid bass response. They fit in the front doors of my 2006 Tacoma double cab nicely. Just remember to use a speaker foam kit so that you'll get a nice solid bass response and that the sound will not leak all over the place. Use these regardless of what brand or size speakers go in your doors.

These speakers sound clean at higher than reasonable volume, when using a 45W RMS amplifier (Alpine KTP445). These would get a 5-star review, were it not for instructions on mounting them as a coaxial speaker, which are less than completely clear. The only other improvement I'd make would be adding spade connectors to the input wires to the crossover. All the others wires have them, which helps avoid polarity issues.
Pros: Loud and clear with a small amp Solid construction
Cons: Install could be made easier with better instructions

Kicker KSS690

Picked these as part of an 8-speaker system to replace factory setup. Used only the woofers, as they are acting as a subwoofer (I didn't want to put an enclosure in the trunk, preferring to keep using the factory rear deck location - although I am considering building enclosures around the Kickers). Being driven by an Alpine 5-channel amp, 300 watts total to the pair, produces good tunable bass for classic rock, bluegrass, blues, and more.
Pros: Reasonable substitute for actual subwoofer, just left off the tweeters and crossovers. Good bass response for the size.
Cons: None.

Less Than Impressed

Not what I expected, actually not that much better that the OEM speakers. Possibly need to drive them a little harder, they might be better with something more than the stock radio. I have tried them with the crossover in all three positions, not much difference, pretty subtle. One issue might be is that they are installed in the coaxial configuration but, the in dash tweet install on a 2018 Taco is not as technically simple. This would be a component type install and might be better. If you are not really wanting to take your dash apart and get pretty deep in to an install, a plug and play is a better way to go on the 3rd Gen Tacomas. Just my 2 cents.

These speakers make all the difference using the factory head unit. They are much brighter and cleaner sounding. Well worth the cost. I should have upgraded sooner!

Kicker Never Fails.
Crutchfield customer from Huron, CA on 11/23/2020
I wanted to step up from Kicker's CS Series speakers to the new and improved KS Series. These speakers handle any frequency like a champ. I have them at 150hz HPF and wow do they bang. Mids are very precise and deep. Highs are excepcional and sound very natural.
Pros: Silk Tweeter Slim Design Very Powerful Mids are Precise and Deep
Cons: Not the cheapest component speakers Amplifier is strongly recommended

2010 Tacoma X-Runner
Crutchfield customer from American Canyon, CA on 11/4/2020
Installed in a 2010 Tacoma X-Runner front doors to replace kicker CS series 6x9's. I have them powered by a Kenwood Excelon-XR901-5, accompanied by a Kicker L7QB8 sub. Definitely an improvement overall to my simple system.
Pros: Efficient, louder at lower volume levels. Easy to install in my Tacoma. Pleasant to listen to at high volume.
Cons: Can't handle the same amount of bass as the Kicker CS series 6x9's.

Great sound at a reasonable price

2016 Ford Explorer
I got these speakers for my Explorer because a local shop wanted to charge me over $1000 to install mid to low grade coax speakers in the doors only. I spent a day and installed these as well as the 3.5" KSC in the other 3 locations. The sound clarity is really great. These speakers offered the greatest sensitivity and the widest frequency range at this price point and they delivered. I never thought I would be a fan of Kicker speakers, but I am.
Pros: Great frequency range Reasonably priced Sound great Include mounting bracket and all hardware
