Great, speakers IF!

I installed this set into my 2007 C6 Z06 Corvette, being run by an AudioControl ACM4-300 active- each speaker had it's own dedicated channel- controlled by a 8 channel DSP, also a JL Audio Stealthbox sub, Pioneer HU, bla bla, and made my own 3D printed tweeter mounts so I can mount them in the a-pillars for better imaging About the speakers: I started with the factory xover points and to put it politely, can be improved . These are an 8" midbass with a 1" tweeter so there may be some compromises in overall sound quality. I lowered the tweet to 2200HZ/24DB slope and cut the mid off at the same point (2200HZ)/24db slope and it really tightened up the sound and required a lot less EQ to get it somewhere. You will have to play with the xover points and tune with the DSP- the speakers themselves have a pleasant quality to them but you will need to tame them. If you are looking at these, I would recommend them for the soft dome, and shallow mount but get a DSP and make sure you understand how to tune. In all fairness, any of these categories of speakers with skimpy inline passive xovers is going to suffer from a similar malady- they are 1st and foremost about being easy to install, and 2nd about price point, so a lack of a decent xover in the box is a cost cutting measure. I consider them a 75% perfected solution, just needs better tuning from Morel or you can DIY.
Pros: Super slim mids, WOW! midbass, treble fairly smooth ,
Cons: You need control over the xover points and a decent EQ or a full on DSP to get them to sound right. Made to fit and at a price point so cheap, frankly improperly selected xovers.
