Features

High Power/High Current Design: An unusual feature of the MPS 2.150 Limited is the option to select the voltage rail design. This optimizes the power output based on the impedance load, helping keep the amplifier within the safe operating temperature range. When installing the amp, choose high power mode when driving a 4-ohm load or high current mode when driving a 2-ohm load or bridging the amp (into a 4-ohm load). The voltage rail design is changed by moving two fuses behind a removable panel on the bottom of the amp.

Note: These fuses serve only to set the voltage rail design, they do not protect the entire amp from a current spike.

Inputs: The RCA inputs will accommodate preamp or speaker level signals, including many factory systems. Without resorting to line output converters, you can directly connect many factory radios to the amplifier without creating any noise or compatibility issues.

Note: Morel's MPS-HL speaker to RCA adapter (sold separately) is useful when connecting the amplifier to the source unit's speaker level outputs.

Mounting: The mounting flanges on the amp's end-caps are removable, offering additional mounting options. The flanges can be turned around so the mounting screws are under the amp. (In this configuration the flanges would be mounted first, after careful measurement, then the amp mounted to the flanges.) The flanges can also be moved to the top, so the amp can be mounted under a shelf without being inverted.

Controls:

  • Input Level: the two channels have independent input level controls; labeled min/max, the voltage range depends on how the input voltage switch is set (high/low)
  • Turn On Mode: three position switch to set how the amp is turned on; Remote (+12 volts on the remote terminal), Signal (senses an input signal voltage), Offset (reads a DC offset in the input signal; typically only used when "Remote" isn't an option and the "Signal" setting doesn't work reliably)
  • Input Voltage:
    • Low: 200mV-4V; typically used with line level outputs from an after-market source
    • High: 400mV-8V; typically used with speaker level outputs

Connections

  • Signal Inputs: the amplifier has one pair RCA jack inputs; accept preamp or speaker level signals
  • Speaker Outputs: two pair of set screw terminals; accept up to 10-gauge wire
  • Remote Turn-On: set screw terminal; accepts up to 10-gauge wire
  • Power and Ground: set screw terminals; accept up to 4-gauge wire; 8-gauge minimum recommended by Morel
Note: The Amplifier is not equipped with a fuse. An external 40-amp fuse must be installed on the power wire near the battery. If a wiring kit is used which includes a fuse with a value other than 40 amps, the original should be replaced with a 40-amp fuse.
