Controls on top

All the tuning controls are located on the amp's top panel, so you'll have easy access to them after installation. Low-pass and subsonic filters optimize the sound to fit your particular sub and enclosure. You can add extra punch with a bass boost. A wired remote control lets you run your JackHammer from the front seat.

Features

CTA-2006 Compliant: CTA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output. The criteria for measuring amplifier power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers), with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CTA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers under the same conditions (apples to apples).

CTA-2006 Specifications:

  • Power Output: 600 watts RMS x 1 into 4Ω (20-90 Hz)
  • Signal to Noise Ratio: 70 dBA (measured at 1 watt into 4Ω)

Other Specifications:

  • Power Output:
    • 2Ω: 1100 watts RMS x 1 (≤1.0% THD+N)
    • 1Ω: 1650 watts RMS x 1 (≤1.0% THD+N)

Controls:

  • Turn On: 2-position switch; select Remote (wired) or Audio (signal sensing)
  • Input Level: 2-position switch; select preamp-level or speaker-level
  • Gain: rotary control; variable from 135mV to 10V
  • Crossovers:
    • LPF: rotary frequency control; variable from 40 Hz to 250 Hz; the low pass filter is always engaged (it cannot be bypassed)
    • Sub Sonic: rotary frequency control; variable from 20 Hz to 50 Hz; used to remove extremely low frequencies that can't be cleanly reproduced by the subwoofer
  • Bass Boost: increase the bass level between 0dB and +12dB via the rotary control; centered at 45 Hz

Wire Connections: The JH15001 has set screw terminals for power, ground, turn-on (REM), and speaker outputs. The power and ground terminals will accept up to 4-gauge wire (recommended), and the turn-on and speaker outputs will accept up to 10-gauge wire. The set screws are loosened/tightened with one of the supplied Allen wrenches, 2mm or 4mm. There are two pair of speaker terminals, internally wired in parallel, so you can easily wire two subwoofers in parallel.

External Fuse: The amplifier does not include a built-in fuse, therefore an external fuse should be placed on the power wire, within 18" of the battery. It is recommended that a 4-gauge amplifier wiring kit and a 150-amp external fuse be used when installing the amplifier.

Input Signal: The amp's RCA inputs accept line-level and speaker-level inputs. When using a speaker-level input signal, an optional speaker wire to RCA adapter is recommended.

Wired Remote: The included external bass control (EBC) wired remote gives you control of the subwoofer output level within reach of the driver's seat.

EBC Dimensions:

  • Width: 2" (2.9" including the mounting tabs)
  • Height: 0.95"
  • Depth: 1.67" (2.42" including knob and wiring)

Q
Would I be able to hook up a epicenter?
mario  Apr 25, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Mario, and thank you for your question. The Epicenter uses RCA level preamp inputs and outputs. The MTX JackHammer has the RCA inputs, so you can connect the Epicenter to this amplifier.

Q
Would I be able to connect a epicenter to it?
mario  Apr 25, 2023
1 answer
A
For the ultimate in bass performance Mario, I would recommend it! The AudioControl Epicenter is legendary for its ability to process your bass before the amp. Simply connect the Epicenter to your RCA signal input, and connect the output to your MTX Jackhammer JH15001 amp. Make sure to snag one of the Crutchfield premium RCA cables in the second link below in your length of choice, and the wiring kit bundle for low-current devices in the third link and you are all set for install! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_161EPICEB/The-Epicenter-by-AudioControl-Black.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CMER203/Crutchfield-Reference-2-Channel-RCA-Patch-Cables-3-foot.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_700DSPLOC/Wiring-Kit-for-Processors-and-Low-Current-Devices.html

Q
Would it be best to run 2 mtx 1000 on 2 L715 or just get one mtx jackhammer 1500?

Im sure two amps would sound great but with all the extra wires and space would make lean towards the jackhammer along with the amp controls on top for my installation it???s perfect I have it set at 1/4 and around 80hz pushing 2 Savard 8??? that are rated at 850 each and this amp just sounds sorry intense the bass range is so wide I pick up the really deep bass to the real tight bass. I originally had a Skar an that sounded decent but was missing the real low frequencies. So I would recommend the jackhammer to anyone that wants a true sub amp that doesn???t drain your pocket

I have both the 15001 and 10001. If you wire down to 1 ohm.. the 15001 will only give 825 per sub. That may be under-powering them. It depends on which series l7 you have. The 10001 will give you 1100 x1 at 1 ohm. These are workhorse amps like Mtx usually is. As long as your power matches the subs, you can???t go wrong either way. My 15001 is pushing 4 12w3v3-4 412 per sub and it isn???t even breaking a sweat. Make sure your electrical is upgraded if you plan on adding a system. Dead battery and fried alternator are painful
