Perfect plug and play

I used the summing feature on this and it works great. I have a Tacoma with the JBL, the factory amp has preset frequencies going out to the different types of speakers. The only way I could get a clean full signal was to sum the door and tweeter channels into one. This system is going in three phases and when I get to the new head unit stage all of this will no longer be needed. For now I am quite pleased.

Great unit that can handle the voltage of a factory amp with awesome signal summing capabilities that leads to clean sound feeding your amps.
Pros: Affordable, great sound, high input voltage capability.
Cons: None

Looks and specs can be deceiving. Not impressed.
Chris from Florida on 1/19/2024
I grabbed this based on the great reviews and impressive specs. Unfortunately, I'm very disappointed. Build quality is good, specs off the he charts... And that's about where it ends. First, I really don't care for the functions and the options for signal routing. For some, this may be a blessing. But for me, I only needed a good, audiophile grade LOC with high pre-out volts. I knew I didn't need the variations and things like load resistance, but figured I'd change jumpers or just not use what wasn't needed. But the real issue is... It introduced a low static hiss that was never present before. I'm an MECP certified installer and know how to route for no noise introduction, which is why is wasn't present first. I disconnected it and reconnected the cheap Rockford LOC that I had.. and viola, no noise. In addition, I feel it lowered the fidelity, which never should've happened. I'll be returning it and moving to the tried and true: AudioControl. Very disappointed on Wave Tech. Never again.
Pros: Superb build quality. Small. Lots of signal options (for some)
Cons: Control knob functions are useless to me. Introduced a static hiss that wasn't present before. Lowered fidelity, sound quality dropped.

Night and Day

Tons of clean voltage even with low head unit output. The other reviewer, also with a Toyota, opened my eyes as to what I should be looking for. The details page specifies the output impedance and using this info has changed my listening experience 10 fold. I originally purchased the JL Audio LoC-22, output impedance 450ohms. While the converter itself is super easy to set up and tiny (a plus for me), I had to crank it all the way up to get any usable signal which introduced tons of unwanted noise. Either this or crank my headhunt all the way to clipping to get the voltage I needed. Wavtech Link 4 is rated at 50 Ohms output impedance and I noticed a huge difference immediately. Not only could I leave my stock headhunt at a non-clipping level, I also barely had to turn the input knob on the Link 4 to get 6 volts. This made tuning my amps extremely easy. I am always a flat response, listen to music the way the producers intended kind of guy so the lack of bass functions was not an issue for me. Just needed clean, unclipped, voltage and this product delivers. Overall, the best purchase I have made for my new RAV4, maybe some day I'll get an aftermarket headhunt with the data link Maestro. So do yourself a favor and head to the Details section on the product page, hats off to Crutchfield for providing this level of detail on their products.
Pros: Tons of clean voltage, even with low output stock head unit.
Cons: None so far

Over a year and still works great.

Bought this to use in my golf as I wanted to keep my factory stereo and use a higher quality bluetooth adapter since none of the aftermarket radios supported AptX HD or LDAC, setup was straightforward and easy, the dip switches on the back of the remote give a ton of flexibility in how you can use this, with 4 different modes: Factory Sub volume only, Factory Sub volume and Aux+Sub control (Default is sub vol, press to switch to aux vol, and then press and hold while in aux vol to switch to sub), Aux Speakers + Sub Control, and Combo mode which controls vol+sub for both factory and aux(press to switch between factory radio and aux, press and hold to switch to sub) At first I had it in combo mode, then for a while I had my radio out while I did some other work and had the link4 in Aux only mode, went back to combo mode, and then my amp died and took some speakers with them (did a visual inspection of the link4 and some multimeter probing and it seems fine) so currently I have it in Factory only mode. I have some Audiofrog speakers on order and a kicker key amp that I'm sure will run just fine off of this, and I use an Earstudio ES100 MK1 as my bluetooth adapter. Definitely impressed with this, only annoyance is there's no way to set Aux input as default when using a mode that has both factory and aux, so I end up having to press the remote button every time I get in the car. Not a big deal, but would be nice to have it remember what mode it was left in.
Pros: Sounds good, super flexible, bulletproof functionality, easy to configure.
Cons: No way to default it to start in aux mode when remote is set to use as LOC and Aux combo controller.

Audio control vs Wavtech
Crutchfield customer from San Antonio, TX on 2/20/2021
Prior to purchasing I had an audio control lc7i. The output on the lc7i was 8.5vrms. What they don't tell you is the rated ohms for that signal is quiet when adapting to a factory system. I have a Toyota head unit and getting a clean usable signal out of the CarPlay head unit isn't easy. The Wavtech was able to give me full control of my rca volume. The rear channels on Toyota's are whisper quiet but this device was able to let me turn the volume up to clipping point for the rear channels which the lc7i could not do! The Wavtech is rated at 10v rms at 50ohms output. The lc7i is rated at 8.5vrms at 150ohms. There is a huge difference in volume output as the Wavtech is way louder. I could not find this information online so, here is it now and I hope this helps someone else. If you only need a high to low converter and not the bass boost function that comes on the audio control. Then I would choose this over audio control any day! The audio quality is nearly the same. I had to adjust my DSP time alignment but other than that. It is identical to an audio control high to low but with substantially more volume to use.
Pros: Loudness capability Input sensitivity options Clipping indicators Great build quality Same audio quality as other manufacturers Better frequency response than other manufacturers. Comes with a control knob with multiple functions
Cons: Wiring adapters are a little small but it's not a problem unless you have several wires hooked up to each port.
