You can adjust the multi-color LEDs to suit your boat or your mood, so they'll add a lot to your evening cruise. The speakers come with charcoal and white grilles, so they'll look great in any boat.

Choose the lighting look you want

You can access twenty color options as well as 19 dynamic modes using the optional KMLC remote. The KMLC gives you multi-function control of the LED lighting by managing color and dynamic mode functions, including adjustable brightness, fade, speed/strobe, and auto save.

Rugged and versatile

These speakers are tough enough for marine duty, but they're gentle on your ears. The durable poly woofers and balanced dome titanium tweeters cut through wind, waves, and engine roar to deliver great sound without annoying harshness. Whether you're mounting them in a bulkhead, or installing them in a set of Kicker's custom enclosures, these Kickers will make your day on the water just a little bit better than it was already.

Made for boating

Designed for life on the water, these powerful 4-ohm speakers feature sealed motors, rubber cone surrounds, and locking terminal covers to keep spray away from the internal componentry. They'll also stand up to harsh sunlight, thanks to special UV treatments on the cones, surrounds, baskets, and grilles. Whether you're on fresh water or salt, these speakers will give you years of outstanding performance.

Product Research

Marine-Ready: The Kicker KM series marine coaxial speakers are engineered to meet or exceed ASTM B117 Salt Fog (200 hour test) and ASTM G154 Accelerated UV (400 hour test) industry standards. The speakers feature sealed motors, cones, and locking wire terminal covers.

LEDs: There are multi colored LEDs behind the tweeter casing, to create a glow on the woofer cone. Depending on what combination of the three LED wires is connected, they can light red, green, blue, lime green, magenta, aquamarine, or blue-white. A wireless remote (item number 20641KMLC, sold separately) is also available to control the backlighting. A 12 volt power supply is needed to turn the LEDs on.

Size: The 45KM654Ls fit into standard 6-1/2 and 6-3/4 openings (standard car speaker sizes). The frame is bigger than a typical 6-1/2 and the screw hole pattern matches 6-3/4 speakers. Because of the significant mounting height, they won't fit in most car applications.

Grilles: Two pair of grilles are included, charcoal and white.

Terminal Cover: The speakers feature splash and spray resistant, locking terminal covers. These covers have water-resistant gaskets to prevent terminal corrosion and electrical shorting.

Customer Q&A

What are the color choices for the background lighting ?
steve c  Apr 19, 2024
1 answer
Greetings Stephen. That a great question. The speakers by themselves are limited to 7 possible colors found in the manual. To get the 20 possible colors, you would need to add their wireless controller, and there is no actual list of colors. Kicker does have a You Tube video demonstrating the LED lights and about 9 minutes in, you would see all the possible colors.

What is the easiest way to tap all of the RBG wires together?
andrew  Nov 08, 2022
1 answer
If you need to connect multiple RGB wire connections to an LED controller Andrew, with many wires that can prove difficult. You can either use something like a larger crimp connection like the marine rated crimps in the link below to step down multiple wires to a single smaller wire. You can also use something like the Wet Sounds RGB signal amplifier to spread out the connection points and power multiple lights in the second link below.

Are these compatible for a 1983 CJ7 and are they be black?
laura n.  Sep 19, 2022
1 answer
These won't fit in any factory location on your 83 CJ7 Laura, you would have to custom mount them. If you are looking for a solid corner dash replacement we do have some Kicker 5 1/4" speakers that will fit though they are not marine rated. These Kicker 47KSC504 speakers in the first link below are a fit on the corner dash. If you do want something that is marine rated and comes with a black grill, check out the Polk DB 5 1/4"s in the second link below. These also fit your corner dash speaker location and are marine rated for extra protection.

Do I have to wire up the led lights for the speakers to work or can I just use the speakers until I get the wires run?
steve  Mar 03, 2022
4 answers
The speakers will work on their own without the LEDs wired in. They have an LED harness and traditional speaker hookup harness independent of each other.
christopher  Mar 03, 2022
The speakers will work without wiring the led lights. Having said that, since you are running the wires, you might as well run the all-in-one. Works great. Here's what I used: Crutchfield CMRGBS500
mike  Mar 03, 2022
You can use the speakers without the LEDs. Two separate sets of wires one for speakers and one for LEDs
frank  Mar 03, 2022
Lights do not have to be hooked up for speakers to work
larry todd  Mar 03, 2022
Do I have to wire the LEDs to their own power/ ground, or can I run them through the 12v and ground for the speaker? If so, can I use the remote on them or do I need to have the receiver installed as well?
cole s  Jun 28, 2021

You'll need separate wires as you cannot mix the signals. Kicker and I believe Crutchfield sell wire for this with both speaker and RGB wires. JL sells it too but way too expensive
marc  Jun 29, 2021
Yes you wire them separate. I use the Fusion RGB control and it worked great
larry todd  Jun 29, 2021
Yes, wire them independent of the speaker positive/negative, preferably using the KMLC controller ($39.95). It's worth every penny and gives you the ability to completely control the lighting. Check out the owner's manual for the KMLC for the details. Only two wires to power it, one to ground and one to switch-controlled 12v power, like an 12v accessory switch. Run all your RGBs back to it and splice them together. I also highly recommend using Crutchfield's 6 conductor marine grade wire so that you only have to run one line to each speaker. You can get it by the foot or in a 50 foot roll. Also worth every penny. Used this set up to wire a 10" sub and four 6.5" speakers with LEDs, works awesome!
chris  Jun 29, 2021
Do I have to wire the LEDs to their own power/ ground, or can I run them through the 12v and ground for the speaker? If so, can I use the remote on them or do I need to have the receiver installed as well?
cole s  Jun 28, 2021

I ran 2 sets of wires. 1 to the receiver for the audio, nothing difficult, and the other was a 5 different color wire harness I made to the house battery. There is a fuse cartridge that the harness runs through to the battery and you turn the lights on with the included remote.
dustin  Jul 15, 2021
Yes they must have their own wiring. You can use 12v/ground to make them one of 7 colors. Or wire them with the remote and controller to choose from 15 colors anytime. The speaker itself does not use 12v as it must be connected to the head unit or an amplifier.
michael  Jul 13, 2021
Forgot to mention - The remote will come with a 14" Wiring harness with in-line RF Receiver that controls the rgb, If any of this sounds complicated, it's not. Very plug and play, no set up involved.
james  Jul 13, 2021
You will need a wire like Wet Sounds WWX-SPK/RGB Combo (what I used) Wet Wire marine 6-conductor wire (12-gauge speaker wire and 22-gauge RGB LED wire) for speakers and lighting. Not so much their own power and ground as it is connectivity for color and light sequence (making the remote work).
james  Jul 13, 2021
If I don't purchase the remote, can I set them to blue and leave it that way?
paul  Apr 09, 2021
2 answers
Yes. You will only connect two of the wires instead of all 4 when you use the remote.
james richard  Apr 09, 2021
Yes you can set them to either red, blue or green
william  Apr 09, 2021
Do these come with the remote and also can you wire 8 up and all the light sync together?
kelsey  Mar 24, 2021
4 answers
I believe the remote was purchased separately. Yes, they will all sync together automatically.
james  Mar 24, 2021
Yes includes remote. There is a receiver device also included that gets wired into the system that controls all speakers at once. I have been very happy with the speakers and a great upgrade to what I had.
michael  Mar 24, 2021
You will need to purchase your own 12v RGB controller. Once all connected to the controller all 8 speakers will light up in sync. I installed 4 in a boat with no issues.
tyler  Mar 24, 2021
The remote controller is sold separately. Yes you can wire 8 together and sync all the lights. 4 wire RGB/ground design.
michael  Mar 24, 2021

what amp would match well with these speakers?
dago  Sep 20, 2020
1 answer
I used a Fusion 5 channel amp that works really well. I believe it was the SG-DA51600. I did spend some time tweaking the outputs to make sure I had the right gain. The Crutchfield tech support were great in helping me with it.
james richard  Sep 20, 2020
Will these speakers sound alright powered with a JVC KD-X37MBS head unit and no external amp?
dominic  Jun 09, 2020
4 answers
I'm sure they will but would sound much better with one
aaron  Jun 10, 2020
Yes, but... In my opinion it really depends on the application, install height and boat layout (basically where is the sound going), if it's in a pontoon where there is a lot of open air, wind and water noise you may want to add an amp later. Good news is, you can always add an amp later ;) The speakers themselves will handle whatever you throw at them - they're awesome!
james  Jun 10, 2020
Dominic, I'm not familiar with that radio but I'm using a Kicker 46KMC4 which is rated at 25 watts RMS x 4/50 peak x 4 channels at 4 ohms and they sound great
frank  Jun 09, 2020
I've got these speakers, I'd recommend an amp. Whatever you do, don't buy the led remote control, I had two different ones sent out to me, both stopped working within days, which is really unfortunate since it would be really nice to have that work the way its supposed to.
matt  Jun 09, 2020
Will these fit in the Rockford Fosgate 6.5" pods in the floor area of a Polaris General?

Yes with the optional remote, which I would suggest otherwise you'll need to add a toggle switch when you hard wire the power downfall to that will be only able to choose one color.
