Take the uncertainty out of backing up with Brandmotion's 9002-7611 backup camera. Connected to your aftermarket car stereo, this camera offers an ultra-wide 170º horizontal view, and features two infrared lights that give you a clear view in complete darkness, great news if you're backing into a tight spot at night.

You can mount the camera on your license plate or on any flat surface on your vehicle. The included 18.5-foot video cable runs from the rear of your vehicle to the front, using a composite video (RCA) connection that works with just about any car stereo with a backup camera input. The camera gives you options for parking grid lines and reverse image.

Installing this camera yourself? Here's what you should know.

What does it do? Unless otherwise noted, a backup camera is only intended for use backing up your vehicle. (If you require a front-view or constant rear-view camera, check for that capability.)

What tools and supplies will I need? A panel tool, a wire cutter/stripper, a soldering iron, and a rosin-core solder with heat shrink tubing are recommended, along with whatever tools are needed to remove the radio from the dash.

How much wiring is required? Wiring instructions vary from camera to camera. Some cameras have power wiring that can only be connected near the radio. Others let you power the camera at compatible reverse lights. In all cases, the camera must be wired for power and ground, the camera's video output must be connected to the radio/monitor, and the radio/monitor must be connected to a reverse trigger in your vehicle. Some radio replacement interfaces supply a reverse trigger wire for the radio -- using that wire to power your camera will damage the interface.

Will the included video cable be long enough? You'll need to route the camera's video cable from its mounting location outside your vehicle into your vehicle's cabin and all the way to the screen in the dash. This often requires drilling a small hole in your vehicle or filing some metal and or plastic. You'll also need to estimate the length of cable needed to run from the camera to the dash, which will not be a straight shot. Each camera's cable length is listed.

Backup Camera: The Brandmotion 9002-7611 is a universal backup camera that can be added to almost any vehicle with an aftermarket receiver that features an integrated video monitor and composite video camera input. The 9002-7611 backup camera includes an integrated license plate mounting bracket and an optional surface-mount bracket.

Note: The Brandmotion 9002-7611 is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

CMOS Image Sensor: The 9002-7611 backup camera is equipped with a highly sensitive color CMOS image sensor that can provide a 480p resolution video signal.

Wide Viewing Angle: The 9002-7611 backup camera offers a wide 170° (H) x 120° (V) field of view.

Infrared (IR): The Brandmotion backup camera features built-in infrared (IR) LEDs for improved nighttime and low-light visibility (0 Lux).

Waterproof (IP67): The 9002-7611 features a waterproof (IP67) housing to protect it from the elements.

Selectable Mirror/Non-Mirror Image: By default, the backup camera will display a "mirror" image for rear-view use. If using the camera as a front camera, connect the two bare-ended white wires attached to the camera cable to get a non-mirror image.

Parking Guidelines: The backup camera provides parking assist lines on the screen of your aftermarket display monitor. These parking lines are there to assist you when backing up into a parking space. To remove the parking guidelines, connect the two bare-ended green wires attached to the camera cable.

Composite Video Output: The Brandmotion backup camera is fitted with a composite video connector (RCA) which makes it compatible with virtually any in-dash receiver with integrated video monitor and a composite video camera input. The total length of the composite video cable is approximately 26'.

License Plate Mount: The 9002-7611 features an integrated mounting bracket that is designed to use your vehicle's existing license plate mounting equipment. The integrated bracket is designed to be mounted behind the license plate so that only the camera is visible. Once the camera and bracket are mounted, you can position the camera forward or angle it down. The mounting hole spacing of the license plate bracket is roughly 6.66" to 7.36" apart.

Note: The Brandmotion 9002-7611 is designed to work best on vehicles that have a license plate located at the center and above the rear bumper. If your vehicle has a plate location that is offset to the left side, right side or your plate is located under the bumper, then the included surface-mount bracket may be a better mounting option.

Surface-Mount Bracket: The Brandmotion 9002-7611 backup camera also includes a universal surface-mount bracket with adhesive backing for placing the camera on a flat surface.

Does/will this hook up to the reverse wire to come on in reverse?

Greetings Doug. Thank you for your question. The camera needs power from any 12 volt source, and to be grounded. The stereo does the switching. The stereo will also have a reverse trigger wire that needs to be connected to the vehicles reverse wire. The camera can be on all the time, but the stereo needs to know when to switch to the camera input.
