About the Velodyne SPL-1000II

Chances are, you've never heard or seen a subwoofer like this before. The SPL-1000II is amazingly compact it's just slightly larger than a one-foot cube! And it features an elegant design and handsome finish that will blend seamlessly with your décor. But this little powerhouse packs a serious sonic punch! With a phenomenal 1,000-watt amp, the SPL-1000II produces big, high-impact bass with incredible detail and definition. And it's even video-shielded, so you can place it next to a TV worry-free.
In addition to the 1,000-watt amp, Velodyne has outfitted the SPL-1000II with a massive 10" Kevlar-reinforced resin woofer mounted in a rock-solid die-cast aluminum basket. Plus, their exclusive "Dynamic Driver Control System" assures linear cone movement for tight, accurate, musical bass. From the floor-shaking excitement of home theater to the delicate acoustic bass lines of a jazz quartet, the SPL-1000II handles all of your low-frequency needs with extraordinary power and precision.
The SPL-1000II features flexible connectivity options, so it's easy to incorporate this sub into your existing system, whether for stereo music or home theater. You get line-level and speaker-level inputs, including a crossover bypass for 5.1 home theater bass precision. There's even a stereo line-level output with an 80 Hz high-pass crossover for use with a pre-amplifier.

Inputs and Outputs Notes
Class-D Digital Amplifier: The SPL-1000 Series II features the latest generation of Velodyne's patented ERS (Energy Recovery System) Class-D digital amplifiers. The subwoofer is driven by 1000 watts of continuous RMS power and 2000 watts of dynamic power. Rated at over 95% efficiency, the ERS amp generates minimal heat, making it incredibly reliable.
Kevlar Reinforced Driver: To compliment the powerful amplifier, the subwoofer uses a massive 10" driver with a multi-layer, Kevlar reinforced, resin cone mounted in a die-cast aluminum basket.
Two-layer Copper Voice Coil: The driver incorporates a unique, inside/outside, two-layer copper voice coil that assures linear travel, and allows for the heat dissipation needed to handle the power delivered by the ERS amp.
Dynamic Driver Control System (DDCS): DDCS is an active, signal-based system incorporating several exclusive technologies from Velodyne that assure linear cone movement, and control the driver's frequency and distortion characteristics. This system assures tight, accurate, musical bass.
Anti-clipping Circuitry: The sub incorporates anti-clipping circuitry to limit amplifier clipping distortion.
Low-pass Crossover: The crossover control allows you to adjust the upper limit of the subwoofer's frequency response from 40 to 120 Hz.
Phase Adjustment: This control allows you the "reverse" the phase of the subwoofer's output signal 180? to correct for any possible mismatch and resulting cancellation between the subwoofer and your main speakers/amplifier.
Auto Turn-on Function: With this function in the "auto" position, the subwoofer will turn itself on automatically when an audio signal is present. If no signal is present for approximately 10 minutes, the unit will switch to standby mode.
Protection Circuitry: The protection circuitry guards against overdriving the speaker or amplifier, overheating the amplifier, and excessive drop in power line voltage.
Subwoofer Direct: To bypass the subwoofer's internal crossover when the unit is being fed a low-pass signal from another crossover, simply select the Subwoofer Direct mode. This will eliminate the internal crossover from the signal path.
Preamp Level Input: The line-level jacks should be used when connecting the subwoofer to a pre-amp, signal processor, line-level crossover, or receiver with pre-amp level outputs.
Preamp Level Output: This stereo line-level output has an 80 Hz high-pass crossover for use with a pre-amp.
Speaker Level Input: The speaker-level jacks connect directly to the speaker outputs of any amplifier, integrated amplifier, or receiver. Your amplifier section will notice no additional loading effects when you use these inputs due to their very high impedance.
