About the MTX JackHammer JH5001

LOUD
LOUD
Nothing's louder than a jack hammer, right? MTX proves that with their JackHammer Series JH5001 mono subwoofer amp, which can put out up to 550 watts RMS. The amp can handle loads as low as one ohm, so it'll work well in a variety of multiple-sub setups. Speaker-level inputs let you integrate the amp into a system with a factory radio.
Controls on top
All the tuning controls are located on the amp's top panel, so you'll have easy access to them after installation. Low-pass and subsonic filters optimize the sound to fit your particular sub and enclosure. You can add extra punch with a bass boost. A wired remote control lets you run your JackHammer from the front seat.

Features
CTA-2006 Compliant: CTA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output. The criteria for measuring amplifier power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers), with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CTA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers under the same conditions (apples to apples).
CTA-2006 Specifications:
- Power Output: 200 watts RMS x 1 into 4Ω (20-165 Hz)
- Signal to Noise Ratio: 72 dBA (measured at 1 watt into 4Ω)
Other Specifications:
- Power Output:
- 2Ω: 375 watts RMS x 1 (≤1.0% THD+N)
- 1Ω: 550 watts RMS x 1 (≤1.0% THD+N)
Controls:
- Turn On: 2-position switch; select Remote (wired) or Audio (signal sensing)
- Input Level: 2-position switch; select preamp-level or speaker-level
- Gain: rotary control; variable from 135mV to 10V
- Crossovers:
- LPF: rotary frequency control; variable from 40 Hz to 250 Hz; the low pass filter is always engaged (it cannot be bypassed)
- Sub Sonic: rotary frequency control; variable from 20 Hz to 50 Hz; used to remove extremely low frequencies that can't be cleanly reproduced by the subwoofer
- Bass Boost: increase the bass level between 0dB and +12dB via the rotary control; centered at 45 Hz
Wire Connections: The JH5001 has set screw terminals for power, ground, turn-on (REM), and speaker outputs. The power and ground terminals will accept up to 4-gauge wire, and the turn-on and speaker outputs will accept up to 10-gauge wire. The set screws are loosened/tightened with one of the supplied Allen wrenches, 2mm or 4mm. There are two pair of speaker terminals, internally wired in parallel, so you can easily wire two subwoofers in parallel.
External Fuse: The amplifier does not include a built-in fuse, therefore an external fuse should be placed on the power wire, within 18" of the battery. It is recommended that an 8-gauge amplifier wiring kit and a 60-amp external fuse be used when installing the amplifier.
Input Signal: The amp's RCA inputs accept line-level and speaker-level inputs. When using a speaker-level input signal, an optional speaker wire to RCA adapter is recommended.
Wired Remote: The included external bass control (EBC) wired remote gives you control of the subwoofer output level within reach of the driver's seat.
EBC Dimensions:
- Width: 2" (2.9" including the mounting tabs)
- Height: 0.95"
- Depth: 1.67" (2.42" including knob and wiring)
