Great upgrade from factory installed speakers. Great clarity with a little sacrifice of Base.
Pros: Great clarity
Cons: Lost a little base. But clarity is worth it.

Way more pleasant than Kicker CS series
Eric from Alamo, CA on 3/29/2025
2025 Subaru Crosstrek
Replaced all speakers in a 2025 Crosstrek. Started off with Kicker KS series in the front dash, and initially paired those with Kicker CS 6x9s in the front doors. Was NOT happy with how that pairing sounded, so I returned the CS speakers with these Morel 6x9s. The Morels sound so much cleaner, gentler, softer and more natural, and actually blend quite well with the KS dash speakers. Ended up buying Morel maximo 6.5s for the rear doors to fill out the sound, and I'm finally happy with how music sounds in my new car. Give Morels a chance and you'll be glad you did.

Awesome with factory radio
jason from HOPE, MI on 12/29/2024
2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
These speakers sound amazing in my 2023 Silverado rst with non bose factory radio. I put them in the front doors along with sound deadening and they are a huge upgrade. I also put the Kicker ksc 2.75 in the dash at the same time, well worth the time and money! With proper tools the job is ridiculously easy. The added accessories and instructions that Crutchfield provides are good quality and fit well. Highly recommend this for my fellow Silverado owners who aren't happy with the factory sound.
Pros: Clean, clear sound. Good crisp bass Tweeter is loud without being harsh
Cons: None so far

Truly Exceptional in every way
Chris from TALLAHASSEE, FL on 2/20/2024
2018 Nissan Altima
If this is entry level, I can't wait for the Ultras to be back in stock! I'm from the old school when MB Quart ruled the SQ arena. I ran them exclusively and have been chasing that extreme level of SQ since. Granted, these Coax 69 aren't the level of the old pure made in Germany Quarts, but man, for entry level, I'm amazed! I've tried Focal (way too bright and tinny) and Hertz (not spectacular) but Morel... New fan! Running JBL SQ components up front (which sound KILLER) and these guys are a perfect compliment. I absolutely love it he warmth of Morel. The highs are crisp and sweet, not piercing. The reproduction of vocals and nuances is beautiful. They have such a sweet, pleasing sound that makes you wanna sit in your car all night. Firing up The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds is pure bliss. I will say though, I'm skeptical of them handling 100 RMS. The JBLs will, I don't believe these guys will. But that's fine, 70-80 watts is plenty. My only gripe is that the terminal is flimsy. Aside from that, they're flawless. Any negative rating here is either someone that doesn't know what they're doing, or they just want screaming loud, regardless of the SQ. If you're after true SQ, you CAN'T go wrong here. For the price ... C'mon, they're a steal!
Pros: Very warm. Rich, detailed vocals. Instruments produced with beautiful pricison. Price!
Cons: Flimsy terminals. Highly doubt they'll take the 100 watts RMS.

Great replacement speakers for 2024 Subaru Crosstrek
Peter from Gilbert, AZ on 2/14/2024
2023 Subaru Crosstrek
I had to replace the awful speakers in a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. The Morel Maximo's I bought from Crutchfield sound awesome and I hope to save you time and money if you keep reading. I tried Polk DB+, Alpine R and S series (coaxial and component), and Kicker KS series from another "store." I kept going back to the Morel's. All I know is that I wanted a soft dome tweeter on the speaker but was willing to try anything if I liked it. I added the Morel Maximo 6x9 to the front doors and the 6.5's to the rear doors. The rear doors do sound better but there is still no "umph" to them from the stock unit. A amp will likely be added in the future. I love music and mostly listen to hard rock, classic rock and metal and maybe some Waylon. The others speakers sounded fine at low volumes, but I couldn't turn them up without my ears hurting. I turned off all the artificial sound enhancements from the stock head unit and used the equalizer to tweak the sound. On the other speakers, I either had to turn the bass all the way up or turn the treble all the way down and still wasn't pleased. The Morels offer me some flexibility to fine tune what my ears like - AND I can crank up the volume LOUD without my ears hurting or the speakers crackling, etc. The bass was loud and smooth and the treble was nice. I went with the Kicker KS 3.5 speakers in the dash and they blended with the Morel's.
Pros: Sound is great and can turn up to loud volumes without distortion!

Best speakers I've tried.
James from Newport News, VA on 11/26/2022
2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
I've been playing around with door speakers for my 19 Silverado. I have to say this is the overall best value. It definitely outperforms the JL audio C2 in my opinion and is much cheaper. The speaker is well built and they can handle to power from the JL rd 4channel amp. No distortion or high shrills. The only speaker that I've tried that may be better is the infinity Kappa and I can't say that for sure. Buy this speaker you will be pleased. I listen to a lot of rap and r&b. I do pivot to other genres at times and every time I am happy with the sound.
Pros: Clear and can handle some power
Cons: I could've saved money by purchasing these speakers first.

While I was skeptical as I heard great things about these speakers I was hesitant to purchase them. These are entry-level speakers of the brand. I was blown away by the sound tried them as just replacement speakers but they sounded so good I had to add an amplifier and what a world of difference.
Pros: sound great and with the installation, gear was super easy to install.
Cons: Installed in Nissan had to dismantle almost the entire back dash to install.

Fits Sentra SV! Great bass on stock HU
Juan Cruz from BAY SHORE, NY on 6/10/2022
2016 Nissan Sentra
Solid bass from stock HU on Nissan Sentra SV. You must drill holes for this car in the rear deck with about a 1/8" drill bit. Line up the speakers and then mark for your holes. Everything was going well however the heads on the screws provided are too small and slip through the holes on the speakers. I was lucky I had the SPHKC Speaker Installation Kit because I used the included speed nuts to act as washers for the included. Crutchfield is WRONG, these do fit the 2016 Nissan Sentra SV no problem! All you have to do is drill new holes which you already have to do with speakers that Crutchfield says do fit. I swear their measurements are off for this vehicle in particular and I hope they revisit this vehicle and retest it.
Pros: Good bass in rear deck with stock HU, two way is all you need in rear deck, solid construction,
Cons: Terrible sized screws

Incredible!
Evan from Louisville, KY on 4/13/2022

I had originally picked up 4 Alpine S-S69s a month ago. They were okay. There was a lot of sibilance. I never really figured out what it was from. I'm also new to car audio, and just figured that's what people meant by them sounding bright. Anyways, I got these because most of the reviews around the internet claimed Morel to be on the warmer side. I'd agree with that. They handle pretty much any genre nicely. Not piercing at all. The included wiring harness fit insanely well on these speakers. On the Alpines, they were a bit loose. These speakers still have a little sibilance. I will definitely have to look into that, but nothing compared to the Alpines. I mostly listen to EDM. EDM on the Alpines sounded horrible. It was heavily pronouncing the S every other word. It was always unbearable. I found myself skipping songs instead of listening to them all the way through. Not ideal. My whole reasoning in upgrading was to enjoy my music. These are a no brainer. The bass hits nicer then the Alpines. I think what's even more impressive, is the fact I'm only running 45 RMS. It gets just as loud as the Alpines, but sounds better, with more bass, and less sibilance. The Alpines are still really good, just nothing compared to these. Just not what I was looking for. I'm definitely all over the place with this review. Just get them!! What's the worst, you'll have to return? Sucks I can't return the Alpines. I like these so much, I'm going to put the included stickers on my cars window ??
Pros: Incredible for the price. It's said that on another retailer, some people were getting them for $30. That's insane for how they sound.
Cons: I didn't discover these before buying another set. Bought the set from a 3rd party that won't allow me to return. They are only a month old.

2004 Lexus GX470
Used these to replace the woofer in my nice, but otherwise blown, factory non-nav speakers in my GX470. Surprisingly, the non-nav separates are some of the best sounding factory speakers I've ever had (really good low range). I wanted to make sure to keep at least the same amount of low range I had originally, and these met or exceeded that low end. Whether they're better than the originals or not is hard to say because, again, the originals sounded surprisingly good. That being said, I'm really happy with the sound these produce for this application.

Replaced pioneer d series 80 watt rms speakers with these when I saw them on sale. I love the pioneers, so I was skeptical. These blew my pioneers away. Low end is comparable, but mids are much clearer and they are 100 watts, so the match better with alpines I have in front. I was happy with the pioneers, but these Morels are fantastic.

I bought these knowing Morel had a really good reputation but figured being their low end line I didn't expect a whole lot. These were ordered with the intent of installing them in the rear doors of my 2016 Ram Crew Cab as rear fill. They definitely surpassed my expectations as to how they sound. Hooked up to a Zapco ST-4sq amplifier and a partially treated door these things have a respectable amount of clean mid bass and the highs are not nearly as harsh as I'd expect for the price point. In my opinion if your looking to get a good sounding speaker in (what I consider a low price point) this is definitely one to look at. I'll also say it has me seriously looking at Morel for a planned build in my Jaguar XJR.
Pros: Price for Performance Feels well built
Cons: I'm having a hard time thinking of any.

craig from Rochester, NY on 4/27/2019

Possibly the best 6 x 9 speaker I have owned. The sound is balanced across the entire spectrum. They need a little power to make them really shine. Installed in 2019 Subaru Impreza sedan with 65 watt per channel RF amp. Pleasant to listen to at moderate volume. The sound remains clean at increased levels. My ears give out at approx 40% volume level and music is still playing with no distortion. Plenty of bass for my needs. I have been enjoying mostly acoustic jazz, prog rock ,orchestral and an ecclectic collection for over 45 years. Source for this review is a digital music had drive. If you have a subwoofer these speakers will handle the midrange and highs. Tweeter is smooth. Not brassy or harsh. The sale price was worth the money.
Pros: clean an balanced smooth sound. Qualiity materials and engineering.

I has installed a Morel Maximo 6 1/2" component speakers in front a Morel Maximo 6x9s in the rear of my Nissan Sentra 2017 connected to a Pioneer GM-D8601 and Pioneer GM-D8604 amps to the factory radio using a Clarion EQS-755 preamp, and a Kicker 43CWR122 subwoofer, the sound is out of this world, very clean and natural sound without distortion. Just using head unit power. Good upgrade over stock junk speakers in terms of sound quality but I can't expect a revelation on low power. Bass response is better, but mid range is where it really shines to my ears. I inherited a pair of old 60's audiophile speakers at home, and have been listening to a lot of vinyl, so where I used to value really crisp clear highs that's not a sound I like anymore. I appreciate how warm these sound and no matter how much you crank the treble the tweeter still sounds rich without getting piercing. I might upgrade to the component set just because my speaker location is low and sometimes it sounds like all of the music is coming from below you. But again, without some sort of amp I can hardly complain. It still sounds like what a good factory system should sound like. And for the price, it's hard to beat.
Pros: Warm tone Good sound from low power
