Brandmotion's SUTV-8857 rear-view camera integrates nicely into the rugged design of your Wrangler and displays everything it sees on the Jeep's 6.1" touchscreen radio. The camera's wide view and built-in infrared illumination for night driving make it a must-have for the hard-drivin' Wrangler owner. Brandmotion includes optional parking lines to make gauging distance a little easier when you're in reverse.

Adjustable fit

Brandmotion includes an adjustable bracket and camera head extension piece so you can mount the camera between the spokes of a wide variety of rear-mounted spare tires, including aftermarket tires. You'll also find the wiring harness needed for factory integration as well as a handy module that plugs into your Jeep's OBD-II port and reprograms the factory radio to be compatible with the new camera.

Installing this camera yourself? Here's what you should know.

What does it do? Unless otherwise noted, a backup camera is only intended for use backing up your vehicle. (If you require a front-view or constant rear-view camera, check for that capability.)

What tools and supplies will I need? A panel tool, a wire cutter/stripper, a soldering iron, and a rosin-core solder with heat shrink tubing are recommended, along with whatever tools are needed to remove the radio from the dash.

How much wiring is required? Wiring instructions vary from camera to camera. Some cameras have power wiring that can only be connected near the radio. Others let you power the camera at compatible reverse lights. In all cases, the camera must be wired for power and ground, the camera's video output must be connected to the radio/monitor, and the radio/monitor must be connected to a reverse trigger in your vehicle. Some radio replacement interfaces supply a reverse trigger wire for the radio -- using that wire to power your camera will damage the interface.

Will the included video cable be long enough? You'll need to route the camera's video cable from its mounting location outside your vehicle into your vehicle's cabin and all the way to the screen in the dash. This often requires drilling a small hole in your vehicle or filing some metal and or plastic. You'll also need to estimate the length of cable needed to run from the camera to the dash, which will not be a straight shot. Each camera's cable length is listed.

Jeep Wrangler Camera Kit: The BrandMotion SUTV-8857 Jeep Wrangler Camera Kit allows you to add an infrared LED rear-view camera to select Jeep Wranglers with a factory 6.1" display headunit. The camera kit can be used with virtually any style of Jeep Wrangler spare tire.

Note: This rear-view camera kit is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

Vehicle Compatibility: The BrandMotion Jeep Wrangler Camera Kit is designed specifically for 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK models with a factory 6.1" display headunit.

CMD-III Backup Camera: The BrandMotion Jeep Wrangler Camera Kit features a CMD-III rear-view camera that delivers 648 x 488 lines of resolution with a wide 170° horizontal and 120˚ vertical viewing angle. The CMD-III camera features built-in infrared LEDs giving it a Lux rating of 0 for nighttime and low-light conditions.

Weather Resistance: The rear-view camera carries an IP67 waterproof rating.

Viewing Options: The SUTV-8857 rear camera comes defaulted to display Parking Grid Lines and in Mirror mode. These can be changed by connecting the 2 bare-ended wires for each on the camera cable:

Green: Connect wires to remove Parking Grid Lines.
White: Connect wires to switch from Mirror to Rear-View mode.

Spare Tire Mounting Bracket: The BrandMotion Jeep Wrangler Camera Kit comes with a stainless-steel spare tire mounting bracket to mount the rearview camera inside your spare tire on back of your compatible Jeep Wrangler. The spare tire mounting bracket allows you to adjust the neck up, down, left, and right to fit the camera head between the different spoke patterns on varying wheels. Also, included in the kit are two camera head extension brackets (3" & 4.25") to work with varying wheel depths. The spare tire mounting bracket is designed to work with both factory and most aftermarket wheels for the Jeep Wrangler.

Wiring: All wiring for the add-on rear-view camera is included. The camera includes an attached 6' video cable that comes pre-connected to a 23' extension cable for running to the front of the vehicle. A 21" power/video adapter converts the video connector to a composite video jack which plugs into one end of the 22-pin factory display adapter. The 22-pin plug attaches to the back of the factory display radio.

OBDII Flashing: The SUTV-8857 includes a flashing module that temporarily gets plugged into your Jeep's OBDII socket for system flashing, letting you use the camera kit along with the factory 6.1" display headunit.

Note: The OBDII flashing module is VIN locked for single-vehicle use and cannot be used to flash additional vehicles. If your factory radio is re-flashed by a dealership or replaced with another compatible factory radio, the flashing module can still be used.

One reviewer stated the need for an I phone in order to flash vehicle for radio activation and allow the use of the camera. Is that correct? Can the module provided with SUTV-8857 allow plug and play, as advertised. or are any other additional requirements that are needed? Thanks in advance your help. Patrick

This system is built to be installed without needing any smartphone to flash the vehicle. If there are any issues during the installation process, there was once an app that worked on iPhones, but it has been disabled. If there are any issues during installation, we recommend contacting technical support for help and will include their toll free phone number on the order invoice as well as the shipping label on the box
