Dual voice coils for wiring flexibility

The sub's dual 4-ohm voice coils give you more wiring options when setting up your system. The sub's cool-looking black finish highlights the potent low end you'll hear and feel.

Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible.

Product Research

Features

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation. The boot is removable if needed for tight installations.

Break-in Period: The high-performance suspension system makes the speaker very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately 2 weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures from 1.6 ft³ to 4.6 ft³.

Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. Kicker recommends ported enclosures in the following range:

  • Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 20" slot port
  • Maximum Enclosure Volume: 2.25 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 3" x 20-1/2" slot port

Q
What size MDF wood would be recommended for a box for two of these, 5/8 or 3/4?
[ PATRICK  Feb 28, 2022 ]
2 answers
A
You want to use 3/4 MDF. And internal brace if using 2 or more woofers. 1/2 or 5/8 can flex and color the music with unwanted harmonics
[ JASON  Mar 04, 2022 ]
A
three-quarter would be way more expensive but sound better the speakers can hit pretty hard
[ MICHAEL  Feb 28, 2022 ]
Q
I have a 5 channel alpine pdr-v75 amp (350w rms @ 2 ohm). with this sub being 400w rms, would it be too underpowered? Or is the 50W difference not a big deal?
[ Bennie  Nov 17, 2021 ]
2 answers
A
You should be able to parallel that sub and make it 2 ohm to ur sub channel on your amp. I don't think you would notice a difference of 50 watts. I run my comp be subs, both on dedicated class D 1ohm stable kicker amps and it about blows the windshield out.
[ Paul  Nov 19, 2021 ]
A
When it comes to bass you always want to have more watts available instead of under it will give your bass the kick sound your looking for
